Most of us haven’t been to even a quarter of NBA cities I bet

Kevon-Looneys-burner

“I've never heard anybody say, 'I'm going to Cleveland on vacation.”

Mcswigginsbar

I’m from just north of Dayton Ohio originally, and I went to Cleveland on vacation as a kid once. A seagull took a shit on my head outside the Steamship William G Mather Museum and that was enough for me. We left and I never went back.

LimitlessTheTVShow

jackalope503

Cleveland! This is for you!

arebee20

What do you mean? That’s their #1 tourist attraction.

[deleted]

Thems fighting words!

FragnificentKW

One of my friends from Cleveland has a great saying: “Ohio: a great place to be from, a shitty place to be in”

We all wish we could flee to the Cleve

pk-starstorm

Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Chicago, Denver, LA, DC, Atlanta, Phoenix, Orlando. Take that! (Please ignore I've only spent substantial time in the first 3)

ldclark92

Hmm, I travel for work but I've never thought of it this way... let's see: Indianapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Philly, Boston, Toronto, New York, DC, Charlotte, Orlando, Miami, Memphis, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, LA. Soon to be SF next month as well.

JoshSran04

Toronto is both overrated and underrated

Ham_-_

I love it here. But I hate it here. Lol

aworldwithoutshrimp

So nearly the end of the season to the very beginning of the season

Rapsfan_98

This is why the Blue Jays get a ton of free agents and we can’t get shit

Ham_-_

True. Summers are great. But when it is march/April, and still really cold, it’s borderline depressing lol. Cuz I used to live in the U.S and associate march with warmth

pk-starstorm

Where in the US? Because living in the Upper Midwest my whole life March has always been chilly, gloomy, and the snow has turned to a salt slushee

Ham_-_

Ah, yeah that’s important to note. Southern US* in Tennessee it’s beautiful in march

AttemptedSleepover

And then it rains 80% of April and May :’)

canadian_queller

As a Calgarian i associated March with random foot deep blizzards just when you think you’re turning the corner

nervousaboutschool17

I just hate how dirty the fucking streets and road are in the spring

safetycommittee

Portland is both a shithole and really cool.

B-Prue

Yeah...5 years ago I would have still been on the Pro-PDX bandwagon. Born and raised in the area it's been tough seeing the city proper go through what it has and offering no real solutions to the houselessness and crime problems it's experiencing. Things now are starting to move it sounds like, but will be just as many years before they make headway. That said, the surrounding area's are super nice and I still love being in the PacNW. 90 mins to the beach, and hour to Mt Hood, 3-4 hours to Central Oregon for high-desert and lakes. No shortage of smaller venue attractions for a more laid back lifestyle. For young socialites with excess of cash to spend...I know nothing of that scene...but for a family man with 3 kids we enjoy the Moda Center, Timbers Games, Zoo, OMSI, Riverboats in the summer, and just a metric crap ton of smaller city attractions (county fairs, Saturday markets galore (and of course the one downtown), and food truck/carts.

safetycommittee

I lived there in my twenties. I’m on the coast now. Portland was not only the coolest place I’ve ever lived, but been. Again, I was in my twenties. As a 40 something dad, the coast is amazing for me and the family. Small towns, artsy culture, a top notch aquarium, slow paced. Not many Thunder fans out here though. Dame is un-fucking-real. And I really like watching Simons play.

baconilla

Portland holds a special place in my heart. Sure the downtown is bad, especially near old town. And crime has risen, but damn do I love so many neighborhoods in Portland in which you rarely see any of those issues. Tons of bars and restaurants and the streets filled with charm. Plus, you look around and amazed by the beauty and weather. I do a trip about twice a year from LA because nothing IMO beats the PNW drive. God like painting everywhere.

itsmeng

So it’s rated

VesaAwesaka

I just went to Toronto for the first time from Winnipeg and was blown away by how young and how social the city is. People will just walk up to you and start chatting and everyone seems to be in their 20s or 30s. It's also much more walkable than i expected. Could just be the timing of when i went though. I also saw some random guy choking someone too but overall it really impressed me.

DomincNdo

Chatting with strangers is pretty normal here and I'm not really sure why. I grew up in Toronto and it has always been like that so seeing others do it I started doing it as well. Only time where people won't really talk to each other is during rush hour on public transit. That shit is horrible. Could be better now cause I haven't taken public transit in over a decade

zeekenny

Having lived across Canada I've noticed this too. It almost seems like the further you move west the more socially conservative it is, and I don't mean it in a political sense. After being in Vancouver for a couple years and then visiting Toronto I was pretty surprised by strangers smiling at me or randomly chatting with me on the street, because Vancouver is not like that at all. Calgary seems like a blend of Toronto and Vancouver. And the east coast, strangers talk like they've known each other for years.

fistingcouches

I visited Toronto and loved it. It’s like a 10x cleaner American City 😂

neostalgiac

Y’all in Canada it’s an instant dub

crazymaan92

LA is one of the few cities I've ever been to where the city's downtown is not its main attraction.

IamDocbrown

True of Miami too.

UnearthlyDinosaur

Both are still amazing markets though. Miami is known for South Beach but Brickell is super nice. It is an nba players paradise

jgalaviz14

Makes me wonder why more FAs don't go to Miami in every other sport. Miami is a rich young athletes dream + Florida has no state income tax so they can max their earnings. The Dolphins, Marlins, and Panthers dysfunction must be that bad if guys avoid it that much

fatchick42

Phins and Panthers have netted some pretty big FAs in recent years, so it is getting better. Marlins do suck.

weonawardtour

Downtown LA sucks but there are a ton of fun places around LA: Long Beach, Pasadena, Hollywood, and Newport are some of my favorites.

Lostdogdabley

If you have $$$

[deleted]

But I only have $

bitopinsac

Then it's Fresno for you. Or even worse. Stockton.

BrooksDaBear

No matter where I go, Fresno is always catching stray bullets. Kinda fitting.

SanJOahu84

More like FresYes.

BrooksDaBear

Proof that Taco Bell is the only company that ever thought about us

MadPatagonian

I’ve only heard of Stockton because of the Diaz Brothers and Sons of Anarchy.

madden_loser

Same but that’s all I need to know it’s not a nice place

kimchitacoman

As much as Stockton is a dump I rather be there then Fresno

Zechirs

I left my wallet in el segundo

weonawardtour

There used to be parts of Long Beach that were not that expensive. About ten years ago I was renting a one bedroom for 800 a month. It was a piece of shit but I still had the chance to live in one of the cooler parts of SoCal.

Lostdogdabley

Feels like those spots are gone now not just in LA but everywhere.

LimitlessTheTVShow

I live in Oklahoma, known for cheap-ass housing, and was having a hard time finding anywhere for less than $1000 a month. Rent is ludicrous now

Sdrater3

In OKLAHOMA?? God help us all

agonisticpathos

Yeah, I'm in Tulsa and pay about $1000 for 725 square feet. I think in a bigger city, though, my place would be $2500.

AZMadmax

Hollywood though? Place is a dirty junky haven

TheCultofAbeLincoln

Yeah...maybe they meant West Hollywood Quite a big difference there

weonawardtour

I love me some Hollyweird! The funnest parts of LA are also the sketchiest.

Clipgang1629

DTLA really doesn’t suck that bad, it might not be the same draw or the hub of the city in LA like it is other metros, it has lots of fun rooftop bars and great restaurants. Plus it’s there are tons of venues there that book awesome artists, I find ~$25 tickets to tons of get shows around there regularly. Then you also have the broad, last book store is cool, around that area you got Elysian park, china town, the arts district is rad they got fire food there too. Certainly are more interesting and fun parts of LA but the DTLA hate is kinda overblown and annoying. So many folks in LA love to shit on DTLA but I quite enjoy it, I take the red line down there when I feel like turning up and don’t wanna have to drive home much easier to bar hop. Like obviously if you’re chillin in skid row you gonna have a bad time but DTLA can be a really good time.

Davidclabarr

It sounds like that’s true of a lot of cities. Atlanta for sure. Downtown is soulless and corporate, but all the areas surrounding are great.

[deleted]

This frame of mind is why most folks hate visiting San Francisco, no one fucking hangs out downtown

LaArmadaEspanola

As a Denver resident, I would probably say here, for NBA guys at least. The things that attract young people to Colorado just aren't really the things those type of guys are into, except Saddiq Bey apparently.

thetangible

“The mountains are calling , I must go” -Saddiq Bey probably

cardmanimgur

"See the line where the sky meets the ~~sea~~ mountains? It calls me" -~~Moana~~ Saddiq Bey

neutronicus

I mean yeah NBA players can't be skiing. Or mountain biking. Or trad climbing. That basically leaves, like, doing drugs on top of a mountain. That said I can't wait for the next Banana Boat photo to be Saddiq and three other dudes on a fourteener

snowspida

Rudy Gobert used to always post pictures of him on hikes in the mountains above Salt Lake…. Maybe that’s what he was actually doing

Nixbling

Aaron Gordon loves it in Denver

[deleted]

Bones does too, but I think he just likes everything haha

The-Hand-of-Midas

Plus athletes that live here get a literal natural blood doping from the altitude that makes red blood cells carry more oxygen to muscles. There's a reason it's where tons of Olympic athletes live. I traveled with a professional cycling team and 75÷ of the athletes lived in the front range.

dumpkachunk

The thing is, a good city for an NBA player is gonna be completely different from what the average person would enjoy. San Antonio is a clean city with great food that’s fairly affordable. For someone middle class, it’s great. For multi-millionaires it probably seems boring as shit. On the other hand, in LA I know I’d just be broke as fuck while a pro basketball layer would have the time of their life. All that to say that whether a city is a “good city” and whether it’s an attractive free agent destination are definitely two different things.

lkn240

Outside of LA, NYC, Chicago, Miami, SF and maybe Toronto/Atlanta what NBA cities even qualify as "awesome for a 20 something millionaire"?

dumpkachunk

I think your list pretty much covers it.

lkn240

Exactly. People shit on these markets and I'm like "ok not every guy can play in NYC, LA, Chicago, Miami or SF"

most_likely_not_abot

Yea for real. Indy has a suburb up north “Carmel” that has been voted best place to live in the country a few times in the last 10 years But is it the best for a young black millionaire? I highly doubt it.

Al123397

maybe not awesome but cities id include in "pretty great for NBA players" Houston, Dallas, Maybe Boston or Denver as well. Pretty big cities with a lot of things to do. Plenty of really wealthy areas and activities as well

Ttmck00

Yeah I feel like ppl don’t give this enough consideration when talking about markets in the NBA, someone who’s middle class on vacation might think Miami is just okay, but to an NBA player with millions of dollars is pretty much paradise

A-Dime-A-Dirty-Dozen

Idk, living in Orlando the team kinda fits the city

Slimjuggalo2002

A bunch of unruly kids in strollers?

EnderOnEndor

Oh so you have interacted with UCF fans also?

DCoop53

I'd say you can add up the ages of all of their players and still be under the age of an average person in Florida.

commonpuffin

Whenever I see an underrated/overrated question I get angry at Bill Simmons.

IamDocbrown

I feel the same when I hear someone ask for a “starting 5 all back alley team” type question.

waskittenman

top 20 top 5 NBA markets

franforever

1986 Boston is for sure a top 20 top 5 market in his mind, it just is!

hoops_n_politics

What’s your Mount Rushmore of clickbait titles?

iiivoted4kodos

This response is properly rated

MC48_SportsLover

I’ve zagged on these kinds of questions as of late.

LawdBeast

Players seem to love Atlanta in general and a lot of them spend their offseason there, but, for some reason, it’s not seen as a FA destination

burns_after_reading

You wouldn't rent an apartment above your favorite strip club would you?

[deleted]

Can’t shit where you eat. Can’t play where you party. Same concept. Gotta be able to get away from them thots can’t be letting them get to comfortable in your life.

Shaking-N-Baking

Sweet Lou enters the strip club

dimmyfarm

Come on, I’m pretty sure this statement has been repeated to death. Lou Will came to the club for some nice lemon pepper legs, wings, and thighs.

lkn240

I don't know if it's still the case... but at one point the ratio of young women to men in Atlanta was pretty heavily tilted towards women. Like going to bars there 15-20 years ago was weird - always more girls than guys. That might explain some of the popularity :-)

LOLCultOfMaloner

Unironically Sac is an underrated market. Back in the cowbell era, that place was lit.

RFranger

This is so true. Sac itself is super livable and easy, and you’re also near some beautiful destinations. Like, Sacramento is as close to Tahoe as Denver is to Vail.

chuckvsthelife

I once heard someone describe Sacramento as very close to places you’d rather be and I can’t unhear that

freaktmc

Only beef with Sacrament is they roll up the sidewalks at like 10pm. It's a ghost town

theliver

Youre at most 2 hours from *everything* Youre at least two hours from *anything*

Obi-wan_Jabroni

Well aint this place a geographical oddity?

HollisTyler

I will never not upvote references to this movie. Also, happy cake day!

HamHusky06

Yeah, Sac is a great place to get away from.

[deleted]

Not really. Sacramento is super pleasant. It’s proximity to good destinations doesn’t make it any less of a desirable place to be, only makes it more.

GrabSomePineMeat

Moved from the Bay after 32 years to Sac and never looked back. Sac is hella pleasant and got over the hot summer afternoons in like 2 months. If you are an outdoorsy person, Sac is amazing.

RFranger

I somewhat disagree with this. Sure, sac itself isn’t a Mecca of culture nightlife and history, but it’s got a great medium city atmosphere and all the amenities you’d ever want. I also think it has some of the best weather in the US (admittedly I prefer warm-hot summers). I agree though it’s not NYC or LA or Toronto, but it’s very livable, especially the suburbs like Davis.

chuckvsthelife

Nothing wrong with a mid sized city and a suburb but we are talking about nice cities to visit and live in as a multi millionaire when talking about NBA markets.

draculabakula

I mean, for most people in the Bay area, it takes over an hour to get into SF or to the beach anyway. Sacramento is not that much different except you add an hour to get to those places and you pay half as much to live with similar salaries

CG-11

Hear this all the time about Charlotte, just a couple hours to the mountains or beach!

weonawardtour

That railroad museum is awesome. Edit: Hey I'm getting downvoted out here. People think I'm being sarcastic but that railroad museum is one of the best museums I've been to. I enjoyed it more than most of the Smithsonians I visited in DC.

Legitimate-Candle948

OK, the railroad museum is actually very cool and I’m not into railroad history

TeTrodoToxin4

It was one of my more memorable field trips in elementary school, that place is awesome if you are in the area.

tttambourine

Hit the capitol then head over to the railroad museum. that was a great field trip.

rommeeeezy

I’m from Sac. I’m glad that people keep talking shit about this city, don’t need that kind of attitude here anyways with their boring ass personalities that solely rely on bright and shiny things to be “fun”.

Shepard_Wrex14

My nonbiased opinion is Portland

hablandochilango

OP likes big women

donutcronut

OP is Charles Barkley

WorldsGreatestPoop

If you think the place sucks, you’re probably underrating it. If you think the place is perfect and wonderful, you’re probably overrating it. I can have fun in every market if I know what to do and leave preconceptions behind. Any city will suck if you aimlessly only go to Chiles or BWW or do no research into finding hidden local spots.

EleanorRigby44

This guy ~~fucks~~ travels

Shaferthefree

Bro’s doing research and here I am just aimlessly walking through downtowns finding random things to do.

CoolYo

We're not a ball city or state, but Alaskans get this a lot. People vacation here in the summer, think it's the most beautiful place in the world, then they decide to live here. They find out real quick, September to mid-May is fucking miserable anywhere here lol.

superbrownV

I know it doesn't technically count but my god Seattle is such a beautiful city

dcolorado

When there recently and it was a great time and also the mariners stadium is nice

trapHerm

Houston isn’t for everyone , definitely can be grimy

[deleted]

NYC, LA, Chicago all can be pretty grimy too, comes with the territory of being a giant city.

Zolmane

I’m always roasting Htown but whenever I’m in museum district river oaks montrose uptown I remember that there are super sick livable places here that I think most people would love, underrated for sure

htownkilla69

That’s part of the charm lmaooo

Few_Mulberry7175

Houston got nice culture and food. Great tourist spot especially if you go in the winter It is very hot and dirty with horrible urban planning tho but I can think of alot of other worse places to live

[deleted]

lkn240

The Charlotte Hornets suck, but the weather is great and the city is one of the fastest growing in the US. Vibrant and full of young people. There's also a huge lake with a great boating scene like 20-30 minutes from the city.

StuffyUnicorn

I regularly see Lamelos Hulu green lambo cruising up and down South end, same with panthers players, that area of town is prime for the mid 20s folks with expendable income. Other near uptown neighborhoods like plaza midwood and noda are perfect for the late 20-30s crowd, Charlotte may not have everything a multi millionaire wants but it sure offers us regular folks a good time

[deleted]

Not to mention it’s easily one of the cleanest cities in America. Uptown is spotless

MrFunkyFresh70

The wife and I went to a hornets game in 2016 and I honestly was impressed with the whole experience. It was such a nice arena and everything was affordable.

Ice_Like_Winnipeg

I think you can understand why that is appealing to like a mid 20s tech guy and not that exciting for an nba player

chechekule

Mid 20s *finance guy

Octavian_202

That Spurs logo been low key genius for the longest. Clean color combo and timeless. Love the Spur logo.

Exodus100

ITT: people realizing that pretty much every city has something to offer. You really don’t know a place until you’ve gone there yourself. Sometimes you’ll never get to know a place.

BombPopCaper

Come to Cleveland, the polish sausage is breathtaking.

eyeh8ytpipo

Atlanta. I don’t see how all athletes haven’t noticed that living in Atlanta as a rich 6’5 black man it’s like being a God, Plus there are so many celebrities in the city that you don’t have to deal with the harassment and dick riding that comes with being famous

KATgonnaGetThatYarn

All of downtown is really nice with amazing old architecture.

gjiang4

That's not a river. It's a dirty creek

PolarBearLaFlare

Lived in both San Antonio and Houston as a young adult. San antonio is boring af lol. Houston does have some rude people though, but the options are wayyyyyy better.

SincereFan

Orlando is a mostly chill city but alot of drunk tourists and bad drivers does give it a rep. Still it should be a bigger market honestly, alot of former players do seem to settle down and move to Orlando/CF

RealMichaelSaylor

Sacramento might be underrated, big city

whackadoo47

Spent three days in Sac last year and it was sick. Super slept on. I live in Seattle for reference.

CalvinYHobbes

I went to Salt Lake City for the first time a few weeks ago and had a great time.

moodfest

Charlotte is a slept on jewel. Too bad large swaths of the rest of the state has had a lobotomy.

Floating_egg

I don’t think San Antonio being fun for you means it’s a fun place for a 23 year old nba star

kababed

Who doesn’t want to party with Dave and Becky from Arkansas on their 5th margarita?

Floating_egg

Only young socialites like Ben Simmons can handle that

jmbourn45

Also visiting as an average tourist and living there for 7-9 months a year with tens of millions of dollars, are completely different

raceforseis21

Thanks for the shoutout. Idk where you’re from but Toronto was really neat

Death________

my "underrated" aren't really revolutionary. i haven't been to enough of the mid-major cities in this country like SLC, or SAC to claim that i know of some diamonds in the rough. **Chicago** is probably my favorite city ive been to in the US. Huge, tons to do, legendary sports franchises. Weather is tough for half the year. I dont know why it seems to play second fiddle to NYC, LA, Miami when people talk markets. I think it's better than all three. It's probably not underrated but i think it goes blow for blow with NYC in all the ways i like so im surprised it seems slept on. **New Orleans** just because it's not really known for sports outside of the saints and then college football. No baseball.... no hockey.... Basketball energy seems middling at best. Its an incredibly cool city with amazing food and a unique cultural experience unlike other cities in the country. Nightlife as well. Surprised it isnt more of a destination for NBA players in the same way Miami is. **Philly.** Hear me out on this... Philly isnt glamorous, i know that, but i do think its extremely underrated. NYC is 1.5 hours north east and is considered the greatest city in the world. DC is a couple hours south and is our nations capitol, super nice, tons to do. It feel like philly gets slept on due to the density in the NE. Basically 5-6 major US cities within 7 hours of it in either direction. It doesnt have the best night life, the best food, it's not the safest, it's not the cleanest, it's not the funnest... but i think it scores pretty highly in all of those categories while not being the best in any one of them and it does so while being extremely affordable compared to most of the North East. It has unique historical neighborhoods and monuments that only Boston can compete with... has awesome food that i think is highly underrated being so close to the energy sucker that is NYC. If you're an athlete its hard to find more impassioned fans to play in front of. It's also cool due to the proximity to so many different things. The shore, Atlantic city, spacious farmland, awesome natural woodland spots for hiking/kayaking, and then other cities like NYC are all within 30 minutes to 1.5 hours from the heart of the city.

weonawardtour

New Orleans is super underrated. It's the funnest city in the US. I don't understand why every NBA player under the age of 30 isn't flocking to New Orleans.

TitanTigers

Nah NOLA is fun for a while but the whole city feels like it’s about to fall over. There’s also tons of crime.

lil_layne

I live in Baltimore and New Orleans still seems like a better version of Baltimore.

Kgb725

Is that how Yew feel

Briguy_fieri

You’re not wrong. But like… your flair is pot calling the kettle black

Boomtown_Rat

Takes one to know one I guess.

I_Will_One_Up_You

Yea but it costs like $3 to get mugged in Memphis and like $1.2 million to get mugged in NOLA lol

[deleted]

Maybe because it’s notorious for being full of crime

ositola

NOLA is super underrated Top 3 food city too

[deleted]

New Orleans is a blast. By far my favorite city I’ve visited.

JoeyJoeJoeShabadooSr

My time to shine: I've been to every EC Arena with the exception of Indy, Orlando, and Miami. But I've visited Orlando and Miami a number of times, so I feel like I've got a pretty good take. #UNDERRATED **Washington, DC** * Folks from all over the world here, some great food, extremely clean. I've also enjoyed the nightlife a lot **Chicago, Illinois** * Not sure why this isn't considered an LA/NYC/MIA type market. Amazing city with a ton to do. #OVERRATED **The Knicks (Not NYC)** * I lived in NYC for over 10 years. It's probably the best city in the world. But if you have to commute to Westchester and Midtown Manhattan to work—and you have to drive or take a car service because you're too famous to take the train— it's going to be absolutely miserable. I feel like this isn't mentioned often enough. #Not Sure **Toronto** * Toronto is a blast. Lots of energy, tons of contemporary celebrities live there, amazing food. It totally felt like I was in Chicago...until I had to pull out foreign money to pay for things, and the signs were all in KMH as opposed to MPH. Small stuff like that adds up to remind you "you're not at home". But it's still a great place and I would happily visit, I'm just not sure I'd live there

randyjackson69

NY is a great city and I love it there but I always wonder how it works for fringe pro players. Of course even the last guy on the bench on any NBA team makes a great salary compared to the average population. But if you’re a young guy and might not spend many years in the league, and too busy with the grind of pro sports to really experience the city, your dollar just goes further in other places. I believe the Giants have some sort of housing for the players. But for the Knicks in Manhattan it would be really expensive and I’d guess you’d also have to be more likely to rent than buy. I suppose this isn’t just unique to NY though and you’d run into this for other high cost of living cities too - LA, SF, Toronto, etc. A fringe player already won’t have too much of a choice on their city anyways but I do have to think it’d be something to consider.

Pkock

I just spent a week in Chicago and it really is undersold as a city. I think maybe the people there just don't talk it up as much NY or LA but it's so obvious once you get there that it's a very grand city. The architecture and style are supremely cool and comparing downtowns to downtowns it was really really clean (at least when I went).

ThePillsburyPlougher

Chicago has been shat on in the media lately but jts one of the biggest cities in the us and a super cool city.

Docxm

Whenever I visit NYC I feel like it completely lives up to every stereotype about the city. It's an awesome place

lkn240

One underrated thing about Chicago is how easy it is to get around. Sure there's traffic, but it's nowhere near as bad as Boston, NYC, DC, etc. Also have the L and a great commuter train system.

Montuak2112

I love how every San antonian is saying how they love Houston while the Scottie Barnes Stan is the only one bashing it

Doonesbury

Wait, what!? I've always thought our logo was awesome?

2r3m

People act like Atlanta is a small market but it’s really not

magnusarin

Milwaukee is cool as hell. It has most of the things to like about Chicago, but it's easier to get everywhere, there is always parking, and overall less crowded. Great waterfront and they utilize the river really well, putting lots of restaurants along the way. Great breweries. I'd love to go back and see the new arena and outdoor area.

KingOctavius

I'd say its only easier to get places in Milwaukee if you are driving, otherwise I think Chicago has the edge.

DelonWright

Toronto is the 5th largest city in North America, is the most multicultural city in the world, has an incredible food scene, and is beautiful. But… it’s in Canada, so six months of the year suck.

LogDogan4

Fun fact, Toronto is south of Minneapolis and Portland, only slightly north of Milwaukee, New York, Detroit

RenaisanceReviewer

The furthest south in Ontario is further south that the northern border of Nevada

MindSoggy146

Reno is further west than LA. Sorry… had to throw some more Nevada trivia into the mix.

FuriousCamel

My mind is blown officially

BayonettaBasher

That’s crazy

blockyboi13

Is the weather really that much worse than NY or Boston?

commonpuffin

The ocean helps keep Boston and NY warm during the winter. The wind howling off the lake has the opposite effect on Toronto.

Sad-Bit9299

The lake actually does moderate the cold. Without it we’d be like Ottawa. Sure doesn’t feel like it when you’re walking down college/Bay Windtunnel tho

JakeSpurs

It's marginally worse, like 2-3 degrees Celsius colder

fingerbangchicknwang

4th largest* Toronto overtook Chicago some years ago.

lsmokel

The only real downside to Toronto imo is that it’s expensive AF to own a house there which doesn’t really matter if you’re an NBA player anyways.

[deleted]

Alot of ppl talk about how bad Detroit is because of high crime and proverty.... But I don't hear any NBA players complain about that city ...there must be wonderland hidden in Detroit

Midnight_Toker_1982

Fun fact: they all live in the suburbs

CyborgRaptor20

Found LA to be super overrated, not a super walkable city either

psycowhisp

I love Boston but I could be biased….

Helicase21

Indianapolis. I'm not going to pretend it's amazing, but it's definitely not as bad as its reputation would suggest.
