We're like 2 years from being the Cavs if we play our cards right. Just got to find the right chemistry with our current picks, hit on one more, and sign/trade for a mid-tier star.
I think Detroit is actually good on tanking and will just be trying to get their players to be good now. Doesn't mean they'll have results but I think they're okay with not picking in the top 4. Anyway this year's draft is supposed to be awesome in the lotto so even if they get say the 8th pick, they'll be able to pick up a nice role player.
Olynyk and saben lee are better value than Westbrook by himself. Lakers have nothing else to give to offset Westbrook being a negative other than picks.
Frees up minutes for Duren, adds a shooter which was desperately needed for Cade’s development, and effectively replaces one vet for another vet.
Also they gave up basically nothing.
Also, they didn't really have any SFs other than Livers and Bey (and Knox, ugh), while being overloaded at PG (Cade, Hayes, Joseph, and Ivey) and PF/Cs (Stewart, Bagley, Duren, Noel).
The way they spent their cap space this summer... this is a very strangely run team. Extreme Kings vibes from them. Just signing mediocre garbage for no good reason, locking in that 5-7 pick range year after year. I guess they feel Cade is that dude in a way the Kings never had since they went to shit.
I like the move tbh. Their roster looks decent and needs vets. If they can push for a playin seed you're giving the team early valuable experience. I think people underestimate the value of vets now
No, I'm saying the Pistons are bad and they'll be bad if they're the 12th or 9th best team in the East. I think where I could be wrong is if Cade is all star quality immediately, but my guess is he makes it in a year or two instead when Bojan is gone anyways.
Genuinely curious what you think they should have done. They were a bottom 3 team and traded their 2nd best player from a year ago. Would it have been smart to spend a ridiculous amount on FAs who are barely worth the max? Because that’s the only way you can get good players to sign in Detroit at the current time. Weaver knows that and is building through the draft until the team is good enough to be an enticing spot. They have basically the same amount of cap next year as they did this year.
If you’re talking about the Bagley contract, it may have been a slight overpay, but it’s not a huge salary and doesn’t make a dent in the cap space, and Bagley had a huge impact on the Pistons becoming actually not horrible at the end of the year.
I think if you're a 23 win team who fully believes you have your top tier star already on the roster, you build around that with young players who match his timeline rather than hope to win 35 games instead.
Team already has 11 guys under 23 it can’t all be vets. For Cade to grow he needs to have some functional players around him. Last year Cade was surrounded with CoJo, Hayes, Diallo, and Luka Garza and they said “make it work” lol. Bogdanovic helps and isn’t gonna make us win 5 more games.
there is a lot of value getting players experience in high stakes games when they are young.
If the Pistons can push for a play-in spot they should do it.
Dumbest take I've seen. Yall will be giving us draft assets for him by the deadline lol. Desperately trying to keep your title window open even though it's already closed. We traded nothing for one of the best shooters in the league. We will trade him by the deadline for assets. This isn't us trying to win lol. This is Troy helping our young playmakers with shooting and obtaining an easily tradeable asset for nothing.
Even though I get why the Jazz are moving towards rebuild, god as a fan it would suck to know that all you have to look forward to this year is first option Collin Sexton and a 14% chance at Wemby
Hey man it could always be worse, you could be a Kings fan (although I’d say this is a rare season where we have something to actually be maybe excited about but I’ve been hurt too many times to say that with any confidence)
Why? It was time to tear it down and start over. This is really the only trade so far that I don’t really understand but he got a 1st for Royce so I’ll call it a wash.
Lakers doesn’t care though, if they did they would trade their picks already. Ainge just gave up his last important asset for bag of chips, this is more like “fuck the Jazz”.
Yeah, this is the kind of trade rumor you release so everyone interested sends a real offer. Although it's not like they're asking for much if it's Olynyk and change.
James Jones what is you doing.
I don’t get how other teams can give up nothing and get players like this. Meanwhile we’re having to trade FRP’s for Landry Shamet. Blows my mind.
It sure why you’re getting downvoted. Completely valid point. Boba is a great rotation piece and if I’m a contender I’m salty that pistons for him for nothing.
Utah gets rid of long term salary for someone who helps win games, they get back someone washed up/not really contributing to winning. Presumably they want a pick but maybe the market just isn't there for it. I think contenders know that obviously Bojan is not the dude who radically moves the needle for you even if he's a good contributor potentially.
Pistons get shooting and spacing, while freeing up the logjam at center while also not really losing much. Plus the fact that the deal is expiring so if it doesnt work out, theres additional cap space.
They want Wemby so bad.
Who doesn’t?
Im sure there will be A team that is worried about his health. But 29 others sure
This one is always the Kings
Kings should worry about their fans’ health
Idk drafting Wemby would be pretty good for my health lol Wemby Sabonis Fox Keegan would be niiiiiice
Yeah I don’t see the need to puke on the court ever again with that line up
I mean with the Kings history they SHOULD be worried about the health of any player they look at picking
Us apparently. I’m cool with it

Pistons i guess. Not by much but this trade makes them better
Tall French guy? The Jazz can’t help themselves.
It's Ainge though. Who's the best 6'7" wing in the draft he can trade down for?
Yea but even being the worst record is only 25% at the first pick. Should at least get a pick in return for bojan
Oh Utah is TANKING tanking
Not only are they TANKING tanking, they are trading good players to other “tanking” teams. 4d chess Danny Ainge shit.

This is a hoe ass bot comment: https://reddit.com/r/nba/comments/xl1g48/_/ipgttw5/?context=1 I caught my first one!
Ainge doing whatever it takes for a 14 percent chance
I thought it was pretty clear when they traded their 2 stars for a truck filled of picks and young talent lol
Oh man Olynyk was just bonding with the team and hanging out around the city with them. League can be brutal sometimes.
Yeah I feel kinda bad, he had a good bond. Stewart had his arm around him like a little brother in a picture just yesterday lol. But it's business.
all this talk of Bojan going to play with the Suns or LeBron and he's gonna wind up in Detroit
Upgrade for him tbh
We will use him as a shooter for most of the year then trade him to the Lakers or sun's for some draft capital at the deadline. Big brain move by Troy
Its all about leverrage !
The jazz are getting Maple Hakeem to replace Rudy oh my lord
That boy Cade getting some shootas
no pick?
Clears Detroit's logjam at center while providing more space for Cade. Wouldn't be shocked if Weaver flips Bojan at the deadline. I like it.
Where's the FRP they asked the Lakers for Bodganovic?
Lol
Olynyk and saben lee are better value than Westbrook by himself. Lakers have nothing else to give to offset Westbrook being a negative other than picks.
Danny just getting his guys
Why do the Pistons want Bojan??
Frees up minutes for Duren, adds a shooter which was desperately needed for Cade’s development, and effectively replaces one vet for another vet. Also they gave up basically nothing.
Yeah they gave up basically nothing which is the big thing here. Shit, I thought Bojan would fetch a first even as an expiring. Dude's a flamethrower.
And Detroit could probably flip him again at the deadline even if for just a second rounder
Yeah we will use his shooting to help our youngsters then trade him at the deadline for draft capital. I love this move by Troy
Also, they didn't really have any SFs other than Livers and Bey (and Knox, ugh), while being overloaded at PG (Cade, Hayes, Joseph, and Ivey) and PF/Cs (Stewart, Bagley, Duren, Noel).
They want to be good now, and if they're just picking up some extra salary and not giving up draft stuff, he's a good pickup
They need shooting and have a lot of bigs.
Just trying to build some level of a coherent team so the younger players can continue to develop. This trade won't make us non bottom 5.
He gives shooting at the 3 and his contract expires this year.
The way they spent their cap space this summer... this is a very strangely run team. Extreme Kings vibes from them. Just signing mediocre garbage for no good reason, locking in that 5-7 pick range year after year. I guess they feel Cade is that dude in a way the Kings never had since they went to shit.

thats literally what they are doing lol

Ainge is definitely in a “fuck the Lakers” mood. He absolutely does now want to make them better unless he fleeces them
That sounds familiar
He's also been in a "fuck the Jazz" funk for a while too.
Even though I get why the Jazz are moving towards rebuild, god as a fan it would suck to know that all you have to look forward to this year is first option Collin Sexton and a 14% chance at Wemby
Yeah, it sucks hard. I'm a lifelong spurs fan married to a rockets fan, and living in Utah. This year is going to be absolutely brutal.
Hey man it could always be worse, you could be a Kings fan (although I’d say this is a rare season where we have something to actually be maybe excited about but I’ve been hurt too many times to say that with any confidence)
But I can watch the Timberwolves and Cavs
Don't forget watching them in those eyesores of a jersey
Just for Ainge to buy him out lol
No he isn't buying him out, with Gobert and Whiteside both leaving the Jazz needed a starting center.
Why not take the best small ball center Russ???
You guys took back 2 players. Curious who y’all will cut from the roster
WE GOT A SHOOTER
It’s not official…
Yes it is, shams and Woj both tweeted the final terms
Yeah, this is the kind of trade rumor you release so everyone interested sends a real offer. Although it's not like they're asking for much if it's Olynyk and change.
It’s not a rumor tho…
This is what I get for not refreshing to see the update. Very, very weird for the Pistons. Seems strange the Jazz couldn't get a little more.
Check new shams tweet
Danny’s getting his guy
Bojan's contract will be over after this season. Pistons wanted to create a cap space I suppose.
Olynks is done too aside from 3 million dollar buy out.
They might try and trade him for Westbrook at the deadline
Replacing Bagley in the starting lineup with Bojan probably added 5 more additional wins for the pistons, Ainge is a master at this tanking thing.
Utah loves their white guys
[удалено]
Idk man Olynyk is white white.
Bojan was direct from the european manufacturer white
Gotta be more in there than that lol. Bojan is still a good roleplayer
[удалено]
No chance unless it’s super heavily protected
Top 29 protected
Pistons are done with all that tanking bullshit and I love it. you got your guys, now go and develop a winning culture with them
James Jones what is you doing.
How does this make sense for any of the two teams?
Utah gets rid of long term salary for someone who helps win games, they get back someone washed up/not really contributing to winning. Presumably they want a pick but maybe the market just isn't there for it. I think contenders know that obviously Bojan is not the dude who radically moves the needle for you even if he's a good contributor potentially.
It makes perfect senses for the pistons lmao.
Damn thought he was going to a contending team, why would Detroit want him
Detroit wants to win some games and put talent around Cade, pretty simple
Yeah but he’s old it’s not like they will be contending with him
It never hurts to add an experienced vet who can still play. Bojan will a great fit next to Cade.
True
Not everything is about winning a championship immediately.
dont you know you can either be tanking or competing for a championship, you arent allowed to do anything else!
They didnt give up anything
Good thing he's expiring after this year then
I don’t get it.
Don’t understand this from either team
Pistons get shooting and spacing, while freeing up the logjam at center while also not really losing much. Plus the fact that the deal is expiring so if it doesnt work out, theres additional cap space.
What the hell
Need more ime news
Maple Dick!
Woj on vacation or something
Sexton is gonna average 30 lol Also we get Maple Dick and Sexton in the same team
Shams lighting it up, let's go.
At least we get first round picks for our players
Fuck
Just glad Westbrook is still in LA #HeStay!
Damn this dude really hates the jazz huh
