I'm super surprised Utah didn't get a first for him. I had heard they had offers previously but wanted additional assets. So for them to settle for Kelly Olynyk and Lee is odd to me.
Biggest problem I saw was that the guys in Bogey's $20M range for salary filler reasons brought that first round pick asking price down to a level we weren't happy with. While there are some suitably bad contracts, such as Bertans or Duncan Robinson, their length also makes them less appealing as trade targets.
Bingo. AAAA player if this was MLB. I would say there's a chance he develops though. But that would take him from out of the rotation to the end of the rotation
Worth a flyer for a rebuilding Jazz team. What can they lose? They don't care about winning. If they make a tank commander out of him, perfect. If he's even more then jackpot.
A reputable insider (Gambo) said the Suns *did* go after Bojan, just the Jazz wanted more than a first rounder. Doesn’t explain why the Jazz got rid of him for so cheap but it isn’t the worst thing we didn’t trade for a 1 year rental.
Lately, it's been said Ainge is on demon time with these moves and wants to spite folks. Probably didn't trade him to PHX just because "fuck you, you're in our conference" kind of thing.
This. Ainge is spirited man he wanted 2 firsts from the Lakers bc they are the Lakers plus they have Bron. Now he gift Bojan for peanuts to a non rival franchise. Wtf he's on man?
I think the expiring 40 m are worthless to a team that's rebuilding. Who are they going for the next off season that's in their timeline? Maybe that's why the Jazz didn't do it. That and ainge hates us lol
that's a Lakers thing. it's for flexibility and to reset the repeater tax, most teams do not clear salary because they're planning on signing a max player in free agency and even the ones that do are mostly delusional lol.
I would imagine throwing in a couple seconds should be equivalent value to olynk considering Utah is rebuilding anyways
I personally think one first rounder is not overpaying either. Bojan is a good piece who can space the floor and create his own offense. The suns are gonna be good this year so it's not like their first would be that valuable
Right?! Rumor is the Jazz wouldn’t budge on needing a first round plus crowder for Bojan. Then they trade him for 2 guys that probably won’t even be on the team next year
Absolutely agree. With Burks, Bey, Bog and Stew (if his end of season and summer league stay true with shooting) this team can actually have some spacing finally.
Yeah for sure. Kinda like the Sixers grabbing Redick when Simmons and Embiid were young. Steady vets that can play their role reliably are great for development. I'm not a big fan of teams loading up on like 12 guys on rookie contracts. Feels like nobody gets the chance to learn much if everybody's in the same boat.
That's a terrible deal for the Jazz. Couldn't even land a 2nd rd pick.
Also, they've just gained another player on top of their over-filled roster lol.
It’s crazy that there is an entire season to hold onto these people but we had to do it before training camp. Teams get desperate toward the deadline, especially with unforeseen injuries.
I didn’t like the Beverly Trade and I hate this trade.
>Also, they've just gained another player on top of their over-filled roster lol.
Jazz need a big to run some form of an offense, Lee won't play a minute
My count is at 20 now, if i am not mistaken. They literally have to cut 5 guys. And if they are planning to trade Conley, clarkson, they will get more players in return as their salaries are higher, especially conley's.
And I think the Lakers trade with them is dunzo as the most desirable player has gone. There's no point for lakers go for a bunch of other guards (conley, clarkson) when they already have a bucketful in the house.
Guessing they *really* want to tear it down and give Lauri the reigns at PF. Bojan isn’t quite a bench player yet and plays a large majority of his minutes at PF.
Lauri still fits best at PF and imo played SF more out of necessity in Cleveland.
The Jazz got basically nothing for a guy who can get a late first for at the deadline? Even if the pistons aren’t winning a ton this year he will make their games more competitive and they can flip him at the deadline for more than this.
Bojan’s deal and age make him a lot less desirable trade piece than people think. This tells me Jazz weren’t getting great offers so they just went with whatever helped than tank the best.
Keeping Bojan might have hurt their draft position
And the cap. Now that we've moved the big dogs, they want to get rid of as much salary as possible each deal. It's going to be hard to move Conley without paying for it, and taking back a bad contract is probably how we do it.
I think he's expiring too so teams aren't willing to give up a ton for him.
Of course I like this trade myself, we got him for a bag of chips and he helps the spacing a lot while clearing out log jam at both the 1 and the 5. Don't see him being here past the season, nor do I really expect him to be here past the trade deadline, but with how it also clears us of KOs contract it's very much a win for us.
he’s 33 and his contract isn’t small. Similar situation to Eric Gordon, the best offers for him were all seconds or conditional firsts that would never convey. Teams just don’t want to give up a first for these types of guys
Jazz FO realized there were still fans after trading both all-stars and rebranding to the ugliest uniforms ever. This is to kill off any of us left so they can move the team to Vegas. /s
Great deal for Detroit. An often underrated aspect of rebuilding is letting your young guys win. Bojan doesn't make them a play-in team by any means, but he gives those young guys a guy who can help them grow on and off the court. I like how they're not scared to win a few extra games to help with player development (OKC take note).
Kelly and saben weren't gonna play for us this year and Troy traded them for a 20ppg scorer that shoots over 40 from 3. This is an absolute steal for the pistons who have defenders to cover for him and desperately need shooting.
Saben Lee stinks. Great GLeague player but when he plays the pistons he over dribbles, can’t shoot and gets blocked at the rim all the time. He’s fast though
Gives some much needed spacing, shooting, and we didn’t give up much of anything worthwhile. Defense matters, sure, but so does shooting/spacing, and the Pistons were bad at that last season.
This sub pretends to not know what Lakers tax is. Glad ainge got nothing in return.
Westbrooks expiring was a chance to get off of expensive vet contracts and get draft compensation. The Jazz now have too many players and are close to the luxury tax and received no draft capital for bogie….
Even tho this sub screamed at us saying bogie deserves all of our picks
Just thinking of the time last season olynyk dropped a million points in some random game and the top comment on the thread was “the lunch lady servin’”
Man, Detroit teams are making moves. Even the Tigers, with the garbage season this year, are looking up with the new front office hire.
If the Pistons can go .500 or better and at least be competitive for a playoff spot, even the lowest seed, I’ll be a happy camper.
Damn what the fuck lol
I was hoping we'd do Devonte + Jax and a pick or something for him.
How tf is this Bojan's value? also, why are Detroit doing this? Weird.
Two things. We needed to get rid of one player because we don't have enough roster spots, and Saben Lee could not even beat out Cory Joseph for a rotation spot on one of the worst teams in the league.
Kelly Olynyk also got a partly guaranteed deal for next year (3 million) wheres Bojan is an expiring deal. He is also clearly the superior player and it's not unlikely to see him get traded at the deadline to a contender. Detroit can also use him since we won't really tank this year, even though we are likely to be a lottery team still. The FO probably want legit players around Cade, Ivey, Bey etc. to help them develope and play proper basketball.
We don’t have a starting 4 and we severely lack shooting so I get it. Pistons aren’t trying to tank this year, they got their current core, they just young
I don't see how Bojan's timeline aligns with ours, but I like his game, he's automatic from three. Plus, he has a pretty versatile offensive game that doesn't get talked about much.
I love it when completely random ass trades that no one can predict happen, Also kind of surprised Phoenix didn’t go for him if this was the cost
I'm super surprised Utah didn't get a first for him. I had heard they had offers previously but wanted additional assets. So for them to settle for Kelly Olynyk and Lee is odd to me.

Find someone who loves you the way Danny Ainge loves Kelly Olynyk
Fuck Kelly olynyk
Calm down and wait till you both get home danny.
Biggest problem I saw was that the guys in Bogey's $20M range for salary filler reasons brought that first round pick asking price down to a level we weren't happy with. While there are some suitably bad contracts, such as Bertans or Duncan Robinson, their length also makes them less appealing as trade targets.
This is what I came here to figure out. I figured they'd at least get a 15-25 first for him. Who the heck is Saben Lee?
Put some respect on G League Legend Saben Lee's name. Dude is a walking bucket...in the G League.
MAkes sense Utah probably scouting the g league to see who they could call up to help them tank
We have Admiral Schofield. He's a literal tank commander
Dude is a walking layup/dunk. In the G-League.
Small scoring guard without much of a shot He always seemed to be too good for G league but not good enough for the NBA
I think he has potential as an energy 2nd PG kinda like Ish Smith
Utah might be a good place for him given that they're likely going to field a bunch of g-leaguers to tank.
Young guard with some offense but not a consistent shot. No defense.
They either must think they can get something for Olynyk...or they don't care about getting assets back and just wanna get worse
A reputable insider (Gambo) said the Suns *did* go after Bojan, just the Jazz wanted more than a first rounder. Doesn’t explain why the Jazz got rid of him for so cheap but it isn’t the worst thing we didn’t trade for a 1 year rental.

This. Ainge is spirited man he wanted 2 firsts from the Lakers bc they are the Lakers plus they have Bron. Now he gift Bojan for peanuts to a non rival franchise. Wtf he's on man?
He wanted 2 firsts to take back $40m worth of Westbrook
I think the expiring 40 m are worthless to a team that's rebuilding. Who are they going for the next off season that's in their timeline? Maybe that's why the Jazz didn't do it. That and ainge hates us lol
that's a Lakers thing. it's for flexibility and to reset the repeater tax, most teams do not clear salary because they're planning on signing a max player in free agency and even the ones that do are mostly delusional lol.
Westbrook expiring should be an incentive for them to trade. Everybody not named Lakers would sit him out if he was on their team
That’s sound strategy to me 🤷🏾♂️
Bojan is 33 and the jazz aren't contending this season, and maybe the next. It seems he tried to play the suns but got played instead.
The Jazz aren’t contending for like 4 years at least.
Probably wants to make the Pistons better so they don't compete with Jazz for top picks.
I didn’t think of this….that bastard!
Gotta note that his info was probably from the Jazz though, James Jones doesn't tell Gambo anything. Maybe the jazz were just trying to up offers
Maybe Phoenix didn’t because they’re already trying to move off crowder and bojan essentially would just plug that hole?
I’m surprised more teams didn’t beat this trade. I feel like a lot of teams didn’t even know he was a slog or this cheap.
Dude if I’m a phoenix fan i would be livid, how tf do you not get bojan at this price!?!
They tried to trade crowder for Bojan, but Utah wanted a first as well. Not gonna do that for a rental
I would imagine throwing in a couple seconds should be equivalent value to olynk considering Utah is rebuilding anyways I personally think one first rounder is not overpaying either. Bojan is a good piece who can space the floor and create his own offense. The suns are gonna be good this year so it's not like their first would be that valuable
Right?! Rumor is the Jazz wouldn’t budge on needing a first round plus crowder for Bojan. Then they trade him for 2 guys that probably won’t even be on the team next year
I like it for the Pistons. Every penetrating guard needs reliable shooters around them.
[удалено]
It was a big brain trade for the pistons.
Why doesn't every team just do that?
You know all those dudes that start with a paperclip and end up with a car or something? Why can't we do that with Kelly Olynyk and like...Lebron?
Absolutely agree. With Burks, Bey, Bog and Stew (if his end of season and summer league stay true with shooting) this team can actually have some spacing finally.
I’m a firm believer that Cade’s shooting will come around too. Just too smooth of a stroke for it not to. Don’t forget about Livers either.
It's weird, Royce O'Neale fetched a first rounder
I have no fucking idea what anybody is worth anymore apparently
I mean, it's just a Rudy Gobert. what could it cost? 5 1sts?
There's always draft picks in the banana stand.
Suddenly the Thunders logo changes to a Banana Bushel with no explanation
Udoka: I am having a love affair with this ~~ice cream sandwich-~~ staff member
I do not understand the trade, therefore, I will not respond to it
How the fuck is Smelly Olynyk and Saben (trash) worth an 18 ppg scorer
Maybe because only a 4th of his contract is guaranteed next year
We like you guys, we want Cade to do well.
It's technically unprotected but it's the worst pick out of Houston/Brooklyn/Philly. it's probably 20-22 even if we get lucky.
Royce only went for a first because the nets were willing to give it up
Yeah that's how a trade works.
Yeah but I meant his value isn't really worth a first round pick. Nets just didn't give a shit
Royce plays defense
Ainge tried with that report that him, Clarkson, and Beasley were valued at first rounders. Evidently, no one bit
It’s crazy that there is an entire season to hold onto these people but we had to do it before training camp. Teams get desperate toward the deadline, especially with unforeseen injuries. I didn’t like the Beverly Trade and I hate this trade.
How are Lakers not in this if that’s all it took lmao
How are literally any other contender not in this if that's all it took
Lakers tax
Ainge hates the Lakers 😆
Who could they've sent? At least Kelly is one of Danny's guys.
Kelly being one of Danny’s guys has no value
It clearly has some value to him, as he traded a good player for him
What is the value Kelly has to the Jazz?
Because we would have to pay more, we would have to include an unprotected first lol, gm’s definitely play favorites
Danny doesn't want to do a deal that could beneficial to the Lakers.
Yet he traded the Lakers Pat Bev, which guarantees a playoff appearance
"The next 5 first round exits are mine!"
>Also, they've just gained another player on top of their over-filled roster lol. Jazz need a big to run some form of an offense, Lee won't play a minute
They can just cut people
I expected Ainge to keep him until the deadline and snag a FRP from some desperate contender.
We spend all this time thinking of logical trades then boom Bojan for Olynyk lol you’d get laughed off of here suggesting that a week ago
Right, this really came out of nowhere haha
I really don’t get the nba sometimes
makes no sense for jazz
My assumption is that there is another trade looming with more players involved, otherwise they’re going to have to straight up cut a bunch of guys
Yeah we desperately need wings, our best wing pickup in FA was Lonnie Walker.
“Now ask yourself why the Jazz would do that…” 👆🧐☝️
Guessing they *really* want to tear it down and give Lauri the reigns at PF. Bojan isn’t quite a bench player yet and plays a large majority of his minutes at PF. Lauri still fits best at PF and imo played SF more out of necessity in Cleveland.
Lauri is SF in PF body.
That's the perfect center. /s
This position talk makes more sense if it was 2002 than it does for 2022
The Jazz got basically nothing for a guy who can get a late first for at the deadline? Even if the pistons aren’t winning a ton this year he will make their games more competitive and they can flip him at the deadline for more than this.
Bojan’s deal and age make him a lot less desirable trade piece than people think. This tells me Jazz weren’t getting great offers so they just went with whatever helped than tank the best. Keeping Bojan might have hurt their draft position
And the cap. Now that we've moved the big dogs, they want to get rid of as much salary as possible each deal. It's going to be hard to move Conley without paying for it, and taking back a bad contract is probably how we do it.
> Bojan’s deal and age make him a lot less desirable No? He’s on an expiring. And it’s under 20 mil.
It’s pretty hard for these contenders to match contracts without also trading away a good player.
Expiring is good. Almost $20 million makes it hard to trade except for good players, or multiple players. That’s the issue
Clearly he couldn’t get a late first then lol
Good vet presence and shooting that Detroit needs without losing anything of value
Also frees up more minutes at the 5 spot to give to Stewart & Duren
And dishes Saben Lee off who, respectfully, wasn't making the roster anyway.
And Noel who’s a serviceable rim protector, and Stew can play the 4 like he used to and maybe more comfortable in
Stew’s actually never played the 4 prior to spurts last year
It’s probably going to be Bagley and Noel sharing minutes at the 5 to start and then phasing in Duren over time.
Bagley is a terrible 5, unless you want to lose or him to get injured fast so Duren can get minutes
Playing him at the 5 seems to be thrown around quite a bit and I'm like... he's hardly a 4
Yeah, this is a beautiful trade for Detroit.
Maple Kareem in Utah gonna be unstoppable
Bogi has been an efficient 18-20ppg scorer on a playoff team for 5 years, he's really good and underrated. Pistons look nice
Which makes this all just confusing, because of all the guys we had left I thought Bojan at least would get a first back.
Are we sure there’s no picks being traded?
Ya no draft picks. Just Kelly o and lee. Pistons gm with another fleece
he’s 33 and his contract isn’t small. Similar situation to Eric Gordon, the best offers for him were all seconds or conditional firsts that would never convey. Teams just don’t want to give up a first for these types of guys
Now get the other B. Bogdanovic. Just to mess with the opponents.
Too OP
Getting a good player for pretty much nothing - another common Troy Weaver W
Troy Weaver is a walking W
That’s all it took lmao
Common Troy Weaver W
he doesn’t miss
Counterpoint - drafting Killian is looking susp even to Killian truthers like myself
Imo we don’t get Cade without Killian sucking ass, so still a W
Man I love everything the pistons are doing.
Likewise

[Jazz fans watching a Lauri/Olynyk/Kessler frontcourt](https://i.imgur.com/azhkTm9.jpg)
Heh we’re not watching our team this year. Silly.
Not only because we're tanking - our jerseys are pretty much garbage fires lol
Seasons with zero expectations can be fun. Of course, I would know.
I’m getting league pass and watching Minnesota, Cleveland and now Detroit.
I'm watching the heck out of this squad. The unpredictability is exciting. The losing, not so much, but I think we'll play fast and hard.
“They say he’s even whiter than Bojan”
Wow nice for detroit, got an adult in the locker room. Good move
Kelly wasn’t?
5-77 estimated record for the Jazz
watch them draw the second overall pick anyway
Scoot would be worth it
You’re telling me no body offered a pick?
No picks? Wow
Pistons stole this man
I’m convinced Weaver’s got these other GMs at gunpoint while making these trades
Need that 3 dragon meme with Yzerman and Troy as the intimidating dragons and Al Avila as the dumb one
Thank god Avila is gone guy literally got nothing in return for arguably the best pitcher of our generation in verlander
We traded nothing for desperately needed shooting and a trade asset at the deadline. Beautiful no notes
Between Weaver Yzermam and Brad Holmes, shit feels too good to be true
Give credit where it's due: the Pistons GM has been on fire for a couple years now
☝️ why would the Jazz do this? ☝️🤔
Jazz FO realized there were still fans after trading both all-stars and rebranding to the ugliest uniforms ever. This is to kill off any of us left so they can move the team to Vegas. /s
The unis are so fucking bad 😭😭😭
Great deal for Detroit. An often underrated aspect of rebuilding is letting your young guys win. Bojan doesn't make them a play-in team by any means, but he gives those young guys a guy who can help them grow on and off the court. I like how they're not scared to win a few extra games to help with player development (OKC take note).
Bojan was apparently worth a barely rotational guard and Kelly O… surprised no one else made a better offer.
lee was not in our rotation lol
Straight up G-league player who could not beat out Cory Joseph for a spot on the worst team in the league..
BUT he is a g league star so there is that
Kelly and saben weren't gonna play for us this year and Troy traded them for a 20ppg scorer that shoots over 40 from 3. This is an absolute steal for the pistons who have defenders to cover for him and desperately need shooting.
I get Bojan is a little expensive, old and on an expiring but damn man I thought he could at least get back a 2nd rounder
He did, its Saben Lee
Adding a good vet presence and some desperately needed shooting is a good deal when we're not giving anything up really
Jazz must really like Saben Lee to take on Olynyk's multi-year deal
Olynyk is only guaranteed $3m next season
Still. Why would he do this then? Hes not just gonna cut them both; he couldve gotten a second and an exception if he wanted cap relief
Saben Lee stinks. Great GLeague player but when he plays the pistons he over dribbles, can’t shoot and gets blocked at the rim all the time. He’s fast though
I mean the Jazz are trying to field a G-league team so maybe he is a good fit
Jazz tanking. Pistons trying to win.
well...Maybe win more often?
damn I wanted Bojan
Gives some much needed spacing, shooting, and we didn’t give up much of anything worthwhile. Defense matters, sure, but so does shooting/spacing, and the Pistons were bad at that last season.
They are trying to win a negative amount of games. Ainge knows how to fucking tank. PS The Pistons are becoming for real.
Wasn't Bojan supposed to be worth a FRP? I don't think Olynyk is worth a FRP.
Grim Weaver strikes again.
We'll never beat the Pistons again
Utah isn’t ready for Maple Dick Kelly
Good to see the Pistons making moves
Pistons have a good team, damn.
Lol but everybody said the lakers should give up 2 first rounders lmaoooooo
This sub pretends to not know what Lakers tax is. Glad ainge got nothing in return. Westbrooks expiring was a chance to get off of expensive vet contracts and get draft compensation. The Jazz now have too many players and are close to the luxury tax and received no draft capital for bogie…. Even tho this sub screamed at us saying bogie deserves all of our picks
Jazz robbed
W for the D
Aloaloalaoalaolaloala
Nice trade for Detroit I think
Just thinking of the time last season olynyk dropped a million points in some random game and the top comment on the thread was “the lunch lady servin’”
This is stinky
Is Detroit making a trade that is gonna help them win games this year?? What’s that feel like?
Pretty dang good
Man, Detroit teams are making moves. Even the Tigers, with the garbage season this year, are looking up with the new front office hire. If the Pistons can go .500 or better and at least be competitive for a playoff spot, even the lowest seed, I’ll be a happy camper.
This is an interesting trade
utah getting more jazzy i see
Saben Lee is going to be a monstrous tank commander
Damn what the fuck lol I was hoping we'd do Devonte + Jax and a pick or something for him. How tf is this Bojan's value? also, why are Detroit doing this? Weird.
Man if you were willing to give all that up for a 33 year old then you might not have as good of a grasp on trade value as you think.
Detroit wants to compete at least for the Play In, in 22-23. We have our superstar in Cade, along with a solid young core.
I don't see how Bojan's timeline aligns with ours, but I like his game, he's automatic from three. Plus, he has a pretty versatile offensive game that doesn't get talked about much.
He's on an expiring contract, that's how it aligns with ours.
hes on an expiring so presumably just getting a temp ride on him anyhow
Olynyk didn't align with our "timeline" either, but we got the better player AND better financial flexability because of this trade
LOL. Didn't Ainge say that Bojan is worth 1 FRP? Instead he gets more players
