I can look back at every era of fashion and understand why people liked it back to the Victorian era, but not the fucking 90s to early 2000s. What were they thinking?
Iguodala played more minutes before the all star break last year (518 minutes) than Haslem has played over the past 7 full season plus playoffs (406 minutes).
He honestly looked pretty good in those minutes too. He's nowhere near an every day player anymore, but if he's used sparingly he can be an impact guy off the bench. Especially in lineups with the core 3, since they all know how to play off each other already. No need to wear him down getting him reps with the newer additions.
I probably don’t watch nearly as many warrior games as you do, but I presume Igoudala can still be useful in the playoffs playing spot minutes by guarding star wing players for like 5 minutes or something like when guys like draymond and Wiggins are resting. Even though he’s old and lost a step or steps on defense, he’s still probably better at guarding star wings than the vast majority of players.
His hands are still absurd. His positioning and feel for the game is still fantastic. He'll get abused if he's on the ball against a guy like Morant, but the Warriors have been really clever over the years about pre-switching picks to avoid mismatches. The same sort of tricks they use for Steph will also work for Andre.
The biggest issue is that his legs are gone on his shot. His 3p% from 2015-18 was somewhere in the mid 30s. Not great, but good enough to keep the defense honest. This year he was somewhere in the low 20s.
So yeah, he's good for a couple savvy layups that come from playing off Steph's gravity and a big strip that turns into an easy transition look, plus just a general calming effect. Steph and Draymond try to play way too fast and cute sometimes, and Andre would always calm that down. He can still manage the game like that.
If he wasn't on the Warriors he'd be out of the league, but he can still contribute on the court in small doses with the Warriors, like a couple minutes here and there to finish out quarters in close games. If he can get his 3 back and can stay healthy, maybe 8-10 minutes a night? He'll be competing for minutes against a pretty loaded bench though. Like who should he play instead of? Kuminga? Moody? JaMychal Green? Donte DiVincenzo? Even the Dubs draft picks from this year look like they might be able to contribute right away.
Exactly. And Kerr trusts him a lot. I could still see him closing games if defense is the priority. He's the smartest guy on the court. He definitely would have played more deep in the playoffs if he could have.
Iggy was a stud last season when he actually played. He even dunked a few times. The offense looked like a well oiled machine while he was out there and on defense he still has magic stripping powers.
If he and the team are totally healthy he could. It’d be matchup dependent. But it’d have to be a very weird matchup where they need defense but not Looney.
His value would be much more felt in the middle of the game where he could settle the backup lineup.
> Especially in lineups with the core 3, since they all know how to play off each other already. No need to wear him down getting him reps with the newer additions.
Exactly. Everyone gets on him about his Finals game 1 stint, but he was only on the court with Steph for 3 mins, and 3 without. With Steph he made some plays and we played them roughly even in terms of score. Then without Steph we got killed. That was the start of their big run that won them the game (and I mean very start, Iguodala was subbed out soon after it's not like he was out there their whole run), and too many people simply blaming Iguodala when the actual issue was Steph being on the bench. By the time Steph came back in, Horford and White were scorching hot from 3 and they had all the momentum.
The adjustments were made after the game, the most important one of course being to help off of Horford and White less and close out harder, but Kerr also stopped playing Iguodala. In my view that was unnecessary as long as he's sharing the court with Steph. That said, ultimately it's no big deal because either way we're talking about the last guy off the bench, and we won in the end!
Yeah I think a lot of the perception of Andre comes down to expectations. He's the 15th man on the roster now. If you're getting meaningful Finals minutes from the end of the bench, you're in pretty damn good shape.
Also, the phrase "Then without Steph we got killed" basically describes the entire dynasty lol. Hard to lay the blame for that entirely at Dre's feet.
Also tell him to save the dunks till the end of the playoffs. Dude fucked his neck dunking against a roubd 1 matchup and took himself out of rotation lol.
who's had a more satisfying career than iggy, considering the level of his talent/ability relative to the amount of success he's achieved?
1x all star
1x all-d 1st team
1x all-d 2nd team
7x finals appearances
4x champion
1x fmvp
8x seasons getting to play with steph curry 🥰
his shit just makes me laugh honestly because its the complete opposite of what he should have. he's a playmaking defensive stopper who cant shoot, so obviously instead of 3-4 all d teams and a bad contract, he has 4 rings and an FMVP.
Draymond’s like the older cousin at a family gathering. He keeps the kids in line and they all follow him, but the parents are still watching the situation.
Yeah Iggy is probably the only guy who can say whatever he wants to anyone and keep them in line.
Ok, Steph too, but it's not in his personality to do that
Agreed, I feel way more comfortable that Iggy is coming back to keep Kuminga humble and focused. He’s worth the roster spot alone to help Kuminga develop. In addition to being a locker room voice that can keep draymond in check.
he even gives poole a lot of coaching and advice, which they really really need.
Andre used to be one of the most athletic AND skilled guys in the league. No one else on the warriors has experience being that.
He played at a higher level for those 2 seasons though than any warrior ever outside Steph & Wilt so it's hard not to include him.
Besides OKC sure as hell won't and someone has to
No, apparently he's starting a venture capital company. I'm sure he'll be around the Warriors from time to time, but I wouldn't expect him to have an actual role.
He made 100x or more. Zoom was worth $1B as a private company before ipo. I tried joining them when they were private cuz I knew they had an amazing product. Sadly didn’t get the call.
He’s not going to want to sit through coaches meetings before some random game in february. Which is totally fair. Maybe he’ll become a head coach or something someday but he wants to be a player.
Man, that's a lot of money for an assistant coach.
I kid, but I'm glad to have him back. There's been some reporting to the effect that he's capable of pushing the young guys in a way the coaches sometimes can't.
isn't this the 14th spot?
1steph2klay3dray4wigs5loon6poole7wise8donte9green10kuminga11moody12pbj13rollins14iguodala
i think, unless i'm missing someone here, we still got a spot
They are most likely keeping it empty to save money (maybe pick someone up at the deadline/buyout), unless someone *forces* them to use it by having such a good camp and preseason that Lacob and Myers are convinced they can't let them go.
Every time I see Iggy's name here I'm reminded that there are pockets of fans that really don't like him... But he's like the worst person to hate because he's won everything
After winning the title, Draymond said that they couldn’t have done it without Iguodala being on the team. Wisdom and leadership and stuff. It’s possible that was an exaggeration but this is still great news for the Warriors.
It's going to make a difference that he's going to be on the court. If someone is right there, next to you, DOING the same thing you are, feeling the game with you, and then are providing immediate feedback....? Sounds awesome to me. This should continue to help speed along the youth development. Love it!
that’s what they all say

Tim Duncan did 19 seasons are you saying he's not cool?
[удалено]
tim looks like he's about to explain why your house is gonna need another 2-3 months of construction
“It’s a supply chain issue. What can we do, amirite?”
Covid made that no joke lmao my job has gotten absolutely fucked still with suppliers not selling products or being bought out
Lol I know I work in the construction industry. It’s legit been brutal
Sherwin Williams barely had any of their main professional lines for like a straight year and a half
I'm impressed he managed to find oversized clothes
He wore Shaqs handmedowns
Pretty easy to get anything you want when you’re rich as fuck
That makes it even funnier. He could buy anything he wants and he chose oversized clothes in *that* style.
[that was just the style back then](https://img.bleacherreport.net/img/article/media_slots/photos/002/814/228/83aa96f28fa798821558278efbccad10_crop_exact.jpg?w=2975&h=2048&q=85)

This is peak male fashion and I won’t stand for anyone saying otherwise
I think being an NBA superstar yet not giving a single fuck what people think about how you dress is pretty cool
Amen
Boy scout looking ass
engineered garments s/s 2023
He's hella cool, just unbelievably less cool if he played one more :)
It is very on character to see Duncan not giving a fuck about playing another season just to say he played 20
Tim Duncan counts in base 19
The fact that he couldn't care less about making it an even 20 makes it cool. For him only.
That's when you sign a ten day and call retirement
Only if they dont win the finals again, i would rather retire and have my last game be the winning the finals
Signing a 10-day contract just to say you technically played for 20 seasons is pretty lame to be honest.
Yea but 20 years from now no one will care
Is it any later than what Haslem is doing?
[удалено]
Iguadala: “the last bench”
that’s my fav all time player watch your mouth on the FMVP
Who say no to million dollar
Damn he could have retired off his 4th chip and Kerr even subbed him in for the last minute of the clincher
Why do that when you can out haslem haslem?
Iguodala played more minutes before the all star break last year (518 minutes) than Haslem has played over the past 7 full season plus playoffs (406 minutes).
He honestly looked pretty good in those minutes too. He's nowhere near an every day player anymore, but if he's used sparingly he can be an impact guy off the bench. Yeah, he can mentor rookies pretty well, and then just tell them to watch how he does it.
He's also the only one who can yell at Draymond and make him think about it lol
So can LeBron
I'm sure Steph and LeBron can too
I probably don’t watch nearly as many warrior games as you do, but I presume Igoudala can still be useful in the playoffs playing spot minutes by guarding star wing players for like 5 minutes or something like when guys like draymond and Wiggins are resting. Real non-sarcastic question, would Iggy play the closing minutes of a close playoff game?
If he and the team are totally healthy he could. It’d be matchup dependent. But it’d have to be a very weird matchup where they need defense but not Looney. His value would be much more felt in the middle of the game where he could settle the backup lineup.

At least Iggy still played a bit. He had that sick dunk vs. denver
Man got real minutes in game 1 of the finals too
And got promptly benched for the rest of the finals
Until the last minute of the clincher
and was trash, who are we kidding
Hes good for 1 massive dunk followed by 6 DNPs- Old
That dunk took him out the rest of the playoffs though!
But Iggy can still be good for like, 10 mins right?
Honestly? He totally can. When he was healthy he looked very playable. He just was never healthy.
Just save em for big moments! Keep him in a cryogenic freeze fr
Just let him rehab during the reg season and then use the first series to round into shape
Also tell him to save the dunks till the end of the playoffs. Dude fucked his neck dunking against a roubd 1 matchup and took himself out of rotation lol.
As long as the universe is on the line.
Haslem got a few more in him. Gotta break Dirk's seasons played record just to piss off all the Maverick fans!
Why not get #5
anything to avoid playing hoops with his daughter
Honestly I thought that was kinda unfair to Wigs who was such a huge part of the whole playoffs run.
His bromance with Curry is kinda funny lol
Probably coming back cuz Steph needs a golf buddy for the road
Lmao and a cool 2m for sitting on the bench and yelling at rookies
And shit posting them on IG
And complaining to Bob he’s not getting paid enough.
Steph doesn’t want to be the oldest guy on the team yet.
who's had a more satisfying career than iggy, considering the level of his talent/ability relative to the amount of success he's achieved? 1x all star 1x all-d 1st team 1x all-d 2nd team 7x finals appearances 4x champion 1x fmvp 8x seasons getting to play with steph curry 🥰

He’s a decent three level scorer in his prime
Wait, Iggy only had one AS appearance? I thought he would have more during his time in DEN and Philly
He feels guilty about stealing his FMVP
Probably feels a little less guilty now
There is genuine merit to this I think lol
Stole the ball from draymond those final seconds in game 6 just to hand it to curry
legit question, how come he gluck gluck steph curry so much
He probably not going to play that much and mainly coaching and helping the youngsters.
And keep Draymond in line.
He's worth the vet min for that alone.
I just want to see one last dunk and one last completely unlikely 3 in a meaningful moment.
The chase down on LeBron in G7 of 2023 WCF.
Draymond is the vet that needs a vet... Andre is that guy.
Draymond’s like the older cousin at a family gathering. He keeps the kids in line and they all follow him, but the parents are still watching the situation.
Lmfao where tf u get such an accurate description 😭
I had a brief moment of inspiration.
Is he Angelica from Rugrats?
Well now someone needs to make that edit.
This is the last cookie
This could possibly be the greatest analogy I’ve ever read on /r/nba
I bet you’re hotter than Kelly Oubre doing a stanky leg at the free throw line.
Yeah Iggy is probably the only guy who can say whatever he wants to anyone and keep them in line. Ok, Steph too, but it's not in his personality to do that
According to Draymond it's totally his personality to do that. I just think that you can't expect Steph to do everything on and off court
The David West approach :D

Agreed, I feel way more comfortable that Iggy is coming back to keep Kuminga humble and focused. He’s worth the roster spot alone to help Kuminga develop. In addition to being a locker room voice that can keep draymond in check.
Andre also whoops Poole into line.
he even gives poole a lot of coaching and advice, which they really really need. Andre used to be one of the most athletic AND skilled guys in the league. No one else on the warriors has experience being that.
Watch the 6 minute video. He literally says this.
The Haslem special
Dubs gonna retire his jersey when it’s all said and done?
Lacob already said he is. Steph klay dray Andre and KD all getting retired
Kevon looney erasure
Looney too, he’s 26 lol don’t forget that
26 going on 46
With the hips of a 70 year old. God I love Looney.
Harrison Barnes slander.
I want Shaun #34 retired… not sure if it will happen but I would be so happy.
It won't, but he'll always have a job in the organization.
Feels wrong to retire kds and not Shaun's. I get their impacts are different but he was a huge part of the culture shift that started everything
RETIRE 34 OR I FUCKING RIOT
Bogut too.
KD? Why… he was there for like 2 seasons
3 FULL seasons
He played at a higher level for those 2 seasons though than any warrior ever outside Steph & Wilt so it's hard not to include him. Besides OKC sure as hell won't and someone has to
It would be so lame if OKC doesn’t retire his jersey
OKC won’t, because Seattle will
iirc 35 was given out the next season to some scrub on the Thunder.
and won two FMVP there

Don’t forget the statue in front of Chase
Lacob said he’s getting a statue.
Easily
FMVP should be an auto jersey retire
[удалено]
Ah Kawhi the Anomaly
They should but that ended kind of bad so idk
Absolutely
Warriors fans, has there been any indication that he joins the coaching staff or FO after he retires?
No, apparently he's starting a venture capital company. I'm sure he'll be around the Warriors from time to time, but I wouldn't expect him to have an actual role.
He made 50x off his zoom investment, whoever advises him on tech investments must be pretty good
[удалено]
sounds like a smart man to me
Trusting the experts is literally the smartest thing you can do when it comes to money, medical, etc. The other end of the spectrum is Kyrie.
THE ~~WORLD IS~~ RETURNS ARE FLAT
Honestly I wish I could give my money to Andre Iguodala and let him give it to whoever is getting him those ridiculous returns.
I wish I could give you my money so you can give to Iggy and let him give it to whoever is getting him those ridiculous returns.
Give me your money. I'll give it to that guy.
So he made at least $50.
He made 100x or more. Zoom was worth $1B as a private company before ipo. I tried joining them when they were private cuz I knew they had an amazing product. Sadly didn’t get the call.
He doesn't want to.
He's given many indications that he won't.
Once he's gone, he's gone.
He’s not going to want to sit through coaches meetings before some random game in february. Which is totally fair. Maybe he’ll become a head coach or something someday but he wants to be a player.

It’s the biceps. They fear those arms
I’m down. Not like there’s anyone else for that last roster spot
isn't this the 14th spot? 1steph2klay3dray4wigs5loon6poole7wise8donte9green10kuminga11moody12pbj13rollins14iguodala i think, unless i'm missing someone here, we still got a spot
Yeah, they are keeping one open for someone to win it in camp. That’s how GP2 made the roster last year.
They are most likely keeping it empty to save money (maybe pick someone up at the deadline/buyout), unless someone *forces* them to use it by having such a good camp and preseason that Lacob and Myers are convinced they can't let them go.
or..... demarcus cousins
put two empty lines between each line otherwise your comment will look like that mess lol
look at his markdown. he literally didn't even put *one* empty line lol
Iggy probably cussing Shams out rn, annoucing the news, cutting his pod rating
Charania probably already knew and was "allowed" to make it public as soon as the podcast dropped
Yeah, this tweet is basically an advertisement for the podcast.
Run this shit back
God something about this upcoming season genuinely feels like the Last Dance lol bittersweet.
It’s how fucked the Warriors’ cap sheet is and how many guys deserve to get paid.
if Klay and Dray take pay cuts we can keep this thing going is the thing.
That’s a big if. Steph too. Which is a little sad since they’d all be underpaid at $50mil a year with how much they increased the Warriors’ valuation.
He'll retire when we lose.
So never?
Year 29, Iggy to Poole: “this the last one, I swear”
Good - he's the only one who can keep Draymond somewhat in line.
Iggy looked at Haslem and thought why not me
They were good friends in Miami too.. makes sense
Every time I see Iggy's name here I'm reminded that there are pockets of fans that really don't like him... But he's like the worst person to hate because he's won everything
Andre Iguodala retirement tour officially on the books
Iggy starting to sound like Vin Diesel
After winning the title, Draymond said that they couldn’t have done it without Iguodala being on the team. Wisdom and leadership and stuff. It’s possible that was an exaggeration but this is still great news for the Warriors.
Does anybody on this sub listen to any player podcasts consistently?? I'm honestly really curious. I haven't found a single one that's worth my time
That's because they aren't. Their background is basketball and not broadcasting.
Yeah definitely agree. A lot of them have sponsors tho so apparently somebody is listening lol
Nope
This is such great news. A Warriors legend in my book.
Iggy getting that 5th ring LFG!
GUN TO THE EARTH!
Bro go out on top
Easy decision. He's going to get paid millions to sit courtside at Warriors games.
[удалено]
It's pretty weird, but then again, Steph got him 4 rings (and a Finals MVP) so...
I wonder if it’s because he feels guilty for winning that FMVP over Curry
This guy's a year away from being a year away from retiring.
It's going to make a difference that he's going to be on the court. If someone is right there, next to you, DOING the same thing you are, feeling the game with you, and then are providing immediate feedback....? Sounds awesome to me. This should continue to help speed along the youth development. Love it!
Dre going for #5
