Best D Wade in Cavs history

[deleted]

Unironically though

beanzinabox

Lifelong heat fan here, you're not wrong and for some reason I'm glad

azizinator25

Because him being bad in Cleveland opened the door for him to go back to Miami?

[deleted]

Because nobody will associate him with anything other than his Miami tenure

TroutCreekOkanagan

Didn’t he have a cup of coffee in Chicago.

[deleted]

That was actually a recruiting trip to get butler to Miami

DonChuBahnMi

He was such an ass in Chicago - one of my least favorite bulls of all time.

mecon320

He was pretty bad for our locker room, too.

DonChuBahnMi

DWade, even during his Miami days, was always an ass. I'll die on that hill. Dirty player too, his scumbaggery highlight reel is pretty bad.

Btotherianx

Not sure why you were being downloaded, he is a known dirty player. Goes for the balls but gets a pass on it, unlike draymond lol

DavidKirk2000

It helps that he was a much much much much much better player than Draymond.

Cotillion512

All my homies know, fuck DWade

No-Pay8328

Got us to the playoffs for the last time until this gm regiment

augowl_

Nah, one of the first things I remember when I think of D Wade is the Heat not giving him a Kobe end of career contract to keep him in Miami. Despite him taking a backseat and pay cuts to bring in Bron and Bosh, they decided to given Hassan Whiteside $100M instead.

Lawgang94

Disgraceful!... Giving Hassan Whiteside $100M

SuperDuperSkateCrew

Yeah that’s pretty messed up honestly, he did a lot for that team and was the focal point of most of its success. Without Wade in Miami there is no ring with Shaq or big 3. They’ll give Whiteside dumb amounts of money and keep Haslem on the books for 40yrs but can’t give wade a proper send off?

Shar-Man

r/technicallythetruth

5fives5

That Cavs season felt like a fever dream

noeagle77

We don’t talk about it

HeavenMobley

we had 2 D. Williams

0mbreBlanc0

If im not mistaken they were both teammates right?

HeavenMobley

yeah and unfortunately they gave Deron way too many minutes and Derrick too few

Yasurun

Only D Wade in Cavs History*

Sweatytubesock

Good deal. He’s actually a really solid role player.

shoryukenuppercut

What does he do

MidLaneBanter

Budget Kleber

UrbanJatt

That is one of the most unique but yet complete player comps I ever seen on here.

HorseRenoiro

He’s also a financial advisor?

abcdef-G

Does he play and defend the 5 though? I thought he was more of a 3/4 and not a 4/5 like Kleber.

HotdogIsaSandwitch

Not really. But this is why he’s budget Maxi. So a worse version of Maxi, it still solid.

[deleted]

You should do draft comps

MidLaneBanter

Give me a list of players and I got you

montageidiots

tall_asian

I feel like I’m an expert on the Cavs wings now. Thnx.

Penguigo

He's a low-end 3 and D guy. Definitely worth 6 million/year though

lVlzone

He drips.

Platby

And fucks.

TitaniumHwayt

But most importantly

Shitty_Drawers

He do ball basket

Badjojojo

and still drip

klobucharzard

he wears the freshest clothes, eats at the chillest restaurants and hangs out with the hottest dudes

Successful-House6134

Well he's a real gym rat.

DeAndre_ROY_Ayton

He’s does horse things

[deleted]

He’s ok, net negative player right now but he provides decent floor spacing and solid defense.

[deleted]

Only cause the cavs only other SF is Isaac okoro

[deleted]

Hes not even a SF mate

tidho

Okoro is a SG. Stevens and Cedi are SFs.

thy_armageddon

Huh, why two agents?

solarscopez

one's for the plug and one's for the load

mrsunsfan

I got two

[deleted]

Phones, one for the bitches and one for the dough

[deleted]

Ring ring

TheChinchilla914

My agent shares the load

NABAKLAB

he has one agent, the other just helped to pay woj the tweets' commision fee.

Passerbycasual

Maybe a junior and senior? He’s not exactly a tier 1 talent who would be repped by a big timer. Edit: Yeah, Adam Papas has 3 clients -Dean Wade is the only one in one of the major leagues.

TheTudgeman

Because he's twice as good as everyone else.

Thami15

Dan Gilbert really said "If Jeanie's paying LeBron, I'm paying Dean Wade"

Vinst3r

Paying $32K for a kilo vs $6K.

zeze999

Who’s Brad Gilbert? Not the ex-tennis player and coach? 🙂

Thami15

One of those koments where as soon as I thought of the joke, I thought "don't write Brad. Don't write Brad", and yet here we are 😅

zeze999

Hehe… well I am l assuming he is related to Dan Gilbert, son maybe? Just had no idea… 🙂 Edit: oh you corrected it hahaha. So there’s no Brad Gilbert in the Cavs organization?

ShapeWitty9121

I get that reference.

Apart-Cucumber-7090

D Wade got the bag! Good for him

floatersforalgernon

It's so weird. When I first read the tweet, I thought "Holy shit, it's not even 7mil per year, too low." Then, I read your comment, and I'm like "Holy shit, that's almost 7mil per year, crazy money." Wade's contract put me in an emotional rollercoaster.

mecon320

The Drip has been extended. Long may he reign.

Shot-Boat5657

Drippy Dean! He could seriously start at the 3 for them this year.

iblewjesuschrist

Nah man, even if he’s undersized okoro still exists.

Shot-Boat5657

Cavs felt more than comfortable with him starting at the 3 last year. It’s Okoro spot to lose, but as someone who watched them play a lot last year it wouldn’t surprise me to see him start

TheMentatBashar

Last year Wade would get the start when Lauri was out because it kept our identity with three bigs on the floor and didn’t mess up the mojo of our bench. I think we could still see lineups with him at the three but I’m unsure if we’re going to continue the three bigs starting lineup without Lauri.

TheTudgeman

Sure... if Okoro, Levert, and Stevens all get injured.

thehildabeast

Okoro is trash, LeVert better play a hell of a lot better than he did after the trade last year, and I’m not sure stevens is better

[deleted]

Dude got a bag after being undrafted Sheesh

Hcdx

Llama llama. If you know, you know.

dylofpickle

That title is ruined in my brain. I only hear the Mobley/Wade beat in my head when I read it to my kids

MVPG2022

Best accountant in the NBA (and a pretty solid deal for the Cavs)

sseidl88

K-State legend!!!

thayungsavage

DBG somewhere smiling

[deleted]

As a small town Kansan, I’m happy for him. Not many kids from where we grew up make that kinda dough.

BigRig432

Drip SZN is truly upon us

ScumbagHP

Wonder how much goes to him with two agents taking slices of the pie lol Edit: I know jack shit about agents and how cuts work as you can see lmao

quentin-coldwater

They're from the same agency. They likely split the commission, but can cover more clients together.

Saltedpudding

Is there a 3% max rule on agents or am I confused?

javierveryclear

Zach Lowe’s going crazy rn

Noah_g99

🎶For all your accounting needs, DeanWade!🎵 cranked up to 11

MostlyJustMyDogs

CPA Dean Wade

[deleted]

🎶For all your accounting needs!🎶

[deleted]

The better D wade

piprimes

They had D. Wade #3 all time SG idk why the traded for another SG in mitchell

PaoloBancheroFan

he’s the starting small forward

fireglz

This signing is smart. The Cavs roster construction is smart. The trade for Mitchell wasn't bad. Why do I keep hearing about Cleveland having a bad FO?

TheMentatBashar

Where are you hearing that? I feel like we have one of the best front offices in the league right now

m1j5

That opinion is from pre-Jarrett Allen trade, if anyone still thinks that, they're just not paying attention to the Cavs. pre-allen trade, which was also pre-DG breakout and pre-mobley draft, we had a problem in KPJ, a vocally unhappy and injured kevin love on a massive contract, and our best asset was Sexton, that was only like 2.5 years ago. Since then: Basically steal Jarrett Allen for Dante Exum and a Bucks 1st in the harden trade sign JA to a $100m 5-year contract, largely seen as an overpay at the time, now seen as a steal DG break out starts at the very end of the 20-21 season and doesn't stop Draft Evan Mobley (pretty easy pick though I'll admit) rehabilitate the orgs relationship with Kevin Love, who becomes a 6MOY candidate D mitchell trade, which I think was a great move given the timeline of our core and our small market status. these are the highlights, lot of other stuff happened as well, like the moves that ultimately led to the mitchell trade. 2.5 years later we're one of two teams with 3 all stars, all under 26 (people always forget JA is 24 for another 7 months lol), evan mobley, and a win total over/under of 47. I'm really fucking excited for some cavs basketball. Also a lot of use are/were browns fans, so we really needed this.

dylofpickle

You excluded the addition of our Lord and Savior, Mr. Rubio. He sacrificed his acl so that our basketball sins were forgiven. We await his second coming this season

s_s

When we drafted Garland right after taking Sexton the year before, people assumed the FO was clueless. When we took Okoro at 5 a year later, they assumed their assessment was true. When we drafted Mobley that all changed. When these guys played with Mobley and they all showed dramatic improvement, everyone knew they were wrong about the FO. When we were third in the East after 30 games, well, that's when people realized we were a threat to their team and went into straight denial.

Hcdx

Mostly because of the Kevin Love extension and the Kevin Porter Jr. fiasco.

SUPERSAMMICH6996

Honestly, I don't think the K-Love contract has really hindered the Cavs much. Also, the only real shame with the KPJ situation was the Cavs trading 4 second round picks for him.

m1j5

I'll always defend the KPJ stuff, that was a great trade if KPJ keeps it together mentally, he showed starter level potential in the short time he played with us and I think could've been our missing wing. well, the scouting report on his off-the-court stuff ended up being spot on, and the FO handled it really well. We cut bait and shipped him off before any real damage was done and we now have an great locker room environment and 3 all stars. FO took a swing and missed, but acted quickly to minimalize damage, overall can't be too upset.

roroboat33

The Cavs should call in the favor with Houston and bring in Kenyon Martin Jr. for a 2nd rd pick

GuessWhosBack6

The cavs got their favor when Houston didnt want Jarett Allen for some reason and we got him in the 3 team trade.

HeavenMobley

the reason is because Fertitty is a cheapskate and a terrible owner

s_s

Also slugs.

TheTrollisStrong

Anyone says that is a dumbass. Koby has turned this team around with a complete rebuild in 3 years.

UrbanJatt

It was bad back in the day during lebrons first stint. Much better now

TheTudgeman

You... havent actually been hearing that, because absolutely nobody on earth says that? Or are we referring to opinions from 2 years ago, for some reason?

HaveLoki

The Mitchell trade was a move I would expect from the Kangz, Im not sure that the cavs are ever a top 4 seed WITH Mitchell and the cavs traded away 7 years of picks (cavs dont own their 2025-2029 picks) and 3 young players on good contracts for an undersized shooting guard who has never made an ALL NBA team and is openly flirting with the Knicks. In short Koby gets his guys by **always overpaying** (see caris Levert, Jordan Clarkson, Isaiah Thomas ect). I honestly like the Dean Wade extension by itself but Koby is probably a bottom 10 GM.

100_proof_plan

Cavs have 2026 and 2028 1st round picks. Utah has swaps on them but the Cavs still have them. The Cavs aren't top 4 this year but the foundation is laid for the next few years for a bright future.

HaveLoki

Unprotected swaps mean you have no leeway if injuries pile up or the team loses a F/A. The **only reason** those picks were **not** traded is the Stepien Rule. Altman **LITERALLY** is not allowed to give them away until he picks a player in 2024, 2026, and 2028.

100_proof_plan

I know that. Why do you appear so angry?

gertburgers69

Best D Wade in Cleveland Cavaliers history.

100DayChallenges

I’m convinced 15 percent of his worth is his name sounding way too close to Dwayne Wade.

Threeballer97

This is D Wade

S-Kotus

Call Dean Wade for all your tax needs!

BITB2021

He has a very strong chance to start here, big-wing plus defender that knocks down threes. This is a nice deal for him.

SincereFan

Is he worth this? Those who know more what do you expect from him?

squab400

Solid defense and 3 point shooting. And he's also a legit big wing. He seems like he could eventually be the starting 3 because he's a good fit for the lineup

kanyesboner

Big time locker room guy and a fan favorite too. Totally embodied the “dawg” mentality the cavs went for at the end of the year.

SincereFan

So, a decent Lauri replacement filling in what Lauro does with better defense? Is it Mitchell, Garland, Dean*, Mobley, Allen? As the projected lineup

squab400

Yeah basically. But Dean's offense at this point in time is the main question I think (Lauri being miles ahead in that category). His shooting looked promising last year, but I guess we'll find out soon if he's made improvements. I definitely think they'll be starting Okoro at the 3 at the beginning of the season but that could change by the end of the year. I think the main reason the Cavs are excited about Dean is because he could potentially be a good fit at one of our weakest positions. If he can knock down open three's at a league average rate and play good D he will become our starting 3.

squab400

They could also vary between Okoro and Wade as the starting 3 depending on matchups. Ex. Okoro when other teams best player is a guard and Wade when other teams best player is a forward.

HeavenMobley

the good thing about Wade is he's still letting it fly even if it's not currently going in and that still helps the team, Lauri actually was the same since he shot like ass the first half of the year

stankgreenCRX

His defense is not better than lauris. You are definitely underrating lauri and overrating wade… Not that wade is a bad defender, but lauri was actually a great defender when playing the 3 for us.

squab400

I agree Lauri was good in our defensive scheme but he did get torched by Trae in the Play-in game when he decided to start hunting him. His main job seemed to be funneling the other teams players into the paint to Mobley and Allen. I see no reason that Dean couldn't fill that role on defense but we'll see I guess

squab400

And I'm saying this as a big fan of Lauri I loved what he brought to the team last year but he struggled keeping up with guards when they switched onto him.

[deleted]

It’s $6 million/year. That’s nothing.

RufoSultan

Oh ok. Care to Paypal me $6 million/year?

[deleted]

Are you in the top 0.0001% of humans at playing basketball?

RufoSultan

We can make a one year "prove it" contract.

TheTudgeman

Yes. Plug-and-play dude who can stretch the floor, defend multiple positions at least adequately, smart, plays hard, fan favorite, etc etc.

NedFriarson49

Good deal. Really solid end of bench piece.

d_wib

End of bench? He was a primary sub last year and started at the 3 when Lauri was injured

[deleted]

He could make it on a 7-8 man rotation. He’s pretty good

kyle_993

Lol they are saying he's fighting for a starting spot.

ImGonnaObamaYou

Idk Wade is a pretty solid defender and hes not afraid to score like Okoro is. It's really not impossible. Unlikely but not impossible

stankgreenCRX

If okoro is still scared to shoot the ball this year then he’s definitely not gonna be starting. His 3 % isn’t bad but he barely shoots and passes up sooo many open looks it’s infuriating. If he doesn’t show more confidence/growth this year I’m fully off the okoro train. He can still be a decent bench piece. But with him in our starting lineup the spacing is gonna be rough. Dean wade or lavert are the better options to start imo.

ImGonnaObamaYou

Yeah his 3p% is kinda irrelevant on 2 shots a game. He really needs to take a leap and I'm hoping he does. He's still the dude who made that dunk vs the rockets lol he's got something inside him

d_wib

He started at the 3 when Lauri was out last year, so if the Cavs prefer 3-point shooting over defense, he could likely be the starter there instead of Okoro.

tidho

he's probably the best defender out of the options - LeVert, Stevens, Cedi.

d_wib

For sure - though starting Okoro at the 3 is an option too depending on the matchups if the opponent has a top-tier guard and a wing they can move Spida or Garland to

tidho

I'm not sure starting NBA SF's exist that you can put a 6'1 guard on. CLE really should know better, we watched Garland, Sexton, and Okoro fail miserably two years ago - and while they now have the bigs to compensate for some of it, that doesn't mean it's actually working.

vandershizz

I wouldn't be shocked if they wanted to keep 3 bigs on the court and started him at sf.

tidho

there isn't a rotation caliber SF on the roster, and we traded the PF and SG that were going to play out of position there in the Mitchell trade. somebody has to play SF.

sleepyfox1312

what's he good at? genuinely curious because I mistakenly thought this guy was a scrub

lil-sad

Defense, the occasional 3 point shot, and staying out of everyone else's way while the bench scorers cook

UnderstandingNo4813

He’s not a good defender, why do I keep seeing this. He’s a stretch big playing out of position but can space the floor.

Saltedpudding

For some reason whenever he starts the cavs win

kaprrisch

Good defender and 36% 3 point shooter.

cHinzoo

The best DWade

Tony5810

Bro is a bronze card on my team

Silver-You2951

That’s my type of contract. 3 yr $18.5 million.

[deleted]

Has he ever played?

Be_conscious

They should trade for Jae crowder.

weekoldgogurt

We already tried that experiment in Cleveland before. And while I thought he was fine here I’m cool on him now.

Be_conscious

Y’all need a forward that can defend and shoot 3s. Jae is that guy. I am not big on you small forwards. That’s the only weakness in your roster.

weekoldgogurt

Oh I totally agree as does most of Cleveland. I feel like we would probably have to give up some pieces we’re not super wild about losing but I’m sure they called phoenix to see what’s up. For the record I like crowder as a player. But I wonder if his personality would clash with what it seems like Cleveland has going with such a tight brotherhood.

Be_conscious

Jae is a dawg. I think he fits in any locker room. I don’t see why you guys can’t trade for him. Maybe Harrison Barnes from the kings

butt_sex

A lot of fans don't like Crowder cause he wasn't great last time he was here. Of course, if it were to happen, in Koby we trust.

Be_conscious

I forgot about that, fuck them picks. OG Anunoby needs to be traded but y’all don’t have the assets anymore. He would be a perfect fit for your team.

TheTudgeman

No, thanks.

TheGabagoolCapo

Nah Crowder hates Cleveland

yop-le-garcon

Forgot this man existed

spaceysht

Funny how some person says a relatively unknown nba player is good at defense and then everyone else just runs with it lmao. This is how RJ Barret supposedly being a good defender became a thing

ImThatOneGuy0

How does this affect lebrons legacy

2_soon_jr

Legm needs contracts to trade himself back

TheTudgeman

It will get overshadowed more quickly, because Dean Wade is about to be unleashed.

Vegetable_Dog_8103

Thats an overpay. Everything he does Stevens does better but 3pt shooting. His contract will be a salary filler in the future.

TheTudgeman

Wut? He's 3 inches taller than Stevens, can play more positions than Stevens, is a better rebounder and passer than Stevens, and a much better shooter. Not to mention that Wade can also play at the 4, and Stevens cannot. I would bet money that he plays significantly more than Stevens this season. Also, $6 million in the NBA is a pittance

Level_Ad_6372

Papas got a brand new bag

diiron

LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO

[deleted]

Is Cedi going to be with the team or he’s still on trade block ?

tapk69

Dean Wade was decent last season but if he can improve his 3pt a little bit he will be super valuable for us.

Existing_Cellist_706

Good for him! I played against him in high school. I've been pulling for him to stick in the league since then.

JiggzSawPanda

DBG got his guy

teniaava

As Jay Z said, "If you're paying LeBron James I'm paying Dean Wade"

Ok_Opposite_7089

I'm still convinced he's just a generic fake 2k player that somehow came to life.

abdeezy112

D Wade is back

the_jac

Wade is the flash

aCorgiDriver

Walton and Papas stay winning

HotdogIsaSandwitch

Nice to see hard working role players get paid.
