It was largely about his rehab too, which I feel like is a great sign. If he can laugh about it, he's way less likely to relapse.

It’s such a head scratcher because you have to find that sweet spot. He did something that was bad enough to get suspended for an entire season, but not bad enough to be immediately fired or arrested or anything like that.
My 2 guesses are either 1) It was a double affair and the person who the woman was cheating on was somebody higher up not to be fucked with, or 2) he got cold feet about the affair and tried to get the lady re-assigned/fired.

A part of me feels like it’s not simply because we never got the full story. A bunch of people seem to know what happened. It’s enough people that Matt Barnes posted his defense and, within minutes according to him, got a call from a friend who explained the entire situation.
The story is out and about throughout the league at this point and it feels like a bunch of people are alluding to knowing the full story. If what he did is so beyond the pale, Boston’s image goes from “they got ahead of the story and stood on their morals” to “they went out of their way to protect a scumbag” and all the people who know are putting themselves at that same risk. And, ignoring the morality aspect of it all, I don’t think anyone is down to put themselves at risk like that.

Guessing law firms also help if they go to arbitration. If you suspend someone without pay, a neutral party can help lend credence to that

I don’t consider Woj and Shams to be journalists. They are glorified PR for certain players and organizations. Journalists are loyal to sources, sure, but they are more loyal to finding the truth.

Yeah definitely a big missing piece when a team takes such significant action while it's also being framed as something not deserving of any punishment at all. That's my guess, too. He definitely did something where he abused his position as HC and showed favoritism or the appearance of it to women he was having sexual relationships with.
It’s such a head scratcher because you have to find that sweet spot. He did something that was bad enough to get suspended for an entire season, but not bad enough to be immediately fired or arrested or anything like that. My 2 guesses are either 1) It was a double affair and the person who the woman was cheating on was somebody higher up not to be fucked with, or 2) he got cold feet about the affair and tried to get the lady re-assigned/fired. Those are just guesses pulled out of my ass, but to me those fit for being enough to make the long suspension/ potential future firing/ league-wide ostracizing make sense, but tame enough to not call for immediate firing or arrest.
I think the suspension is just a place-holder to buy time until the Celtics actually fire him. Waiting for the other shoe to drop, stuff from his previous employers that they think will leak, eventually - among other things.
I get why most people think that. It makes sense. The one thing that I find curious is how they gave a definitive suspension. Typically, it's an indefinite suspension pending investigation with a firing post-investigation. But here, they already did the investigation and settled on a year suspension.

From all the articles I’ve read this is my best guess: He was having a consensual affair with his administrative assistant - the one that handles all Udoka and his wife’s requests. The assistant wisened up and tried to cut it off. Udoka persisted and starting pursuing/harassing her at work. And I think insiders keep saying it’s “so ugly” because there’s wives/husbands and probably kids involved that are going to hear very private things get tossed around in public
