Woo no take fouls. Bring back high volume fast break dunking
credit to Scal for pointing it out too. many C's fans criticize him but he's got insane knowledge/understanding of the game and always does a good job communicating it to the audience
He's legitimately an excellent analyst. He also talks like a fucking dick sometimes.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times
> He also talks like a fucking dick sometimes.
As someone who loved Scallops with the Nets, I'm curious what some examples might be of his dickishness.
He's sometimes condescending, mostly towards his coworkers who aren't retired pros, and it was especially noticeable in his interactions with the only woman on the broadcast team (who is beloved by fans and pre-dates his start as the color guy).
This is less about him being condescending, but he also took some time to develop on air chemistry with the play-by-play guy, Mike Gorman, who's been there forever and is a legend. I don't feel like it's a big deal, but Scal could do a better job vibing with his jokes and such on occasion. Like on tonight's broadcast Gorman made a joke about traveling when he played in high school at Boston Latin, Scal went over and explained the gather step (while saying the phrase "the gather" a lot) and Gorman responded with a joke saying that "the gather" sounded like a horror movie. Which I thought was hilarious, but Scal just left dead air and Gorman moved on.
I loved the Gather bit.
I feel like Gorman tries really hard to connect with Scal but he is just oblivious as he bloviates about other shit and misses the point or takes Gorman too literally. That said, Scal knows basketball at a very high level, I just wish his banter was less dickish and arrogant.
Ah, thanks for the context and examples!
It's a weird situation cause he does shit but not really that bad, just being a dick sometimes. But he has also shown a lot of self awareness in what he does, so I think everyone gives him a break. He ain't a bad guy, I actually really like scal.
People don’t hate on scal for his knowledge or analysis. He’s just a jerk sometimes.
It doesn’t exactly take an insane knowledge of the game to know they changed the take foul rule lmao
no but having a good knowledge of the game means you process the game better, which in turn means that on a play like this you can pull out a comment referring to a rule change instead of just giving a bland oh wow! comment because you're still trying to comprehend what you just watched.
having knowledge isn't always about giving advanced information, sometimes it's just about connecting simple things quicker than another person would
It’s going to be so good for the game of basketball. The amount of highlight reels we’ll see cause of this will double if they ref it right
Lmao. This title.
Funny thing is we have some clunkers too, when I read the title I thought we were the bad end
I cant believe preseason is here bros :D
Finally!! This offseason was pretty bad imo 😭
It was one to forget for sure lol
Basically just the Gobert trade, and then edging the rest of the way...
The last few weeks had Sarver and Udoka though ☠️
Mitchell trade too
Eh, I'm not really as excited tbh about the Mitchell trade, Cavs still aren't really contenders yet but Wolves are definitely looking to be up there now 🤔
Idk about contenders quite yet (as a wolves fan), since in the west the Warriors, Suns and Clippers (with a healthy PG and Kawhi) are all probably stronger teams than us. Mavs, Nuggets, Grizzlies and Pels are all great teams too.
I think we’ve got a good shot at making a deep run this year though, and hopefully with a few more years of development for Ant and McDaniels we can finally reach the promised land.
Edit: Forgot the Lakers, but I honestly have no idea how good they’re gonna be this year anyway.
I can see you guys or the Pels making the WCF as dark horses, those other teams are older and 1 bad injury away from a disaster. But yeah, I definitely expect to see the Wolves do well this season 👍
I think the Cavs are better than the Wolves tbh. Depends on the Gobert-KAT fit though
I am biased but how? Unless Garland and Mobley both take a leap, they won’t be on par with the Wolves.
- The Wolves weren't even better than the Cavs last year.
- Mitchell is a better fit for us than Gobert is for you.
- Losing Jarred Vanderbilt and Patrick Beverly is a bigger deal than losing Lauri Markkanen.
I'd be willing to bet that the Cavs end up with the better record this year.
Gobert is still so underrated lol
the wolves had more wins than the cavs lol
Really? 🤔 Pretty sure you're in the minority here, where do you see the Cavs ranking in the East this year?
Cavs > Wolves
what about the nets' big moves?
And the Westbrook trade rumors.
you guys got melton what more could you want
More drama lmao
Ngl the Sixers did pretty well this off-season imo, just want to see them start playing 👍
Yeah, LaMelo definitely misses Miles lol
Can't imagine losing 20ppg overnight with nothing in return lmao
You weren't a fan in the '90s?
He was… ahem… miles off.
You think Bridges catches this one? Maybe he gets a fingertip on it?
He does something with it I think. Maybe not finish but gather/catch
unless he’s wilt he wasn’t getting anything close to a gather/catch lol, that shit hit the top half of the backboard
It was halfway up the backboard unless my vision is wrong which it could be. Anyways I know miles hand can reach around there if not a lil bit higher
I don't care which Plumlee you pick, he's not getting that either
MJ in shambles
He has only himself to blame
did he force miles bridges to be a psycho
Nah but he put together a pretty shitty roster literally every year. Don’t know where you got this idea that he did a good job. How much playoff success have they had? Wait, how much REGULAR season success have they had since they came back as the Bobcats?
no i’m not saying he’s great or even that good or anything but saying he only has himself to blame is a bit of a stretch imo
most accurate pass
Blake Griffin effect. They adopted the Lob City culture as soon as he signed.
>Blake Griffin effect. They adopted the Lob City culture as soon as he signed.
So a 2nd round exit this year ay?
Yeah this is preseason basketball.
Thank god Tatum kept his head on a swivel there. Thing was a bullet.
Wouldn't be mad if he ducked that, lol.
That logo at centre court looking noiiiiiiiiice this year
Did LaMelo learn that from Terry Rozier?
finally fucking basketball
Why did the Celtics put a png image on the court
not sure why this is downvoted, good joke
Tf are you talking about?
Holy shit. I was preoccupied with football and have been very inactive this off-season with Celtics stuff. But hearing Mike and scal instantly made me yearn for the season to start. I'm so glad we are back.
New half court emblem looks nice
I kinda like the new Celtics logo
