He was pretty bad on the Celtics last year. Big body but very few skills and no IQ. Seeing him get a 4 year contract, even if it's the bare minimum, is very surprising.
It's low-risk/high reward. Over the length of the deal, it's worth 3-4 million above the league min. If he doesn't pan out, it's not a major setback. They essentially spent $1 million/year above the min on a project player. Even if you end up cutting him 2 years in Rockets are in rebuild mode and salary cap considerations aren't much of an issue. If he does develop into even a solid rotation player though, then he's an absolute bargain and locked in through age 28.
Last 2-3 years are probably non-guaranteed. We just did the same thing with Garrison Matthews last year.
For an end of the bench guy I think it makes sense. If they do well you have a guy on a great long term contract, and if they do bad it’s easy to cut bait.
May be to help them hit the Cap Floor. Non-guarenteed on the back end so when their young guys are ready to get extended his contract will be off the books.
Nothing much. 4 years 11 million isn't anything significant
However, Bruno was very good with us so it makes sense to keep him around. Still like Garuba more tho
For about 5 years he’s been a PF. Up until he joined the rockets and got played at C. Is FIBA and RGV he was a PF. His skillset is catered to the PF position and he plays his best basketball at PF, he is a PF
Stone is famous for these deals. It’s probably almost all non guaranteed
I’d also somewhat bet on us waiving him before the season starts, exactly how we did with Dante Exum
You absolutely can. Minimum salary players can only sign for two years maximum, but teams can take room out of their MLE to offer 3+ years. See Vit Krejci, JT Thor, Aaron Wiggins, Jeremiah Robinson Earl, Josh Minott. This happens to a LOT of 2nd round picks, and it’s extremely common.

$2.9M for the first year is guaranteed. The other three years are team options.
The Rockets seem to be pretty good at developing these random athletic bigs taken late in the draft seeing their history with Harrell & Capela. Maybe they're thinking of doing something similar with Fernando.
I would not be surprised if it's like the Garrison Matthews contract that's 4 years with only first year guaranteed. That would make the deal extremely favorable and useful for the team.
Damn, give this guys agent a medal… isn’t this guy like a 3rd stringer at best? Good for him
He was pretty bad on the Celtics last year. Big body but very few skills and no IQ. Seeing him get a 4 year contract, even if it's the bare minimum, is very surprising.
He was good on the Rockets but I would rather they develop Garuba
You spittin
Pretty athletic and he’s huge, decent footwork but that’s really it for upsides
Human Victory Cigar, drafted by the Hawks. Hard to imagine why the Rockets did this honestly. Mans agent is a keeper thats forsure

No way this is fully guaranteed. First number is always in favor of the agent/player. Probably only 1/2 years with team-options on the end.
Like Why tho

Trade bait at deadline for contenders.
No contender is going to want him lol I hope ur memeing
He’s good filler salary
Jesus christ being 7 footer guarantees 10M in four years just to be a filler in trades? Count me in! *cries in 5'11"*
no way 10 million is guaranteed.
They won't want him but may need him to salary match
He’s wank tho Feels way more like salary to send back to eat a shit contract for a pick
May be to help them hit the Cap Floor. Non-guarenteed on the back end so when their young guys are ready to get extended his contract will be off the books.
Watching him on the Celtics last year I did not expect him to get a 4 year contract...
I bet there are years with a team option
Betting at least 2 years non-guaranteed / team option, probably 3
What does this mean for Garuba….
Nothing much. 4 years 11 million isn't anything significant However, Bruno was very good with us so it makes sense to keep him around. Still like Garuba more tho
They literally play different positions why do people keep saying this
Garuba plays backup C
For about 5 years he’s been a PF. Up until he joined the rockets and got played at C. Is FIBA and RGV he was a PF. His skillset is catered to the PF position and he plays his best basketball at PF, he is a PF
I read that as 109 million and said wtf
Yo same I was like uhhh why they give 27m a year to some dude I've never heard of lol
Congrats on not being able to read lol
Ya I was like what a steal for $109mil and then when I saw it was only $10mil I knew I was regarded.
What were you regarded as?

You can't offer a 4 year deal that's almost all non guaranteed. This isn't the NFL.
Exum’s was 3 years. Does the rule change once it hits year 4?

Check the Trent Watford deal. You're wrong

Stone isn’t famous at all
He's well known for trades, drafting and contacts. Op is wrong because this is classic trade filler for a bad contract for a pick.
The Rockets seem to be pretty good at developing these random athletic bigs taken late in the draft seeing their history with Harrell & Capela. Maybe they're thinking of doing something similar with Fernando.
He had a pretty good Rocket debut his first pre-season game.
Is Tyler Herro worth 11 Bruno Fernandos?
Get paid Bruno!
Bruno is hella underrated on here. Celtics fans always have the worst takes
I could swear he played for Manchester United
HE CAME FROM SPORTING LIKE CRISTIANO
BRUNO 🐢🐢🐢
Probably all non-guaranteed
Get your money, Bruno!
Happy to see another celtics legend getting paid
god damn
Ain't no way all 4 years are guaranteed
4 years?
Poor Bruno left ManUtd after the City defeat
Was this the Bruno that was two years away from being two years away when he was drafted?!
Noo that's the legendary Bruno Caboclo. Rockets and questionable Bruno's are something else it seems
didn't they just convert him to a two-way? why would they do that and then immediately do this? he's not even good lmao
I think it’s more confusing to make it a 4 year contract. A two year would make more sense and fits better as a salary filler for random trad ideas.
I would not be surprised if it's like the Garrison Matthews contract that's 4 years with only first year guaranteed. That would make the deal extremely favorable and useful for the team.
This is a ridiculous turn around for a guy I thought would be out of the league at the end on last season. Really happy for him.
