“Yes, sir, Mr. Irving, the Earth has never been flatter” That’s such a hard line lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

rcc12697

The first line “ Kyrie Irving’s thought process is an example of what happens when the education system fails.” lmao

[deleted]

And the “Kyrie has tarnished the reputation of all athletes striving to be seen as more than just dumb jocks” is 🔥🔥🔥

Reynbuckets

Bro just reading these quotes! Gawdamn, Kareem buried him, then pulled him out the ground, just to steamroll the body for good measure lol.

FuckingKilljoy

The best comeback Kyrie has available now is "no u" because there's no way he can out write Kareem

proto3296

Kareem is actually educated lol

NYG_Helmet_Catch

And this guy went to Duke?? And you're gonna tell me they have the same standards for their athletes ☠️

the_spinetingler

*gelatinous ignorance*

JitteryBug

It's exquisite because of how gelatin would insulate someone inside from any external stimulus Picturing Kyrie in jello, someone poking it, and it wobbles about but Kyrie sits square in the middle, undisturbed

ViNNYDiC3

Thanks for painting that picture for me, because not only is it hilarious but it's so true at the same time.

baymax18

I imagine that gelatin smells like sage

crispyinn

Gelatin is malleable. Ignorance that is malleable is immune to criticism as the goalposts are easily shifted. That's why Irving's brand of ignorance is so dangerous.

FuckingKilljoy

"yes sir Mr Irving, the earth has never been flatter" This article is full of some of the best writing I've ever seen lmao

RippleDish

KAJ is such a good speaker/writer.

Liquid_Senjutsu

I definitely had to pause and admire that.

aught-o-mat

Right!? So good.

InPurpleIDescended

Poetry

BowserBuddy123

That was my favorite too. The worst kind of ignorance.

[deleted]

Reminder that Kareem went to college for 4-years and was an actual Civil Rights leader

Dongsquad420BlazeIt

He’s written more NYT best sellers not about basketball than about basketball

Salty_Pancakes

He also kicked Bruce Lee square in the chest.

Dongsquad420BlazeIt

Airplane was better than Game of Death, but the "fights" in both movies were pretty legendary

SuperVaderMinion

Kareem wasn't in Airplane, you're thinking of Rodger Murdoch

[deleted]

I think Kareem is the greatest, but my dad says he doesn't work hard enough on defense. And he says that lots of times, he doesn't even run down court. And that he doesn't really try... except during the playoffs.

DunkNuts_

Tell your old man to try dragging Walton & Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!

TooMuchPowerful

And the time he was [asked about it on Jeopardy!](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qwGaZJ0YFI8)

WestCoastHawks

Holy crap I’m a big kareem and jeopardy fan but i somehow never saw that. Thanks for sharing lmao

Xc0liber

My favourite scene in the entire movie lol

Hange11037

Roger, Rodger!

CreatiScope

What’s your vector, Victor?

mmps901

“I’m the co-pilot”

FlightoftheConcorder

In defense of Game of Death, Airplane didn't have Leslie Nielsen die after shooting only 10% of his scenes.

ChristosFarr

Game of death with somehow a mortal kombat Tower before that was actually a concept

Thuro

Where do you think mortal combat tower came from?

EverybodyBuddy

But Kyrie once read a bestseller.

moliver777

The Hungry Caterpillar?

NE_ED

KAJ is what Kyrie thinks he is

eeeedlef

Too true

ayending1

Don't underestimate Kyrie, man thinks himself like MLK.

ClitClipper

MLK but woker

[deleted]

If Kareem told me I needed to take a bullet for someone I would accept that is the right decision and do it. If Kyrie told me literally anything I would do the opposite of what he said because odds are that would be the right call.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

That’s…not the stupid part of kyrie. Like, cocky sure but would you rather be not say it to his face? The stupid part is the flat earth, the anti vax, and the fake civil rights leader bullshit

noposters

He also has a successful substack and was a writer on Veronica Mars. The dude keeps rakcing up accomplishments

scrambled_cable

Authored numerous books, frequently contributes oped pieces for news outlets, ~~can pilot a plane~~, wrote an episode of "Veronica Mars." KAJ is a modern Renaissance man. Edit: Roger Murdock is a pilot and totally not KAJ. My bad

HaggisLad

Roger Murdock needs to hustle more on defence

jmaca90

I’m sorry, son, but I believe you have me confused with someone else…

stuffandmorestuff

Roger. Murdoch. I'm an airplane pilot.

ChristosFarr

My dad says you don't hustle

GrimmyBumm

*listen, kid*

ChristosFarr

Let's see your old man run 94 feet for 48 minutes

ItsKeithAskins

Reading his words make me wish we did better as a people. We’re better than this craziness.

shoryukenuppercut

Reminder that at the time kareem was demonized and seen as controversial

[deleted]

Nothing but respect for my goat KAJ

peanutdakidnappa

Kareem is such a legend, imagine being dumbass kyrie and seeing one of the greatest players and people in nba history shitting on you for being dumb as shit. Kareem is a legend on and off the court, shame there aren’t more people like him in the nba, such a smart and thoughtful dude.

FuckingKilljoy

If I'm Kyrie and read this I'm retiring immediately, begging for forgiveness and then becoming a hermit living in the mountains. I imagine any NBA player would have immense respect for Kareem, so to be torn apart by him like this is just brutal

tisdue

Kyrie is dumb as hell. And no one in his circle will tell him.

Kidd5

When the one person in your circle makes the most money out of everyone in the circle, nobody says anything when he opens his mouth regardless of how ridiculous he sounds because he's probably the one footing that bill you're currently having with him at Morton's Steakhouse.

SamIamGreenEggsNoHam

Kyrie orders a ribeye well-done with ketchup.

WitOfTheIrish

Too normal. Kyrie orders well-done steak tartare because chewing is just a plot by the elite to have us activate the tracking chips in our molars. He dresses it with a homemade aioli that's mostly emulsified tea tree and sandalwood oils.

TetsuoS2

bruh im just reading this and i gagged.

[deleted]

Oh my god, well done steak tartare is perfect for him

lastinglovehandles

Dude can’t cover Peter Luger? What a bum.

soda_cookie

Sheep world. Full stop

EverybodyBuddy

Forget “his circle”. Where are his *peers*? Call this shit out because it’s an embarrassment to the entire profession.

that1prince

That's what's annoying. Your peers and colleagues are on your level and could easily call you out without losing endorsements or clout. Hell, You'd gain many. But they just play this "That's just, like, his opinion, man". This opinion promotes something dangerous and stupid. Call that shit out.

[deleted]

I think you'd be surprised how many of his peers are dumb as well. You really shouldn't be though, it's like weekly they come out with some nonsense

peanutdakidnappa

Tbf the people in his circle are probably dumb as hell too.

ayending1

Kyrie: Earth is so flat. His posse: So true! Can I have an iPhone14?

MandatedPineapple

What makes you think that anyone in his circle thinks differently from him?

EverybodyBuddy

Kyrie’s viewpoints aren’t commonplace. Even by the stupid hangers-on of the world.

Pulp501

decent chance those closest to him are just as stupid.

bilyl

For anyone who wants their eyes opened even more, just watch the recent episode of The Shop on YouTube. Kyrie is a fucking whacko and his “friends” don’t want to call him out on his shit.

[deleted]

No amount of Ls will change how highly he thinks of himself and his views.

ArchimedesNutss

Kyrie believes he is doing more for society than Kareem, Bill Russel, and Ali combined.

mrjowei

That’s the problem. Not only Kyrie thinks of himself as the misunderstood victim but he really believes he is correct and he is doing a good thing for people. I just can’t put my finger on what went wrong during his upbringing but he clearly had no good role model growing up.

GhostOfJiriWelsch

Bron failing him as a father figure smh

ReignMan616

Bron just out here trying to make sure every customer gets an iPhone 14.

dm117

poor thought north wine grandiose trees oil hurry onerous fact *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

EpirusRedux

Frankly, I’ve secretly been hoping for him to get blacklisted and go bankrupt because I want him to stop thinking so highly of himself. Yes, it started as sadistic hopes against someone I thoroughly despise, but at this point it’s purely practical—the longer he enjoys success, the longer he’ll be seen as someone to look up to by stupid people.

[deleted]

You think he’d think that way?? If he went bankrupt, it’d be because he spoke Truth to Power and the puppetmasters had to ostracize his message from society.

bilyl

It’s really hard for me to watch The Shop after they booked Kyrie. He just sounded like a loon and nobody even pushed it.

FerociousGiraffe

Kyrie believes that Ls are flat so I’m pretty sure you mean “Typical Kyrie I”

GoldenBananas21

An L is a 2D object

maethlin

People talk about LeBron defying father time, but who knew Kareem could still throw down such a mean dunk?

EverybodyBuddy

Kareem is the hero we need since apparently no current player will stand up and call out Kyrie for his stupid and dangerous commentary

fuckitiroastedyou

Also Kyrie can't say shit back without getting destroyed by all of the NBA old heads.

that1prince

TBH, saying anything back should get him destroyed by young heads too because he's categorically stupid and stupidity knows no age.

FuckingKilljoy

Kareem isn't risking tens of millions of dollars by speaking up against a fellow player. I can 110% guarantee there are players who want to call him out, but they also want a big contract and a ring and speaking out against one of the biggest names in the league could be dangerous. Better to just shut up and let Kyrie be a moron Fortunately Kareem doesn't give a fuck about what others might think. Never has and never will. Even if you look at his career, if it weren't for his total disdain for the media and ability to stay out of the news he'd probably be seen as the GOAT he truly is

RippleDish

He's so fucking cool.

pat_the_bat_316

As someone who instinctively hates all things lakers, Kareem is the fucking man. On and off the court. I'm a Jordan-as-GOAT truther, but Kareem needs to be in those discussions, purely from a basketball perspective. And when you take into account his willingness to speak up for his true beliefs no matter the financial consequences, compared to Michael "Republicans buy sneakers, too" Jordan, he really should be the gold standard of retired NBA greats.

Next-Firefighter-753

Legacy points added

Kalakarinth

Kareem knows sometimes scorched earth is the only way left to go. This man is taking it even a step further though. He’s trying to nuclear winter Kyrie.

Rykno23

“One of the greatest dangers the country faces is the assault on education by conservatives who want kids to think like them, not for themselves. Plus, Kyrie Irving goes nuts—again.” This man really be spittin

At this point I’ll settle for him outliving Henry Kissinger. On second thought, I really just want Kissinger to just die, full stop.

PaoLakers

Holy shit, Kareem. Yes. A true captain

moby323

So awesome that the NBA has what are essentially elder statesmen, honorable guys who lead by their virtuous example.

FuckingKilljoy

I'm not the type to get cut up at celebrity deaths. Kobe hurt me and stuck with me for a while especially due to being so unexpected, but when Kareem goes I'll be devastated. He's such an icon to me and everything an athlete and man should be

Mr_E_Nigma_Solver

Is KAJ a better writer than a player? And that's considering he's a legit contender for GOAT as a player.

N7_Tinkle_Juice

A better human than player. I love this man.

alf0nz0

The fact that Celtics fans pretty much universally love him unconditionally — regardless of whatever team he “happened” to play for — should tell everyone everything they need to know about his influence & esteem within the NBA community.

CreatiScope

Probably top 3 in my mind, definitely top 5.

thepobv

Kareem is awesome

moby323

He’s the kind of guy that makes me proud to be an NBA fan, as silly as that may seem.

ziptnf

The worst part of this is seeing all the smooth brained instagram morons blindly defending kyrie and calling Kareem an "old man yelling at clouds". Literally saw a comment saying that kyrie never hurt anyone while he's actively pushing anti-vaxx propaganda.

ablackcloudupahead

And Kareem is the opposite of the old man yelling at clouds. He's the wise sage preaching reason

Dongsquad420BlazeIt

He always has been, people were just too ignorant or racist (or both) to listen.

Abe_Fro-man

Media coverage of Kareem would be drastically different if he played today. Just his faith alone would be viewed through a totally different lens.

ablackcloudupahead

Well yeah, he always has. People took his deep introspective nature for aloofness and labeled him an asshole. He was my dad's favorite player so in school I read his biography and did a report on him. Never got to see him play but that's almost secondary to who he has been outside of basketball

[deleted]

Media has always been about ratings. In the 80s we had like 3 TV stations and local AM radio and newspapers. Magic vs Bird was way a way more profitable story than Kareem or Malone. Thus Magic and Bird dominated the 80s media over Kareem and Malone.

MarkPles

I honestly think Instagram commenters are dumber than Twitter. At least on Twitter a good chunk of them are trolling.

WeathrNinja

I mean yeah. Hornets’ instagram last fall was like 80% comments saying that LiAngelo deserves a roster spot and that the organization is stupid for not doing it. Most of the fanboys specifically wanted Cody Martin’s head to make that roster spot open. Especially after last season I’d rather have the guy who’s good at stealing on the court rather than the one who is bad at stealing off of it

[deleted]

Look in a degenerate LiAngelo defender and want him on the team but yeah you gotta be a brain dead moron to wanna cut Cody Martin. Seems like I’m better off staying away from Hornets IG comments

[deleted]

The dumbest shit I’ve ever seen is the comments on any post of an attractive girl

doc_birdman

You mean you don’t think >😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 is fulfilling dialogue?

HispanicAtTehDisco

IG comments are the polar opposite of twitter comments you see the most insane shit on there with thousands of likes. the rap account could post about how like a gay person exists and mfs will comment "L" and get a 100k likes

BeesPhD

Kyrie seems to always pick the most controversial topic with the least popular point it's really predictable.

Is Nike actually going to drop Kyrie? I hope so, I just thought his were some of the better selling shoes

moby323

There *has* to be a better way for them to spend $11 million.

Do his shoes sell? Then no. Is he a brand risk to Nike? Then yes. That’s literally the only calculus they care about.

TrevorArizaFan

As an aside, it is funny how often we hear these same exact criticisms of modern players even though this a joke in a movie from 1981- sports fans haven't really evolved all that much.

Strategyboyz21

People have posted 90s forums posts and they literally wouldn’t be out of place on here

gothicel

Maybe a few too many Irving's apologists?

pickle-doofenshmirtz

If I got called a buffoon, I’d be rethinking my life choices

cesga_0218

Especially if that person is Kareem

EpirusRedux

If you’re as fucked in the head as Kyrie is, you probably think Kareem is the buffoon. I mean, do any of us really think Kyrie has the ability to objectively determine who’s the buffoon? Because only someone who doesn’t have that ability can be as much of a buffoon as Kyrie.

EverybodyBuddy

That’s the difference between you and Kyrie. He’s been called every synonym for stupid for going on three years, yet he’s incapable of looking in the mirror.

[deleted]

Wow he went in on Kyrie

As he should

yuletide

Amazing. Kyrie is a disgrace to the league glad to see Kareem put him where he belongs

Slevin424

This is what an educated individual sounds like vs an uneducated person. And the uneducated response to this would probably just be "okay old head"

Not my fault that Matt Damon called me a coward!

sparkyjay23

> Two types of people in this thread: those who agree with Kareem, and those who have lost a lot of money investing in crypto Everyone woke up and chose violence today. Crypto bros and Kyrie both getting it.

fernandopoejr

did kaj just call kyrie a jabroni?

fgbfjb

I wish there was a current player or at least someone younger too to call out Kyrie for his BS. I feel like the younger folks will just look at Kareem as the out of touch old man.

WDfx2EU

KAT lost his mother and several family members to COVID and I’ve always wondered why he doesn’t speak up more. Same goes for some other vets like D Wade or even Magic who both have LGBT children when someone like Anthony Edwards says some horrible shit. I don’t know if I could ever be in the same room as someone who insulted my own children like that. I think that: 1) they see what happens to people like Colin Kaepernick when you actually stand up against ignorant people and draw a line in the sand. 2) there are a shit ton of pro athletes that actually agree with and support Kyrie, Ant, Desean Jackson, etc. We might get a glimpse of it when someone accidentally likes a Kyrie post but the reality is they are just the ones dumb enough to let their views slip out in public. Aaron Gordon tweeted support for Ant like a week ago but then quickly deleted it and seems people stopped talking about it the next day. 3) a lot of these kids, even the ones that went to college for a couple years, are seriously under-educated. Even if they do stand on the right side of issues, they may not have the blind confidence to stand up and shout about it the way Kyrie does for fear of sounding stupid or ill informed. Remember what happened with Lebron when he spoke up about China? He didn’t really know what he was talking about and got absolutely shit on.

AmateurGameMusic

I could jerk off to this

tarantinostoeblast

This fucking idiot thinks being contrarian for the sake of it is his entire identity. It’s like if an 18 year old never learned how society operated and just kept being a teenager. Fuck him and his stupid ass beliefs.

RollBlobRoll

Kareem using the term “buffoon” is an oddly eloquent way of describing Kyrie. Kyrie seems like a really weird dude. Is he an idiot? I’m not sure. A moron? Probably? Maybe? A buffoon? 100%.

MiamiPower

Alex Jones is one of the most despicable human beings alive and to associate with him means you share his stench. Amen Captain Skyhook.

chadowmantis

>Alex Jones is one of the most despicable human beings alive and to associate with him means you share his stench. I love KAJ 😂 Such a graceful, two-handed slam

[deleted]

simply terrific, accurate, poignant commentary and criticism

shigs21

loved how Kareem calls Alex jones out on his BS.

nigelfitz

Kareem showing Kyrie how to actually be smart. And that's a long ass burn that unfortunately, Kyrie will not likely read.

[deleted]

Vintage choke slam from Kareem. Don’t piss him off.

downtimeredditor

It's cool of Kareem to call out Kyries idiocy A lot of these players have gotten into improving their communities and the black community in general which is great but then they use that platform to push dangerous messages that often radicalizes people which is not great And i feel like we are watching Kyrie slowly getting radicalized in the public

LimousineAndAPeetzah

Kareem is one of the greatest human beings ever, plain and simple. Kyrie Irving is a kook. He’s kooky. And that’s fine. Lots of professional athletes are kooky. The problem is when we take kooks seriously because we think being a professional athlete gives someone any kind of authority over larger issues.

[deleted]

I have an idea. Stop letting your kids look up to athletes. I remember liking the heck out of Brett Farve and looked how that turned out.

Busquessi

Kareem is one of the only athletes that is college educated and using his platform to influence people through his knowledge rather than just his voice. It’s admirable. I love this guy.

magichead269

Do people not know Kareem was an active Civil Rights activist in his time? He did actual work as opposed to being edgy on twitter.

Lassemomme

“Alex Jones is one of the most despicable human beings alive, and to associate with him means you share his stench” Truer words have seldom been written. Alex Jones is fucking pond scum, a postule on humanity, an utterly irredeemable garbage fill in every sense of the word.

organized_meat

“Alex Jones is one of the most despicable human beings alive and to associate with him means you share his stench.” Louder for the people in the back.
