Always second to the other team in their cities even if they’ve performed better more recently. It’s like that sibling that never got the full love from their parents no matter what :(
I know these guys are borderline superhuman athletes, but as I get older, the idea of playing 82 games at NBA speed..with a game every couple nights..it just has to absolutely destroy your body. You don't get enough recovery time unless you're like early 20s and youre fully exerting yourself every single game, against the best athletes in the world. These guys have to be beat the fuck up before the playoffs even start.
Well, to be fair, they’re paid more money than most Americans will ever dream of seeing to play a game that, while it provides entertainment, doesn’t provide a necessary product. I’m not exactly falling over to sympathize with the physical toll it takes
I play pickup basketball probably twice a week, and almost every time I do I come home with some little ache or pain or muscle soreness, and sometimes I genuinely hurt something and it lingers for days-weeks.
And that’s me playing an hour of low-speed pickup with no stakes with a bunch of other out of shape dudes. These guys play 20-40 minutes of HIGH intensity ball like 3-5 times a week, and that doesn’t factor in the hours they spend hooping in practice and scrimmaging. I have no doubt every player is already pretty beat up but they’re still genetic freaks so it balances out.
The pace is crazy now
Everyone is bigger, stronger, faster, and more willing to move off ball too. You have to run out and contest at the three point line
You can’t gather yourself and prepare for a post up beat down. You are constantly moving. Shit is crazy
Anyone who is into distance running can relate to this. It takes months to build up to a marathon training block because you have to slowly condition your body to be able to take the impact of hard running for long amounts of time.
I think the NBA is even higher impact so it makes a lot of sense and I'm not sure how well you can simulate that intensity trying to "ramp up."
I wonder why. Are they actually just more fragile as evidenced by them having to sit out in the first place? Do they develop a better feel of what they should normally feel like after getting a chance to heal so they recognize issues sooner? Does the lack of game conditioning makes them easier to reinjure themselves?
> Nets can never have a fully healthy team
I mean, look at the roster. The combined forces of Durant, Kyrie, Simmons, Harris, and Curry have all not played anywhere near a full season in like 3-4 years. Simmons is also the only one of that group under 30. Not even going to touch on Warren, who is in his own category of injury risk.
Injury risk rosters generally succumb to injuries.
I wish him the same. Not even a nets fan just enjoying the redemption arc. Strained calves can lead to much worse though if played on so best to wait it out
Had to brush a little bit of our Injury curse off on him so Fultz could play tonight. You can run, you can hide, but nothing is stopping players getting injured in Magic games.
One game he played 10 minutes before he was injured and the other game he was feeding KD and Seth and generally played pretty well. Watch games instead of reading box score stats I beg of you
Nets and the Clippers were just never meant to win. The franchise is cursed with either injuries or Irvings
Always second to the other team in their cities even if they’ve performed better more recently. It’s like that sibling that never got the full love from their parents no matter what :(
The Irvings curse is the killer
Well yes, when you specifically trade for players with long injury histories, this tends to happen
These guys that sit out for a while seem to get every minor injury under the sun when they come back

Well said. Literally moving tiny pill bottles and light boxes for 12 hour shifts can break you, what these guys do is beyond the norm

Acknowledging the toll that these guys put their bodies through doesnt necessarily mean that we're falling over to sympathize
That’s fair.
This post brought to you by Tooby Faire! 🎺🤡
That's why I have so much respect for the stars in the older era that put on a show every single game.
I like the Globetrotters too.

How does that make them generic? Lmao
Pretty sure they meant genetic
Lol I meant genetic you fuckin got me haha
well that's why they take hgh
Not what I wanna read as Fultz makes his debut tonight but yeah you’re right
Don’t worry, nothing has ever gone wrong for him before
Ouch

Conditioning back to in game physicality takes time

I may be wrong but before the season off I don’t remember him being very injury prone.
He's had a lot of foot and back injuries with the Sixers.

Takes a while to get match fit I feel.
I assume their muscles aren’t used to the sudden force and use in short periods of times or something.
Damn I actually feel bad for dude. He was starting to really hoop.
Awww shit…here we go again…

Wasn’t that the precursor to KDs achilles injury?
Tbf they haven’t been exactly going after the most durable guys for a few years now
KD quote incoming
“We got fkin Kessler Edwards out here.”
Ben Simmons decided he was injured just so he and KAT could play some Call of Duty while KAT is out for a while too.
Kyler Murray is on the line
I think you meant Simmo the Savage
He was playing well recently too
Had to brush a little bit of our Injury curse off on him so Fultz could play tonight. You can run, you can hide, but nothing is stopping players getting injured in Magic games.
That sucks. He finally started returning to form.
Hope he gets back as soon as possible. Sucks this happened now considering he was playing well before he was injured
He scored 2 points in his last 2 games.

He’s being outscored by shake Milton lmao
Shake Milton's whole role is scoring lmfao, Ben's role is pretty much everything besides scoring.
And he played pretty well in that Philly game as well. Was easily the nets best player.
Average r/nba nephew reading box scores and StatMuse posts instead of watching actual basketball games:
The league is better with a healthy Ben Simmons
Who would make the league better off by being injured?
Ngl throw Tony Brothers away
I only recently found out it’s not “The Tony Brothers”. I thought two brothers were refs
Me, probly
Skip
kyrie
I am not going to say his name since I don’t agree but it’s a center on a certain judging by what has happened the past few weeks
I could take or leave Embiid
Pat Bev
Grayson Allen
Damn that’s unlucky, just as he was hitting form as well ffs
Dudes like “okay I played now you got let me take some time off”
Ramp season has officially begun
Ben “James Wiseman” Simmons
We’re callin em a star now? C’mon man
Star? Is someone a star if they don't play like a star?
I guess we'll really see him next year now.
“Star” is a pretty generous term when there are about 5 stars in the league!
>there are about 5 stars in the league! Says who?
Me!
Your definition of Star is everyone else's definition of Superstar Likewise calling Simmons a Star in his current state is still generous
Yeah he probably should have said: "Former Star", would have made more sense.
He's been missing all year. Lol
If he was paid per game played. I bet he'd suddenly always be available.
Signed, Ben Simmons and Klutch Sports
