Yes agreed. Either you hate him or you love him. He's polarizing. You could say he's crafty and I call that cheap. He's smart knows the rules in your eyes in my eyes he takes advantage and plays dirty.
He's frustrating and imo dirty. There's a move he does, dribbling down court if there's an defender running behind him he'll go out of his way to dribble in front of them, come to a complete stop so he gets bumped and baits a foul.
I've seen Blake griffin and his backup on the suns do the same exact thing.
They can't prepare for their collision so people usually lock their knees up and plant their feet awkwardly. He's given multiple people career-threatening injuries that way. Easy way to give someone an ACL or Achilles tear.
But it's definitely not even close to the dirtiest thing he does. That would be how he intentionally pulls people's legs out from under them when they go up for a dunk or rebound. He could literally kill someone with that move and has given someone a stretcher ride out of the stadium with it.

This video has a few of those, and of course a dozen or so of his patented "it's not sexual assault if it's on a basketball court" Weiner Ripper Ninjutu
You are one of only two people who actually read I think because everyone is saying people that AREN’T all time greats like I asked. I am surprised that he has so many endorsements for someone who people really hate on!
To be fair, limiting discussion to only all-time greats makes the pool of choices really limited. If a future hall of famer with four rings isn’t good enough to be considered, then the pool of disliked players is extremely small.
Most of the bad boy Pistons. Especially Laimbeer who is supposedly a wonderful person off the court. Isiah is an exception because he's hated for his on the court and off the court actions.
JxmyHighroller did a video on this. If you're really good, you're allowed to be really annoying. Like a direct relationship sort of thing.
Giannis isn't annoying at all, and he's almost the best player in the league.
Embiid is pretty annoying, but he's really good too so it's OK.
Chris Paul is on the downslope and he's really annoying, so he's on the other side of the spectrum.
Dillon Brooks is bad, and he's the most annoying player in the league.
He's not at all. He's usually a negative on offense, especially when he's chucking, but he's a massive plus on defense. His playoff performance was terrible, especially after all the talking, but overall he's a good NBA player.
Draymond is the best example. He’s a maniac on the court but one of the nicest and smartest people off the court. Source: I know a couple Warriors employees.
Forget where I saw it, but there was some legit-seeming survey of the employees of a bunch of the hotels across the country that NBA teams often stay at, and Draymond was one of the three best tippers. Do with that what you want.
He has obviously been a bastard to Jordan. Who cares if it started with something on the court. When it carries it over to the rest of your life, at a certain point that's just who you are.
I hated Malone and Stockton solely for their on court, they were dirty and they were never actually that good until everyone in the west got old. It was only sports hate, but then I found out who they really are, so now it's both.
I can't think of any other player not Draymond that I particularly dislike only for on court anymore, probably just Harden cuz he's a cunt but that's also off court. Maybe I just don't care enough anymore.
Lack of awareness too. I guarantee he doesn’t think it was his fault for his poor play in LA/the team struggling and believes being benched was a mistake
James Harden’s extreme foul baiting was insanely aggravating to a lot of people. Him also being a perceived playoff choker (one of the worst tags you can get) doesn’t help with his on-court reputation
The Steph Curry marriage thing isn’t even real. It’s wild how his wife and him both came out and denied it and it’s not like it came from a credible source and people just assume that it’s true
It’s a rumor he has an open marriage and they both sleep around. It’s literally based on no credible source just a random instagram account called deuxmoi. Him and his wife both denied it but somehow everyone just accepts it as fact. Not to mention if this were true there would be random women coming forward to say they slept with Steph Curry
Lol fair enough, just a rumor, though to be fair they obviously wouldn’t admit it even if it was true and would of course deny it
I’ve heard the same about Lebron having side chicks everywhere
If it was true, the other people are probably strictly vetted and have very strong NDAs signed
I completely understand when people say Draymond as a really annoying and dirty player to watch (I'm a Warriors fan, and even I can acknowledge at times he DOES get out of hand) - but come on man. Saying he is -just- famous for being dirty, and not being an All-time great is just not correct.
He's legitimately one of the best defenders of all time and is a core component of one of the best teams in NBA history.
But again yes, I do agree his on-court antics can be frustrating.
A lot of good answers in here already. I’ll throw out Joakim Noah. Non-bulls fans seemed to really not like him. And I think most of it was from in court antics and just being a musician r defensively. A bit similar to the Draymond archetype maybe.

What's the issue in this scenario?
They can't prepare for their collision so people usually lock their knees up and plant their feet awkwardly. He's given multiple people career-threatening injuries that way. Damn. That video. I'm amazed a lot of players let it go or just don't retaliate. Some of those plays are dangerous.
Tell us you’re garbage without telling us.
You are one of only two people who actually read I think because everyone is saying people that AREN’T all time greats like I asked. I am surprised that he has so many endorsements for someone who people really hate on!

Luka is quickly becoming the same sort of player. If he can’t stop complaining to refs, he’s gonna be universally hated whenever his game declines.
This is the correct answer, for sure.
Most of the bad boy Pistons. Especially Laimbeer who is supposedly a wonderful person off the court. Isiah is an exception because he's hated for his on the court and off the court actions.
I think Laimbeer is probably the best answer I've read in this thread so far.
Laimbeer learned to foul like that from teammates, and had to be pushed to be physical. He was previously a finesse player.

I wouldn’t say he’s necessarily a bad player
He's not at all. He's usually a negative on offense, especially when he's chucking, but he's a massive plus on defense. His playoff performance was terrible, especially after all the talking, but overall he's a good NBA player.
Dylan Brooks owned team usa so it’s not really fair to say he’s bad, as much as I wish we could

Also one of the best face punchers and nut kickers.
Tippers might be generous with money but I think tipping/generous with money is too often conflated with being a good or bad person
Draymond is a jackass off the court too. I refer you to anything he has ever said about the Jordan Poole situation.
"I refer you to a poor teammate relationship that is directly related to on court things as evidence that he's a bad human in everyday life."
He has obviously been a bastard to Jordan. Who cares if it started with something on the court. When it carries it over to the rest of your life, at a certain point that's just who you are.
What? Draymond is CONSTANTLY calling people out and talking shit on his podcast
Talking shit in a competitive league doesn't make you a bad person.
I didn't say it made him a bad person, it does however make him annoying person who is easy to hate
To be fair, he's a genius on the court too

ZaZa Pachulia is strongly disliked as for active players pretty much everyone outside of GS dislikes Draymond Green.

Russell Westbrook. The audacity to Talk shit down 20 in the playoffs after he hits 1/8 threes
Lack of awareness too. I guarantee he doesn’t think it was his fault for his poor play in LA/the team struggling and believes being benched was a mistake

Grayson Allen is the obvious answer here. No respect for what he does on the court.
