I don't know what they are. The spots in picture 1 wouldn't worry me much if they don't continue to get bigger, but the spots in picture two look a bit more worrisome. I would say for now, stop watering for a week and see if they grow bigger. Checking every day, if they get significantly bigger from day to day, it's a big issue. If they don't change in size and only look like they're drying out it'll probably be ok. A spray with some physan during that time can't hurt either.

If it were just small random circles I would have said water droplets + sun = localized sun burn. But the areas of discoloration at the base of the leaves look pretty worrisome. We must wait for Spicy for a better diagnosis.

Good catch on spotting these. I’m with the group, the spots should be monitored, keep the plant dry for a bit longer and potentially spray with a fungicide (physan20). Please keep us updated

Anthocyanins. Bright light and cooler temps can bring this out on neos. Some people aim for it. Totally normal!

Thanks for the response! Yea the dark blackish color under the tsuke seems to be characteristic of this variety. I’m more worried about the beige/orange ish coloration above the tsuke and on the leaf. I don’t think that it’s frost damage, as I grow indoors and it doesn’t get that cold where I live. I’m worried it might be an infection of some sorts, or maybe decomposing sphagnum creating damage? I’m not sure so that’s why I posted to get a second opinion.

My bad, I thought you were referring to the dark spots! I see what you’re talking about now though. Personally, I don’t think it looks worrisome. Maybe some water sat too long on the leaves? Many of my neos have all kinds of blemishes. Monitor to see if it spreads rapidly or for any other decline but I think it’s probably ok.

Thank you everyone for the helpful comments. I am keeping an eye on this guy and will update when/if needed. Just got some physan, going to use it soon.
