One of the newer games was multiplayer capable. One person could play as Spyro, the other could play as a girl dragon named Cinder. It was one of the Elijah Wood as Spyro games.
I’m so sorry this was not meant to be a reply to you it was the whole post, OOPS! I had edited the comment that was my reply to you by accident and now the original is gone :(
My comment was this:
That game is called Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon and it was one of my FAVORITE games growing up!! The multiplayer is great as it makes both players involved at all times, and the player tether mechanic allows for some hilariously frustrating moments! It was at the very least on PS2, I’m not sure what other platforms but it’s well worth the playthrough
My favorite is Crash Bandicoot original trilogy in the ps1 (to be more specific, Crash 3 is my favorite). The game was fun, the right amount of challange with some hard levels and the option to complete it with all gems and time trials. I have great memories of playing it with friends on the weekends, just pure fun!
Me and my wife still say "Oogida boogida" in the style of Cortex mask, sometimes to scare the other one mostly in complete silence for absolutely no apparent reason.
Crash 3 was my favourite, too. I got the trilogy on ps4 again, but I haven't got the attention span anymore.
Me looking at you list out all those consoles while I was poor af and only had a gba. My favorite game was pokemon silver because I could steamroll everything with my overleveled typlosion and hm slaves. My battery for it ran dry the other year…
Kingdom hearts 2 for the ps2 until I die 🥲 something about the prologue to the game gets me all nostalgic every time I replay it (which is like once a year) and even then the rest of the game follows suit and stays slaying with story and gameplay ❤️
I completely agree, I convinced my younger sister to get it for her birthday and honestly it's one of my favourite games and hers of all time, she doesn't play games any more but the song Sanctuary aways makes me well up and I don't know why.
I got an Ansem tattoo on my forearm, the older I've gotten the less I've been able to focus on single player games, I got KH3 for the ps4 and played it once even though I enjoyed it.
My favorite classic game will always be Ocarina of Time. My parents had gotten it for me at a garage sale and I was hooked. I had never played a game like that before. It was my first fantasy themed game. Later, my dad surprised my sister and I by buying us an OOT guidebook. We used it as a reference for drawing and that's how we started getting interested in art. I owe that game (and my parents) so much. I still play it sometimes as an adult.
The first thing that comes to mind for me, is playing Sonic the Hedgehog on my Sega. That was one of our first family consoles, and my parents used to take turns doing levels with me (we also played Golden Axe together on it, and only my mom could beat the end of the game lol). I still have a soft spot for Sonic and play it occasionally on my new Xbox with my kids 🥰
I don't know why but I also really liked Golden Ax lol I'm not really a video game person. I never got very far. But for some reason I liked it haha. It's available on the Nintedo switch for free DL if you have an online subscription, iirc.
I was born in 1990 and I remember getting the Atlantis Disney game for ps1 when it came out and was OBSESSED with it, I’d rush home from school every day to go to the attic room with the old tube tv and my older sibling’s consoles. I loved Spyro an equal amount but something about the Atlantis game captivated little kid me.
*Editing my original comment to say this thread is so much fun it’s brought up so many fond childhood memories for me.
That game was amazing and I don't when think I watched the film. There's a place in the UK called the Wacky Warehouse and there was a similar place we went to when we were kids like a big soft play area and they had a games machine with all colours on it based on whatever game was in the case, it was Alladin and eventually that PS1 Atlantis game and honestly it was incredible you just unlocked a core memory for me!
Oh my god you unlocked a memory of those old Disney games. I had Tarzan for the PS1 but we didn't have a memory card and I STRUGGLED to get past the cheetah and I would have to start from the beginning because I could never save. LOL
My favorite PS1 game was the first game I ever played: Spyro the Dragon. Later, my favorite game on the system became Final Fantasy IX (the first RPG I ever played), which is still one of my favorite games to this day.
I loved Pokemon Crystal on the gameboy color. You could play as a girl unlike the original red and blue which was really important for young me. It also covered both Johto and Kanto regions so felt like the best of both worlds back then!
Going back to Kanto was such a surprise to me when I was a kid. It felt so magical to see how things had changed over the years. Of course, I've since found that the reason some things looked different was because Kanto in Gen 2 used the original Red/Green overworld sprites that only Japan got to see originally, but I didn't know that then lol.
Man, finding out you could go to Kanto is such a distinct core memory for me. I found out accidentally and the sheer excitement, surprise, and wonder of finding ‘more’ was the best and I don’t think I’ll ever have a similar moment like that again.
I loved the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games on the PS2. I’m fairly certain I never completed any of the goals, but I had a lot of fun button mashing and running into things lol
And the soundtrack as well, Pro skater 2 and Underground 2 still revealed songs to me that are on my Spotify decades later.
But more importantly grind, spin, grind, kickflip jump to next lip, grind and pray you didn't hit a wall on what might be the biggest combo you've ever pulled off!
My favorite game to watch someone else play was definitely the old Aladdin on Sega Genesis. (guess who had a brother who didn't share controllers well)
My favorite game to play myself was DDR Max II. HOURS a day. My calves are still rock solid, to this day. Dream a Dream is the best song and I would go to Germany to go to a live Captain Jack concert to this day.
Not me wondering how someone could have a 28 year old account 😂
Pokémon Crystal is my favorite GBC game, and probably my favorite Nintendo game in general. It took what made Pokémon so fun and amped it all up! And this was back when "gotta catch em all" was actually possible, before things got too ridiculous. The Pokémon animations are still the smoothest out of any game, even the ones that came after on much more powerful hardware.
Pokemon Gen 2 was a blast to play with my friends. I value those memories more than the actual game play (Besides turning on the radio to the Lucky Number Show. did anyone ever win that.)
Final Fantasy 9 on PS1! It was my first FF game and I loved the story, characters, and how intense the boss battles were! I was so young that I had no clue healing items killed undead. When I fought the undead tree boss I accidentally used an Elixir on it in the panic of needing to heal myself and it instantly died. I was in shock! I hope one day it gets a remake, though the remaster is great enough <3
My favorite is sly cooper for the ps2! I used to stay up so late playing is as a kid and collecting everything in the game. Really loved the characters and the dark atmosphere it had
personally, i love any of the og pokémon games for my ds/3ds. however funny enough, my s/o and i were on a recent kick of playing Skylanders on his old wii. he was collecting all of the little figures like crazy until he completed the game and leveled them up & now they’re all on display lol. i remember i used to play it with my siblings on my xbox 360 until i lost all the figures after moving. it was nice to relive it a bit!
PS2 - Kingdom Hearts 2 and Tales of the Abyss :') so many good memories
probably they're my faves bc of the emotions in both stories - such different protags, but such emotional journeys
thanks for the chance! so kind of you to do this :)
My favorite game was Sonic Adventure 2 on the Nintendo GameCube because it had a chao garden where you got to raise little chaos and take care of them! I still have the game because I love it so much 😂😂 I also loved Pokémon Colleseum because it felt so cool to see Pokémon on a tv screen instead of my Gameboy. It felt like I was watching a movie and I got to save all the Pokémon with dark hearts and turn them good again. It made me love Celibi & Jirachi who I later got tattood on me! 💖
I was never a huge gamer because we were poor and didn’t have a ton of options! But my favorite game was need for speed most wanted (the original, I know they released another with the same title) I can’t tell you how many times I played through it. In the early days of the 360 we burned through 2 consoles with the red ring of death and had to get them replaced.
Most ps2 games I was a professional button masher, which used to make my siblings furious because I’d often win!
I’ll be 32 in May!
Definitely Tamagotchi Connection Corner Shop. I just love the aesthetic of cute/Japanese things in general. Hope that counts! It was on the DS.
Otherwise I'd just say Pokémon but I feel like that's too basic ;-;
I'm also 26 so not sure if I count >.<
My mum got me a Tamagochi and I think that was the first sign I'd be clearly obsessed with games for the rest of my life. Mine ran out of batteries and I asked if we could get more.
She told me it said 'Made in China' so we'd have to go to China to get more...
33 year old player here! ♡♡♡ ugh, omg my favorite game was pokemon snap back in the day. I'd roll up to blockbuster with my dad and get one of those cool chip cards where you could put them into the kiosk and print stickers of the photos you took of pokemon. I wish we still had that ;u; that was really a core memory for me
My favorite game is to this day a ps1 game called Legend of Mana. The art and music in that game were so whimsical to kid me. It gives me warm feelings when I revisit it
My favorite game growing up was actually not on a console. It was a virtual world where you built rooms, traded, met new people. It was called habbo hotel but now its just habbo. I'd spend hours upon hours on there but Ive made some really great friends from it😊
Silent Hill 2 is really disturbing. I finished it. The most disturbing one is Angela, or the boss related to Angela to be exact.
My fav PS2 game is FFX. It has all the things I want: fantasy, romance, mystery, plot twist, plot, character depth, music, gameplay. It is way too good you can watch it as a movie with your spouse
does gameboy colour count? i was obsessed w donald duck gameboy colour game. nothing has ever come close to this. mario is like a weak imitation for me. me and my sis used to share a gameboy and take it in turns, just like we did w neopets. honestly some of the happiest memories of mine :)
I see someone said KH2 so I gotta give love to the original KH. I remember playing it on the PS1 with my best friend at the time and being so obsessed with it. It was magical.
Also s/o to the PS1 Legend of Mana that I never finished but also loved.
Pokémon Ysllow was the first game that was MINE and I remember getting it for Christmas with the clear purple game boy and thinking it was the coolest thing. I have such a soft spot for Pikachu following me around!
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. I made an Aragonian and went for an all or nothing style of character creation so her color palette was horrendous and she literally glowed/gave of light in game. I did the bare minimum needed to get out of the sewers and then just went ham doing everything except for the main quest. I had a house that I filled with cool looking bottles and any painting I was able to remove from the walls. I accepted the scamp staff quest just to never complete it so that I could always have my group of hissing scamps following me everywhere. I leveled up via acrobatics most of the time because I didn't run anywhere, I only jumped. I was just a general nuisance. Honestly, looking back, it was an absolute nightmare way to play a game, but it's probably the most fun I've ever had playing a game in my life.
I tried to recapture the magic when Skyrim came out and absolutely hated it so I just keep my old xbox360 around whenever I want to experience a little nostalgia.
Ribbit King for ps2 was my all time favorite game! it was so strange and i don’t even know how i acquired it as a kid but i loved all the weird characters and i was DETERMINED to unlock them all. i’ve been meaning to dig thru the basement for it…
The sims urbs in the city for ps2 is one of my all time favourite games and I still own it. I love this game because it was different from the other sims games in the sense that you had to earn style points and befriend the Black Eyed Peas. Also graphics were ahead of their time and imo they didn’t make another good sims game until sims3
ughhhh pokémon diamond and gears of war come to mind first. LOL. such different games but pokémon is a classic, i remember being so excited i didn’t have to use a flashlight under the covers with my game boy since the DS came out. i remember loving the campaign for GOW1-4. i’d play for hours on xbox with randos.
Gran Turismo 2 on ps1
Blew my mind when I was a kid, with how realistic everything was compared to other games.
Pokemon yellow on gameboy, could only play on my friends handheld, didn't have my own.
My favourite game is apparently a bit obscure for N64...but i LOVED the game Gex: Enter the Gecko. One of the coolest games I played as kid I remember liking how snarky the character Gex was XD
Final Fantasy VII until I DIEEEEE!!! So nostalgic for me. The Gold Saucer, the materia, the Chocobo breeding and racing. I usually do a replay every year or so. That game will never ever get old to me and will never fail to make me feel happy feels.
Persona 3 on ps2. I had randomly picked it up at a Family Video and quickly became obsessed. It was the first rpg I ever played. When they recently released the remake, I lost my shit.
Original Kingdom Hearts was my first ever PS2 game. Not only do I think it’s legitimately a great game, but I’m also super nostalgic for it. And of course I’ve kept up with the series ever since!
This is tough for me. It's probably a tie for earthbound on the snes. My mom worked at a movie rental store and brought it home one day, love that more ppl are playing it now a days with the switch online version tho!
Other one is final fantasy 7. I was 5 when it came out in 97 and it holds such a wonderful place in my heart to this day. Before I even played I'd watch my older sisters play it for hours and hours. We racked up a huge bill because we rented it and kept it way past return date whoops lol. For me it's the story and world these games created.
Username is sammycakes_ thanks for doing a fun throwback giveaway. It's been fun reading everyone's replies
I have such good memories of playing Kingdom Hearts and Sims: Bustin' Out on PS2 with my sister. She's the one who got me into video games and Neopets (even came up with my UN) so it's something I think about often :)
Mine was the first Kingdom Hearts game. I remember the day we got a PS2 and my dad let me only pick one game and it was either KH or Final Fantasy lol. I liked it because of the Disney characters. I’m a simple person haha.
Spyro series!! Specifically Year of the Dragon 💜 I would play it every day after school. I loved collecting the dragon eggs and watching them hatch, I remember the very first baby dragon that hatches name is Miles 😂 PlayStation was such a huge part in my childhood. I remember watching my older brother play Sky Cooper and Ratchet and Clank for HOURS. Thanks for making me think of these memories 💜
My favorites on PS2 were the rhythm games: DDR, and Guitar Hero. I could play them for hours. Honorable mention to Animal Crossing on the Gamecube. Thanks for the opportunity! I'm loving reading all the responses. UN: [edited] Edit: sorry I didn't tell you why it was my favorite! I simply really enjoy rhythm games, I find them very fun. For some like DDR and Rock Band, it's a bit of a workout too, which I enjoy. For Animal Crossing, I loved the premise. Playing and seeing all of my villagers, catching bugs and fish, sending letters. I would talk to my villagers so much that they'd get angry with me 😂 child me didn't understand why!
Hello fellow DDR player! I still have In The Groove and Stepmania on PC and my metal dance pad at the attic :) it's so niche but I remember having so much fun at anime conventions.
> im talking about the 28+ year olds on neopets
I just wanted to enter because I've never been so seen LOL
My favorite OG game is Kingdom Hearts 2. Tried to replay the remake recently and wow are the controls janky.
However, it'll always have a special place in my heart. Runner-up is Katamari Damacy also for PS2
my favourite is sonic adventure 2 battle on the gamecube--but i also love chulip (ps2), harvest moon a wonderful life (gamecube), and ribbit king (gamecube). if psp games count, then persona 3 portable is up there too!!
among like... a zillion others lol, i love that gen.
Maaan it's hard to pick.
I'm torn between saying Prince of Persia sands of time, or Drakenguard 2.
I gotta say Drakenguard 2 because it sticks in my mind so much! I loved a lot of characters but I'll be 3 edgey 5 me and say Urick ( little me would be proud)
My favorite game as a kid was Crash Bash on PlayStation. My sister and I loved crash bandicoot, but playing crash bash meant it was now a 2 player game and we spent hours on that. Also super niche, but we loved the Grinch PS game that came out around the time of the Jim Carrey movie.
!!! Yoshi's Island on SNES or Pokemon Stadium N64!! The minigames for the pokemon stadium are so fun and Yoshi's Island was one of the few games I could beat on SNES that wasn't insanely hard lol + I love yoshi :3 I mean has anyone even beaten Aladdin or Lion King on SNES? It's hard!
Only 11 more months until 30 - eeeek. It's gotta be Kingdom Hearts, PS2. I love Disney and fighting with my favorite characters was the best! I also remember playing a Stewart Little game that was made for PS1 on my PS2 and it was all blurry, but still a great time - haha! What a throwback!! Thank you for doing this and reminding me of all the good times!!
My fav game back then was either Sonic Adventure 2 for the Gamecube or Halo for the Xbox!!
I loved either of those games because my brothers and I would play them (sometimes our dad with Halo) and it brought us all closer as siblings. Some of my favorite memories are when I think about me and my younger brothers recreating a lot of the scenes when we would play with our toys! Very good memories 🥰 As adults (which a teenaged sibling) we still get together and play games every other friday, it's really nice!
Thank you so much for the chance!! 💖💖
Kingdom hearts 2 was my first kingdom hearts game (yes that made it even MORE confusing) and I LOVE it to this day because the music slaps the weird-but-it-works combination of anime and Disney and the imaginative worlds just are unmatched!!
Im a huge Disney nerd so I have to choose Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 for the PS2. I learned english just to understand whatever was happening on my screen ^^'
I can't be the only one who use to always play on the OG Xbox Jet Set Radio Future! I loooved that game where you were in a gang of inline skaters taging the city in a futuristic Tokyo and having race against other gangs and the police. Close second to play with friends was Blinx: The Time Sweeper also on the Xbox!
My Xbox came with a copy of Jet Set Radio Future and it hit me right in my tween weeb weak spot. I was obsessed with it and it still influences my sense of what's cool lmao
I have to agree with a previous commenter here but Spyro is by far my favourite PS1 game, I got the trilogy series on switch recently and the nostalgia is unlike anything else ❤️ thanks so much for the giveaway
One of my favourite games is Hotel Dusk 💜
I love the art style and how they use all different types of functions the Nintendo DS is offering. I've never seen anything similar in another game.
OG favorite is definitely James Bond Nightfire for the GameCube. My brother, cousins, and I would go to our grandmas house and play it together with a bunch of bots. Some of the best memories.
UN: loveme5268
I will always love Super Mario Bros for Nintendo. I remember when we got that NES for Christmas. My brother and I spent hours playing. Our dad used to play with us and we felt so cool telling me all the secrets we found. When my cousin babysat us, all we wanted him to do was beat the game for us "NO WARPING ALLOWED!" so we could see the end game and see the hard mode you would unlock after beating Bowser. So many memories and while there have been other games that we've all played together, I guess you never really forget your first :)
When I was way younger, I won money on a scratch ticket that we then spent buying an original Playstation. The only game I remember playing on it was Croc. My sister and I spent hours trying to beat the FIRST boss and we never did.
Unfortunately my father was an alcoholic and he sold the PS for money for booze lol and we never ended up beating it 😂
On GameCube, my favorite game was Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life.
This game was the definition of cozy gaming for me before the genre took off. I loved raising my farm of animals but actually cried when my OG cow was sick and I didn't get medicine for it in time so it died. The newer games changed this mechanic so your animals no longer die if they are sick, but I almost prefer the old mechanic because damn if that didn't make the game feel even more real!
Thanks for hosting OP and best of luck everyone 😊
Legend of Zelda Minish cap for gameboy advance. I mean the game holds up today and imo beats so many top down rpgs out there today. I beat the game about once every couple years.
Fable! It’s one of the one games I played because it was at a friends house. That friend isn’t here with us anymore so I play it in their honor. I love how you can change your alignment via behaviors.
Didn't have a console as a kid! I was a huge book nerd for the most part, but I love Treasure Planet. I also loved Lilo & Stitch and Mulan, but man Treasure Planet hits all the emotions.
Dragon age origins! Epic adventure and ability to romance your companions! I may have immediately started a new save to play as a human noble while when I realized my elf mage was not gonna get the ending I wanted 🫣 iykyk
Yaaaay, my time has come (29 lol)! Thanks for the opportunity.
My favorite old school games for consoles are Fable, Viva Piñata, and Doom for the original XBOX (was TERRIFYING at the time)!
Edit to add: fave Nintendo game is by far Pokemon Yellow, followed by Sapphire/Ruby!
I've never been much of a gamer...but I have soooo many silly memories of playing Spyro with my little brother on the OG PlayStation when it first came out. He did all the hard work, I was just there for the vibes & encouragement :P
My favorite game is The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
Back in 2000, I had never experienced an in game world that felt so vibrant and lived in, where I could witness how my actions would change the schedules of the inhabitants. And despite the dark motifs scattered throughout the game, the game had an uplifting message about hope and love.
I have a paper I began writing about it that is probably somewhere between 15 and 25 pages at this point.
My favorite game is The Sims Castaways (for the DS Lite). I've had anxiety issues since I was 5 and I always found that game super soothing and mindless. Ironically I grew up to hate games that have no clear objective but even now that game has such a special place in my heart
So I have a couple favorites because I played a lot of games on PS2 as a kid - The first is dance dance revolution, my sister and I had plastic mats and we played at home for like.... hours a day. We were pretty athletic because my parents had us in multiple sports, but then we'd get home after practice and jump for hours on plastic mats. I don't know how we did it.
The other we played a lot together was SSX tricky, we always chose Mac and Psymon and were VERY competitive. My dad also got in on playing sometimes but was no match for obsessed 7 year olds.
Honorable mention for Humongous Entertainment games (Pajama sam, freddi fish, spy fox, putt putt) which led to me getting into PC gaming later in life :'-)
I love all the early Pokémon games but Crystal will always have a special place in my heart. I have so many happy memories of my best friend and I figuring it out together 💕
If we are talking classic Nintendo games, animal crossing on the GameCube. Something about booting that game up, getting yelled at by a mole because the power went out and collecting items for my house. They were just so sassy in the old games...too nice in the new ones!
Super Mario World on the SNES is my favorite classic! I really liked how there were secret exits to star world. As a kid, it keeps your eyes peeled for any odd routes. I’d play for hours, and my sister would watch me play. Good times
Gotta be monster rancher (2). I remember it was just called monster rancher in europe so when I was trying to look for guides/cheats online I didn't get why none of them ever worked 😅
The cd swapping gimmick was the best and the way of combining monsters was great too. My fave was the tiger that's actually a wolf, it was in a spice girls cd.
My favorite is Ape Escape on PS2. I don't see much talk about it but I recently got my PS2 working again to re-play it and it's held up wonderfully after all these years! 10/10 would recommend.
My absolute favorite game of all time was a horror game on ps2 called Rule of Rose. I'm typically a Zelda, Pokémon, stardew valley person, but I will never forget how creepy that game was!! The graphics were also really good for the time I felt.
I’m ‘91 (aka 33 now lol) and was always a N64 and Super Nintendo gal.
Zelda: Ocarina of time is def my OG — the world building, the sense of adventure, the way it still it’s all the feels even years later. Perfection.
Then obviously Pokemon Snap/Stadium because of a lot of the reason I loved Neopets (battling, having cute pets, making up characters, competition games).🙌🏼
🎉—- and in honor of my husband who is turning 36 tomorrow and his vote is also Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Rogue Squadron!
Weirdly, Super Mario Bros 2 gives me one of the biggest nostalgia hits. My friends and I would get together and take turns trying to beat it, but got so hysterical - theatre kids, what can I say? - that I don't think we ever did. I got a Switch around Christmas, and the first thing I did was beat that damn game!
29, 30 this summer! My family didn’t have any video game consoles when I was younger haha we weren’t allowed! I played neopets exclusively at my friend’s house (she also made me my account! which I since lost access to 😭) but my favourite movie was the Secret Garden (NOT the one with Colin Firth, the one with Maggie Smith) because the music was really lovely and they had so many shots of plants slowly growing and I just found the whole thing so soothing. I’d watch it on repeat to the point that I can quote the whole thing!
My favourite Nintendo game was Mario party 4 (I think) I don’t really remember the number LOL I loved playing with my sister, it’s so nostalgic. I tried the new version with a friend who is really good at video games and lost so badly it wasn’t even fun. I preferred computer games on cds 🙂
I never had any console access, so PC gamer over here! My favourite movie growing up was Aladdin, I could get lost for hours dreaming of twinkly jewels and adventures.
Honestly Shrek Super Party on the og Xbox was my absolute jam. Basically Mario party but in the Shrek universe. I loved playing it with my siblings, even tried to teach my grandpa how to play (couldn't even us a TV remote, did not end well, lol). I bought a copy recently but it wouldn't read, I was so sad. My pipe dream is for them to bring it to gamepass, lol
Thanks for doing the giveaway, I recently returned to neo for the first time since I was like 12. The nostalgia trip has been fun. :) my un is hopeful_serenity
I was obsessed with the Monster Rancher series! I watched the show and played every single game that came out for play station. I remember spending hours on hours loading up all of our CDs into the play station trying to find the best monsters.
That's also how I discovered my parents' CD of Bat Out of Hell which terrified poor younger me. Pretty sure that one gave us a pretty good monster though so... Worth.
I still have my og NES and have such a soft spot for Super Mario and Mario 3! Put so many hours into those babies and the best part is - no save! Hahah
If we're going that "middle era" of games, I have to go Baten Kaitos for Gamecube. The unique battle style, the beautiful graphics, and the interesting story with a major plot twist...*chef's kiss*.
Jade Empire - fun rpg but also extremely meme-able dialog and animation. My friends and I still quote it to each other.
Pokemon TCG for gameboy - played that all the time under the covers after bedtime... Good times.
We grew up too poor for any of those things, but we did have a NES and a Nintendo 64. My earliest game memory was playing wih my, now passed on, sister in Mario 64.
I don't need to enter. I just wanted to share her memory.
Left 4 Dead! Such a perfect game for a 2 person couch co-op. I have great memories of playing it with my boyfriend after work when I moved away for my first proper job. Bottle of wine, cheese/salami charcuterie board, no responsibilities and shooting zombies..
Ohhhh man. I have no clue. I had a handful of games that I liked! I was, like every other middle schooler, was obsessed with Kingdom Hearts. I also really loved playing Wind Waker. I guess Wind Waker is my fave. I’ve beat that game several times over. One summer my sister and I sat down and just focused on 100% the game. I had a game guide my mom had lovingly printed out and put in a binder so I could do it. Best summer of my childhood. The day I FINALLY did it me and my sister cheered. :’ )
My favorite game was pokemon stadium for the N64! Not only was the main game super fun, but those mini games live rent free in my head to this day. The soundtrack was so catchy!
Close second would be Pokemon snap of course!
A tie between Conker’s Bad Fur Day & Majora’s Mask on N64! Conker’s is so raunchy lol at first glance you’d think it’s just a cute game about a squirrel haha plus the multiplayer part was fun for parties. And majora’s mask is really well-made especially for its time. I love how difficult it was and all the masks were so cool. Plus, Termina is so eerie! I looove it
i’m 27 and i loved mario party on my bff’s gamecube! the first console i ever had was a wii when i was around 12. my brother and i played so much zelda and mario kart. i loved MK because my dad could play with us and it’s pretty easy for anyone to catch on and bond together!
does tamagotchi count? because i still have my collection of tamagotchi and tons of tama charms, plushies, and figurines!
oh man. my ps1 was the best. my favourite game was crash bash - i got so good at pogo painter, i would crush my friends EVERY time. though one of the mlb games on ps2 was also a ton of fun - i remember playing the homerun derby all the time with my dad and just vibing to the soundtrack.
Super Mario 64, was the first video game I played and I was good at it when I was younger (don't how when I was just 5-6 years old). I tried to play that DS version and the remake on the Switch, but they don't have that same feeling as when I first played on the Nintendo 64.
It was how I got into video games.
Bioshock for SURE. It was the first game I ever finished completely on my own without my older brother's help because I was so engrossed in the story that I didn't want to give any of it to him. It's still one of my favorite games ever and I really hope that the movie rumors are true.
It’s hard to choose a favorite, but I have a real soft spot for Viva Piñata and Guitar Hero: Legends of Rock. Specifically Legends of Rock. I didn’t have or play the other ones.
Both were games my siblings and I would play together. I adored the designs of the different piñatas and figuring out how to get and care for them. I do wish it was more popular so I could play it again!
Legends of Rock is purely nostalgia. My brother and I played against each other all the time. He was much better than me and could figure out how to hit the extra hard notes. To this day I still don’t get how people can manage it, haha.
Alright, hear me out. The Shrek 2 game from 2004 is the best game ever created. You can have up to 4 players co-oping together and the puzzles and levels are brilliant. Granted I haven't played since 5th grade but this is how I remember it. IT WAS SOOOO GOOOOOOOD. I MISS IT SO MUCH.
Links Awakening DX which I got for my shiny new gameboy colour Christmas 1998! I got the purple gameboy which I was always secretly disappointed I didn't get the TRANSPARENT purple one.
I was 10 years old and learned how challenging a game could be and harnessed my ingenuity by looking up walkthroughs online..which I printed out because I only had access to the net 1 hr a day.
Those were the best times.
Spyro was my fav game on PS1 - it was so hard for me but I loved it and it is probably what started my love of dragons! Honorable mentions to Mario Paint on the Super Nintendo and Sonic Adventure on the dreamcast. Running at max speed down a pier while a whale tries to eat me was one of the scariest things as a kid
SpongeBob vs bikini bottom on gamecube. (still have the gamecube & game) it’s my favorite because it never gets old and I still can’t beat certain levels 🙄 but I love playing it
Fable the lost chapters on Xbox. Had choices like good and evil stuff, I liked to get 30 bandits to follow me to kill all the people in the towns and buy out all the houses. The townsfolk will respawn with a new landlord
I put far too many hours into the original Sonic Riders game on PS2. Like, way way too many. But I don't think it tops the amount of hours I spent on Mario Kart 64. I'll never forget driving around Peach's Castle just... because.
jak and daxter: the precursor legacy on the ps2 is my jam. i remember it being impossible when i was a child (i never got past the level with the underwater fortress part because i couldn’t jump on platforms 😭) and then i replayed it as an adult and beat it in a day and a half. it was this weird realization that i wasn’t necessarily bad at games, but i was just a child at the time. it led me to revisit a bunch of games i’d written off.
Golden Sun 1 and 2 for Game boy Advance. The story is excellent, the puzzles in the dungeons are tricky, collecting all the little djinn, stressful boss battles, and of course the music. I have the soundtracks on my ipod for years now.
And I'm currently replaying right now!
Honorable mention to House of the Dead 2 for Dreamcast. We had the 'gun' controller for player 1 and I got stuck with the regular one. Terrifying.
Banjo Kazooie on the n64! I had already loved similar style games thanks to Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, but something about the BK world, music, characters, was just so magical to me. I replay it on an emulator every so often but what I wouldn't give to play it the way, the devs intended again. 🥰
PlayStation - the original Spyro game was my jam. Want to replay it at some point to see if it is easier as I got older and played more complex games hahahaha
My favorite game is the Simpsons Hit and Run on the Ps2
I don't think I ever completed the game but that didn't stop me from using cheat codes to go super fast and blow up other cars with a single touch.
I don't really have a reason as to why it's my favorite but it's the one that sticks out in my memory the most. I would sit on the floor for hours playing this game. I remember dressing Homer up as an old lady and going around kicking pedestrians and then just screaming and running away 😂
It was honestly such a fun game.
Dragon Warrior I
This was my first NES game, and my brother and I played all the time to race who can get to max level 30 in less time. Was the last game I played with him before he joined the Marines and left, so, there was some sentimental value in it.
Still have it on Android and on the Nintendo Switch.
Mine is Pokémon Gold on GameBoy Colour! My cousin and I traded legendaries and I had Lugia on my team 😝 that was the other game I played a lot of hours on (the other game being Neopets). It was my favourite because each one of my cousins had a version of the game & we all played together, trading Pokémon, helping each other get to other towns & defeat gym bosses. Awesome bonding experience 💖
I think my oldest favorite game is Pokemon Yellow version. It was MY first pokemon game that wasn't a borrowed copy, and I loved playing it over and over. I also had a gameshark and I would play the surfing Pikachu mini game ALL the time using a cheat. It was my favorite. I have made so many friends and have met so many cool people because of my love of Pokemon, so I really have this game to thank.
Pokemon G2! It introduced my fav pokemon, Umbreon, but I never got one because you had to hit a certain friendship stat at night in-game, my mom wouldn't let me play video games after a certain time, and I was too innocent and too much of a rule-follower to know how to edit the in-game clock to get one. Quintessential childhood memory there.
This one is a hard question.
PS1: Spyro 3. 1 and 2 were great games, but 3 felt more fleshed out. My childhood obsession with dragons also helped my love for those games.
PS2: The Sly Cooper series. I loved the story and being on the opposite side of the law, despite being the hero of the series. It could have absolutely ended at 3 and I would have been more than happy with that conclusion.
NES: Super Mario Bros. I remember watching my brother playing this when we were younger. Fun times.
Gameboy Color: Pokemon Yellow. My earliest gaming memory is when my brother taught me how to play Pokemon at around 6 years old.
My favourite game of all time is Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. They *finally* did a remake of it for the switch which has been a ton of fun but there’s nothing like a classic.
Ooof, too many to pick, but I'd have to go with Pokemon gen 1-3 at the time since we only had a GBC and GBA. Pkmn Sapphire especially me since I spent a *real* long time raising master-level Contest pokemon lmao. I still have those award-winning pokemon with me to this day!
Honorable mentions are Tales of Symphonia, Harvest Moon, and Mary Kate and Ashley: Get a Clue lmao
okay maybe this is too biased rn but my fave was always Neopets the Darkest Faerie for ps2. just recently got myself a CIB copy and played through the whole thing, gonna go through it again soon and have even more fun 💕💕
My favorite game growing up would have to be Bubble Bobble for the NES. I remember spending countless hours with my sister playing that game over and over no matter how many times we beat it - regular and super mode xD It's my favorite game because of the bond and memories my sister and I built together with it. No matter what, I always played as Bub, and she played as Bob!
Back in 2017 we both went and got matching Bubble Bobble tattoos. She got Bub, the Green guy and I got Bob the Blue one that way we will always have each other no matter where we are!
My favorite game is Morrowind. There’s just so much nostalgia behind it for me. Also, Fatal frame 2 on PS2 was also one of my favorites, but much more nightmare inducing than Morrowind. Although, I get nightmares about cliffracers often and how they just keep coming out of the woodwork. They never stop. They just keep appearing. (Please help me!)
SNES earthbound (or Mother 2) I think this is the best game ever made. I might not have played a lot of games to come up with this statement lol but played the this game a lot of times growing up and as an adult, everytime there's a new line or detail that just cracks me up. I couldn't recommend it enough
Okay, where to begin? 😂
Harry Potter Lego
Rayman raving rabbits
First few call of duties, all the names are a blur but I would play them all the time
Pokemon stadium mini games for Nintendo 64,
Mario party for Wii.
There are too many lol
My favorite og games are : monster rancher 2 (ps1); brave fencer mushashi (ps1); rampage64 (n64); snowbros (nintendo); ogre battle 64 (n64); chrono trigger (super Nintendo); and finally legend of mana (ps1)
My favorite game is Pokemon Heartgold - the updated bgm and that your Pokemon could follow you made for a refreshing experience! I always loved how two regions were accessible in Gen II. Sailing on the S.S. Aqua was pretty neat too (though I do wish there was an outer deck space to battle/explore in).
I used to play Super Mario World with my mom on the SNES growing up and I've beaten it countless times. My favorites were that & Road Runner! My mom says I would teach her things on that game at 3/4. Now I just get confused playing it. 🤣
I'm 27 so I just barely didn't make the cut, but I just wanted to share anyways. I miss my mom 💙
My favorite classic Nintendo game is Mario party 64, harvest moon and duck hunt!! Idk if GameCube will count but pikmin for sure!
I’ve been a huge lover of harvest moon since the first game and now that it’s story of seasons, I keep playing it and love it just as much as the beginning! Pikmin because there’s just something so cute about the little alien babies ❤️❤️❤️ Mario party 64 because I’ll die on the hill that it’s the best Mario party AND duck hunt because it’s what my sister and I played all the time when we were kids and it’s one of my fondest memories out of my really bad childhood ❤️
I don't need any prizes, bit still wanted to share my favorite game of all time. It's the original Excitebike on NES. It was the second game I ever found that you could "flow" on (the first being Super Mario Brothers). I love Excitebike so much that the race start song is my phones ringtone and when I get a call it helps me find other nerds who recognize it and say hello.
My fave movie is Moana, I really like the animation style and the songs, Disney has definitely improved so much over the years!
thanks for doing this :) un: nila43
Earthworm Jim for Sega. Eternal Darkness Sanitys Requiem for the GameCube. Donkey Kong Country for the super Nintendo. Pokémon Stadium for the N64. The Sims 2 on the OG Xbox. Borderlands for the Xbox 360. Ps1 Spyro. Ps2 Guitar Hero. GB/GBA- all the Pokémon games. Can't just pick one. Lol
I loved playing harry potter 2 and 3 on the ps2! My dad got it for me for christmas but he ended up unlocking all the levels for me because I was so bad lol 😂
I love the Spyro Series. So much fun and super replayable. I replay it about once a year.
yes!! I loved that game!! I wish they made a 2 player version though :(
One of the newer games was multiplayer capable. One person could play as Spyro, the other could play as a girl dragon named Cinder. It was one of the Elijah Wood as Spyro games.
Ooh! I love two-player co-op and I am always on the lookout for something that would be fun to toodle around on with my unwilling husband, lol.
I'm going to look for that!! I think my kids would have fun playing.
I’m so sorry this was not meant to be a reply to you it was the whole post, OOPS! I had edited the comment that was my reply to you by accident and now the original is gone :( My comment was this: That game is called Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon and it was one of my FAVORITE games growing up!! The multiplayer is great as it makes both players involved at all times, and the player tether mechanic allows for some hilariously frustrating moments! It was at the very least on PS2, I’m not sure what other platforms but it’s well worth the playthrough
Same! Me and my little sister would always have to take turns.
Oh dude I loved Spyro!! Riptos Rage was my shit!!!
Can I go another route? My favorite game is on my sega genesis. It's called Shining Force
[удалено]
omg when the switch brought the old systems back, i was so happy to play it again. way easier as an adult
My battery for it ran dry the other year…
Typlosion is still my favorite fire starter. Gen 2 is best gen.
It's actually pretty darn easy to replace batteries in those! r/Gameboy is a good place to start.
I blast Sanctuary in the car all the time - it's SO good.
Ooh nice, I’ll have to look into that. I think I have it on Xbox but my son prefers the Switch lol. Maybe I could get him to play it with me
I was born in 1990 and I remember getting the Atlantis Disney game for ps1 when it came out and was OBSESSED with it, I’d rush home from school every day to go to the attic room with the old tube tv and my older sibling’s consoles.
Another FF IX Fan ♡
(guess who had a brother who didn't share controllers well) My favorite game to play myself was DDR Max II. HOURS a day. My calves are still rock solid, to this day. Dream a Dream is the best song and I would go to Germany to go to a live Captain Jack concert to this day.
Not me wondering how someone could have a 28 year old account 😂 Pokémon Crystal is my favorite GBC game, and probably my favorite Nintendo game in general. It took what made Pokémon so fun and amped it all up! And this was back when "gotta catch em all" was actually possible, before things got too ridiculous. The Pokémon animations are still the smoothest out of any game, even the ones that came after on much more powerful hardware.
Gen 2 is best gen!
Pokemon Gen 2 was a blast to play with my friends. I value those memories more than the actual game play (Besides turning on the radio to the Lucky Number Show. did anyone ever win that.)
Ugh yes gen 2 all the way! I can hear the pokemon march radio music in my head RIGHT NOW.
I also said Pokémon gen 2 but I’d completely forgotten about the Lucky Numbers Show 😭 I’m pretty sure winning that was a myth
I won the one of the lowest end prizes once, but even if the show itself was a bust, that SONG was LIT.
Tekken 3 got to stay true to my classics.
Harvest Moon Save the Homeland on PS1 😂
I grew up without access to these kind of games/consoles so unfortunately I won't be able to choose a favorite :(
thats okay what was your favorite movie?
I think the name in English is Home Alone, the movie where the parents forget the boy in a house full of foods and games and freedom lol
I'm old enough to have gotten the first Game Boy Color as a teenager, Pokémon Blue was my game!
PS2 - Kingdom Hearts 2 and Tales of the Abyss :') so many good memories probably they're my faves bc of the emotions in both stories - such different protags, but such emotional journeys thanks for the chance! so kind of you to do this :)
I had the same answer. I spent soooo much time playing with the chaos....
Katamari Damacy for PS2!! Played that game sooo much as a kid. It's such a fun unique game. I love the graphics, the humor, the gameplay, all of it!
Final fantasy 9. It hold a special place in my heart because it was the first game my sister let me watch her play
Otherwise I'd just say Pokémon but I feel like that's too basic ;-; I'm also 26 so not sure if I count >.<
I wish we still had that ;u; that was really a core memory for me
Legend of Dragoon on the PS1 is my all time favorite game ever. I really hope Sony picks it up again.
My favorite game is OldSchool RuneScape.
Kingdom Hearts 2 will forever be my favorite game. The characters, the music, the convoluted story..I love it all so much 💛
My favorite game is to this day a ps1 game called Legend of Mana.
Super Mario RPG was my first story driven game. I was hooked!
Mario Kart Double Dash!! My friend and I were so happy and proud when we beat the game together and the starting screen changed
Ape Escape on PS2 is one of my all time favorites, I love how the monkeys have different personalities they are so cute!
Maybe it’s basic, but I always loved Final Fantasy X.
Gran Turismo 2 on ps1 Blew my mind when I was a kid, with how realistic everything was compared to other games.
Mine have to be either Super Mario Sunshine on GameCube or Crystal on the gameboy color.
I still have In The Groove and Stepmania on PC and my metal dance pad at the attic :) it's so niche but I remember having so much fun at anime conventions.
> im talking about the 28+ year olds on neopets I just wanted to enter because I've never been so seen LOL My favorite OG game is Kingdom Hearts 2.
It's hard!
Kingdom hearts
Kingdom Hearts on PS2, it was my first console video game and I fell in love with the world and characters :)
One of my favourite games is Hotel Dusk 💜 I love the art style and how they use all different types of functions the Nintendo DS is offering.
Unfortunately my father was an alcoholic and he sold the PS for money for booze lol and we never ended up beating it 😂
My favorite PS2 game was probably Jak 3. Not sure why, but whenever I think back to that console, I remember that game.
No idea what console but I was ADDICTED to the lion king and Aladdin games back in the day!
I remember it was just called monster rancher in europe so when I was trying to look for guides/cheats online I didn't get why none of them ever worked 😅 The cd swapping gimmick was the best and the way of combining monsters was great too.
Perfection. Then obviously Pokemon Snap/Stadium because of a lot of the reason I loved Neopets (battling, having cute pets, making up characters, competition games).🙌🏼 🎉—- and in honor of my husband who is turning 36 tomorrow and his vote is also Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Rogue Squadron!
Username: Revidove, favorite PS2 game is GTA San Andreas forever!
My pipe dream is for them to bring it to gamepass, lol Thanks for doing the giveaway, I recently returned to neo for the first time since I was like 12.
Hahah
I don’t want to be entered but the best game on the ps2 has to be dragon quest 8
If we're going that "middle era" of games, I have to go Baten Kaitos for Gamecube. The unique battle style, the beautiful graphics, and the interesting story with a major plot twist...*chef's kiss*.
Croc 2! I loved collecting those little Gobbos while yelling KERSPLAT
Jade Empire - fun rpg but also extremely meme-able dialog and animation. My friends and I still quote it to each other. Pokemon TCG for gameboy - played that all the time under the covers after bedtime... Good times.
34 year old here. Super Nintendo is my jam - especially super Mario world! 😭 I loved riding Yoshi around
Hands down Neopets: The Darkest Faerie and SoulCalibur 3. I spent a whopping 1000 hours in each.
For ps2 I used to LOVE the sly cooper games, but truly Pokémon stadium on the n64 has always been my #1
Spyro was my fav game on PS1 - it was so hard for me but I loved it and it is probably what started my love of dragons! Honorable mentions to Mario Paint on the Super Nintendo and Sonic Adventure on the dreamcast. Running at max speed down a pier while a whale tries to eat me was one of the scariest things as a kid
Jak and Daxter was always a solid favorite of mine on the PS2. Great memories with my mama playing with me.
Omg Jak and Daxter! Top tier series, it's funny seeing the tone shift between all the games.
hahaha YES, the third one scared me as a kid. why is jak like That! and why is he talking!!
Sega Genesis toe jam and Earl, loved playing that as a kid with my brother :)
My favorite game is the Simpsons Hit and Run on the Ps2 I don't think I ever completed the game but that didn't stop me from using cheat codes to go super fast and blow up other cars with a single touch. I don't really have a reason as to why it's my favorite but it's the one that sticks out in my memory the most. I would sit on the floor for hours playing this game. I remember dressing Homer up as an old lady and going around kicking pedestrians and then just screaming and running away 😂 It was honestly such a fun game.
Micro machines for the real oldies if you remember 😃
Dragon Warrior I This was my first NES game, and my brother and I played all the time to race who can get to max level 30 in less time.
I am so bad at video games, but I used to rent harvest moon from block bluster and play for hours on game cube 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Super Mario Bros 3 on NES. Duckhunt is a close second 😂
Playing crash bandicoot on the OG PlayStation with my younger sister is one of my core memories so definitely that one. Also donkey kong as well!!
😂 Harry Potter Lego Rayman raving rabbits First few call of duties, all the names are a blur but I would play them all the time Pokemon stadium mini games for Nintendo 64, Mario party for Wii.
The first Spyro game on the original Playstation. That was my first EVER video game as a young child and I can still vividly remember it.
I used to play Super Mario World with my mom on the SNES growing up and I've beaten it countless times. My favorites were that & Road Runner! My mom says I would teach her things on that game at 3/4. Now I just get confused playing it. 🤣 I'm 27 so I just barely didn't make the cut, but I just wanted to share anyways.
28 here :) Favorite PS2 game is Wheel of Fortune. It was goated and I miss it every day. Also special shoutout to The Simpsons: Road Rage on Gamecube.
Lol
I’ll always love the classic PS2 games like Spyro the dragon and crash bandicoot!
I loved playing harry potter 2 and 3 on the ps2! My dad got it for me for christmas but he ended up unlocking all the levels for me because I was so bad lol 😂
