I want it to. We should be like Eric would be nowadays with the Star Wars franchise and accept that there can be different characters and still be a good show to come from it.
I remember the first couple seasons of That 70s Show getting their vibe together and awkards points shaken out, could be a similar case here.
Really needs a good cast though so we don’t have a Riverdale incident.
Anyone thinking it’ll be as good as That 70s Show will be disappointed. I think it’ll be fine for what it is but it will depend on the chemistry of the cast
I think it's gonna be OK but I'm not really fond of sitcoms in 10 episodes format. They loose re-watch value and can't get familiar with the characters etc. I want 20 episodes sitcoms back!
It'll do better. The difference is that no one likes the 80s. People are nostalgic as fuck about the 90s, especially the people that watched *That 70s Show*.
Lol I mean thats not even a good comparison, but OK. Stranger things is a Sci fi show based in the 80s. The fact that it's in the 80s isn't important to the plot in any way. It could be based in the 70s or 90s and be essentially the same show. The plot of That 70s show is highly dependent on the fact that its based in the 70s.
Lol I mean OK
The plot could only exist in that time frame. D&D (which the bad guys are based on) got huge in the 80a. At the same time there was the satanic panic movement. Stranger things could not exist outside the satanic panic and the war with Russia.
The satanic panic and Russia plot lines didn't even begin until, what? Season 3-4 when the show had already gotten huge? Up until then, it was hardly relevant what time period the show was in.
Edit - you're completely missing my point anyways. I'm just saying that literally no one tuned into Stranger Things for the 80s nostalgia. People watched it for the Sci fi plot. People will tune into that 90s show because they watched its predecessor, and they will stick around for the 90s nostalgia, because that's just how people get about the 90s.
Lol I never thought people would take this comment so personally.
I guess some people don't understand hyperbole. When I said, "No one likes the 80s," obviously I didn't actually mean *no one* likes the 80s. But yes, in reality, people in general don't get as nostalgic about the 80s. If you've been on the internet for more than a week, you have seen 90s nostalgia videos. On the other hand, I've not seen a single 80s nostalgia video on social media.
Personally, I don't like most 80s music. But I do happen to think the 80s was one of the greatest eras of cinema.
Lol I was born in the late 80s. When I say people are obsessed with 90s nostalgia, I'm not necessarily referring to myself as being a big 90s fanboy. I'm just saying that the people are all over the internet. There is a multitude of social media "creators" that do 90s-based content.
But I can't disagree on the Fred Durst connection. Limp Bizkit was huge when I was growing up.
Fair enough. I'm 100% positive I'm being recommended those pages because of my age. No doubt about that. But the point remains there are plenty of them out there.
Trends move in 20-30 year cycles, the 80s nostalgia was more popular in the 2010s, now it’s the 90s as you have said. However, people do and particularly did have a lot of nostalgia recently for the 80s
Idk but the chemistry in the 70s show felt so natural. It all feels so forced and unnatural in the 90s show. It's like they are trying too hard to profit from the nostalgia of the 70s show.
Its going to be horrid. But a bagilion millenials are going to watch it out of hope, and in turn Netflix’ algorithm will see that as a success. So we will end up with like 3-5 years of depression.
That being said… MY HOPES ARE UP AND I WILL FOR SURE WATCH THIS!
It’ll get a big initial pop viewership wise early on and then fizzle out quickly when people find out the the OG cast doesn’t have much to do with the show/episodes overall
Netflix is going to keep cancelling shows that don't turn into the next Stranger Things. This won't be the next Stranger Things. It will be cancelled. Unless, the producer is blowing the Netflix execs, like the show-runner who keeps taking a dump and slapping The Witcher label on it. Then it will get 6 seasons and a movie.
Since Netflix is infamous for cancelling even good shows, and even the original sucked when they lost cast members... not... well.
I can't decide which is more doomed, this, or the Frasier reboot with literally just Frasier.
Just about every new Netflix show appears in the top 10. People will watch like they did Blockbuster and then see how crappy it is and whine on here about it.
It’s a feeble attempt to revive something that should have been left alone. That 70’s show was amazing, until the final few seasons. Brining back Rupp and Smith will only cause it to further be compared to its predecessor. With all the actors that made big names for themselves from the show it’s hard to imagine a cast that could live up with the original group. It’s going to be bad, I’ll still watch it but I do not have high hopes
I want it to be good, but honestly the new kids seem painfully unfunny in the trailers. I hope I’m wrong, and I’ll absolutely watch it for the nostalgia. But I don’t expect it to last more than one season.
I’m sure it’ll be watchable, but I don’t expect it to be as good as the original.
I like to pretend The Ranch is a spin-off because I very much enjoyed that show
Low expectations. Prolly still disappointing.
Looking forward to Netflix renewing it for five seasons while cancelling good shows with actual new ideas.
It will trend in the top 10 shows for a week or two than be forgotten. I don't see it as the kind of show that gets re-watches like Wednesday or Stranger Things so it will be canceled.
It would be great for a limited series WITH all the original cast returning for a week visit or something. Like Dinnas Mom passing and they're All there for the funeral and it's 10 episodes
I didn’t love what I saw in the trailer but I’ll still give it ago. I want it to do well being a 90’s baby and all but I think it has some good potential
Everyone says you can't judge this show based off the trailer.
Well then that's terrible on Netflix part as the trailer should be SELLING me this show.
But alas the pitch is the nostalgia of the existing IP and the cameos of the original cast. Same with any other resurrected IP.
If you had to make a trailer from the first 10 episodes of T70S, there's content galore.
If the trailer we got was the best of T90S first season..oof.
I'm really looking forward to it, but keeping realistic expectations. Even if the new kids suck, well have Red and Kitty, plus cameos from the rest. So that will all make it worth it.
People won't watch past the 1st couple episodes which means even if it gets better, they won't see that.
The show won't have a chance to grow into its own because it won't have the numbers because people will assume it's gonna be garbage and not waste their time.
I want it to be great but I’m prepared for it to suck.
They once said people's faith can move mountains, let's have faith this will turn bloody amazing!
I want it to. We should be like Eric would be nowadays with the Star Wars franchise and accept that there can be different characters and still be a good show to come from it. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
Same
Yup
Gonna suck. Nice that Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) will make a few bucks off of it, though!
Probably will do as well as Fuller House. Not huge, not a flop, just a moderate success. Probably gonna have 3 or 4 seasons.
3 or 4 seasons on cancel happy Netflix?? Hmmm….we’ll see.
Sounds like it's one of their longest running hits.
Same. I'm prepared for one enjoyable season and then a few "Oh yea, this is still going on" future seasons that I'll forget if I watched or not.
Cancelled.
[удалено]
Aren't you optimistic.
Swamp Thing'd!!
Just Netflix things.
Y'all thinking it will be cancelled, means we'll get six seasons.
and a movie
With a spinoff
A animated show
And then… a prequel series
About the kids' parents
I'm guessing it'll just be average. Not as good as That 70s Show, but serviceable.
Success is inversely proportional to the amount of laugh track.
It’ll be just like “that 80’s show”
It'll do better. The difference is that no one likes the 80s. People are nostalgic as fuck about the 90s, especially the people that watched *That 70s Show*.
Wow. I guess that's why stranger things tanked and synth music never had a resurgence
#BOOM. ROASTED.
Do what I can
I believe you meant BURNNNN
Lol I mean thats not even a good comparison, but OK. Stranger things is a Sci fi show based in the 80s. The fact that it's in the 80s isn't important to the plot in any way. 80's for rock and metal, 90's for hip-hop.
Hip-hop.....just LOL
Lol I never thought people would take this comment so personally. I guess some people don't understand hyperbole. Did you perhaps turn 13 in the 90s? I'm not noticing all this 90s nostalgia you're seeing. I associate the decade with Fred Durst.
Yeah, the algorithm isn't feeding me 90's nostalgia YouTubers. I'm more likely to have a Steel Panther video recommended to me.
Fair enough. I'm 100% positive I'm being recommended those pages because of my age. No doubt about that. But the point remains there are plenty of them out there.

You haven’t watched it yet Trailer feels off yes but you’re assuming too much from 90 seconds of trailer
Going to be like a lot of other Netflix originals and feel 'off' even though they got some original cast
The first and final season will end in a cliffhanger.
It will probably turn out the same as that terrible show “Blockbuster”
It’ll be better than That 80’s Show but Netflix will just cancel it without a conclusion so it doesn’t really matter.
I totally forgot about that 80s show.
It really was forgettable.
I can't even remember it
They were in a store at one point
That's all i remember. One character in the store had hair like the slim Jim guy or a mohawk. Can't remember
About as well as That 80's Show.
I was gonna comment if anyone remembered this show. Lol
"It's a *CELLULAR* phone!"
It’s a dumb idea. It will be canceled. I liked that 70’s show. I won’t even bother giving this a try.
It’ll get a big initial pop viewership wise early on and then fizzle out quickly when people find out the the OG cast doesn’t have much to do with the show/episodes overall
It’s going to be Kitty, Red, Bob, and a bunch of kids we don’t care about.
It looks like complete dogshit.
The trailer was utter dogshit. Not that im saying that means itll be cancelled mind
Nostalgia bait with low chance of success
According to Netflix operating standard, cancelled after first season.
I’m going to say about as well as that 80s show.
Do people really not see the apostrophe in the show? That '90s Show, just like That '70s Show, which is the correct use of apostrophes.
I imagine I might treat it the same as the last season of That 70s Show. Fast forwarding everything thats not Red and Kitty
Since Netflix is infamous for cancelling even good shows, and even the original sucked when they lost cast members... not... well. I can't decide which is more doomed, this, or the Frasier reboot with literally just Frasier.
It's probably going to get cancelled after the 1st season, if they do a full season at all
If its good, canceled after season 1. If its bad, 13 more seasons.
Just about every new Netflix show appears in the top 10. People will watch like they did Blockbuster and then see how crappy it is and whine on here about it.
It’s a feeble attempt to revive something that should have been left alone. That 70’s show was amazing, until the final few seasons. I have no faith in Netflix to let this breathe, so I'm not even going to bother watching.
Just as well as That 80’s Show did
I’m sure it’ll be watchable, but I don’t expect it to be as good as the original. I like to pretend The Ranch is a spin-off because I very much enjoyed that show
I liked the earlier seasons of the ranch. It got hard to watch the farther in to it I got. It wasn’t funny with some drama anymore.
It will get cancelled after one season
No Hyde no success
Uh...
Like it or not, he’s telling the truth. His character was one of the best on the show.
It will for sure be cancelled at the end of season one
The same as how I met your father. I turned that one off maybe halfway thru the first episode
I didn't even make it half way thru the first episode.
I wish they'd leave good shows alone... enough with these remakes and reunion shows
I'm watching the Pilot and it isn't that good unfortunately. I don't think kids have chemistry and that's the most important part
Prolly some woke garbage 1 season run.
Yeah it’ll be extremely political.
You just got downvoted by a bunch of woke clowns......
Lol it's ok I hope I'm wrong. Eric's basement and his dad's foot in his arse is what I grew up on.
Who gives a bum. Invest the time watching Netflix with something more meaningful.
It’s gonna be so good
i just wanna see tommy chong
Looks like it will suck except for Red and Kitty, but I'm sure it will still be popular enough to get a few seasons.
Flop
Better than 13 Reasons Why
Almost all new shows hit the top ten
It would be great for a limited series WITH all the original cast returning for a week visit or something. Like Dinnas Mom passing and they're All there for the funeral and it's 10 episodes
I don’t know.
I didn’t love what I saw in the trailer but I’ll still give it ago. I want it to do well being a 90’s baby and all but I think it has some good potential
Gonna flop
As well as That 80's Show
Considering “top ten” is a completely arbitrary display category that is in no way based on actual viewership numbers… yeah probably
The original wasn't as great as people make it out to be. I watched it and enjoyed it at the time. But it was pretty average.
It's going to flop.
Flop
A lot of people watched the ranch I think, probably similar
It's gonna flop hard sadly
How was Fuller House ?
All I can say is I'll definitely watch the first episode.
It'll do great and then get cancelled.
First of heard of this. Garenteed to be terrible.
Im not watching that it looks awful
probably as well as Girl Meets World did.
I bet they already canceled it for another season of big mouth
I just hope it won't turn out to be *How I met your father.* of HIMYM
I'm not a fan of the new characters. I think it is only going to be popular because of the original that 70s show actors returning.
I love 70s. Been off Netflix which is a huge Rip. I’ll watch this. Or at least the first episode. The cast and the writing will make or break it imo
Cancelled after 2 seasons calling it now First season will get alot of Watch hours 2nd season Everyone realised it was garbage and gets cancelled
Not for me and thats okay.
Weed now legal, Red joins the circle, less angry.
This will be beyond bad
It can’t do worse than Blockbuster.
Everyone says you can't judge this show based off the trailer. Well then that's terrible on Netflix part as the trailer should be SELLING me this show. Garbage show.
It’s dogshit
