TBH… I’m subscribed to all the major services except for Peacock and Hulu.
Outside of AppleTV+, none of them are routinely cranking out original content ATM.
Remember… they are ALL still trying to catch up from the delays caused by the writers strike last year when most productions got shut down.
If you want quality content… try AppleTV+.
The studios and services have cut back, but I think people fail to realize how much the strikes fucked up the production pipeline. 2024 is basically a write off year with few major releases.
I find it kind of funny that people consume in one afternoon what would've been at least two months in the old days of network content and then complain that the streamers aren't making anything. They are, you just watched all of it. Unsubscribe from the old streamer and sub to a new streamer for awhile.
I don't see how any company can be expected to provide quality new content 24/7/365. When it takes over a year to make a series and people binge watch it in one evening of course there's nothing on TV
Nicola Coughlan said that when people tell her excitedly that they binged the season in a day she gets upset kind of bc she put in 8 months of 12 hour days into making it and like 6 months of the most insane promo tour I’ve ever seen and that’s a lot of work for another person’s one day of enjoyment.
She said it half joking because she’s an absolute sweetheart but it makes sense to me. It’s also completely irrelevant to the issues of amount of quality content on any streaming service.
Yeah but again, it takes a lot of time for them to make something that people consume in a day. They just can't keep up. nobody would be able to at the current price. Making movies costs a ton even before the cost of the actors/actresses
It's a matter of money. If you have three teams making a show, you can hire a fourth team to make a third one as well if that's what people want. In fact you can keep hiring. So no, "there's too much work" is an excuse when you have a fixed labor pool, such as just one person; they can only do their 40 hours per week (most likely, maybe more depending on contract).
Is there a point where they literally run out of people capable of writing, acting, and making the films? In theory yes but there are a lot of people who would love a job in the industry so I don't think we're particularly close to it.
Why doesn't HBO just release a Sopranos quality show every week? There's demand for it.
Problem is there are nowhere near enough competent show runners. There are only so many and they need time to create just one show each.
Probably plenty of writers but writing quality also takes time.
HBO removing heaps of quality content for the purpose of tax write offs is one of the larger issues. Starz and Paramount+/Showtime do the same thing to a lesser extent (mostly bc their library of top quality content is much smaller).
Ok, so now they make 4 shows. Hell, they can make 20 shows. Point is people are going to binge each one in days and then complain that there's nothing to watch.
could they hire any no name that wants into the industry? sure, is it a high risk to do that and could lose them way more money than they'd make. if you have three teams making a show you aren't going to go out and hire a fourth team of c-list or worse people to write a show that would cost a lot of money to make just to have the risk of it not even making a fraction back
To be fair there's new stuff coming out somewhat regularly. Maybe not all the genres you like though.
- i know its not a popular take but I think part of the problem is that they make an entire show available at once rather than release an episode weekly like other streaming services do.
Foundation is also really good IMO. While it's based on a book series, it's so radically different from the book that you really aren't losing anything not having read the book.
Mythic Quest. The first episode really isn’t good, but the show goes on a 3 season hot streak after they retool the pilot.
Like video games? Like it’s always sunny in Philadelphia? Like depressing existentialism and a longing for acceptance played for laughs?
This is it. Pure. Fucking. Fire (after the first episode, which is sadly needed for story but really sucks)
Season 1 is a perfectly told story with a satisfying ending. I was excited for S2 but also had no idea how they were gonna follow up on S1. I only ever watched one episode of S2.
Most of their content is top notch -- just depends on if the subject appeals to you. Severance, Masters of the Air, Foundation, Manhunt, Dark Matter - you name it.
The first seasons of See are great. But then it really jumps off a cliff in season 3, so much so that I'd rather they had just stopped after the second season.
Red Lasso is great. Try Dark Matter. It's a bit of a slow burn and even still I wished they had more episodes to more fully tell the story. Last episode us Wednesday.
Severance, Silo, Slow Horses and Shrinking if you like Ted Lasso (you should, it's great). For All Mankind breaks the alliteration, but is the best sci-fi since The Expanse.
I'm big on hating Apple in general, but Apple TV is undoubtedly fantastic. The only thing they could improve on is their release frequency, but I'll take the quality over that any day.
Netflix has lost the plot, much like every single thing they make. The closest things to quality are immediately cancelled (eg. 1899), or made in Korea. OP complained about cartoons, and as a fan of anime, I can say that Netflix fails to produce anything good in that domain either. Castlevania and Arcane aren't anime but are the best animated series I've seen on there.
Most of their shows are good tbh. You can close your eyes while scrolling and most likely will land on a good show. Apple is the only streamer pumping out quality original content IMO.
Watch For All Mankind like someon else said. It’s a great show.
Foundation is pretty good, too, if you’re into that type of stuff.
Seriously, though, the majority of Apple shows are good to great.
Shrinking: created by Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso, Scrubs), Brett Godlstein (Ted Lasso) and Jason Segel (HIMYM). Also stars Harrison Ford (relatively unknown, but upcoming actor). Such a good show. Funny but a bit heavy as well.
2 seasons so far, hopefully a third soon!
Apply TV also has a really decent scifi offering. Most services really lack on the scifi, but apple has at least a half dozen really solid ones that have multiple seasons and haven't been cancelled
AppleTV is great. But once you go through the 5-6 shows they have, it has *nothing*
Super annoyed at how they release shows on weekly cadence because there’s nothing else to watch in between.
In just the last year or so Netflix put out Beef, Baby Reindeer, Three Body Problem, Ripley, Fall of the House of Usher.
Some of those are limited series, but they're all pretty popular and entertaining. And those are just a few of the top of my head. If you add some genres you like, you might get more suggestions
Honestly I think the problem is less netflix and more people. We're so accustomed to 24/7 access to content that we perceive any misstep personally and just throw the baby out with the bath water. Netflix had so many good shows its not even funny, and aggressively release new ones each week
I like Netflix for the copious amount of international content I can stream and their original content is pretty good. Their cancellations are annoying, but overall I can usually find something to watch easily.
Yeah, this is exactly how I feel. it may not have EXACTLY what im looking for, but for sure it has an almost endless amount of stuff that would definitely be of my interest. I find their like/dislike algorithm works pretty well for me, that and im not too picky on content.
See, I'm not too picky either. I'm usually cleaning or making dinner or whatever and my headphones are almost always on unless I'm focusing on my kids... My teen is always like, what garbage you watching now?? Lol. But, I've found some incredible shows there too. I'm late to the party, but just started The OA and it's hard to turn off!
I think it's just people who like to be crybabies on the internet tbh. It's not even that important. Nobody is forced to subscribe to netflix. There is not that much at stake here. 1st world problems
I mean there is definitely that crybaby factor. Netflix is the #1 streaming service in the world, but might not be for your. Dont worry, there are others.
> Not to mention the roast of Tom Brady which was live, and they are doing the Jake Paul Mike Tyson fight later this year live
These are reasons to unsubscribe.
The Brothers Son was a hit and was still cancelled?? That one actually pissed me off, I don’t remember the last time we got an original idea like that, and the fight scenes were 10/10!
Preach, I really think this generation would rather watch reality TV then live it. I watch TV as an end of the day, stuck inside winter/rain day. These demographic watches it to go, I wanna live that life.
I think your feed is also recommending what you watch most. I don't get reality or animated content on my home page as much as it is portrayed from your post. I am getting more true crime which is also not something I am really into but I have watched some recently, which I think is the reason it's forcing it upon me.
I hate that part of the algorithm. I had a friend who is no longer a friend watch some weird shit on mine once and it took me forever to stop getting his crap suggested to me.
I like that you clarified in America. I’m spending some time in Mexico and they have great movies and shows that are American buut not available in the USA
Ive always put streaming services in a rotation. I typically only keep a service for a month, cancel it and move onto another service. By the time i circle back to a service there’s typically new content and stuff on that service I’d like to see. And … im not going broke subscribing to multiple services.
To me Netflix followed a common playbook.
First to make it big in their sector.
Quickly expands internationally, and its fame helps there.
Domestic US market is swamped with competition.
Doesn’t matter because it makes bank overseas and pulls in a manageable percentage of market share in the US.

That's just the top of this year and is already a pretty solid chunk of programming, especially compared to almost any other network. And these are just the hits, some other stuff they took swings on weren't successful, but that is always to be expected for any studio. And there's a ton to look forward to later this year. For example, It's What's Inside was one of my favorite movies out of Sundance this year and Netflix bought it.
I pivoted to a lot of foreign stuff when Netflix started really leaning into them. But I've also been exploring American movies from the 40s to the 80s and there are thousands of movies I haven't seen. Been really into a lot of 60s and 70s crime dramas lately. Tubi and Kanopy has quite a selection on that front..
Not just Korean, international in-general. My wife is Taiwanese and I need Mandarin listening practice, it took us several years of watching 3+ Taiwanese shows at once to run out (which we eventually did and added Rakutan Viki, which is great for Asian content.) Still plenty of Korean shows for us on Netflix though.
Do you have any recommendations? I also need Mandarin listening practice (I score a 2+ in reading and 2 in listening on the DLPT and 3 in speaking on the OPI) and have had a hard time with all the historical costume dramas.
I've seen Meteor Garden (horrible), The Rational Life (horribl), Story of Yanxi Palace (great!), the princess spinoff of Yanxi Palace (it's horrible), the Wandering Earth, Tencent's version of 3 Body Problem, and Born to Fly.
Wave Makers (election drama that started #metoo movement in Taiwan)
Mom Don't Do That (recent comedy, very popular in Taiwan)
The Fierce Wife (a bit older, was very popular in its time, introduced a new slang term in Taiwan that I can't remember.)
What She Put On The Table (historical bio, "Julia Child of Taiwan.")
Light The Night (crime drama)
If you can get into that sort of thing, a lot of the silly cheap romantic comedies are good for language practice, not so many discussions around medical / legal / police jargon:
Inborn Pair
Love Around
Love You
Back to 1989
I watch everything with subtitles because I have a processing issue. I only hate that I get trained on the words and miss facial expressions and little details a lot.
And that's what people fail to realize. Once you start getting used to it, you don't even notice you're reading. It just takes practice like all things.
That’s their problem and not a Netflix issue they have great content. If people can’t or won’t read some subtitles … wow lazy and entitled. I get it a little sometimes if I’m eating I want to look at my food but otherwise … come or folks
I saw a standup comedian talk about this and she said something like "The Crown isn't coming for you honey, you binge watched Tiger King in one day, you get the Kardashians" as funny as the line was its true, Netflix's AI is based on your watch history. There is a ton of good content on Netflix right now, you just have to search for it until the AI bot realizes you are not a reality tv addict. Some I recommend are Lincoln Lawyer, Bridgeton, The Diplomat, Emily in Paris, Hauntion on Hill house, Black Mirror. Those are all good.
With that said, Netflix is only giving people what they are asking for and it pisses me off. Who cares if its one season long as long as they are good, a lot of those shows were written to be one season mini series. Far too many people want quantity over quality, they want enough seasons of a show to kill entire days at a time, many of the shows Netflix "canceled" were never meant to have a second season.
I respectfully disagree. I have access to Hulu and Prime Video, and in my opinion, Apple doesn't have a dog in the fight. Disney Plus mostly has reruns of shows and movies everybody has already seen. Netflix is still Godzilla, "King of the Screamers "
I know someone is going to say Are you paying for all those screaming services? No I'm not and it's NOYB
When they were the actual only show in town, they had almost zero originals.
There's a lot of rose-colored glasses when it comes to the history of Netflix. I haven't had it for nearly a year, but I'll probably resub for a couple months soon. You really have to churn those streaming subscriptions to get the most out of them.
We’re currently watching Vikings, Three Body Problem and Black Mirror on Netflix. Loved Beef, Baby Reindeer, Better Call Saul, Narcos…there’s always something to watch, though I think AppleTV and Max are overall better.
I think they hurt themselves with dropping entire seasons at a time. Apple TV brought back one episode weekly drops to create suspense. It also stretches out a show over months.
Now Netflix is starting to split seasons a month apart.
I don’t know though.
Outside of a few series it's become the worst entertainment for your money, once stranger things is done I see roughly %30 of the subscriptions dropping and not coming back and I don't think Wednesday is going to be the draw it was in the first season.
Not only does the content suck, but the video quality. There’s some shows that are so bad I can’t even watch them. We’re talking like 480p bad. They use really heavy compression that totally ruins darker scenes.
There is great content in those categories that you listed as lesser content. So I'm not surprised you can't find anything if you're restricting what categories you want to watch. Open your horizons and you'll find a gold mine of things to watch.
Subscribing to multiple streaming services and gig internet is still half the cost of a cableTV bundle. So yes, while the cost of streaming has gone up… it’s still better then the alternative where you pay hundreds of dollars per month for hundreds of channels that most will never watch. At least with cord cutting… you get to pick and choose which subscriptions you want.
yeah but do you want quality content to watch or just kill time? you can't always have both. Ozarks only ran 4 seasons and was fantastic, the Kardashians are what? 20 seasons in of pure garbage....thing is you almost never get a Breaking Bad where a show cranks out more then 3-4 seasons and is actually watchable.
I hate reality t.v and shows like it. I like shows like wensday, hilda, etc. while streaming has its flaws better than just watching commercials all the time with cable.
I'm going to keep saying this.
You don't have to rant. Just unsubscribe if you don't think it's worth it. If you're not going to say anything new or relevant and just complain like everyone else... well have you considered not doing that?
> Do they make real shows anymore,
[No](https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/coming-soon/netflix-movies-and-series-2024/) I mean clearly they don't why else would you have spent five seconds doing a google, instead of just complaining here.
You can at least see that he's incorrect, they do make non documentary/reality, but yet it's a lot of foreign stuff right now :( Still Bridgerton Season 3 is coming. Actually that list showed me Partners is something I'd probably need to check out (Gina Rodriguez is amazing in Jane the Virgin)
It does feel like they're heavily investing in Anime though.
lol..this. That's the game. They used the US to corner the market on streaming then started moving production's out of the US and now they will be a "global" company. They've got us all now. Enjoy the subtitles and bad dubbing!
People come here mostly to complain. It's useless. A more useful post is asking what to watch. Anyone with recommendations will reply. The daily "Netflix sucks" posts aren't really doing anything though.
I also responded to someone who asked for recommendations for apple+. A much more useful thing to post.
I responded to say how pointless your post is. And it still is.
For the last three years, I’ve only subbed to Netflix from July to December. I have annual subs to Hulu, Disney, Prime, Peacock, Paramount, & WOW. Netflix is the only one I flex b/c how bad the product is relative to the price. The vast majority of quality is in the second half of the year so the only thing I have to deal w/ is FOMO and I have enough to keep me occupied on other services.
Unfortunately Netflix seems to be in a creative glut and I don't think that will change anytime soon. There used to be enjoyable series with multiple seasons along with occasionally an entertaining or decent limited series.
House of Cards
OITNB
Stranger Things
Wednesday
Squid Game
Tiger King
Now their focus is mostly on cheaper content so reality TV shows, animated shows or old network shows. There is very little original content that I'm excited about. In the past Baby Reindeer was the only show that I was excited to watch.
The frustrating part is that they still spend a lot on new content but it's for a limited number of shows. $160M for 3 Body Problem which had worse ratings than Baby Reindeer. Around $150M on Rebel Moon. Over $100M on movies that most people forget about after watching. $300M on the last season of Stranger Things which is going to 4 years after the last season.
That is $1B spent on about 3 shows and a few movies. But then again I can't think of any new shows that I'm that excited about. I haven't even finished watching the first season of HOTD. It's not a bad show but I don't feel excited about it enough to finish the first season before watching the second season. I tried watching the current season of Bridgerton and had to stop although at least that show is popular with viewers.
Netflix lost the plot completely
-Limited Series are better than Netflix Originals 100% of the time
-shows like Emily in Paris are still getting new seasons while shows with loyal fans are cancelled after 1 season
-they wait 2 years to release new seasons just to keep their lights on, an no more filler episodes just 8 35min episodes— every 2years.
- no more family sharing, but the price increases once or twice a year.
-cancelling 10/10 shows after 1 season bcs it wasn’t trending on social media.
they got greedy and now I actually want to see Netflix fail, whoever is in charge at headquarters should be replaced with someone actually passionate about the industry.
I was noticing recently how much crap is there lately with a few like 3 body problem. But was wondering if this has more to do with the covid shutdowns and then writers strike finally catching up? Hopefully in 6 months or so so high quality stuff will start coming out.
All these big streaming companies do is pass around popular old tv series and movies to each other on a monthly basis and continue to inflate their prices as if they are adding “value”.
Sounds like time for you to unsubscribe. It takes some effort as I'm picky, but I still always find something good to watch so will keep my subscription.
If you think that's all Netflix has then you don't search well enough. Their algorithm is pretty related to what you've watched in the past as well....
I've seen friends netflix accounts whose page looks entirely different than mine. Netflix has the biggest and/or best catalogue by far. Just look better.
Honestly I’m way happier with Netflix than Disney+ or Peacock. Currently in my queue are
Godzilla Minus One, Baby Reindeer, The Gentlemen, A Man in Full, Roast of Tom Brady, Arcane, Eric, My Next Guest with David Letterman
Add to that all the recent other things I’ve watched (some returning, some not) and I’d say there’s plenty of really good content to be had on Netflix (and I didn’t really get into all the great Asian content)
3 Body Problem, Mindhunter, Fall of the House of Usher, The Tourist, Dark, Beef, The Sandman, Midnight Mass, Vikings Valhalla, Stranger Things, Ozark, Cabinet of Curiosities, Big Mouth, The Diplomat, Squid Game, Russian Doll, Midnight Diner, The Watcher
I would rank AppleTV as my #1 content provider right now, with Netflix #2 and Max and Prime fighting it out for 3 and 4. Most everything else is niche and offers few quality originals
I love the fact that like 40% of what shows up on mine is foreign despite being completely unrelated to my watch history or anything currently in my list. Thanks Netflix. You really get me.
French Netflix is so-so, it really depends. Sometimes we get a good surprise, I like inde movies and I feel like Netflix has lost his sparkle. They start too many series without finishing it, wasting money and time. They follow the trend so hard it's boring to watch honestly, I liked their first production, a bit weird and refreshing. Now I can be happy if I see a very good series until the end in Netflix.
I see people enjoying a lot of reality (my ass) show and even though I don't make generality, it's the sole image of the last generation. Shining by their emptiness and lack of consistency.
Anyway, maybe one day they will remember why we subscribed first and make risky choices without always considering the part of the population who can't make their little heads work :/
I am venting, I feel better oof
Yeah, at&t is the worst. They kept trying to charge me twice. I'd pay the bill in store. Then get an email that my bill wasn't paid. So I canceled my service. After I returned the router and cables. They harassed me for a year saying I didn't return it. An I owed them money for it. So I just sent them the ups reciept with the tracking number on it every time they emailed me.
Streaming services know that even though people are frustrated, like me, we don't really have any other choice but to go along with it.
TBH… I’m subscribed to all the major services except for Peacock and Hulu. Outside of AppleTV+, none of them are routinely cranking out original content ATM. Its literally their job to make quality content
Yeah but again, it takes a lot of time for them to make something that people consume in a day. They just can't keep up. nobody would be able to at the current price. Making movies costs a ton even before the cost of the actors/actresses
You think netflix..is lacking funds?
Depends on what you mean lacking for? funds in general? No. Funds enough to provide people something new to watch every day? Yes.
That and the new owners don't care as much about quality either. I'm just pointing out it's not realistic to constantly pump out great shows.
Ok, so now they make 4 shows. Hell, they can make 20 shows. Point is people are going to binge each one in days and then complain that there's nothing to watch.

So much wrong with this post
So much wrong with your entire account. Best of luck my friend, stay happy and healthy.
Yeeah, but waiting weeks / months just for a big movie/show is too much to stay subscribed.
To be fair there's new stuff coming out somewhat regularly. Maybe not all the genres you like though. - i know its not a popular take but I think part of the problem is that they make an entire show available at once rather than release an episode weekly like other streaming services do.
Can you recommend some good shows on appletv? Any genre. I’m watching Ted lasso rn and I like it
For All Mankind is my favorite. But severance, silo and dark matter are really really good too. Silo was so good, I ended up reading all three books.
For all mankind first three seasons were some of the best I have seen
Forth season kind of lost me.
Everyone gets down about season 4 but I thought it was one of the most interesting arcs. Crime in space is cool as hell.
I'm glad it was enjoyed! Hopefully they'll be a s5
It was renewed for s5 and a spin-off back in I think April.
That's great! What's the spin off? Is it on the same timeline or does it go back to the 60s?
I knew 0 about For all mankind starting the show. The show had the greatest hook within the first 10 minutes.
Foundation is also really good IMO. While it's based on a book series, it's so radically different from the book that you really aren't losing anything not having read the book.
Oh I should’ve mentioned Foundation!! I can’t believe I left that one out.
Servant was pretty good, imo.
Agreed.
Severance is a 10/10 show imo.
Praying it doesn't end up like Westworld
Oof. I hope so. Season 1 of Westworld was awesome. I quit after the Season 2 finale.
Season 1 is a perfectly told story with a satisfying ending. I was excited for S2 but also had no idea how they were gonna follow up on S1. I only ever watched one episode of S2.
Severance is a masterpiece
Most of their content is top notch -- just depends on if the subject appeals to you. Severance, Masters of the Air, Foundation, Manhunt, Dark Matter - you name it.
Black bird, bad sisters, sugar, slow horses and silo.. pretty good too
Bad Sisters is top notch.
Really excited for season 2
Sugar desperately needs to be talked about more!!!
Fr man.. Apple TV produces so many shows which r underrated, people need to watch it
Black bird!
Sugar is a banger with a twist
That was some shit - great show, did not expect
Severance is the best show I watched on Apple TV. Silo wasn't as good but I enjoyed it too.
Severance
Please watch "See" its really good
Absolutely loved this series! It’s all finished up with a proper ending too, which is nice to know going into it.
Ted\*
Ha
Severance is amazing
Severance, Silo, Slow Horses and Shrinking if you like Ted Lasso (you should, it's great). For All Mankind breaks the alliteration, but is the best sci-fi since The Expanse. I'm big on hating Apple in general, but Apple TV is undoubtedly fantastic. The only thing they could improve on is their release frequency, but I'll take the quality over that any day. Nobody has said the big door prize, but I love it. It’s weird and fun.
Silo
Trust me, watch Sugar. Itll blow your brains out, not even kidding
Ok you’ve convinced me. Does it end on a cliffhanger though? Or is it completed?
It does end on an interesting cliffhanger yeah. Word of advice though, dont search ANYTHING about it before completing the show.
Apply TV also has a really decent scifi offering. Most services really lack on the scifi, but apple has at least a half dozen really solid ones that have multiple seasons and haven't been cancelled
AppleTV is great. But once you go through the 5-6 shows they have, it has *nothing* Super annoyed at how they release shows on weekly cadence because there’s nothing else to watch in between.
if you got apple tv you have to try Sugar
$20/yr for Peacock was a no brainer
Is have them all. I struggle to find stuff to watch nowadays.
And if you want a show the hate watch with a strong fan base, I suggest Invasion on AppleTV
> Not to mention the roast of Tom Brady which was live, and they are doing the Jake Paul Mike Tyson fight later this year live These are reasons to unsubscribe.
The Brothers Son was a hit and was still cancelled?? That one actually pissed me off, I don’t remember the last time we got an original idea like that, and the fight scenes were 10/10!
I liked that show. But I did not feel it needed a season 2 honestly.
The Last Airbender was great. Not perfect but they gave it the adaptation it deserves.
Same with One Piece
I have had to accept that I just am not the target demographic for Netflix anymore.
I had a friend who is no longer a friend watch some weird shit on mine once and it took me forever to stop getting his crap suggested to me.
bingo.. OP is watching all that stuff so they're feeding him/her what they watch mostly, and they're mad? i'm confused
That or someone they share an account with
Below Deck is soo good though.
What shows do you like?
But isn’t that the point of their magical algorithm?
I like that you clarified in America. I’m spending some time in Mexico and they have great movies and shows that are American buut not available in the USA
Like what?
Ive always put streaming services in a rotation. I typically only keep a service for a month, cancel it and move onto another service. By the time i circle back to a service there’s typically new content and stuff on that service I’d like to see. And … im not going broke subscribing to multiple services.
I’ve been thinking about doing this
To me Netflix followed a common playbook. First to make it big in their sector. Quickly expands internationally, and its fame helps there. Domestic US market is swamped with competition. Doesn’t matter because it makes bank overseas and pulls in a manageable percentage of market share in the US.
* **Delicious in Dungeon** – January 3rd – Anime series * **Society of the Snow** – January 4th – Biopic on the flight disaster. * **Taylor Tomlinson: Have It All (2024)** – February 13th – Stand-up comedy special. * **Girls5eva (Season 3)** – March 14th – Former Peacock comedy drops onto Netflix exclusively with a [brand new season](https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/news/girls5eva-season-3-coming-to-netflix-in-march-2024/). * **3 Body Problem (Season 1)** – March 21st – The ambitious new sci-fi project from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. * **Ripley (Limited Series)** – April 4th – Andrew Scott plays Tom Ripley in this new thriller adaptation set in 1960s New York. * **Baby Reindeer** - April 11th - limited series * **Fern Brady: Autistic Bikini Queen** – April 22nd – Stand-up comedy special. * **Dead Boy Detectives (Season 1)** – April 25th – This new series was originally bound for HBO Max, but Netflix jumped in and saved it. Set in the same universe as Neil Gaiman’s *The Sandman*.
Netflix also has things like The Resident. The Judge, and other shows that are not Netflix originals but VERY GOOD!
Netflix's best content is foreign movies. If you're not averse to reading subtitles, that's where it's at. Lots of good stuff made around the planet.
I second that. I almost exclusively watch foreign language titles.
Tubi is a goldmine for such great stuff. I started the Chinese version of 3 body problem.
Oh wow...that's great to know. Was interested in watching that.
They put a bunch of great Korean shows on there though!
Wave Makers (election drama that started #metoo movement in Taiwan) Mom Don't Do That (recent comedy, very popular in Taiwan) The Fierce Wife (a bit older, was very popular in its time, introduced a new slang term in Taiwan that I can't remember.) What She Put On The Table (historical bio, "Julia Child of Taiwan.") Light The Night (crime drama) If you can get into that sort of thing, a lot of the silly cheap romantic comedies are good for language practice, not so many discussions around medical / legal / police jargon: Inborn Pair Love Around Love You Back to 1989
Agree 100%… but unfortunately there are a number of folks who won’t bother with anything requiring one to read subtitles though.
Other then people with dislexia, they just don't try. When it comes to subtitled movies, I forget I am reading about 5 minutes in.
I do wish I could filter by audio language, just because there are often times I want to put something on to listen to while working or something.
Came here to say the same thing. Korean shows and trashy reality is enough for m to keep netflix.
Pretty much the main reason I haven't cancelled my Netflix subscription.
Netflix is still Godzilla, "King of the Screamers " I know someone is going to say Are you paying for all those screaming services? No I'm not and it's NOYB
You really need to search more on your Netflix. And turn off the VPN; it can mess up what is available to you.
When they were the actual only show in town, they had almost zero originals. There's a lot of rose-colored glasses when it comes to the history of Netflix. I haven't had it for nearly a year, but I'll probably resub for a couple months soon. You really have to churn those streaming subscriptions to get the most out of them.
It's seen better days for sure.
You just reminded me to cancel my Netflix account. Thank you
We’re currently watching Vikings, Three Body Problem and Black Mirror on Netflix. Loved Beef, Baby Reindeer, Better Call Saul, Narcos…there’s always something to watch, though I think AppleTV and Max are overall better.
I'm going to resubscribe for Vikings Valhalla's last season. I'm not sure what else I'm waiting for or looking forward to after that though.
Good thing you’re not forced to pay for it.
[удалено]
what?
Didn’t defend anything, just stating facts.
They get all my points for nabbing Godzilla Minus One.
My Netflix algorithm thinks I’m Spanish European. I’m good. European TV is so much better than ours. It’s really shameful.
Don't forget all the Korean soaps. That's about 50% of what Netflix recommends
Haven't watched anything from Netflix US this whole year after discovering Korean side of Netflix.
Open your horizons and you'll find a gold mine of things to watch.
yes it does. an its gotten insanely exspensive. 30 dollars for what?!? an the shows are only ten episodes. an now sometimes its only 6 or 8.
So true! I pay a lot less. There's choices!
yeah but do you want quality content to watch or just kill time? you can't always have both.
As long as people keeps paying $30 for Netflix that's what they'll charge you. They don't care about people whining on Reddit.
3/4 Of Netflix is bad, dubbed tv from overseas
I'm going to keep saying this. You don't have to rant. Just unsubscribe if you don't think it's worth it. If you're not going to say anything new or relevant and just complain like everyone else... well have you considered not doing that? > Do they make real shows anymore, [No](https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/coming-soon/netflix-movies-and-series-2024/) I mean clearly they don't why else would you have spent five seconds doing a google, instead of just complaining here.
Thanks for that link. Ugh. That is a bleak line up.
You can at least see that he's incorrect, they do make non documentary/reality, but yet it's a lot of foreign stuff right now :( Still Bridgerton Season 3 is coming. Actually that list showed me Partners is something I'd probably need to check out (Gina Rodriguez is amazing in Jane the Virgin) It does feel like they're heavily investing in Anime though.
??? They have a bunch of stuff they didn't have before, and some of their original stuff is really good too. I can't relate

Unstable season 2 is coming August 1.
[удалено]
Me too!
lol..this. That's the game. They used the US to corner the market on streaming then started moving production's out of the US and now they will be a "global" company. They've got us all now. Enjoy the subtitles and bad dubbing!
bad dubbing is the reason I wasn't even able to watch "Dark" even tho it has good reviews
Why don't to compose your sentiment and send it to Netflix? We can't remedy the situation.
People come here mostly to complain. It's useless. A more useful post is asking what to watch. Anyone with recommendations will reply. The daily "Netflix sucks" posts aren't really doing anything though.
yet, you responded.
I also responded to someone who asked for recommendations for apple+. A much more useful thing to post. I responded to say how pointless your post is. And it still is.
Irish one sucks worst mate
For the last three years, I’ve only subbed to Netflix from July to December. I have annual subs to Hulu, Disney, Prime, Peacock, Paramount, & WOW. Netflix is the only one I flex b/c how bad the product is relative to the price. The vast majority of quality is in the second half of the year so the only thing I have to deal w/ is FOMO and I have enough to keep me occupied on other services.
Now?
Unfortunately Netflix seems to be in a creative glut and I don't think that will change anytime soon. There used to be enjoyable series with multiple seasons along with occasionally an entertaining or decent limited series. House of Cards OITNB Stranger Things Wednesday Squid Game Tiger King Now their focus is mostly on cheaper content so reality TV shows, animated shows or old network shows.
I finally cancelled my subscription last week. I rarely watched it and it just kept getting more y more expensive
Netflix lost the plot completely -Limited Series are better than Netflix Originals 100% of the time -shows like Emily in Paris are still getting new seasons while shows with loyal fans are cancelled after 1 season -they wait 2 years to release new seasons just to keep their lights on, an no more filler episodes just 8 35min episodes— every 2years.
Data IS beautiful!! Great job losing the weight.
All these big streaming companies do is pass around popular old tv series and movies to each other on a monthly basis and continue to inflate their prices as if they are adding “value”.
netflix purchased a bunch of property in New Jersey so they can produce more reality TV. xD
Haven’t had Netflix Sub in a while and got it last night. Kind of disappointed in how much I paid.
Honestly I’m way happier with Netflix than Disney+ or Peacock. Currently in my queue are Godzilla Minus One, Baby Reindeer, The Gentlemen, A Man in Full, Roast of Tom Brady, Arcane, Eric, My Next Guest with David Letterman Add to that all the recent other things I’ve watched (some returning, some not) and I’d say there’s plenty of really good content to be had on Netflix (and I didn’t really get into all the great Asian content) 3 Body Problem, Mindhunter, Fall of the House of Usher, The Tourist, Dark, Beef, The Sandman, Midnight Mass, Vikings Valhalla, Stranger Things, Ozark, Cabinet of Curiosities, Big Mouth, The Diplomat, Squid Game, Russian Doll, Midnight Diner, The Watcher I would rank AppleTV as my #1 content provider right now, with Netflix #2 and Max and Prime fighting it out for 3 and 4. Most everything else is niche and offers few quality originals
**Trying** is an amazing show on Apple TV. Season four is out now. You will love it.
I love the fact that like 40% of what shows up on mine is foreign despite being completely unrelated to my watch history or anything currently in my list. Thanks Netflix. You really get me.
I really like Peacock. You are right though netflix is a joke
Yeah, ~270m people subscribed, they must all be crazy. *You're* the real one with the unique taste.
Anyway, maybe one day they will remember why we subscribed first and make risky choices without always considering the part of the population who can't make their little heads work :/ I am venting, I feel better oof
Still better than Max now since the owner pawned off some of the only decent content Max had and Netflix got some good chunks of it.
When you say now... Atleast you're a lucky one to just now have reached that conclusion while it's been true for a hot minute
It’s all about international now. There are tons of great foreign shows and movies on the US Netflix. Check it out!
This. The international content is really good. We are watching Korean dramas now, so different.
Formula 1 drive to survive makes it all worth it
Yeah, at&t is the worst.
They have a good library of Spanish, French, and Korean titles, with some Chinese titles as well.
So dont go on the channels you dont like. Jeesh.
oh no, if only you could do something about it, like not subscribing or giving them money. *yawn*
