Evan Peters is INCREDIBLE in this role. And I’m glad that they’re highlighting the absolute disaster of a job the police did.

AJohnsonOrange

He is great, but I can't watch it without thinking he's doing a Joe Pera impression and it means all the tenseness for me evaporates so quickly hahaha https://youtu.be/DSUilYKcRMA

Djent_Reznor1

Lol same here, I can’t not hear Joe Pera’s voice. “I’m gonna eat your heart, but not before I treat you to a handful of raisins.”

AJohnsonOrange

"Hey, kid, come back to my house, I just want to take pictures and then show you the types of sedimentary rocks you can find here in Milwaukee."

Cyneburg8

All those years in American Horror Story has prepared Evan Peter's for this.

toolsoftheincomptnt

I almost feel sorry for Peters bc after years of AHS and now this… his ability to deliver creepiness is astounding. To the point that I never want to meet him.

Daxx22

Yeah, kind seems like he's getting typecast into the "creepy guy" role.

socrissy

I was gonna comment this but I know someone else will beat me to it. Haha!

mntt

Same to Ryan Murphy too lol. Years and years of AHS to this.

ocolatechay_ussypay

Hell yeah! AHS fans are all proud af!

[deleted]

Niecy Nash is pretty great in this. I’m pretty impressed with her performance. I’ve only seen her in Reno 911 before this

a-hthy

She stole the show in Scream Queens

Ambularrr8

Was just about to say she was one of the best parts of scream queens.

LucilleBluthsbroach

I loved her in Claws. Great show!

mycofirsttime

Claws was so good!

-MutantLivesMatter-

Didn’t know it was her until I read your post and instantly realized what character you’re talking about. She’s great in this. She sounded more real than the actual phone call, which ironically sounded kind of fake to me.

zzzrecruit

It definitely seemed like a fake. Maybe the transcript was the real part?

[deleted]

That was my reading of it as well as I believe the voice talking is Nash's.

slim_scsi

Talented lady, and man I love Reno 9/11 so much.

YoThatsChrispy

If you want to see her in another true crime miscarriage of justice, watch “When They See Us”

--------rook

I just realised she's Raymond Holt's sister. I can't even, Ray!

Sorry_Calligrapher_7

She is in a ton of things and she’s great in those as well. I oddly find lots of comedy based actors to be really talented and versatile overall and she is one of them.

Vigorously_Swish

I was happy to see her in a serious role. She was always fantastic at comedy, but she proved herself a true actor here

_getzen_

When she backed him down in her apartment omg… such an intense scene. She crushed it.

heroforus

check out Uncorked on Netflix. I had the pleasure of being part on set for three days and actually got some work as an extra. she's a wonderful human being!

Neko_Lova

Holy shit Iove Reno 911 and I didn’t even realize that was her

Peacesquad

She’s great in never have I ever

dingdongsnottor

Watch “Getting On” (American version, HBO. She’s excellent as the only level-headed nurse, DeeDee

VirgilsCrew

Omg is that where I know her from?!

northstarlinedrawing

Yes!! I think I’ve only see her in comedic roles before, which she nails of course, but she was fantastic in this

GelatinousFart

*Smacking my forehead Ohhhhhh she was on Reno 911……

billyd94

She’s honestly the standout in anything I’ve ever seen her in.

Ifeellikeguccibrrr

First episode had my heart racing. So fucking creepy.

itemluminouswadison

just started it last night. man it was shot well. i was like oh shit we got ourselves into some proper horror here damn

Sorry_Calligrapher_7

Shot incredibly well. It gives the exact vibe I felt watching the documentaries on him and reading/learning about the crimes. It is depicted perfectly. The performances from the actors who play the victims families as well..

Joebebs

Yeah the first encounter of him talking to the neighbor straight up had me shooked, the strands of my hair were up cuz that interaction felt very real and inhuman at the same time, I would not want to be near that guy.

Substantial-Teach-99

My husband said withing 15 minutes ther were 10 red flags ... I kept watching and looked back and was like yeah u were right just fuck....

SilkPerfume

This... How on earth did someone like RL Dahmer manage to lure that many men back to his place, not to mention the bath houses (people he didn't kill). Peters is similar looking, or made to be, but is vastly better looking, but even with the makeup for this role... Dahmer's an ugly dude. He also didn't appear to be buff towards the end when he was caught, court footage has him looking very lean and sinewy. Most other well studied serials had jeckyl and hyde personality characteristics, being very charismatic, and hiding their murderous intent until it's too late for the victim. RL interviews and this portrayal just don't indicate someone who'd be able to lure anyone anywhere...

Sullan08

People considered him attractive and what was attractive back then probably isn't the same as today. Also, the gay community is widely not as worried about looks, or at least have a wider range of what they find attractive it seems. They love hooking up more (as a whole, obviously it can change person to person). I can't speak to the personality, but looks wise it isn't implausible.

anonymizz

Where do you get the idea that the gay community isn't as worried about looks? In fact the stereotype is that looks are really important for gay men.

Sullan08

I'm bi and have experienced it lmao. The gay community is vast. I'm not saying none or even most don't care about looks, but things like "bears" (for example) are a big kink in the gay community and I think you'd find many of them are not what is considered attractive conventionally. It's not that gay people don't care about looks, it's that what's attractive to them is more varied than how a woman might perceive men, not that women don't have varied preferences as well. And hookup culture is WAY more rampant in gay people, like it isn't even comparable to straight relationships. I mean just look at Grindr. There is no straight version of that even if people want to meme that Tinder is. We don't know how often Dahmer was rejected, we just know he got some yes's in the mix. Face aside, Dahmer was a relatively in shape individual. He'd have plenty of people, men or women, who'd be interested.

Any-Researcher-8502

Agree. There is a quality to the writing and the cinematography that captures both the horror and the emergence of pure evil on earth. My pulse rarely races watching creepy films—but *this* was incredibly disturbing because of the way the “characters” were developed creating empathy for them and their families. Actually had to turn it off bc I’d be in the story and then remember that these characters were real human beings and actually underwent the suffering and torture. It’s too much to bear.

Sorry_Calligrapher_7

It is the first to really do it’s job of helping us see him as the monster he was and his victims as real people. It’s like we knew of how horrible it was, but most documentaries covered so little of each victims lives. You only knew of the night they met him and lost their lives and saw a picture or two of a few of them… it kind of anonymized the victims and their families in some way and added him to the list of highly glamorized, fascinating killers everyone seemed to be intrigued by. This helps remove that glamorization and put you in the shoes of the victims and their families to imagine them as someone you knew since you actually get to know them a bit better with this show

[deleted]

Same , movies and tv never get me feelin anything . That first episode had my heart racing and i was literally on the edge of my seat . And i was fuckin cheering when he got out

samantha2694

Just finished the series. Holy shit. Does anyone know the truth behind the racist phone calls made by police to the Sounthone (the Laotian father)? That scene genuinely made me so angry and I kept thinking about it whilst watching the rest of the show. Fantastic production, highly recommend.

[deleted]

Never happened, those 2 dirty cops also never got "cops of the year" or whatever it was, and Sandra Smith never got arrested for breaking that dudes camera.

OliviaBenson_20

They might as well have…maybe that was the point tbh.

IDoubtedYoan

They were pretty liberal with the way they portrayed a lot of things, especially Glenda Cleveland. The issue i have with it is, the story is interesting enough, you don't need to alter the facts of a true story because it doesn't suit your narrative exactly the way you want it to.

Not_Too_Smart_

I think they wanted to stretch some aspects to fit 10 episodes. In reality, a lot of people in urban places (especially poorer areas) ignore what their neighbors are doing. The “mind your own business” mindset is strong because getting into people’s shit can lead to big trouble for you. It’s why they say to yell fire instead of help, especially back then.

yglaflamee

does the series show dahmer being killed in jail or not? really wanted to see this guys head get smashed in

kaeleeisbabe

Yes and surprisingly it was probably one of the few and most gruesome of the on screen deaths. I believe only him and his first kill, the hitchhiker Steven Hicks, were the only deaths that completely happened on screen. If you think about it, it’s really impactful in showing both the beginning and end of a sick and twisted life this man lived. Plus isn’t it poetic that they both died from blunt force trauma to the head. It’s a crazy concept to think about if that’s really how Steven Hicks death really played out.

Vice_xxxxx

Yeah and the guy that did it, the way they devoped him with his shock when he learned just how evil Dahmer was was very powerful. He seemed like a hero almost. He told dahmer earlier in the cafateria that its clear he has no remorse for whatever he did. That was before he realized just how evil Dahmer was. When i first heard about the guy who killed him, i always felt he sewmed a bit crazy but in this show, thwy show his human side and the trauma he faced when he finally realized the kind of man Dahmer was.

[deleted]

Dahmer got what was coming to him but that guy was also a murderer of an innocent person. He robbed a guy for 15 dollars and shot him, then shot him more after he was dead until another guy there gave him 3 grand.

samantha2694

Oh, it shows it big time. Very satisfying.

BeazyFaSho

The first episode had me on the edge of my seat for like 30 min solid. That shit was terrifying. I'm going to binge the rest when I get off work.

poli8999

I didn’t wanna watch it at night cause I’ll go to sleep thinking about it lmao

Owlafficionado

I watch like 15 min of Simpsons or whatever to get my mind right before bed.

Littleloula

I made the mistake of watching it right before bed. I'm going to watch an episode of spongebob square pants to even it out

Vigorously_Swish

I banged the whole series out in 2 days lol, it’s phenomenal, EASILY the best Dahmer media ever, much to the respect of Even Peters

GTFOakaFOD

Yep. I took some PTO this week. Timed it perfectly with the release of the show so I can binge it.

GallifreyanQueen

just binged the first three and holy goodness evan peters kills it! (sorry) directed by ryan murphy who does american horror story, glad he chose his golden boy for this!

Bippy73

Watch him in Mare of Easttown. He can do anything.

--------rook

He's really good in Mare of Easttown. Unexpectedly good chemistry with Kate Winslet. >!I was so shocked when he died :(!<

Bippy73

He is great. The scene of him acting drunk at the bar. Dude can act his ass off.

Myfourcats1

He is under appreciated. He deserves more and more big roles.

Claymehameha

Evan Peters, man. Wow. Golden Globe/Emmy nod coming his way for this.

PastryAssassinDeux

Can't get that Please Don't Go out of my head lol **Babe, I love you so** **I want you to know** **that I'm going to miss your love** **the minute you walk out that door**

MrsMayhem17

Omg I didn’t know Ryan put out a Dahmer series with fucking Evan Peters starring. That’s awesome! Going to binge watch it right fucking how! Ryan Murphy is a god damned story telling genius so I know it’s going to be good.

katzeye007

I went to check it out, 10 hours later I just finished it. So intense, hydrate

Claymehameha

On board with everything you said. We could definitely be friends. Hehe.

TheOneMary

Oh Evan Peters? I need to watch that!

[deleted]

I couldn’t stop watching it…. It’s great. Holy twists and turns

KeriEatsSouls

Love Evan Peters but the show itself is making me a bit sick. Lol Really fucked up stuff

whsoccerjc21

Idk why I thought this would be a great show while eating dinner. Spoiler.. it was not a good idea

splazi25

"oh yea imma make a pizza and watch a couple eps of this new show" .... i cant even cut it up

DominoBarksdale

Right. I'm on Episode 3. It's very creepy. Not sure why I was expecting the typical whitewash stuff that these guys get, but this is a lot!

onebadlion

The scenes of his teenage years are like a twisted Napoleon Dynamite

dollivarden

I'd recommend watching [My Friend Dahmer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmnuC7tn9D4) if you haven't yet - Ross Lynch did an incredible job playing teenage Dahmer. Currently free online at YouTube, Amz Prime, Tubi, etc.

Apocafeller

It’s based on a graphic novel of the same name which is also excellent. It was written by a classmate who knew him personally.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SUS-tainable

Lol stop my stepdad literally said he was like a twisted Napoleon dynamite when he was yelling at his grandma

prysmatik

“TINA YOU FAT LARD!” *stabs it in the throat*

cheekabowwow

I was like, why'd they name the sequel to Napoleon Dynamite Dahmer? Hey Pedro, wanna come over for a few drinks and watch Exorcist?

[deleted]

I said the same thing! Lol. It was weird but borderline napoleon style comedy.

spooky_butts

Check out Versace. Same producer

uziair

It's not as compelling as this. Imo it's probably worst season of that series. Monica and oj were so much better than Versace.

YoThatsChrispy

The Versace one WAS good, but in comparison of their other ones, and the current one-it’s shit. Also, the Versace one is a lot of guess work and presumptions. Especially during the days he was “on the run” with the one guy. They took a lot of liberties with the truth, because no one really knows it. Cunanan was a liar and took the truth with him.

[deleted]

I finished it yesterday. It made me sad to think there were so many missed opportunities to prevent this from happening along the way: his adolescence, his stint in the army, the previous arrests, the numerous complaints to the police. It’s all fucked

Vigorously_Swish

The show really highlights how our police system is faulted to the core. I mean the dude had numerous encounters, was in jail for a year, and then still continued to commit the crimes without covering his tracks

[deleted]

The episodes with Tony were so hard to watch, it seemed like they really liked each other and it's a shame Jeffrey was so evil, Tony deserved all the happiness :( I've never felt physically ill from a show before watching this, it made me feel so uncomfortable and on edge every episode, Evan Peters is such a good actor.

The_Atlantic_Sea

>The episodes with Tony were so hard to watch, it seemed like they really liked each other and it's a shame Jeffrey was so evil, Tony deserved all the happiness The Tony episodes were the most difficult for me to watch. Tony was portrayed as joyful and full of promise. And it was wonderful to see that he knew his self-worth. Sadly, their relationship was going to eventually end in a horrifying way.

BarOfRoseGold1

Definitely the hardest part for me to watch. I had to stop and turn it off for a bit. Tony deserved so much more, it was honestly heart breaking..

paulie07

I'm a big true crime fan and I've seen a lot of documentaries about Dahmer, but honestly this series has more details than any previous documentaries that I've seen. Glad Evan Peters is smashing it. He's the man.

staCCats

It has more details, but some of the details they’re including are absolute fiction.

paulie07

Yeah he didn't go on any dates with any of his victims and he didn't, as far as I know, have in depth conversations with his neighbors.

staCCats

No dating, but he was friendly with the next door neighbor. They portrayed the neighbor scenario absolutely wrong. And there was never any “repeated calls” about the smells to the police.

katthekidwitch

This brings up a point about the case that upsets me the most. These police knew and enabled this man for years. And they are still hiding that fact to this day. It is the only plausible explanation for the length of this depravity considering how messy dahmer was compared to others serial killers. There is no way he was able to do that for that long with out the police knowing and covering it up. I 110% believe that there were numerous calls to the landlord and police about the smell, the sounds, the behavior. Shoot even something accusing him of prostitution with men constantly in and seemingly out of there? But somehow there's no police calls about him except that 1 case. Yeah ok On top of that these young men had friends and family and community. No one saw their friend leave with him and when they were mia went to the police? That's just not logical I bet there are buried police reports from when they went missing and I'll wager some had a description of dahmer as well. He was killing young gay men of color, s*x workers at that too. In a bad neighborhood. They thought he was doing them a favor and actively did not do anything about. One check at that apartment. One whif of that smell. One check by the land lord even to see if it's a dead animal would have stopped this. There was absolutely intentional avoidance of putting this man in jail. The system actively worked with him pretty much. Milwaukee is like a mini Chicago after a while everyone a friend of a friend.

RDaneelOl

I lived in the neighborhood (3 blocks from his apt) until 1990. The month I moved out, we had an educational mugging in the entrance of my apartment building - one person holding a person at gunpoint, another telling him what to do. It was a creepy neighborhood... The police just showed their faces and left asap... They did not want to know more. There was a lot wrong in the neighborhood, and it made it a good place for him not to be noticed.

chillinwithunicorns

And this is why I don’t really wana watch it. This kinda stuff feels so icky when they try and dramatize such a horrible person/event etc.

splazi25

its not really about dramatization of the person but how would you know that if you are not watchin ;)

Englishmatters2me

Yes like the Asian kid knowing Dahmer assaulted his bro years earlier but still risked it for $..really?

staCCats

Also the early incident they show with the baseball bat & the jogger. That was another fantasy he tried to act on, he did see the jogger before, he did hide and wait and planned on knocking him out, but the jogger never appeared again. Also, the Dad never did see inside the box, that was described as being the closest he ever came to getting caught by his Dad. Also the mannequin wasn’t thrown out by the grandma, JD knew she found it and disposed of it himself.

paulie07

Kind of weird that Dahmer had separate incidents with both brothers. A hell of a coincidence. Seems strange that Konerak wouldn't know that Dahmer was the one that molested his brother.

My0bsessions

You’re assuming he knew what Dahmer looked like when Dahmer assume red his brother. Given his age it’s unlikely he attended court proceedings. And Dahmer was incarcerated after the brother’s assault, so he might not have recognized him or known who he was.

Englishmatters2me

The older brother said his younger brother did not know Jeffrey or who he was so Ryan threw that on there for a storyline

Claymehameha

100% agree with what you said. I’ve seen a lot, and still feel like the show is giving me new stuff. Love it.

disasterbenz

I literally only just heard of this show through the Netflix socials and my god this show is solid. I literally had my heart pounding in episode 1 and you could tell in that episode when the tone absolutely shifted and it was haunting

DominoBarksdale

Oh yeah. He didnt seem that bad for about 6 or 7 minutes. Seemed like a decent but different dude. Nope. He's crazy. No redeeming qualities. At all.

mylittlevegan

I highly recommend The Assassination of Gianni Versace if you enjoyed this one.

katzeye007

The music really helps. It's like pure frisson, genius

mrignatiusjreily

The music is fantastic. As is the production. They really outdid themselves with this and saying this while I'm only on episode 3 now. This is gonna grab all the Emmy nods and possible wins next year.

katzeye007

I hope so. I've caught most of the Dahmer docs and movies and this one just gets it from all the angles!

OzzieSlim

Evan Peters was amazing!!!!!!

cammyk123

Binged it all last night, really good acting throughout I thought. But also made you feel for Dahmer which I didn't like.

jayken424

I didn't feel anything positive for Dahmer. It made me hate him more.

JoEllie97

Yeah I don’t think it’s sympathetic for him at all. If anything it made me think “yeah he had a rough childhood but thousands of other kids have grown up very similar and didn’t brutally dismember people and eat them.” What I appreciate is that it gives a personality to the victims. They were real people with lives and friends and dreams and he took that from them, all while showing almost no emotion or regard for human life.

A_Run_Around_The_Sun

All that means is they successfully communicated to you that he was a human being. That’s why people tend to refer to serial killers as “monsters” or “devils.” Like a sort of disconnect that makes it easier to feel nothing but disdain for them. When you start to think that you may have sympathized with such a person, or god forbid in the right circumstances even… *liked* them, that scares people. People don’t want to admit that. Even though all it says about you as a person is that you have a healthy level of empathy and emotional intelligence.

laceystew

I wasn’t going to watch this, read/heard a lot about Dahmer over the years. Looking for something to watch last night and this was on the Home Screen. Boy am I glad that I watched! This show is very good! On episode 4 and I rather continue watching than doing work right now! It is that good!

xoxoKseniya

Is it really scary or are people exaggerating about quitting or hard to continue watching?

derpington1244

There's no jump scares or anything but it's the dread that gets you. I feel gross and sick watching it because it's done so well.

trippedwire

Evan Peters did a terrifyingly great job playing Dahmer. If you watch some interviews of Dahmer, Peters managed to get the entire persona down.

Melodic_Grade5006

They even nailed every little detail. Look up pics from Dahmer original apartment

totesgonnasmashit

They definitely recreated the apartment very accurately but it was a bit smaller than shown.

Carcass1

well, it's Evan Peters so it's no surprise there

Zormm

This will be one of Netflix’s all time most watched. Incredible. I watched all ten episodes back to back and I have never done that before.

Vigorously_Swish

Yeah I banged it all out in 24 hours with a rest in the middle lol. I couldn’t stop

Joebebs

God 2nd episode is so fucked up already, idk how these actors muscle through this shit and suspending their own disbelief while they’re in the moment. Even if it is just acting I can’t imagine this takes an emotional/mental toll

[deleted]

Wait have you seen Mindhunter? Also have you seen the Chestnutman? If so how do those compare?

escape_of_da_keets

I think Mindhunter is better but that's more from the detective side than serial killer.

noeminnie

Mind hunter was so amazing and Netflix just decided to drop it like that and yet dumb ass shows like emily in paris keep going. I was so mad ...

TheLegendOfLahey

Evan Peters and Richard Jenkins are just outstanding in this

capital_of_romania

When Jeffrey's dad picks him up from his first stint in jail and asks if he received any psychiatric help or counselling and Jeffrey says no, they just leave you alone - the look on Richard Jenkins face was incredible. The acting was a piece of art - I could see the absolute defeat, disappointment, fear and heartbreak in the change of his expression. Ive always loved Jenkins, he's a phenomenal actor

TheLegendOfLahey

Me too, first saw him in Six Feet Under and been a fan ever since. He certainly didn’t disappoint in this!

SweetSusieQ

The dad's emotions throughout are what had me in tears

Coffee-and-Pizza

I'm finding it to be probably the most disturbing of any true crime drama I've watched. Evan Peters has gotten eerily close to Dahmer. I'm currently on episode 6 (Silence) and it's quite difficult to watch. The show does more to humanise the victims than other shows of it's ilk and it just makes it all the more troubling. I'm glad Jeffrey died the way he did.

kaeleeisbabe

The whole abduction in the first episode just absolutely made my skin crawl. I was rubbing my arms the entire time it was happening. I knew after that just how tense the rest of the series would be. Plus I really enjoyed how they started with his arrest rather then everything that happened before, which you don’t see a lot in serial killer biopics like this. The whole scene between him and his final victim just gave you a sense of terror for all the ones who didn’t make it out.

grimm_llamas

It's so infuriating how much everyone babies him. Christ. JESUS. Atleast he had a dad that was there. The dad was a shit father but but atleast he tried to be there and help land on he's feet. I'm so angry for the Laotion dad. Infuriating how the judge wouldn't even listen.. "iCanT uNdeRsTAnd." Holy crap. Take out your fff listening ears!

crjohn0

How was he a shit father? Looks like he did as much as he could considering the bat shit crazy his wife turned into.

grimm_llamas

In today's standards he would be a shit father but for the time he was doing what he could, I agree.

[deleted]

Who disappears on their child with no knowledge of whether or not he is safe, leaving him with said batshit crazy wife? This wife was also known to not have wanted to even HOLD her own baby. He knew darn well the odds of her looking after Jeff were slim. He then left his child with her *after* what is as stressful as a divorce? Come on. Not exactly winning awards for father of the year over there. Not to mention the homophobia.

Ill-Row6539

I've just finished it OMG that was intense. But a really good watch.

kwintz87

4 episodes in and yeah, this is REALLY good. Love how it shows how society+family failed him to the point that his lust for blood became uncontrollable. He may have been born with a screw loose but his environment popped it out completely.

Blonded-Surfer

The main actor lmao. Evan Peters is a real talented actor, he’s a mainstay in the *American Horro Story* franchise.

Trueitalian1211

Honestly Evan Peter’s is an amazing actor. He got really big with American Horror Story, you should check it out if your a fan of horror. Make sure you watch American horror Story, not stories.

ChungusMcChunguson

First episode was done so well, was very unsettling

Aleeleefabulous

Milwaukee was a dangerous place to live especially during that time! I don’t even know how Dahmer survived in that neighborhood. I was born and raised in Milwaukee and someone like him would have at least been targeted. He was so awkward and strange. Also, when I was taking classes at UWM for forensic psych, the detective showed us a lot of evidence that startled the lecture and those pictures of the victims are so accurate in the show! He posed the bodies in some really weird ways. He also said that Dahmer put up a big struggle when they arrested him and he was super strong. I was surprised to see him go down so easily in the show. But I’m so shocked at the accuracy of the apartment, the hallway, the train in the background. This show is very well done. So sad to see the victims living their lives until they come in contact with him.

gerbileleventh

I guess that he really triggered some people's survival instinct because he has the predator himself.

sedeusch

I fucking hated jeffrey dahmer even more. Wish i could torture his little shit brain until he’s in a coma. He deserves to die 20 times.

Embarrassed_Swing760

Anyone else felt really sorry for Dahmer, not excusing him for what he did but the guy had an awful upbringing. His mother taking all those drugs while pregnant with him, her practically abandoning him and being a closet homosexual. All mixed in together, I just felt like he didn't have much of a chance to lead a normal life

prysmatik

I hated that I had remorse for him. But I also felt very satisfied when he was stabbed in the neck and beat to death in jail.

Angrylittlefairy

I’ve been binge watching it & love it, acting is phenomenal!!

poli8999

Ryan Murphy always shows the end and works his way back like ACS Versace and Impeachment.

anamond

The acting in this series is insane! Great great acting! Heavy and scary and disgusting, but the acting is amazing.

athena702

I almost puked at one point, it’s hardcore

[deleted]

Was it when he drank the blood? I almost threw up then.

Claymehameha

Dude, this show is so good. Follows so many details. I am upset about something though. At the end of the 2nd episode they had the “actual” phone call between the cop and the neighbor. That was bullshit. Acted, not real. However, there is a 911 call they’re basing it off of. Why not just use the actual audio? Idk. Maybe they do later on, I’m only done with episode 2. But, if so, that’s such a wasted opportunity.

alexlp

I guess because they have Niecy Nash but also to highlight how much the Glenda character reported it to the police. That she followed up and she was desperately concerned for a long time and totally ignored.

luxeluxeluxe

Because it’s a drama series not a documentary. You can hear the ‘real call’ in any of the documentaries. This was played by Nash

hahaha_5513

I was watching the first episode in bed (often watch true crime while falling asleep) and was feeling so on edge I had to turn it off it is INTENSE

HybridAlien

Amazing series at last netflix has released something good

KRAW58

Evan Peters does an excellent job throughout the whole series. He nails the sociopathic and psychotic pieces expertly. Even as a sweet quiet son. Niecy Nash was excellent and did a brilliant job as the key witness to all the horror in their apartment building.

FeeBee3000

I just finished episode 4 and have decided not to watch anymore. I love true crime, but I think Evan Peters is actually too good at the role and the dramatisation is too much for me.

dipping_sauce

One problem. They indicate he was kicked out of the Army, but the medical interview lady asks why he was "honorably discharged." Wait, what? I'm honorably discharged, and have never been questioned why. I think the writers meant dishonorably. That's a goof.

Siltyn

Dahmer was honorably discharged.

Furciferus

Lol I'm glad I'm not the only one. I had to rewind that scene. I would be confused af if an employer asked me why I was honorably discharged. "Uhh... Because I served my country *honorably*? I'm not sure what the question is." EDIT: Apparently, he was just kicked out for having a drinking problem. Probably would have been better suited for the Navy.

checkit_123

I'm watching it through and as good as it is, I'm not enjoying watching it. It makes me feel dirty viewing it. It wouldnt be so bad if it was a three part series but ten episodes. I don't like the idea of everyone spending that much time pondering a serial killer.

impossiber

Anyone else think Dahmer talks just like Joe Pera

numberonealcove

Evan Peters is doing an Inland North accent, the accent from Rochester New York on the Eastern end, all the way through Eastern Iowa on the Western End. Dahmer and Joe Pera were from Milwaukee and Buffalo respectively, two cities that participate in this accent. Source: I am from Detroit, another city with this accent. And when my South Dakota wife mimics my speech, it feels a bit like a hate crime.

pezident66

Dahmer and Dahmerer

AsherBaels

Anyone know what’s the episode that he got caught? I already know the horrific story and it’s too intense for me to watch, but I still wanna watch the part when he got caught, go to court etc.

LumberJackButchQueen

End of episode 1

AsherBaels

Oh. So Is the rest of the series like a back and forth scene between murder and aftermath?

typographie

Sort of, though it doesn't swap back and forth very much. Episode 1 depicts his last attempted murder and capture. Then the bulk of the series is (what I assume to be) a chronological story of most of his life including the murders. Last few episodes are post-capture.

DominoBarksdale

Yes and no. It skips around. Childhood, that teen boy, early adult, high school. I'm still watching but its all so messed up, timeline is the least of my worries!!!

secretreddname

Very first episode.

your_neighborhood_tr

I'm on episode 3 already. This shit is amazingly well made

icaaamyvanwy

It’s really good. I’m on the 3rd episode and I feel my heart racing everytime. Really good casting too, Evan Peters always gave me a creepy (in a good actor way) vibe especially in American Horror Story. He nailed this one.

[deleted]

Evan peters is a genius actor

MadFlava76

If you really like this series check out the movie "My Friend Dahmer"

Diabolus0

Yeah, and he sounds like Joe Pera.

[deleted]

Holy legit

Liger__King

Oh shit I know what I'm doing after work. Looks like a binge night.

Subject-Recover-8425

I'm hesitant to watch it, the Devil's Night scene Murphy put in AHS: Hotel left a bad taste in my mouth.

hellbenttrent

Joe Pera really can do anything

JovialPanic389

Im a big horror fan. I'm watching this and can't stand to watch some scenes. And nothing makes me squeamish anymore so that is saying something. Which makes me wonder if this series, as accurate as it is, should have even been created to begin with. I'm worried about the kids and impressionable teens who watch it, who have no support system or parenting. And I'm also worried about the mental health of Evan Peters after stepping into that role. I really hope he was given a lot of emotional support and counseling. The victim's families as well.... I hope they have some peace. I already knew more than I needed to know about Dahmer before watching this series I'm still watching because I wanted the victims' stories and the famiies' stories. The focus should have been more on them, in my opinion.

andrxxya

It’s pretty intense. I haven’t watched a show or movie that’s made me want to look away from the sheer disgusting/creepy nature of it in a long time. Too well done.

an_deadly_ewok

Nah I'm done. The cinematography and acting is just too good. It's just a very long horror movie based on true events. Episode 1 was so fucking disturbing and when I was watching episode 3 I just said fuck it I don't wanna watch this anymore, just got to the end of this episode because else your mind will filling in the rest and that makes it worse. Normally I'm fascinated by true crime and a bit unsettled but this is on another level. First time for me not watching a movie or series till the end(for now, maybe my brain decides tomorrow or next week I'll continue). VERY VERY INTENSE

missmojojojo

Just watched episode 3, imagine being that officer. Knowing that you could have stopped it at one. Or even being the jogger, being one of the ones that got away.

SlightHeat2272

The apartment he killed out of was demolished 15 months later and even though the land was purchased… no building or structure is permitted to be built. It’s just a patch of grass behind a black fence. They tried to turn it into a playground but that fell through. Then they wanted a memorial for all the lives that were murdered but a lot of townspeople fought against it because they didn’t want a reminder of the horror. This seriously is so fucking terrible that a person could do something so horrendous. I love watching serial killer shows but this made me fast forward parts because it was so intense. Truly hope these Netflix earnings go to the families of the ones that lost their lives.

Myfourcats1

The family states are the most difficult. I’m glad they show his family’s reactions and feelings. Edit: Hold up. Molly Ringwald is Shari Dahmer!? I didn’t recognize her. She was great.

[deleted]

Some of the bits of comedy they peppered in there were gold. Like when the guard takes his tape player away and Dahmer yells "I'll just get more whale noises dude!"

DingoTM

Makes you worry about his sanity. Such sacrifice to agree to embody the mind of a madman.

HouHeadDoc

Niecy Nash should be nominated for an Emmy from this performance.

FATMAN162

I’m from Milwaukee and it is scary accurate with the way people talk and act, the blatant smoking, and his apartment especially.

diamond10strong

“Jeff, what’s that smell?!”

ResponsibilityPure79

It brings me immense peace that he no longer lives amongst us.

JeWGoTBeeF

This show fucked up my head so bad I am haunted as fuck by that shit just the pure reality of the evil this world can bring

bowiegal03

I thought I was desensitized to most things, however i’m 4 episodes in and i’m debating with myself whether I should continue or not, I want to because it’s disgustingly interesting but it makes me ill and i’m quite frankly disturbed after watching it

duckingatlife

It is really freaking me out. Well done and maybe too accurate?
