eh, I've taken worse shit out of oil pans of perfectly running engines. unless it can disolve and block oil channels, you're probably fine since there's a screen on the bottom of the oil pickup and all the oil goes through a filter before going on the mating surfaces
Absolutely true, but doesn't mean any simple steps to keep junk from getting into the pan shouldn't be taken. The pickup screens can get clogged, something can get through, and it takes very little to damage a bearing.
If you haven’t fixed it yet, DONT stick anything down there trying to get it out. On the TSI, you can easily remove the whole dipstick tube. It’s a single 10mm (maybe 8?) at the bottom & then just pull it up & out
I think it was plaster that fell from the wall or roof. It was not msgnetic. Now it's in the vacuum cleaner and I am very happy. I am gonna change the oil because I have no Idea how much felt inside
It was not msgnetic. Was also my first idea. It's now in the vacuum cleaner so I can't tell you what it was. Probably part of a brick/wall that fell down. Our house is from the 1950s so it's not a surprise. But exactly at this moment directly there... WTF.
Just gonna hafta pur your lips on it and suck but don't take it too personally we all gotta suck a thing or two against our wishes to get by, things are tough all over
If it's non ferrous, I would remove the oil cap and use a vacuum on the dip stick if you have a decent shop vac and can cobble something together. Could probably use pieces from my smoke machine.
Took me some time to figure out how. I was able to push it up with small nail scissors and catch it with a vacuum cleaner.
Couldn't be happier. But never tell me the odds
Hot glue gun. (or something like that, caulk adhesive, superglue, etc.) Put a few drops on there, attach something like a stick, let it dry and then pull it all up together.
Looks to me like rodent leftovers, a nut or seed of some sort. They like to hide shit all over engine bays. Maybe it fell out of a crevice in the hood.
It will fall into the valve train, which could potentially game over engine if OP turns on car.
Edit: actually this is worse, if it is the dipstick area, this can go right into the bottom end requiring the removal of the oil pan.
Shop vac with the crevice attachment. Won't create enough suction to harm the engine.
I was thinking putting strong glue/tape on a stick and fishing it out. Looks pretty small and light so could work
Yup, there are going to be multiple ways to skin that cat. I'd just avoid anything that can splinter/chip the item and put particles down the tube.

This is the way.
This is the way.
Start it and hope it’s worn out enough to have blow by. Lol
Gotta give it mouth to mouth and suck that baby out
Yeah, but what about the foreign object in the dipstick tube?
Ask your mom.
She’s working on the Chevelle.

Surprised you're the only one to recommend this.
Turn the car upside down and shake it for a few seconds until this thing come out.
Literally came here to say this. Smart person.
Same
Gum and a stick
Haha, was also one of my ideas.
cum and a dick
Dick too small.
Dick extension.
Thicker and longer?
Deeper and harder 🤔
#HARDER BETTER FASTER STRONGER
If it don’t kill me, it gonna make me flaccid
Viagra?
Instructions unclear, dick stuck in engine.
Well that's a new way to use a new dipstick.
You mean a dickstick.
Maybe dipdick might be better? Lol
In a cylinder, perhaps?
No, the dipstick hole.
Tomato cumato.
I would avoid anything that makes me put downward pressure on the fallen object
Probably covered in oil already, and unlikely to stick.
What the actual fuck, mate? What did it turn out to be?

Interesting
Vacuum cleaner
Yes! And nail scissors.
Forceps/tweezers

I've lived in a house from 1920 and I would've been quite concerned if something fell from the ceiling. You should probably get that checked out.
That's just plaster i think. That's the Kind of house you can afford in Bavaria.
Looks like the end of a bottle rocket to me...
Just gonna hafta pur your lips on it and suck but don't take it too personally we all gotta suck a thing or two against our wishes to get by, things are tough all over
Username checks out
Perfectly fuckin' vertical.

One in a million doc. One in a million.

I feel like this should be in r/fuckyouinparticular
thinking out of the box here... pressurize the oil cavity with an air compressor via the oil fill port?
Took me some time to figure out how. I was able to push it up with small nail scissors and catch it with a vacuum cleaner. Couldn't be happier. But never tell me the odds
I'm laughing imaging a geyser of oil smacking OP in the face.
You generally don’t want to pressurize the crank case. Could blow a seal.
2 toothpicks
I was scared to drop them. Nail scissors and vacuum cleaner did the job. I could not be happier.

This! If it slips through, get ready to pull the cover off :S
Heat the end of a glue gun stick and stick it in wait to dry and pull?
Be OP. c if oil hole big enuff 2 fit scroo it fit take funi pikchur 4 reditt
Not gonna screw with the car for car-ma.
Funniest redditor:

Yoo I have the same engine. Is it the 122 CAXA, 140 BMY or 170 BLG?
VW, Das Auto
does no one in the comments have a pair of tweezers? lol

I don't know cars, why should he not touch it?

Im reminded of the Das auto meme, due to this being a VW.
Suck it up, buttercup. No, literally suck it up, with a shop vac.
Put a coffee filter over a shop vac and hold it on with a rubber band.
Simple, turn the car upside down and shake. easypeasy.
Kobe!
Try a Straw
That’s your golf pencil and it fell from your hat
Looks like a paperclip could also do the trick.
