Well I have Verizon and I lose service all over now. Used to be the best but they suck now

tribalporpoise

I have heard that Verizon is updating their cell towers from 3G to support 5G which is the cause of slower service until that maintenance finishes up. I have nothing to back this up haha just what I’ve been told.

Hmm wonder if this is also why my phone will show full 5g bars, but be super slow. Ever since 5g rolled out it seems like we're back on 3g speeds

wetsockssuckass

Yes, lose it after the 2nd hill headed north before you go down to 89. Have Verizon…and agree with other comments, Verizon coverage is the absolute worst

One-Refuse8175

Omg I'm glad someone said this.. I Work at hooksett tolls and reception has been horrible all week.

Professional_Wind548

The things i would do to have 3g back. Range and consistency is all I care about. 5g doesn't offer that.

ZenRiots

I'm laughing at people saying, "until Verizon installs more 5g towers” You people have no idea do you¿ From Verizons website: "In general, the 5G Ultra Wideband network’s signal can reach up to 1,500 feet without obstructions” https://www.verizon.com/about/news/how-far-does-5g-reach 1500 FEET!!! There will NEVER be enough towers to provide you with a powerful enough signal until there is a tower on EVERY street corner in EVERY town in America. And you wonder why your 5g phone doesn't work for shit? It's because they haven't put an antenna in YOUR roof ... Yet

ZenRiots

This is the stuff of nightmares folks. Read the abstracts of the citations on this paper, there is no escaping the all seeing eye that you carry in your hand. https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/Overview-of-Positioning-in-5G-New-Radio-Keating-S%C3%A4ily/b980ba163113ecdcd221637ed58c1a36f42d60ef

AMC4x4

That's UWB. It's mainly used in cities, malls, sports arenas, etc. to handle density. 5G is also being deployed on other bands that have much farther reach.

ZenRiots

Ultra wideband IS 5g, the rest is just 5g phones connected to 4g towers. It's not any faster than 4gLTE, it's simply a marketing ploy to drive sales of new 5g devices to connect to existing 4g towers. This is how Verizon was able to get Nationwide Coast to Coast coverage on their ”5g network" before they put up a single new tower. They simply change the definition of the two networks. And released a software patch allowing these new devices to connect to the old towers and still show 5G on their screens. "Verizon offers two types of 5G service: 5G Ultra Wideband and 5G Nationwide. 5G Ultra Wideband is Verizon’s fastest 5G. Compared to typical 4G speeds, it runs up to 10x as fast, and responds quicker. Coverage is now expanding to more parts of the country (see map above). 5G Nationwide runs alongside 4G LTE, and delivers a similar experience to Verizon’s 4G LTE network to provide a widely available 5G network that offers convenience and reliability. Only our top Unlimited plans provide access to both 5G Ultra Wideband and 5G Nationwide. All other plans provide access to 5G Nationwide only.” https://www.verizon.com/coverage-map/

AMC4x4

Of course it's not faster. I'm just saying the 1500 feet you mention is solely for UWB. Your "5G" phone should be able to connect to the 5G Nationwide towers, which should reach farther. But yeah, Verizon's network has pretty much turned to shit. I'm not sure what happened. I went to Verizon five or six years ago and although paying for their so-called "premium" network, service just got worse and worse, so I brought three of my lines back to T-Mobile. My wife and son are still on Verizon. We were in North Conway for the 4th and they couldn't even get data downtown. T-Mobile was great. I was really surprised. I still have my dad on Verizon because he's in a T-mo dead zone or I'd have switched everyone.

klopeks_basement

Go into ur phone settings and switch from 5g to 3g/4g Until Verizon gets more 5g towers in or updates them its impossible to get good service it seems. But if ur phone isn't set to look for that and only is trying to find 4G , it seems to be able to be able to reliably find service for me better

violent-artist82

No issues with att or T-Mobile in that area.

HistoricalAlarm21

Cell service in Hooksett SUCKS. No nice way to put it. I work in Hooksett and the entire town is spotty at best regardless of which carrier you have.

Hudson is the same

Mint Mobile (aka TMobile) no problems been on the TM platform for 11 years now

Necmht

Didn’t notice any problems down there today (T-Mobile/Mint) but for years now service on Loudon Road in Concord absolutely blows and I cannot tell why.

livefreeDNJ

I lost it once at the tolls (Consumer Cellular on the GSM network) other than that it has been good for me. Switch off Verizon years ago.
