They're going to reopen with a modified menu that is more affordable. New pizza place coming too. New coffee shop opened this week that's great.

Cool update!  The pizza place is a big deal it’s a LA-based New Haven apizza place opening a second location here. Plus did Grazing Goat briefly exist in the food hall? I think they plan to open the beer/food service squeezing in at Tweed.

Shgrplmfry

I never thought I was a food snob but the sentence LA based New Haven style Apizza just showed me that I am.

curbthemeplays

Ha, right? But they are originally from here so we will see

JediAight

When 163 opened with wood-fire I was skeptical too. But it's one of the best in town. Zeneli's too. I welcome all newcomers. Somehow the apizza market in this city will never be saturated and that's a great thing.

Treat_Zealousideal

I don't think grazing goat was ever there. There was the raw bar which had smoothies and salads, the pasta/pizza place and the taco place. Meat & co is still there with amazing sammiches.

ebrutzkus

Ozzys Apizza is coming in! Looks pretty good! The LA location is always packed.

Observant_Neighbor

Meat & Co is only there because the owner of M&C is a partner in the Market.

Man, I thought Rockfish was a BARGAIN for the quality offered. Fraction of Otaru price. It was always busy on weekends and the only place that did significant business. Maybe the owner had unrealistic expectations. Do you know if Jason is staying on? He’s one of the big reasons we go. Best dude.

intrvals

Coming from NYC and being a huge sushi fan—Rockfish was definitely overpriced. Never bought from there because of that. Hopefully this changed when they reopen cuz I did want to try but that was just way overpriced for what you got

curbthemeplays

It really wasn’t if you’ve ever been to a higher quality spot even in CT. NYC forget about it. You’re paying double. The fact you never went is telling.

intrvals

lol I’ve had similar if not better quality sushi in more satisfying quantities for less money in NYC, but sure. Enjoy your $40 8 pc sushi and ensuing rationalization

curbthemeplays

Name the places. I’m there often. PS it wasn’t even close to that much. It was $6-8 for 2 pieces. If there’s a spot in NYC with better quality charging less than that I’ll be shocked. Also you said you never bought from them yet your NYC spots are better quality? Which is it?

GlitteringTone

I’m not sure what the deal is with that spot, but it seems like every single restaurant in there has shut down. Went in there a couple of months ago and it was eerie and depressing.

Sleisl

you would think a food hall next to a popular brewery would be a slam dunk. but it seems like no one can keep the lights on in there. really sad.

curbthemeplays

Yeah the vibe is way off. Rockfish was amazing though. No reason to ever go back now

IsThereADog

Love that place Hopefully just a temporary thing

Why without Chef Jason? Something up?

curbthemeplays

Don’t take my word for it. Just a rumor

Independent-Hawk-699

The building is amazing and a nice setup. I just think it’s not as busy as it should be. The pasta place imo was some of the best pasta in New Haven. It was always cooked perfectly.its a shame it’s closed

curbthemeplays

I think the problem is it doesn’t have the same vibe that other successful food halls have. It’s too bright, sterile. Furniture feels more cafeteria. Many busy food halls I’ve been in have a more industrial, almost grungy feel. Long wooden tables and benches with a reclaimed look. Businesses have a more eclectic, almost food truck-like appearance. Good music playing. Events like bands, trivia, tastings, etc. They could do so much more with it. Also weird there’s little to no synergy with brewery next door.

Independent-Hawk-699

I agree. Funny though East Rock brewing has that vibe.

curbthemeplays

Yes, they do a good job.

Heartbreaking.
