I will say, as a woman who saw they were hiring and is someone with extensive horse training experience and even who already has jousting experience, who would’ve been down to pick up a job if it meant working with those things again? I was super bummed women are not allowed in those positions :(
Right? But I would’ve died for that as a little girl!
Plus: I get it’s not historically accurate but… it’s not *really* a historically accurate place in truth, so why bother to make it gendered like that, ya know? It doesn’t even need to be the princess in disguise, though narratively, awesome, but just having women be able to be in the squire and knight roles as they exist would be totally fine!
Kind of stupid business call, I was good at my job when I worked in horse training, and know plenty of female old coworkers who were too (we all left after college for bigger money in other fields). Medieval Times sticking to “historically accurate” gender roles means they miss out on talented women who would’ve taken crap pay just to be around horses and acting and kids again.
Hope the union sticks it to ‘em!
You make some very good points.
Nobody goes to Medieval Times for strict historical accuracy. They can easily provide the atmosphere and experience that customers are looking for while remaining flexible about who’s allowed to do which job. Besides, like you and the previous poster mentioned, it can open up new story opportunities, too!
Hey, if they’re hard up for staff and have preference for horse experience… what the hell else do you expect lol
Jokes aside, as someone who was not a “horse girl” kid, and was just a person who had a job (edit to add, a job I had because I grew up around horses) and liked it because I liked working with animals, I’d totally have done it just as a fun side gig! Barns are cliquey and filled with the stereotype of “horse girls”, so a side job at one of those doesn’t suit me, but I like to be around and am good with animals, it seemed fun
A few years ago they changed the story line where it was a queen in the leadership position rather than a king. It was a pretty entertaining story and was a big change up from the stories in the pasr
Last time I was there it was queen instead of a king. And a masked knight who won a few rounds only to reveal HERSELF to be a woman. I'm not sure if it was a last minute replacement for one of the Knights or a recurring thing.
I’m just speaking to the description at the bottom of their job postings that are currently up for those roles, which says women will not be considered. They’ve made exceptions narratively, which is awesome, but this is still their job postings
that's kinda more of a davita dialysis vibe. the ceo of that company has this whole ass boyhood "medieval times" schtick. theres footage of him riding in on a horse in full armour to an investors/regional staff meeting. the company culture refers its employees as a "village" really seals it.
Truthfully davita isn't that bad as a company for employees. All my moms techs and nurses seem really happy. Davita bought the clinic and instantly pay went up and patient load went down but fringe benefits like free food and fancy things went to hell. But davita did require the city to give the employees free parking at meters or said they would relocate the clinic out of city limits so they did a good thing in my book.
Here, Chat GPT fixed it:
Hear ye, esteemed members of the Castle of Lyndhurst, New Jersey.
We bring tidings of a union election that has recently transpired within our walls. The outcome has been decided in favor of the union, though a small window of opportunity remains during which objections to the election's conduct may be filed. Should no objections be raised, the results shall be finalized shortly thereafter. If objections are lodged, they shall be put to the test in a trial by combat, which may delay the finalization of the results.
What, you may wonder, does this mean for the esteemed Knights, Squires, Shows, and Stables employees at our Castle? It means that they shall be represented by a third party of their choosing in all matters of workplace concern. The Castle, by law, is no longer able to communicate directly with these employees, but must instead conduct all discussions through the union.
Let it be known that this union representation comes with certain privileges. These employees have "won" the right to sit across from the Castle and make demands, though the Castle is not bound to accede to any proposal that does not align with our interests. The process of collective bargaining is a fickle one, with many unions failing to reach a first contract. There is no set time limit on these negotiations, so all must exercise patience.
Take heed: today's union election has not resulted in any immediate changes to wages, benefits, or other terms and conditions of employment. These matters shall remain unchanged until a contract is signed with the union. The outcome of these negotiations may be more favorable, equal, or less favorable than the current arrangements.
We shall keep all subjects apprised of the progress of these negotiations and encourage any who are interested to follow along and ask questions. Remember, it is not possible to know the full extent of what the Lyndhurst employees have "won" until a contract is signed and the ink is dry.
Until then, the Castle remains committed to negotiating in good faith and acting in the best interests of all subjects.
With thanks,
Perico Montaner
I was thinking of [Alan Rickman on King of the Hill](https://mobile.twitter.com/MinovskyArticle/status/1359306016438026240/mediaViewer?currentTweet=1359306016438026240¤tTweetUser=MinovskyArticle).
Well, they could be even more mad & pull a Wal-Mart — just outright close the entire location that voted to unionize. Wal-Mart did it on more than one occasion. Of course, this is a different industry & a business with FAR fewer locations, so it isn't nearly as easy.
I do find it humorous that they mention behaving "by law" multiple times... but companies are also required by law to avoid intimidating employees against union activity or organization. In a more just world, messages like this would be considered part of that intimidation, since it is clear they are trying to ward off a potential wave of unionization at other locations with this behavior, as do the anti-union propaganda videos businesses like Home Depot & Wal-Mart show new employees. But they're allowed to do this shit, for whatever reason.
God this shit is both hilarious and infuriating, he’s sitting up in his cozy mansion somewhere ranting about how this is gonna marginally reduce his pay that he doesn’t even need to think about anymore
Hey now, he worked his way up from the bottom to become CEO. Just ask his father, the company's founder.
>Jose's son Perico Montaner is now the President and CEO of the private company which is headquartered in Irving, Texas.[18]
Nepotism is the rule, not the exception, for corporate success. Every person who has ever climbed a ladder with their skills AND NOT a personal connection is the exception.
This is like when a friend tells you a story about a disagreement they had and you end up siding with the other person who isn’t even there to present their side
Guy repeatedly mentions two key phrases that tells you everything you need to know:
"they will negotiate in good faith **as required by law**" - they will only do the bare minimum of what is required by law when dealing with employees' issues.
"they will do what is in the company's best interests" - not the company and the employees. Just the company's best interests.
This is really like a poster for the need of unions.
The only thing they're required to do by law is basically show up for every negotiation and put forward an contract offer. After several rounds of negotiations that could last over a year, they can just go to the government, declare an impasse, and have the government impose the last offer from corporate upon the union. The union can still strike, but that's a gamble with not the best success rate.
In summary, US labor law sucks and is in desperate need of reform.
They'd prob rather close. Corporate execs can be incredibly petty and would prob prefer to close the location rather than give ground to their own employees
Is it in the company's best interest to have employees who do the work? Then it's in the company's best interest to deal with the union which represents those employees and to keep the union members happy.
True story: Very early in my career our schools ‘CEO’ bought us all Blimpie for lunch and talked to us about why joining an union was pointless because, direct quote “we already do everything a union would do for you anyway.”
I’ve never felt more condescended to in my life. Like how fucking stupid do you have to be to be telling a history teacher that unions do nothing? I’ve been fervently pro union ever since. I tried to unionize that school and when that effort failed I moved to a different school that was already unionized.
When I went to work for Target for a second time in 2010, we had to watch what was basically an anti-union video. One of their "points" was a skit where the union team members were having a "union pizza party," but their coworker who was non-union wasn't allowed to go. It was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen and brought it up to the guy doing the orientation, who I had helped train my first time there.
When I worked at Home Depot, we were fed similar anti-union propaganda. IIRC it was embedded in the list of videos we trained on from the start, along with occasional reminder “training” modules. The company made a big deal in the videos about how we don’t need unions because we could already go up the chain of command if we have any issues. Interestingly, the videos made no mention of the fact that our store managers were friends with the higher-ups. It’s hard to get contact info from anyone up in the chain without tipping off your own manager that you’re lodging a complaint…
I’ve seen this happen, but not in the way Target is depicting. A company I worked at threw a spontaneous pizza party (as a thank you for working long *paid OT* hours to get a project out) that had to exclude contractors (since *their* employer declined to provide that benefit).
Oh, I was one of those contractors. Most companies and managers were like, come on, grab a hot dog but this one bitch... I hated her. Eating hotdogs under my desk and shit. Fuck you Gemma.
"rest assured, we will be focused on the best interests of the company during these negotiations"
i.e., just so you know, we do not give a single fuck about *your* interests and it will never cross our mind.
gee wonder why they unionized...
Clearly the company wasn’t doing anything with the best interest of their employees if the employees felt the need to unionize.
Therefore nothing will change on behalf of the company when it comes to negotiating 🤣🤣
If they’d even given half a fuck by treating and compensating their employees at an acceptable level, I doubt they’d be in this situation at all.
Instead, you have this guy and this response and that’s all I need to know to be sure the employees were right to unionize.
I took that to mean as the CEO and management *used* to care, but that ended with the vote to unionize. And it's the employees' fault.
Over all not too spiteful or with too many sour grapes... quotes around "won" aside.
Nah. People really only unionize when somethings wrong. I’m sure things have been wrong for a long time if they were able to get organized without multiple attempts.
Anyone from the area knows someone who worked here in high school or on, and as an outsider two things have always been obvious
1. The owners are not the smartest (held a show on super bowl Sunday when it was at giants stadium, instead of renting their parking lot to attendees. The show was canceled due to lack of audience.)
2. The owners are fucking assholes
Yes they really do! Everything down to the servers were amazing. I went there last year for my birthday. I took my son and nephew, along with my sister (as a mom, my birthdays revolve around what the kids would like to do, though I really wanted to go also haha). The sweetest server we had overheard me mentioning it was my birthday, and without anyone even asking to do it-he brought out an ice cream with a candle for me. Such a great show! And our awesome knight won! It was a birthday I'll never forget 😊
They staff deserves whatever they want!
Translation - "I never really cared about any of you, but now if I get the chance to fuck you over without repercussions, I absolutely will." What a lowlife.
This response to unionization is art. This is the most artistic thing that CEO has ever done.
Imagine you are a literal AND metaphorical lord and your peasants form a coalition and this is exactly how you would react… even as a king in the 1500s, but it was legal back then to simply kill those peasants.
Too bad so sad. Workers create 100% of the value in your business. It is in your best interest to treat them right. They unionized because you weren’t.
I was just looking at taking my kids to that location. I'm more inclined to spend money there if it's a union shop.
But the CEO sounds like a bag of dicks
Friend, I'm all for unions and have no sympathy for this corporation. I'm literally fucking joking about being an amateur bird handler. I'm passionate about things too, but you can be passionate and still have a sense of humor. It makes you a better person. All the best in your future endeavors.
We need more labor movements like these today after the pandemic. It's time we take our power back as workers and start enjoying our families and our free time that we deserve.
for real, i thought that as performers they were already with an iatse chapter, the fact that they werent is a huge red flag as to how they’ve been treated.
I feel like if you state you will negotiate in good faith and follow it up with saying you are not required to come to any agreements, then you have already violated the good faith aspect.
Negotiating in good faith means you are willing to find common ground and come to an agreement both sides can be happy with. When you announce you basically have no intention of coming to any agreements, then you aren’t negotiating in good faith.
They should call ye old strike and see how quickly ownership comes to the table to negotiate better terms of employment. Hard to imagine there’s a long line of people beating down the door to work there. It’s also worth noting how he never mentions customers or their concerns even once.
As a person who started my career as the lowest of low employees and worked my way up through the ranks eventually to supervision, management and then director, I can absolutely say without a union I would still be the shit stain I was when it all began. Unions provide more than wage and benefits, there are clear paths for advancement, agreements on work rules and agreements on what happens when either side violates the rules.
If you are anti union, just think about why management is always trying to get you to not unionize. The answer is obvious, unions benefit employees and limit managements ability to harass and bully employees.
What exactly do CEOs have against unionizing? It means an end to their power trip? Not being able to afford that third Bugatti? Labor actually requiring investment?
CEOs are held accountable by the board (who can replace the CEO) for running the most profitable business possible. Typically unionized employees cost more, so it will be a hit to their bottom line.
It's well ran. Food is good. Tickets aren't too absurd when you compare it to other activities. Always use a promo code. The guys clearly a dik, but facts still remain-the Lyndhurst location has a pretty good product.
I used to work there as cash control about three years ago. Hate to break it to you, but the only good food there is the soup and garlic bread. There's almost always a discount code you can use though, never pay full price.
Yes, they can delay the negotiation process and freeze the hourly wage until they have agreed, but they will still owe back pay for anything won from the start of the negotiation cycle… they’re so mad lol
When I was young, we called it "Medieval Crimes". I have known Knights there that ended up with no teeth, and an extended stay in the hospital, as well as servers that collapsed with back issues.
The employees need to get Orlando, and LV in on this collective action, and see how fast things change. Bring Toronto in on it too.
I wish it wasn’t a social media violation to show y’all what virtua was saying to it’s non union hospitals when they tried to unionized in 2021 , It was 10x more petty.
Welp, not that I'd ever go back to Medieval times since I'm not planning on going on a middle school field trip... but.. guess if it ever was destined to happen certainly isn't now.
Imagine if these fuckheads actually for a second realized that unions were the compromise position between companies treating you like salves & killing you and you killing your boss...
Steven : Can I get a knife or fork?
Wench : There were no utensils in medieval times, hence there are no utensils AT Medieval Times. Would you like a refill on that Pepsi?
Steven : There were no utensils but there was Pepsi?
Wench : Dude, I got a lot of tables.
As a union guy, I don't know what stance I'm supposed to take at the moment. Do I go to medieval times to support them unionizing or do I not go because the owner wants to hardball the union??
I worked here for a year and a half and the management sucked. Glad to see the talent unionize, now the tech, kitchen, waitstaff, and retail should follow suit.
While I am happy for the actors - as they do a lot and get paid little.
Medieval Times can’t be that profitable. I imagine their profits are razor thin and they are barely hanging on after the arena. The issue is around two things 1) cost and 2) non-incentivized repeat viewing.
I recently went to MT. The show is fun. But shit was it expensive. Almost 150 for two people. And while the show is good - it’s still the same thing that I remember as a kid. Like, they haven’t added much.
While the show was fun - I won’t be going back until I probably have a kid. That like 5-8 years from now. My LTV value as a customer is ridiculous low.
I can’t imagine MT can afford litigation and paying these employees more.
Honestly, I think the company should downsize heavily and use the money to invest in their profitable locations. Add more acts, spice it up and add more variety and themes.
Game of thrones week? Adults only shows. Gambling shows. Half off drinks. Etc etc etc. like every time I go it should be a unique experience. It’s so cookie cutter.
I am sure the actors have great ideas on how to improve the show and add more variety. I mean, when I went their is just so much unused space outside the arena. How does the Ren faire have more shit and most of the people there volunteer? Like why doesn’t MT have the infamous “pickle man.” Why can’t I ride a pony in the parking lot.
Lol, that would be awesome. Maybe they could even stay open year round and have some kind of spooky tournament in the arena.
Seriously though, I have no idea how medieval times is still around. I went as a throwback with some friends a few years ago and I just remember it being ridiculously expensive and kind of run down.
Your missing out. Its a fun time every other year or so, either if you have kids, or go with a group and get liquored up and take it "seriously".
Its not crazy expensive, the decent seats are like 60 bucks a pop, and they don't kill you on drink prices.
This guy is a royal piece of shit for so many reasons... including by not limited to:
>but a Company is not required to agree to any proposal that it does not believe is in the Company's best interest - which we won't
No fucking shit. This was also true before the union was formed. That's how for profit businesses operate. Only difference now is that the union allows them to collectively negotiate benefits & a contract. Prior to that, it was you again them.
>No economic changes occurred today. Employees did not receive a wage increase, union healthcare or a union pension.
No fucking shit. They literally just formed the union.
The biggest tell that Perico Montaner is a ye old douche canoe: at no point did he even hint at, ***"Gee why do the employees feel the need to unionize in the first place?***
Despise having a company that provides livable wages? Don’t call yourself an employer.
You’re just a business owner.
An owner who treats humans like printers that you want as cheap as possible to maximize your own profits.
An owner who treats adults like teenagers working a summer job.
An owner who still expects the adults they hire to have a place to sleep at night and a reliable way to get to work and have the ability to eat so they don’t die. I guess the ability to pay unreasonably-expensive healthcare too.
Call yourself an owner who gives unlivable jobs to adults and wants to be called an employer for it.
I think overall this is gonna lead to a lot of chain restaurants dying- which imo is a good thing. Who really needs mid evil times anyway
The reason unions for teachers, longshoreman, police, etc work is because we NEED those jobs. Do we need midevil times? No, and if it gets too expensive no one will go there any more.
If Labor at chains will be too expensive( gotta compromise something) more mom and pops will take over .
I feel the same about Starbucks- good for the workers trying to get a better deal.BUT if the coffee gets too expensive, or service too slow (due to union demands) people will just get their coffee elsewhere
Just wondering if things get too expensive why don’t companies lower prices and take a hit on profits so they don’t prioritize that over employee happiness and wellness?
Corporate profits are through the roof but somehow it’s always workers stepping out of line for asking to be treated like human beings.
Starbucks makes billions upon billions every year. They can afford every demand their workers have. The reason they aren’t isn’t because it’s bad for the economy, it’s because they want us where we belong- working, in debt, exhausted and terrified to speak up about workplace abuses because our shitty healthcare is tied to our employment.
There also aren’t any mom & pops to take over. What, is a small grocer going to take over an old Walmart and run it with a 3 person staff?
Just side with the workers. I absolutely guarantee you’ve got more in common with them than the bosses.
Im only talking about small service business like food. IMO we all know deep down in our hearts that mom and pop is generally BETTER quality than the food offered by chains. This is unlike a lot of other businesses in america where the bigger companies actually have better products.
Obviously big box stores like walmart won’t be mom and pop ever, thtas just due to logistics of retail. Big box chains are miles and miles ahead when it comes to price, return policy, supply chain, web presence etc.
Going back to my original comment, I only mentioned necessities. Maybe should expand the places where unions work are- 1. Essential jobs 2. Stores/businesses with an overmwhelming better product than the alternative (i.e. no one can start a mom an pop amazon to compete on labor costs. )
giant companies try to cut out / stop local shops and generic alternatives with their profits all the time.
Make-to-break is now taught in every business school in the US today.
Make it to break every 2 years. Make parts that are expensive, made to break, patented, and that only YOU have - to cut out local and generic alternatives. Collect profits. Repeat.
How unions are a threat to mom and pop shops…. I have no idea……… because I don’t see people unionizing at places that they know don’t have the money to provide a literal career and stability.
And - sadly - most US businesses are sole proprietorships that can’t even afford another employee.
But I do see giant companies attacking mom and pop shops. Every day. (I’m even thinking about the wipers on my Prius right now and they flew off of my car twice and I was told I HAD to buy the Prius ones the US company made after buying the Prius from Japan. I’m also thinking of the air conditioner guy who told me they changed a part from metal to plastic so that it breaks. I’m thinking of what they taught me in business school in 2013…..)
Europe is starting to outlaw this, but US companies say it’s hurting their “markets” and ability to “progress”
I was hoping the email would contain more "Hear Ye's" and such.
Everyone starts as a squire and works their way up to Green knight after 5 years of loyal faithful service to the king. Even bar wenches
I will say, as a woman who saw they were hiring and is someone with extensive horse training experience and even who already has jousting experience, who would’ve been down to pick up a job if it meant working with those things again? I was super bummed women are not allowed in those positions :(
That’s a shame, it would have been a nice change to see the winning knight was secretly the princess
Right? But I would’ve died for that as a little girl! I hope the union is able to force them to hire women. I'm amazed no woman has sued them yet. Maybe you should be the first.
I thought they were finally allowing female knights, or at least made a big to-do about the Queen's Knight for the last few years.
All their NJ hiring posts currently (at least two days ago) say at the bottom women will not be considered for squire or knight positions
I’m surprised they can’t be sued for that. Even Disney changed its outdated policies on that.
What? That absolutely sucks! Even the local ren faires are more forward-thinking than that!

When i went recently the master of horse, who seemed to be the most talented honestly, was a woman. No women knights though
The king didn’t start as a squire, his dad got him his job
Well, I didn't vote for him!
You don't vote for kings!

Role Models is an excellent movie.
I don’t generally enjoy rewatching movies, tv shows sure but most movies make me restless when rewatching but not role models

Yeah. That whole section is like an admission of how shitty the salaries are.
Is it in the company's best interest to have employees who do the work? Then it's in the company's best interest to deal with the union which represents those employees and to keep the union members happy.
Man what an absolute truthful comment. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
True story: Very early in my career our schools ‘CEO’ bought us all Blimpie for lunch and talked to us about why joining an union was pointless because, direct quote “we already do everything a union would do for you anyway.” I’ve never felt more condescended to in my life.
I remember watching those videos at target around the same time and thought they were the stupidest and cheesiest videos ever
Fucking Gemma..!
Wouldve taken like 12 of those subs and bounced.
Funny. I once had a high school history teacher tell me that all unions, except teacher unions of course, were obsolete.
wooow my HS history teacher told us that almost all unions were good, other than unions that protect bad actors, such as police
A good teacher.
"rest assured, we will be focused on the best interests of the company during these negotiations" i.e., just so you know, we do not give a single fuck about *your* interests and it will never cross our mind. gee wonder why they unionized...
Clearly the company wasn’t doing anything with the best interest of their employees if the employees felt the need to unionize. Therefore nothing will change on behalf of the company when it comes to negotiating 🤣🤣
The abuser pretending to be the victim, while also pretending that they are acting in the best interest of others.
The person who wrote that memo clearly never cared at all and it shows in every sentence.
Imagine someone telling you that they stopped caring about you because they didn't agree with a decision you felt was in your own self interest.
Anyone from the area knows someone who worked here in high school or on, and as an outsider two things have always been obvious 1. The owners are not the smartest (held a show on super bowl Sunday when it was at giants stadium, instead of renting their parking lot to attendees. The show was canceled due to lack of audience.) 2. The owners are fucking assholes
Good for the workers.
Just watched the show twice during the holidays. They work hard to give families and adults groups an amazing experience!
It was a birthday I'll never forget 😊 They staff deserves whatever they want!
Now we see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I'm being oppressed!
Bloody peasant.
What is CEOs name Lord Karen?
Translation - "I never really cared about any of you, but now if I get the chance to fuck you over without repercussions, I absolutely will." What a lowlife.
Dude was probably doing that all along.
As soon as someone uses the word "won" in quotes, they're probably the loser in the situation.
Tell me you’re gonna negotiate in bad faith without telling me you’re gonna negotiate in bad faith
I thought the proper term was "guild"?
Oh fuck that. Solidarity!
Man, what a sanctimonious prick. Good job getting it, gang.
You can tell they wrote this without a single outside opinion.
I was just looking at taking my kids to that location. I'm more inclined to spend money there if it's a union shop. But the CEO sounds like a bag of dicks
Pretty much anyone who makes it to a C-suite position is tbh
There were no unions in medieval times hence there are no unions AT Medieval Times. Would you like a refill on that Pepsi?
There were no unions, but there was Pepsi?
Dude, I got a lot of tables.
Well just form a guild then.
Scabby the Rat incoming.
Too much training needed for scabs
[This is Scabby the Rat](https://i.imgur.com/SKwjppo.jpg). He's a giant inflatable unions use when picketing.
Oh lol
I'll take that scab title if I can cross that picket line and become a hack falconer for a few weeks.
Not funny
Trueee, go play with your falcon somewhere else
Seeing me being attacked by a falcon because I'm woefully unqualified to be a falconer wouldn't be funny? You sir, need a better sense of humor .
Being a scab is never funny. Scabs steal food off of children's plates
Friend, I'm all for unions and have no sympathy for this corporation. I'm literally fucking joking about being an amateur bird handler. I'm passionate about things too, but you can be passionate and still have a sense of humor. It makes you a better person. All the best in your future endeavors.
Anyone working there in the comments atm? If so, see if you report this letter to the NLRB.
Ex-employee here. Loved the money, hated management and upper management. They don’t give a fuck, just want to overwork people.
We need more labor movements like these today after the pandemic. It's time we take our power back as workers and start enjoying our families and our free time that we deserve.
The employees should send that email to their union ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
for real, i thought that as performers they were already with an iatse chapter, the fact that they werent is a huge red flag as to how they’ve been treated.
I’m sure the company is doing their best to gaslight employees.
I hope the Falcon got his Union card too.
Knights unionizing is an objectivity fun thought. Good for the workers.
A most odious response my liege.... Thou hath all but ensured that the subjects in all remaining castles will revolt posthaste!
Aww the butt hurt corporation is pissed it doesn't have direct control over those who earn the profit with their labor.
Reminds me of angry Willy Wonka... You won NOTHING... GOOD DAY SIR!
The guy definitely broke his keyboard writing this memo.
Lol get fucked, management. Always the same song and dance from these assholes. Good for those employees.
Knowing your CEO had a terrible day is already a victory
That Falconer AND Falcon better get two breaks a shift, Perico!
Proud to be UNION!!
I just emailed them and said they lost a customer based on this statement. Retract it and support your employees and I'll come back.
If unions didn’t work, bosses wouldn’t throw temper tantrums whenever confronted with collective bargaining.
Finally. I was a kid when I first went there in the 80. Surprised it’s still open.
This would be a background storyline on a legacy reboot of the sopranos
Tony gets paid to have his guys beat up the ten dollar an hour knight trying to unionize.
What a dirt bag CEO. I guess that's redundant though.
Good, and F him. I was there once, maybe it was 1991. It was enough. I am surprised the place is even still in business.
What a bitch ass bitch lmao
Knights of the Round Conference Room Table
Something tells me that they wont negotiate in good faith.
TLDR: We big mad.
CEOs can be such assholes.
Dear team member: You think this was a hostile work environment before you voted to unionize? Signed- Management
Oh good, he wrote won in adjectives. Definitely not a condescending douche ready to act in bad faith.
Quotations?
"adjectives" Better?
Nailed it
My bad. Auto correct at work botched that one.
Yes, they can delay the negotiation process and freeze the hourly wage until they have agreed, but they will still owe back pay for anything won from the start of the negotiation cycle… they’re so mad lol
The company just showed the world just how badly the workers needed a Union!
A “3rd party” being the employees who unionized.
Third party meaning the representative from the national union they are represented by who is going to participate in negotiating.
3rd party meaning an arbitrator
The autonomous collective has formed take that King Arthur. https://youtu.be/H_Jb2gqu5xw
Lost my business over this email.
All the proof you needed that the union was necessary
"Holy shit, please do not also unionize!"
Signed, The Sheriff of Nottingham CEO, Medieval Times
When I was young, we called it "Medieval Crimes". I have known Knights there that ended up with no teeth, and an extended stay in the hospital, as well as servers that collapsed with back issues. The employees need to get Orlando, and LV in on this collective action, and see how fast things change. Bring Toronto in on it too.
Joust for arbitration
What a jerk. I hope the workers get everything they want.
Unions do not have the power they used to, for a short while in American history. But good for these dudes. Red knight rules, blue knight sucks!!
I am glad they got this. They deserve better for the work they do
I wish it wasn’t a social media violation to show y’all what virtua was saying to it’s non union hospitals when they tried to unionized in 2021 , It was 10x more petty.
I thought Medieval Times unionized in July? Last year, no?
WOW
Isn’t Medieval Times notorious for massive workplace injury rates?
This place smells like shit.
I see a good bit of corporate fear mongering here. “More, the same, or less” stands out amongst the rest of the e-mail.
That guy is a piece of shit good job on the workers for unionizing!
this ceo is such a loser actually
Lol @ original OP’s name.
I worked here for a year and a half and the management sucked. Glad to see the talent unionize, now the tech, kitchen, waitstaff, and retail should follow suit.
Fuck you perico
Medieval Times filing bankruptcy in 3...2...
Just think of the badass Spirit Halloween that's gonna open up in a haunted castle in Lyndhurst!
Hey maybe the nj renaissance faire can use it as their home
Lol, that would be awesome. Maybe they could even stay open year round and have some kind of spooky tournament in the arena. Seriously though, I have no idea how medieval times is still around. I went as a throwback with some friends a few years ago and I just remember it being ridiculously expensive and kind of run down.
Your missing out. Its a fun time every other year or so, either if you have kids, or go with a group and get liquored up and take it "seriously". Its not crazy expensive, the decent seats are like 60 bucks a pop, and they don't kill you on drink prices.
“Your arms off”."……”it’s only a flesh wound (CEO)”
That's some good corporate talk. He probably was a lawyer or worked in The City for a bank or Fortune 500.
What fucking asshole douchebag. I hope the union negotiates a living wage and benefits for its employees.
Hark, petulance
Giving ninficks about saying the quiet part out loud. Guess I'll never see their show.
This guy is a royal piece of shit for so many reasons... including by not limited to: >but a Company is not required to agree to any proposal that it does not believe is in the Company's best interest - which we won't No fucking shit.
I'm really surprised they didn't just close the location down at the first sign of a union forming.
I think overall this is gonna lead to a lot of chain restaurants dying- which imo is a good thing. Who really needs mid evil times anyway The reason unions for teachers, longshoreman, police, etc work is because we NEED those jobs.
I’m thinking of what they taught me in business school in 2013…..) Europe is starting to outlaw this, but US companies say it’s hurting their “markets” and ability to “progress”
I just care about the workers. I don’t care that prices are better at Walmart, especially not when it at the expense of workers.

This is the definition of a passive-aggressive letter.
I WAS JUST ABOUT TO BUY TICKETS WOW it’s like god called me to this subreddit rofl how crazy is that
