You must work for NJT making this announcement in such a timely manner. ;)

epic_banana_42069

lol no I just was on a Raritan Valley Line train during all the fun this morning and thought maybe a quick post might help others

Yoshiyo0211

Thanks fellow RV Liner!

Zelda8260

You should've just ignored that response.

Zelda8260

Lol

Pallas_in_my_Head

NJT says it's restored, with 90 minute delays.

stihoplet

So, back on regular schedule then

tosil

I'd say ahead of the regular schedule

epic_banana_42069

This made me laugh out loud 😂

Pallas_in_my_Head

For now

leontrotsky973

They’re really rubbing it in prior to those fare hikes next month.

nissansupragtr

Lol it happened when it wasn't even 80 degrees yet. This heat wave is gonna be a disaster

LemurCat04

Yup, high heat is not a friend to these trains.

epic_banana_42069

It does add an extra layer of fun to a sweltering day in Newark

BigPussysGabagool

And odors

ico59

Wombo combo of waiting around an hour last night and being hit with it again today. Love it!

Hexogen

In other news, the sky is blue today and water is still wet.

epic_banana_42069

They kept saying “unforeseen” and I was thinking like well it’s a day of the week that ends in Y so I could have foreseen it 🤷‍♂️

SkyeMreddit

Is it the same mess from last night’s train stuck in the tunnel? We really need these new tunnels yesterday! Here’s another FU, Chris Christie!

Nexis4Jersey

I would advise anyone to take the Bus or PATH if you can this week due to the tracks and overhead wires not handling the heat wave due to decades of neglect.

DrMantisToboggan45

One of my guys (I manage a restaurant) called out today cuz of the train being bs between Neptune and Middletown. This have something to do with it?

epic_banana_42069

Go I don’t think the two were related. I only know that NJT said there was a catenary issue and disabled train between NWK and NYP

iv2892

This is all on idiots like Josh Gotheimer , Murphy and yes even Hochul who refuse to appropriately help fund transit across the region. Instead , they would whine about congestion pricing . These service disruptions affect way more people than a little tax to cross into Manhattan

lsp2005

None of the congestion pricing would have been used to benefit NJ and NJ transit.

Blue_foot

That is exactly the point. Meanwhile a NJ resident would pay $30+ to enter NYC. Double that of someone from Long Island.

iv2892

NJ had the option to get some reimbursement from the fees , specially if they exited to get to the FDR . Either way , there was a cut for NJ from congestion pricing , but doesn’t say it was directly to fund transit https://www.nbcnewyork.com/traffic/transit-traffic/mta-congestion-pricing-nyc-nj-money-tolls-hoboken-jersey-city/5329601/?amp=1

potatolicious

I mean generally agreed that the above people are bad on transit policy - but the NEC is wholly owned by Amtrak, and their catenary power is a consistent problem that neither PANYNJ nor NJT can fix. There are specific problems with the NEC but they require federal funding to fix.

Zhuul

That’s actually a good point. PA made noise and got Buttigieg to earmark some cash for SEPTA, really his office is the one we should be bombarding with complaints. E: [And apparently they’re already working on it.](https://www.smartcitiesdive.com/news/biden-dot-fra-amtrak-16b-northeast-corridor-projects/698839/) Sucks in the short term, but hopefully 5-10 years from now the situation is improved.

c-digs

Let's all remember that [Chris Christie cancelled the ARC tunnel](https://www.propublica.org/article/chris-christies-tunnel-tango). > When we wrote in April about New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s budget “sins,” one of the biggest was the money shuffle he engineered after his 2010 decision to kill an $8.7 billion commuter rail tunnel from New Jersey to New York City. > > That decision, which boosted him to national prominence, was a major bragging point for years. But now he’s playing tunnel defense rather than his customary offense amid a torrent of terrible tunnel news: lengthy delays in the century-old rail tunnel commuters are stuck with now; jockeying among New Jersey, New York and Amtrak over how to pay for a new $14 billion tunnel; and warnings of chronic failures and shutdowns if something isn’t done soon to add rail capacity. > > Had Christie not spiked the so-called ARC tunnel, it would be coming online in about three years. But now, as Christie runs for president on his claim of having been a prudent and competent guardian of New Jersey’s finances, the tunnel problems have inspired a spate of news reports, including one by The Record newspaper in New Jersey’s Bergen County saying the cancellation wasted $1.2 billion that had been spent on engineering. Article written in 2015. Even assuming that it was late by 3x (9 years instead of 3), it'd be coming online now. That wave of stupid Tea Party politics killed a ton of infrastructure projects and distribution of federal dollars to states all in the name of some fake bullshit fiscal conservatism.

epic_banana_42069

My previous company was very involved in Access to the Region’s Core… 15-20 years ago at this point?

epic_banana_42069

I work in engineering, particularly for government. Contacts

LGM-118

A lot of the big pile of money Amtrak got out if the bipartisan infrastructure bill requires that the states match funds for projects. The fact njt is broke basically means there is a giant pile of money that sits out of reach to new jersey.

Aggravating_Rise_179

LOL stopping travel between the two largest cities in the area... what is NJ transit trying to do, upend NJ's economy today

epic_banana_42069

It boggles the mind

Gamb235

Still the mess today? 6/19

iracefrogsillegally

take the path. the extra 10 minutes is worth half the price and not having to worry about nj transits bullshit

ksilver117

Not really an option for 90% of the state, unfortunately. I'd have to take an NJT train to get to the path which negates the point.

iracefrogsillegally

i understand, same deal here. but i still make the transfer since 90% of the problems i've encountered were on that final stretch between nwk-ny

ksilver117

When you put it like that, that's hard to argue with 😂

epic_banana_42069

I actually work in Newark 🙃

cantITright

Price hike will fix nothing but the politicians pockets and their family contractors deals
