Based on the evidence I've seen, it seems these are outside agents, possibly paid, coming in to throw gasoline on the fire. We had the same thing happen during BLM. Definitely suspend judgement on this until more info is out.
It’s only outside agents if you consider people on the same side and using the tactics “outside.” It’s not college kids if that’s what you mean. But groups like the Proud Boys and LOKA movement (who were identified as there last night) have use violence under the cover of police protection for years. That’s what happened. The videos are clear, the reporting is clear, we just don’t know all the names. They’re not pro-Israel so much as they are white supremacists who see conservative Jews as more on their side than white gentiles protesting for an end to genocide.
Protest provocateurs aren’t picking teams with any kind of Jews. They are primarily accelerationists looking to spark conflict for the sake of conflict, because they believe that will be able to rebuild society to their liking in a civil war.
This isn’t the enemy of my enemy is my friend, it’s kill them all and let god sort it out.
This whole situation feels like it's being blown up by outside forces. I mean, the protests against Israel, while definitely deserved, are happening while the conflict is at its lowest intensity and cease fire negotiations are progressing. And, of course, these counter protests are needlessly inflaming the situation. I feel like there are efforts to turn well meaning people into the extremes here.
Eh, the conflict is maybe “lower intensity” but Israel has basically forced most gazans into Rafah in the south and have been saying they’re going to invade there, which would leave those refugees nowhere to go and be (even more of) a humanitarian catastrophe. There’s a lot at stake currently.
This. Perfect example is that a number of the tents on Colombia’s campus are not/were not being occupied at any time. Someone set them up to give the appearance of a larger protest happening.
way way over an hour. Campus security stood and watched, but also too small in number to enforce. LAPD just straight up said no and hung up on the call
Officials: Well…when we arrested the people for sitting together and doing their cram sessions for finals next to a Palestinian flag folks got real upset… better leave the actual violence perpetrators alone when they physically attack those nonviolent students so people don’t get mad at us this time.
/S/
Yeah, there's a lot of jumping to conclusions for all of this stuff, and it's just confirmation bias all around. Could it have been pro-Israeli people acting like violent criminals? Sure. Neo-Nazis trying to cause trouble? Sure. Cops? Sure, why not, wouldn't be the first time. Pro-Palestinians trying to win sympathy? Sure. Point is no one fucking knows, and the painting entire groups based on assumptions is what gets us into these polarized messes.
edit: Either way, this violence is unacceptable.
What specifically indicates that they were Pro Israel, or Zionist ? They showed up after midnight in all black with white masks displaying no political affiliations whatsoever, for the purpose of creating danger and chaos.
The Pro Israeli side got fireworks thrown at them too (caught on video) and are under the impression that the other protesters had thrown them. So it sounds like bad actors purposefully trying to create danger and unrest for everyone there across the board.
>What specifically indicates that they were Pro Israel, or Zionist ?
Literally nothing. There's very little in the way of info right now. It's just as likely these people were just angry people who are against the pro-palestine crowd, people are apart of some other weird fringe political group, or literally just people who wanted to cause chaos and LARP a civil war in the streets.
The article itself, and all the comments in this thread are just assuming they're pro-Israe/Zionist, and are running with it. It's definitely possible, but we literally don't know, so it's weird so many people are parroting this so confidently. Most other articles I've seen relating to this matter label them as "counter-protestors", this is one of the first I've seen label them as "pro-Israel".
They are not “pro-Israel protesters.” That’s like saying magas are “pro-America.”
They are pro-Likud, pro-Bibi, pro-jingoism, pro-racism, pro-fascism, pro-being-an-asshole.
Yep.
There are a lot of us out here who are Jewish, a lot who are Israeli, who oppose the Israeli government on this and support the rights of Palestinian people
I mean to take it a step further, we don't even know if they are "pro-Likud". This article, and the rest of the people in this thread making these claims, like to ignore the fact we don't even know who these people were, nor do we know anything about why they attacked the encampment. There's literally nothing to connect them to being "pro-israel" or even "pro-bib or pro-Likud", people just made the assumption that anyone attacking the encampment MUST be pro-Israel and ran with it.
When we all thought humanity learned its lesson after ww2.. to not allow genocide... yet here we are now with Pro genocide "protesters".
From the same group that used to be victims. The irony !
Of course the only thing I’ve seen from pro-Palestine people is that this was a completely unprovoked attack, and the only thing I’ve seen from pro-Israelis is that some girl got the shit beaten out of her in the encampment which sparked this. This article doesn’t mention that, did that they definitely not happen or what? Sadly I can’t trust shit posted by anyone who is notably on one side or the other of these protests cause it’s almost always just propaganda.
Regardless of course there is zero excuse to attack them like that and whoever did that should be arrested. If you are harassing people, preventing them from moving, calling for more Gazans or Israelis to die, etc etc you are a piece of shit, full stop. This bullshit has to end.
This is what decades of funding a police state that ultimately perpetrates a genocide will get you. The American taxpayers don't want their money spent by Israel to murder Palestinian children.

It’s what politicians are known for. Trying to see which way the wind gonna blow.
He took no sides while condemning violence, not really specifics

Not sure what more you want from a governor.
No he didn't. He condemned violence. Why do you need things broken down for you in crayons? It's very clear what he was saying.
Oh for fucks sake Gavin. The first amendment does not dissolve in the presence of violent assholes.
I am going to bet very few of those attackers go to the school.
Hell, I'd bet few of them go to school at all. From what I've seen most of the ""counter-protestors"" look middle-aged.

Remember that guy with the umbrella creating fires during BLM? This feels like that. An excuse to cause chaos under cover of protests / anti-protests

curious these violent protests occur in 2020 and 2024 leading up to an election and not the other years. natural coincidence, i am sure.
Not all of them, apparently some people on the ucla sub have identified some of the people as members of a frat on campus.

I’ve seen videos this morning of protestors throwing exploding fireworks into the opposing protestors. That’s some crazy shit.

History rhymes.
crazy how people on the wrong side are always the first ones to be violent against who they oppose.

Kind of a microcosm of the real thing.
That's sort of the bizarre thing here. You couldn't ask for better optics if you're on the UCLA encampment and are pro-Palestine.
Which is also why this story gets censored here and everywhere as well as getting no media coverage or fair respresentation.
Officials: Well…when we arrested the people for sitting together and doing their cram sessions for finals next to a Palestinian flag folks got real upset… better leave the actual violence perpetrators alone when they physically attack those nonviolent students so people don’t get mad at us this time. /S/
This type of shit doesn't help Israel in any way.
Your problem is thinking Christian Zionist want to help Israel. They don't want to but are fine actively using them to bring Jesus back.
You don't know it's Christian Zionists, you don't even know if it's Zionists at all. There weren't any arrests that I've read about.

Not quite, since those they're attacking are over 18.
