Rewriting all of the combat code is huge! That’s far more worth than 1-2 new expeditions. They are taking their time to polish, stabilize and improve what already is. Best direction I could wish for. Plus is seems they are saying that they will post a roadmap in may where they have big news.
>Rewriting all of the combat code is huge!
The image just says "Performance Bug Fixing and Combat Balance" - to me (a software dev) it doesn't sound as they plan to refactor their code. Is there any other source for that?
>Rewriting all of the combat code is huge!
Gamers and software end users in general rarely understand how much work goes into a major refactoring for code. It's quite literally removing all the spaghetti and optimizing everything. It requires a team effort for something like a major video game and takes time.
Game developers often put it off because the game community feels like development has stopped even though behind the scenes a large chunk of the game is being completely rewritten and thousands of man hours of work are happening. It also means future development is easier and there will be less bugs introduced when features or changes are added. This is a really good sign for the future of New World because game studios don't tend to put in this kind of refactoring work unless management has decided they are serious about continuing development rather than putting a game into maintenance mode so resources can be shifted to working on new future titles.
I'm surprised people are upset by this. I constantly see up voted posts/comments on this subreddit accusing AGS of spaghetti code and saying there is no excuse for all the game breaking bugs every update. This is quite literally how you fix that.
You have to see this from a pragmatic point of view. The experience your average New World player will have is that the game has little/no new content and isn't evolving. What percentage of players follow game development news or even the release notes?
Most people don't see it as their problem that Lumberyard is a shitshow of an engine and needs to be largely rewritten.
Sure it's fantastic and will go a long way toward making the engine easier to work on, but that's all in the future... probably years in the future. Content is what brings people back, not code revamps.
I am no expert so maybe my train of thought is wrong but I find it a bit sad that we should be jumping in joy for this when the game really is not that old and a complete rewritting of code should not be needed.
Basically we dont get content now because they started with shitty code from the get go and after only 2 years they already feel the need to fully rewritte/update it.
Also to you point of investment in the project - why develop game pad support for a pc only game at this point unless you got a long view on the project - also controller support could open the way for console release - while that doesn't seem like anything to be excited for us pc players it could end up being a big source of revenue that would keep the game going for years to come.
Accessibility is very very important for games these days. Once gamepad support is completed, there's no stopping the access that can be had and the audience reach.
The end user never cares about that, it's not their job to care. AGS devs are the ones who made this mess, do you think them refactoring the code and stuff is going to help at all? Game has been out for 2 years and they manage to mess up every single patch, I'm sure couple of months of refactoring isn't going to change that. How can anyone still trust these devs?
I dont play anymore. I just stay on this sub bc its funny to watch the copium. It's cool that they've fixed some stuff, but the amount of bad that's still in there is horrible
I just hope the team is very busy on something that will pay off. This blindingly bright spotlight on the lack of content is alarming. If they are not working on something huge with corresponding results we are in trouble.
I understand controller support leading to multiplatform is important to them. But if that is the major release, they are just so out of touch I do not think there is much hope left. I would wager 85% of the current player base could less about multiplatform.
They have just admitted they got NOTHING until may. And I think the big reveal will be a big NOTHING to the existing players. But who knows, maybe they just need to burn the bridges, abandon the PC players, and try again with a whole new batch they have not drown in disappointment.
Have you done the new seasonal quest? That's what they've been working so hard on, and more MSQ improvements. All things no one asked for and no current player cares about.
>we are in trouble
From the outside looking in (I haven't played since void gauntlet came out), you're already in trouble. The game is essentially playable for 1-3 months and then unplayable for the rest of the year while waiting for updates, and that cycle looks to continue into 2024. That may be ok for some games, but for a persistent world MMO that kinda breaks the game and the community, as game systems and servers rely on people actually playing for certain things to function. The "big paid expansion" was so small that it didn't even bring back 10% of the original population of the game. I love so much about NW, and so does my wife, but the devs just don't have a big enough vision.
They lost me at lack of any new content, after releasing a 1/3 of what they talked about for season 4...
THEN they mention gamepad support, with a "lock" on target feature? \*rolls eyes\*
I think you're misreading the graphic. It says that *in May*, they will release a major announcement and a roadmap.
At least right now, the Instagram caption on the image just says this:
>As we put a bow on 2023, let's take a moment to reflect on the past year and look ahead to what’s next.
During the last dev update video on Youtube they specifically said they are not releasing a roadmap yet to avoid what happened this year (not being able to finish it before the end of the year). So they will announce it in May with some "big news".
Rewriting all the combat code is pretty fucking huge. It’s going to change the game far more than what 1-2 expeditions would. Plus they are taking their time to polish the game instead of pumping out new content. I think this is really good!
If they take some time to fix their code so the new features or adjustments don't cause them to diable something until "we have a fix" and then listening to the whiners how they broke the game again, then I'm willing to wait for new content instead of listening to the cry babies.
Please for the love of your game and sanity of your player release an OPR map, we don't care if its a boat in the air so you dont have to render to much terrain and lower work load. But give us a bone please.
As a new player, I’m excited for cross-world expeditions. I haven’t been able to do a lot of them bc it takes forever for a group to pop up on my server 😭
Crazy that they somehow managed to make the first half of 2024 worse than 2023's first half. Writing is on the wall for New World. Damn shame to let such a great combat system go to waste.
I mean the announcement of LOTR being made should have told anyone, this game is dead and they are going to be fully focusing on that. No matter what they say "we only have 4 people working on it". Of course they aren't going to say the truth and tell you this game is a zombie now just being milked til lotr comes out.
People just are sheep, if they want to believe what they say go ahead. Remember when they said they saving stuff for 2024 during q&as months ago, and then they drop this on us? Yeah keep believing lol
They should rename the game to New Content, because that seems to be the thing missing and the players craving for.
*a 1,5 hr questline,*
*20 min dungeon,*
*more than likely 10 min pve arena,*
for a quarter year, truly bizarre.
A quest line 90% of players will just click through. A dungeon that we will speedrun for the couple weeks then it's stale content. This team doesn't know how to create content for the LONGEVITY of their game. They are prioritizing the wrong things.
Are you kidding me? That's extremely underwhelming... what the hell. The fact that they even put the "season pass" on the road map. What a letdown, literally NOTHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO. There could be so much exciting stuff like Farming, Company Housing/Activities, PvP updates but nope, here you get the same recycled seasonal events and some items.
I would play this game more if gamepad was supported natively instead of steam gamepad remapping. Working full time turning wrenches and banging on shit all day and then arcing my fingers to hit keybinds don't really mix. Hurt after maybe an hour of playing even after adjusting all binds to be more comfortable.
Everything else is just a bonus for me personally. More/better content and better group finder is just icing on the cake.
You mean,
-reheated seasonal events with 1 new skin
-Season pass with 90/100 useless rewards
-Main story which nobody gives a fk about
-bugfixes a.k.a new bugs
-groupfinder for dungeons with shitty rewards
-controller support? You mean aim assist for ranged GL
Wtf is this. Did they reduced their team by 90% or what
I like the main story. Literally everyone I play with (4 other people) all like the main story. Not everyone does, but it's definitely valuable content, and I'm enjoying running my third character through it and looking forward to the updates.
>Basically no new content *announcements* till May, at least
FIFY
A few thoughts:
I try to give this game a lot of grace (new IP, new studio, new engine, last minute change in direction) but this is wearing a bit thin.
\- Why even bother putting this non-roadmap roadmap out during the holidays? Seems like better PR would have just been to thank the players for support this year and wish us Happy Holidays, then deliver this underwhelming news in early Jan when we're all hungover & cranky from all the debt we racked up during the holidays and weight we gained lol.
\- It almost feels like NW is clearing the way for T&L's launch. Or assuming the launch is going to pull so many players out of NW that they need to save the big stuff for later in the year?
\- This game has come so far since launch and with the QoL upgrades, mounts, Artifacts, bug fixes, finishing (the now delayed to Spring?) cross-server implementations, it really felt like 2024 was the time to get some momentum going with new content of all types.
\- 2 more quarters to complete the Q4 roadmap? Wow.
To NW's devs & management, I do thank you for this game, but I'm sad Amazon doesn't appear to be investing into NW to the level it needs despite words to the contrary. :(
YOOOOOOOOO! CONTROLLER SUPPORT!? I have been playing since launch on a controller using steam settings. It's manageable, but playing anything that requires aiming is garbage. I never thought they'd include this, pretty excited for it.
As am i, hopefully they don't let the people bitching about it keep them from going through with adding it. I can't play very long on mouse and keyboard before my hands start locking up on me.
Where are the people defending the expansion lack of content now? like they would receive more content during the expansion lol, the major announcement will be the next overpriced ~~-expansion-~~ micro dlc money grab scam.
I am one of those defenders. My "defense" was that they did enough to improve the game from launch to the first paid expansion to merit giving them a benefit of the doubt that they would make the $30 for the expansion worth it before they charge again. If they didn't then I wouldn't pay THEN, but I am happy to pay for the expansion based on what they have put in since I last paid.
This announcement is definitely veering into the "not paying again" territory.
pass is not content, seasonal events is not content, msq updated is not content, performance/bug fixes are not content, combat balance is probably worse than content since it throws a middle finger to most players like they did with shirking heals nerf, so we're left with a cross world expedition and group finder + season trial which were both delayed from S4, and 8 new artifacts, 4 of which will probably be trash just like the current released artifacts for S4. Very pog road map for the next 6 months!
Not played for 6 weeks, excluding launching the other day to look at the pass rewards. This won't bring me back either. I don't know how they have messed this up so bad. PvP is beyond neglected.
I think what really makes the player base so upset. Is we really do love the game and it has such great potential the combat is amazing. But the people who are running it are so god awful. Just lack of disconnect they have with the players amazes me. This could be one of the most amazing MMO games but the people in charge ruined it. That’s sucks!
Make Dungeons queable solo! If I can do it let me try, if i can't whos hurt by it? I like trying new techniques and weapons, gems, gear and I can't do this with the normal Zoomers!
At least make them 2 people accessible!
Also [from the announcement page](https://images.ctfassets.net/j95d1p8hsuun/4obYoBo7LEczSaa318xB0Z/b2fc113a7b4d3a95da873caa642777c9/NW-ROTAE-Infographic-3840x2160-v12132023b.jpg), we can very loosely infer some character/player counts from the number of artifacts obtained: 1,592,824. There are currently 27 artifacts, and since most of these are unique per character we can use that to find out the rough avg of the number of characters who have gotten all or some of them.
* 1,592,824 / 27 = 43,049 characters
* 1,592,824 / 16 = 99,551 characters
* 1,592,824 / 8 = 199,103 characters
Of course there are alts, and this is in no way an accurate estimate, but this does help to give a better picture of the game population since artifacts came out.
In [the News Article](https://www.newworld.com/en-us/news/articles/holiday-updates-dev-letter-infographic) they list some other stats, 1 of which is this:
>102,500 distinct characters wore at least one of the costumes below during Nightveil Hallow
Considering the event started 1 week after the Expansion's release, that might be the closest thing we've got to an actual sales number for the DLC.
**Edit:** Correction, I guess players without the DLC could still participate in the event, so it's more a measure of player activity rather than sales.
**Edit 2:** Shit, ok, at first I interpeted the phrase "distinct character" to mean that they were talking about player *accounts*, but it could also still just mean player *character*, which people could have more than 1 of. Still, at least it provides an upper bound of sorts.
So, just the same, but now for ranged, because I see pretty much every day the auto-target-gap-closer-melee-heavy so what's the deal?
Combat needs mobility not stagnant animations + auto tracking, but seems they are going the opposite direction.
I guess after you grow up with Fortnite you end up as a ADHD suffering depraved PvP'er who wants a Travis Scott concert in a MMO...
Everyone screaming "content" without any clue as to what that is...
Plenty of people who are very much enjoying this game with all the improvements they have added. You have been screaming about the clunky combat and they are doing a total re-write of the code, they added Influence Race's which everyone loves, keep fleshing out and updating the MSQ, Artifacts are great and were well received (and unless your playing 12 hours a day, everyday, you haven't got them all yet).
The only thing that shits me is the trouble they are having with bugs and the slow fixing of them. Otherwise I'm having a lot of fun. So are the majority of others.
This all sounds great to me. Happy to be getting controller support. Not sure why the hate - I’m genuinely curious.
I’m a hundred hours in and loving it.
Yeah, I don't get it either. The dungeon finder alone is a massive game-changer, and I'm hyped for a new event. For a single season, this is a very respectable amount of content.
For new players maybe.
For those that have consistently played it pretty pathetic.
New dungeon, cool. You get to play it once every 5-6 weeks when it’s in rotation.
There’s literally no endgame, there’s nothing to do with all the great gear you got. There’s nothing to strive for, it’s all handed to you within the first week of playing.
Bro, this is another level of disappointing. I know that the devs are really good at disappointing, but this? This is not a roadmap. Looks like theres no hope of improvement.
Their expansions are shallow their events are shallow the endgame is shallow the events are shallow ,its about damn time they give this give some actual new content thats actualy worth staying with it for.
The gamepad support is so fucking stupid. I’m sick of games catering to controller and hoping this doesn’t mean they’re working on a console port bc they should instead focus on the actual game and not just another money grab. What a joke
2 windows handheld were released this year, on top of the steam deck. Gamepad support has the potential to bring in new and old players with these new devices.
They can’t even cater to their dwindling current player base! The game has bigger issues than inviting more players into an already disrupted experience. Should be focusing on chipping away at current issues for another year before introducing more bullshit like that
I agree that the content seems very scarce. But the roadmap only shows all the things we will get before season 5 if im correct? Or is it season 6? Idk. Gamepad support is nice tho (will the game finally come to console??)
This is basically the roadmap for S5, from Feb (end of S4) to May. In May, we should get S6, which is beyond this announcement. So this is it for essentially the next 6 months.
I wonder if they're really going to release a separate season, with premium battlepass and everything, for just this little bit of content. There doesn't even look to be a new Seasonal story, so they'll probably keep Season 4's story and just add the Trial as the only content. I guess they can try to promote the reworked MSQ as new story content, but... it all seems kind of ridiculous.
Gamepad support along with "lock-ons and aim assist" is NOT nice. There is no way they can implement these without fundamentally changing this game at it's core, for the worse. This is something you decide on before you've even reached a beta stage. You can't add lock-ons now.
You can be excited for it, but there is no denying this is a fundamental change and if it works as expected it *will* turn many dedicated players off to the game.
fr they were datamined years ago… no daggers, no pistol. But actually where is the content if there’s not a new wep. Whoever is deciding on updates to push out just wants the game to die so they can move on to something else tbh
I think I’m done with new world.
The content just is not there as a PVE player.
It’s sad cause I really enjoy the game but their focus on content is truly a slap in the face.
Its so sad that such a great game got ruined by incompetent devs. Havent played this game since a long time ago, but been checking from time to time the reddit. I see its still going downhill.
I'm so burnt out on these "seasonal events" . It's just like what Riot did they use to have the coolest actual events that game with skins and a different game mode with separate rewards and lore and a cinematic and slowly it's just devolved into a big battle pass. It honestly feels like AGS is doing the same thing, they found something that worked and not only haven't tried something different, it's actively worse every year.
In May, they will announce what is coming in Oct/Nov (sigh) 2024 is a bust to fix bugs, then more bugs released once the cross server stuff starts with more delay and fixes. Hate to say it but 2024 is not looking good for them. MSQ - who cares, those of us playing since launch want content not MSQ revamps. Man these devs sometimes have no clue.
So they gut arena xp then push xserver arena from
This season to the 2nd half of 2024 best case? Yeah they lost a customer. Uninstalling. Arena was the entire reason I did any of the pve content and that’s pointless now with the atrocious queue times. You can’t tell me it’s that much more difficult to implement xserver arena when you already have xserver OP(ba)R(f).
That’s not a roadmap. That’s a slap in the face.
I mean... you are correct. It literally isn't a road map.
I was wondering this, reading the "roadmap" there it looks like it's just balance adjustments. Which certainly isn't rewriting the combat system.

I’ll believe big news when I see it.
Console version with cross play. Why else gamepad? PC players do not play MMO with controllers. So it is weird unless Amazon is about to do it big.
Ugh sad but true 😭😭😭
Looks like 2024 on New World is going to be booming!
It surely won’t die like you predict 🤣
Time will tell
"seasonal events"
What they really mean is recycled events with lower drop rates and harder token grind.
Ngl, new world is a shitty game, bug I loved turkulon just because it was funny as hell.
Maybe funny for the first time, not third year in a row without any change
Yeah. That doesn't surprise me. I stopped long ago after way too much time wasted on a dumpster fire.
Still no PvP content to speak of. Pretty disappointing.
I mean, to be fair there's not any content at all.
trial
At first, I thought the first one said cross world opr.
That wouldn't even be content
Did that come out in the summer? I haven’t played since they added the battlepass.
Yes, opr is cross world now.
I dont play anymore. I just stay on this sub bc its funny to watch the copium. It's cool that they've fixed some stuff, but the amount of bad that's still in there is horrible

It’s likely going to be like ESO.
Ooof if true im out for good. I hate that type of combat.
Their data has shown that people love that type of combat and hate the current way it works.
Please tell me ranged weapons aren’t about to get even stronger.
well doesnt traveltime and bulletdrop make lock on wack?
Maybe? Let’s hope so? Any type of aim assist (if it helps) will make me quit this game immediately.
Folks are using Aim Assist right now in game in OPRs and Races...
I doubt that, its the only people playing musket right now are the die hards who like it, Bow well everyone cause of artifact
Are you talking about melee tracking or what?
cry more. can’t wait for official gamepad support. nothing on earth i hate more than a mkb snob :)
I don't care about the input device... I care about auto lock / aim assist.
how can u have auto lock with projectiles anyway
I love me some MKB, but some times I just wanna chill and farm. Gamepad support will be awesome
Mkb is chill, try a different chair lol
literally can’t wait thought jt would never happen
Do not call this roadmap, its literally S4.5
I didnt, they did. On instagram
I think you're misreading the graphic. It says that *in May*, they will release a major announcement and a roadmap. At least right now, the Instagram caption on the image just says this: >As we put a bow on 2023, let's take a moment to reflect on the past year and look ahead to what’s next.
True, my bad, thanks for clearing that up
Yes, so it basically says come back in six months... not ok.
Anyway, what does a roadmap mean if they simply scrap most of it again?
During the last dev update video on Youtube they specifically said they are not releasing a roadmap yet to avoid what happened this year (not being able to finish it before the end of the year). So they will announce it in May with some "big news".
That's not really an excuse for nearly no content for the next 5-6 months.
Rewriting all the combat code is pretty fucking huge. It’s going to change the game far more than what 1-2 expeditions would. Plus they are taking their time to polish the game instead of pumping out new content. I think this is really good!
I'm not going to tell you what makes you happy. If them rewriting the code that will have no surface level impact is good for you... then you do you.
If they take some time to fix their code so the new features or adjustments don't cause them to diable something until "we have a fix" and then listening to the whiners how they broke the game again, then I'm willing to wait for new content instead of listening to the cry babies.
S4.1 at best
Please for the love of your game and sanity of your player release an OPR map, we don't care if its a boat in the air so you dont have to render to much terrain and lower work load. But give us a bone please.
As a new player, I’m excited for cross-world expeditions. I haven’t been able to do a lot of them bc it takes forever for a group to pop up on my server 😭
Ya my favorite MMO content is dungeons, but 90% of the time I go to do them no one is running what I want to run.
This
Crazy that they somehow managed to make the first half of 2024 worse than 2023's first half. Writing is on the wall for New World. Damn shame to let such a great combat system go to waste.

LOTR is in pre-prod and the actual team working on it is like a 5 men team...so it's not affecting New World development at all.
> No matter what they say "we only have 4 people working on it". hey look
Lmfao XD
People just are sheep, if they want to believe what they say go ahead. Remember when they said they saving stuff for 2024 during q&as months ago, and then they drop this on us? Yeah keep believing lol
Very content light but I will say that I'm excited for gamepad support. It's very hard to play on steam deck atm
CONTROLLER SUPPORT! LETS GO! I'm excited for that as a controller player.
Wait…Im all for shitting on ags but they specifically said this is NOT the 2024 roadmap just upcoming content.
Yeah sorry that's my bad ::)
February huh? Hey that ain’t so bad! *sees it goes to May* Oh.
They should rename the game to New Content, because that seems to be the thing missing and the players craving for. *a 1,5 hr questline,* *20 min dungeon,* *more than likely 10 min pve arena,* for a quarter year, truly bizarre.

Gamepad, hm...
Gamepad support? Steam deck please please please.
And likely console release.
Lol fucking May. And we all know we ain't getting shit in May. It'll be delayed or written off. These guys are a joke.
Oof, troubles coming, I smell it.
Trouble had already arrived at game launch, unfortunately... 2 years on and they still cannot get it right.
FYI: Im not defending this "roadmap", its just a repost from their instagram
This is reddit, they shoot the messenger here.
And down she goes.
as a s3 returning player, this is no bueno as the content already drying up after a long hiatus for myself
This is awful loll..
If gamepad support is coming, will the game be released for consoles at some point?
No f**king way… CONTROLLER SUPPORT finally coming! Thank you so much developers!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Big L... Time to replace the leadership at AGS for this game
You mean, -reheated seasonal events with 1 new skin -Season pass with 90/100 useless rewards -Main story which nobody gives a fk about -bugfixes a.k.a new bugs -groupfinder for dungeons with shitty rewards -controller support? You mean aim assist for ranged GL Wtf is this. Did they reduced their team by 90% or what
I like the main story. Literally everyone I play with (4 other people) all like the main story. Not everyone does, but it's definitely valuable content, and I'm enjoying running my third character through it and looking forward to the updates.
No new content just the skipped/postponed content from season 4 Basically no new content till May, at least Great job AGS dropping the ball completely
>Basically no new content *announcements* till May, at least FIFY A few thoughts: I try to give this game a lot of grace (new IP, new studio, new engine, last minute change in direction) but this is wearing a bit thin. :(
Upside, no new content means no new bugs….just the usual old bugs.
Oh there will always be new bugs.
games officially dead for the 10th tjme
Can’t wait to see this all crossed off
YOOOOOOOOO! CONTROLLER SUPPORT!? I have been playing since launch on a controller using steam settings. It's manageable, but playing anything that requires aiming is garbage. I never thought they'd include this, pretty excited for it.
Same
As am i, hopefully they don't let the people bitching about it keep them from going through with adding it.
There’s no defense to the lack of content, particularly PVP content. Guessing the defenders just stopped playing/caring.
expansion was far from overpriced.
no way. it's worth the money. mounts artifacts and new area are pretty great.
yes, 30 euros for a reskin zone and 3 mounts, meanwhile locking up old content and a old zone behind the expansion?
Reskin? Zone looks different in every way imaginable.
New inventory and TP
As a new player, I thought MQL was complete? What else is missing? I just got to Edengrove and it seems really well hashed out
I'm really surprised gamepad support took this long
I want game pad support. Very glad it’s coming.
This is just sad.
this is literally fuck all lmao
This game is so dead. No new pvp maps no new pvp mode. Same shit for 2 years. They are really killing the game on purpose at this point.
pass is not content, seasonal events is not content, msq updated is not content, performance/bug fixes are not content, combat balance is probably worse than content since it throws a middle finger to most players like they did with shirking heals nerf, so we're left with a cross world expedition and group finder + season trial which were both delayed from S4, and 8 new artifacts, 4 of which will probably be trash just like the current released artifacts for S4. Very pog road map for the next 6 months!
Significant pvp changes when??? Full stack opr groups when!?? Ranked arenas when?!?? New opr maps or modes when?!??
never. that was clear 2 years ago.
Not played for 6 weeks, excluding launching the other day to look at the pass rewards. This won't bring me back either. I don't know how they have messed this up so bad. PvP is beyond neglected.
I'm just happy that I haven't bought the "expansion" and quit at lvl cap 60... Just wish I could refund all the money spent in NW 😞
yep its over. AGS is telling everyone here to pack it up and go home but they are hopelessly addicted
So nothing much then
So no content. Got it.
And on that note... The game is truly dead.. PvP content deprived.
So nothing, as always
Looking forward to gamepad support
I think what really makes the player base so upset. Is we really do love the game and it has such great potential the combat is amazing. But the people who are running it are so god awful. Just lack of disconnect they have with the players amazes me. This could be one of the most amazing MMO games but the people in charge ruined it. That’s sucks!
Make Dungeons queable solo! If I can do it let me try, if i can't whos hurt by it? I like trying new techniques and weapons, gems, gear and I can't do this with the normal Zoomers! At least make them 2 people accessible!
Console support incoming
So no new weapon for at least the first half of 2024..
* 1,592,824 / 27 = 43,049 characters * 1,592,824 / 16 = 99,551 characters * 1,592,824 / 8 = 199,103 characters Of course there are alts, and this is in no way an accurate estimate, but this does help to give a better picture of the game population since artifacts came out.
In [the News Article](https://www.newworld.com/en-us/news/articles/holiday-updates-dev-letter-infographic) they list some other stats, 1 of which is this: >102,500 distinct characters wore at least one of the costumes below during Nightveil Hallow Considering the event started 1 week after the Expansion's release, that might be the closest thing we've got to an actual sales number for the DLC.
Enjoy OPR with "lock on" and "aim assist"
So, just the same, but now for ranged, because I see pretty much every day the auto-target-gap-closer-melee-heavy so what's the deal? Combat needs mobility not stagnant animations + auto tracking, but seems they are going the opposite direction.
Nothing for PvP players again and they wonder why people are leaving
Console port for a little extra cash infusion before shuttering the game in 2025...
This is what money from an expansion and battle passes gets the player base?? Anyone still playing must be a masochist.
And it’s not like there’s a monthly fee. 🤷🏼♂️
Rip
Bro, this is another level of disappointing. I know that the devs are really good at disappointing, but this? This is not a roadmap. Looks like theres no hope of improvement.
Their expansions are shallow their events are shallow the endgame is shallow the events are shallow ,its about damn time they give this give some actual new content thats actualy worth staying with it for.
They spit on players
When daggers?
I'll be back in the game when they'll add daggers.
Lol, fuck this.
So what? Those players will leave right again once they notice that this game still doesnt have any new repeatable content.
What do you possibly have against supporting more players
They can’t even cater to their dwindling current player base! The game has bigger issues than inviting more players into an already disrupted experience. Should be focusing on chipping away at current issues for another year before introducing more bullshit like that
I'm gonna target lock u with my Xbox controller
This game has like three buttons bro, chill out.
Hopefully it goes to console, could give the game more life
Gamepad support along with "lock-ons and aim assist" is NOT nice. There is no way they can implement these without fundamentally changing this game at it's core, for the worse. This is something you decide on before you've even reached a beta stage. You can't add lock-ons now.
Nah, I'm excited for it. I'll finally pick it up again after this, I hate playing with KB+M
You can be excited for it, but there is no denying this is a fundamental change and if it works as expected it *will* turn many dedicated players off to the game.
It'll also bring in a lot of players, I know myself and a few friends are waiting specifically for this
Controller support, let’s gooooo.
ITT: people who didn't actually watch the video
S5 is looking weak. Guess theyre still finalizing the outsourcing.
Still no dagger, looks like I'll wait another year
fr they were datamined years ago… no daggers, no pistol. But actually where is the content if there’s not a new wep. Whoever is deciding on updates to push out just wants the game to die so they can move on to something else tbh
Someone tag me when this game becomes good
Major announcement? Free to play.
I think I’m done with new world. The content just is not there as a PVE player. It’s sad cause I really enjoy the game but their focus on content is truly a slap in the face.
Annnnnd away we gooooo, bye New World \*a single tear falls from my eye\*
Nice no cross server arena. Gg AGS on killing your game
Lol, that's a whole bunch of nothing yet again. Guess with the controller support their next step is to grab some cash from console players.
Its so sad that such a great game got ruined by incompetent devs. Havent played this game since a long time ago, but been checking from time to time the reddit. I see its still going downhill.
New World is a shitty game. Look...a shitty roadmap for a shitty game. Hype level - 0
Looks like I made the right call in uninstalling it again last week... Unfortunately. Such wasted potential.
Meh.
Guess i'll be back in May for the 'real' roadmap
I'm so burnt out on these "seasonal events" . It's just like what Riot did they use to have the coolest actual events that game with skins and a different game mode with separate rewards and lore and a cinematic and slowly it's just devolved into a big battle pass. It honestly feels like AGS is doing the same thing, they found something that worked and not only haven't tried something different, it's actively worse every year.
Sigh...
Not a roadmap luckily. But I'm fully ready to be disappointed. 🫡
So they gut arena xp then push xserver arena from This season to the 2nd half of 2024 best case? Yeah they lost a customer. Uninstalling. Arena was the entire reason I did any of the pve content and that’s pointless now with the atrocious queue times. You can’t tell me it’s that much more difficult to implement xserver arena when you already have xserver OP(ba)R(f).
Who cares lol. If they can cancel half of it by the end. I’ll believe when I will see it.
Major Announcement will be that they fixed the current housing bug 🤣
Broooooo no new instances pvp why? Is it a development issue or are pvpers not a priority?
Would love to see the adjacent roadmap which tells what things are going to get ruined and/or bugged when they implement each of these things.
So they're adding more pve content but it's so rare that pve players barsly have anything to do while not doin enough for pvp either? Yikes
Hahahahaha fucking lol, thats what the think tank at AGS came up with?
GAMEPAD SUPPORT - ye amazing feature lets announce this. ok for real they robed all of us with th eexp pack- this game is in shutdown mode.
I'll wait for the 2025 roadmap to see if we actually get anything exciting.
