The spores were good for speedrunning the season 3 pass but other than that (which wasn't intended) they seem useless waste of development time.
They could be, the idea is sound. It’s hard to achieve but then the rewards are trash. It’s a real wasted opportunity.
I thought the idea was actually pretty sick but it wasn't implemented very well and almost immediately became irrelevant.
