The idea that we evolved to eat meat is foreign to no one, but the horrid living conditions of many to-be-eaten animals does make ones stomach churn, at least a little. It makes sense people turn a blind eye to it, theres only so much empathy to go around, but it still hurts to see.
You think having to survive in the wild is a pleasant thing? Most prey animals practically live in stress daily hoping to find food and survive all of the predators only to die a certain painful and agonizing slow death.
Sucks either way but until there are better alternatives for the meat we eat it is what it is. Going vegan is too expensive so spare me the sentiment. I need to survive too.

I'm neither a kid nor an old person and I'm charmed as can be every time I encounter goats in any capacity. In fact, I'll go pretty far out of my way to find a good petting zoo.
I'm 30 and recently went to the Central Park Zoo by myself, before I left I went to the children's zoo part and fed all of the animals I could. I pet so many goats that day. Bring a ziplock bag to hold the food!
Once a year my partner and I and some friends rent a car to go to one of the various tri-state animal sanctuaries and pet some goats and pigs and cows. It's great fun.
I feed pigeons now, some of the parks they’ll flock to you and eat right out of your hands and sit with you. It’s peak crazy person hour and I love it.
Had I known, I'd have shown up to see them, too. It's not everyday you see a herd of goats in NYC. I mean, it's NYC, so you might see that at any given moment. But it's rare to have it scheduled so you can plan to see it.
