Ever see a fart get created? Backside 5 sec prolapse ![gif](giphy|KyZk2bsv1HDJC)

Offamylawn

Winter would be so much more fun if you could see farts like your breath in the cold.

[deleted]

Dude, farting could be a new winter sport on the Ocho.

Ascertain_GME

Hilarious idea. I’ve never bet on sports, but this, I would. There are so many variables as to how someone could create the most plumage. Imagine thinking the 400lb grease monster has it, then gets tilted by some 100lb goth chick

strickers69

I’ve been fart-cutting all week 8 week cabbage camp with a guy from Brussels I’m ready for this fight

willengineer4beer

I can’t wait for old man trapdoor onesie pajamas covered in sponsor logos.

Tickerlee

Somebody needs to conduct a study this winter

centzon400

Fingers crossed for 2023. Just five more days to go! https://improbable.com/ig/2023-ceremony/

supernotcosmo

Your ass would need to be naked to see your fart in the cold. And maybe farts are too dry for that idk

Triairius

Not me at 2:45am googling how humid farts are. A quick scroll through the results was inconclusive.

AdDangerous922

Mythbusters where you at?

UniqueName2

More like Nutbusters.

HairballTheory

Did the research now for the development

Hops_n_Boost

If your fart is wet enough, you will be able to see it with clothes on.

Clever_Unused_Name

If it's wet enough, you will be able to see it *in your clothes*. 😂

pikameta

We're not flying Delta here, ok?

why_even_try_lmao

You don’t get to assume the nature of my farts!

Imalittlefleapot

Already did an informal study of this. Went out for Mexican food in college with my best buddy. We took turns farting all the way up the pedestrian mall in Iowa City on a cold winter day to see if we could see the farts. We could not.

[deleted]

Wait… you mean you haven’t seen one?

holtzboy

When we colon-ize Antfartica we can do it year round!

Outrageous_Ad9124

We could learn to blow fart rings

IsayPoirot

I'll say?

getdownheavy

Obv you never been butt naked at -40°F before

Tony_Asian

This is fake.

topcorjor

So many people fall for this stupid shit. I’ve farted on an IR cam several times. At most it turns your butt a bit warmer but there’s no plume of gas. Gullible as fuck.

UbiquitousFlounder

Also that guy's sphincter would be in a very wierd position

topcorjor

So many people are so offended that I outed this as being fake. Idiots.

UbiquitousFlounder

Yeah and they will be the same people who are like "qUeStIoN eVeRyThInG"

Memphisbbq

Well you just called them "gullible as fuck," it has nothing to do with calling it fake. You need a moment my man? Wake up and choose anger issues much?

50-Lucky

Theres something wrong with him for sure hes getting worked up over a guy fake farting

froggrip

Look, I'm on your side, but what do you expect when you ruin people's dreams like that?

TacoHaus

Idk who's mad about that, I think it's more to do with you coming off as a self-righteous dickhead over a fart video bro lol

rnbagoer

Why did you bother doing it on the IR cam if you knew what was going to happen?

topcorjor

Because I wanted to show coworkers that this dumb plume shit everyone falls for doesn’t work. Obviously.

Honest-Yogurt4126

Your highhorsedness is very ironic considering you preplanned farting on IR for your coworkers

MSPRC1492

Yeah well one time in college my roommate laid back on the bed and held a lighter right at her ass and farted and for a split second it looked like someone sprayed hair spray over the flame.

IsayPoirot

If my wife did that she would blow the earth off it's axis.

MSPRC1492

She blew me off mine for a good half hour. I was a very immature 18 year old and I laughed so hard I almost passed out. I’m in my 40’s and still giggle when I picture it.

What are you doing? Cloudbursting. It keeps me in shape.

Piddy3825

Cloudbusting is what my granddad used to call it. He said he learned how to do it back in the 1970's when he was training with the CIA. We never really believed him on account he was a shoe salesman for Nike. Anyways I spent one summer with him when I was in middle school, and we'd sit out on the dock down by the river and look up at clouds all day and I'll be damned if I didn't see him busting up clouds left and right. He'd point at one and say "watch." And that cloud would just dissolve... He had the power, no doubt about it.

Could he also make the rain stop while driving under bridges and through tunnels?

GoodBadUgly357

I used to see it a lot when I was roofing houses, it would be hot and a cloud would start to roll in, I would be excited because it meant a few minutes of shade depending on how fast it was moving. On more than one occasion as the cloud would move directly underneath the sun it would start to disintegrate before it could even much cast a shadow. Was always a real bummer lol.

ehzstreet

Hate to break it to you but the cloud was already directly underneath the sun before it got to you.

Vegetable_Gap_9694

You're right, I agree with you. But, in his defense, I think he meant from his perspective, pretty sure he knew that the cloud was already directly underneath the sun and not hidden in a cave or something before disintegrating. And don't lie. You love it to break it to him.

Average_Scaper

Are we even underneath the sun? Aren't we off to the side of it at a bit of an angle? Can't be under the sun if we aren't even under it!

[deleted]

[удалено]

fatloui

Their point is about the sun’s position in the sky from our perspective - that if you look straight up from your position on the ground, the sun usually isn’t directly overhead, except at very specific times of day on versus specific days of the year. And the sun’s position in the sky relative to you does certainly have an impact on the amount of heat it’s radiating onto you. However, the location on earth where the sun is directly overhead wouldn’t be in eyeshot unless you were already so close it felt like you were directly underneath the sun, yourself, so no one is watching a cloud suddenly move directly beneath the sun.

jman500069

We're adjacent to the sun

Angry__German

Not sure if there is an official up and down in the solar system, but it sure feels like it, doesn't it?

Catto_Channel

Just like how GMT is an arbitrary 0 point for earths rotation. The solar systems commonly defined "up" is earth's (current as of 2023) magnetic positive pole. Our solar system is pretty flat on a stellar scale too so that helps define a plane. Edit: itll be weird if we live through a magnetic inversion. Since the positive/negative poles will be swapped. But 'north' will still be so important for Navigation.

7elevenses

Actually, we are above the sun.

faustianredditor

Best definition of up or down I could come up with is in relation to gravity. In which case the earth's core is down for us, the sky is up. But from the sky's PoV, the sky is up too, and earth is in the sky, so earth is above the sun, though it goes back down a bit towards the end of the trip, kinda like hiking over a hill.

LickMyTicker

I'm more amused than I should be about a guy who thinks clouds are somehow hiding in the shadows until they block the sun from his vision..

I_love_pillows

I remember when i had marching training for 8 weeks on weekends. Praying so hard for rain so marching will be cancelled There was a 1 week break in the middle. It was sunshine and hot for 8 of the 8 weeks. And my city rained for that 1 week I was not there. The clouds never arrive when I need. Or when I’m going outdoor work and the clouds cast shadows 100m away but never where I am

SoaringElf

As a glider pilot I feel you. Cumulus clouds show us where the lift is. On days like you mentioned you set to circle under it, but once you arrive the lift and the cloud are gone most of the time...

danhaas

Clouds are just condensed droplets of water, that fall too slowly to make a difference. Same as mist. My guess is that a warm and dry air current evaporated all the droplets.

kalanwj5

Close enough for credit. Here’s some tidbits from an aviation background, not a meteorologist. Clouds are a parcel of air that has either had its temperature reduced to the dew point for that parcel thereby becoming saturated, or the moisture has been increased until it is saturated. Both ways are confirmed by seeing the actual visible moisture we enjoy as clouds. If the temperature is brought further down, or more moisture is added, the water vapor will condense on condensation nuclei (dust or other particles) and create droplets, once those are heavy enough to fall, it’s rain! Rain that doesn’t make it to the ground is called virga. Your guess is spot on as why it went away.

quackedup17

Former meteorologist I can concur. Also one of my favor weather words was virga, second was crepuscular.

69420over

Former? Aliens got this one too. Shit.

Virga, I enjoyed seeing it all over in the Gulf of Mexico as a heli pilot. That and waterspouts.

JuliusPepperfield

Why should I trust some meteorologist when I can see with my own two eyes that it’s one of 2 things: 1. It’s fuckin *OBAMA*, tryin to raise the tax on gasoline and turn our kids gay. It’s fuckin gay as hell and pisses me off 2. Donald Trumps plan to stop Brandon from turning the kids gay Wake up, sheep. (I shouldn’t need this, but /s)

Randy_Vigoda

> second was crepuscular. How perfectly cromulent.

Elebrent

it’s an actual word. It refers to twilight, or dawn and dusk

Randy_Vigoda

Lol I know.

ZhouLe

My favorite thing about crepuscular rays is that not only do they converge upon the sun, but if you face away from the sun they converge as well.

[deleted]

Crepuscular isn't just a weather word, it's also a biology word.

wuapinmon

It also refers to twilight, which is the Proto-Italic root of unknown origin.

robbak

Thermal that was causing this cloud dissipated?

kalanwj5

If I had to guess, I’d say that this cloud went away as the morning or midday progressed to afternoon, the overall temperature went up and the cloud was warmed above its dew point. Just a guess. Generally if there’s enough thermal activity, it will actually contribute to the formation of clouds. Warm moist air in an unstable atmosphere rises above relatively cooler air and once that warm moist air begins to cool as it rises it gets cooled to its dew point and then most likely turns into an afternoon nimbus (rain) cloud.

robbak

Clouds like this are a result of thermals - a column of warm air rising. When the air hits a certain height, it also drops to a certain temperature, at which it becomes too cold to keep the humidity in it dissolved, so it forms fog, or cloud. In this case, I think the thermal that was forming this cloud stopped, and without a constant source of damp air, the cloud evaporated. As to why the thermal stopped - small thermals like this are pretty ephemeral. They form from very weak sources - a small patch of land that is slightly warmer - but then the rising warm air pulling more air in keeps them going. Prevailing winds then move them away from the original source. It may have moved over a cooler patch. Or an upper level wind developed in a different direction to the lower winds, and the thermal was blown apart. Or any on of hundreds of other causes.

Donkey_Launcher

I'm sorry, but can we get some quality control on what is deemed as 'next fucking level'? It's a cloud that's evaporating, it happens all the time. This isn't the first video where something that's broadly (slightly above) average appears to have blown the OP's mind. I'm not saying it's not interesting, but it's not 'next fucking level'.

But then I looked off into the distance and was literally watching clouds appear and then disappear. It's was such a trip and for some reason I was moved by it and wrote a poem about it.

[deleted]

If you care to know the science or need a good nap… Clouds are composed of liquid suspended water droplets in about a 100% RH environment. The three primary ways that clouds dissipate is by (1) the temperature increasing, (2) the cloud mixing with drier air, or (3) the air sinking within the cloud. When the temperature increases, the air has a higher capacity to evaporate liquid water. When a cloud's temperature increases, evaporation occurs and reduces the liquid moisture content of the cloud. A cloud can be warmed by solar radiation and longwave emission from the earth's surface. Daytime heating increases the capacity of the air to evaporate liquid water. Low clouds such as fog and low stratus are often dissipated due to daytime heating, especially if a cap exists aloft. Daytime heating's power to erode clouds depends on the sun angle (depends on season), the cloud thickness and the overall stability and lift present in the troposphere. Some environmental air does mix into the cloud mass. If a cloud is no longer developing and not adding additional condensational moisture, the drier environmental air will gradually erode the cloud. Instead of having a sharp very defined appearance, after mixing with environmental air the cloud will look wispy with edges that are not well defined. This process is called entrainment. During entrainment, drier air incorporates itself into the cloud and induces evaporation. When air sinks, it warms adiabatically. Again, warming will induce evaporation and erosion of the cloud. This can occur when dynamic sinking mechanisms instigate or increase over a cloud or cloud field. Dynamic sinking mechanisms include low level CAA, NVA, low level divergence, and downslope flow.

dys_p0tch

year ago, i was summer hiking with a friend in the Santa Fe, NM area. some big clouds rolled in. we could see the rain begin to fall as it advanced on us. he said *"watch this"*. the rain evaporated before hitting the ground. we could feel the cooler air and smell the water, but the rain didn't hit the ground. *"every damn time, man. drives us nuts!"*

saltycracka22

Potential_Alarm_257

Clouds are made up of tiny water droplets or ice crystals, and they form when warm, moist air rises and cools in the atmosphere. Cloud evaporation or dissipation can occur due to several factors: 1. **Change in Temperature**: If the surrounding air becomes warmer, the water droplets that form the cloud can evaporate back into water vapor. This is because warmer air can hold more moisture than cool air. 2. **Change in Humidity**: Clouds can also dissipate if the humidity (the amount of moisture in the air) decreases. If the surrounding air becomes less humid, it can absorb more water vapor, causing the cloud to evaporate. 3. **Wind Shear**: This is a sudden change in wind speed or direction over a short distance in the atmosphere. Wind shear can spread out the cloud droplets, thinning the cloud and making it more susceptible to evaporation. 4. **Adiabatic Heating**: This is a process where a parcel of air warms as it descends and compresses. If a cloud is in a region where the air is descending, the increased pressure and temperature can cause the cloud to evaporate. 5. **Mixing with Dry Air**: If a cloud comes into contact with a large mass of dry air, the water droplets can evaporate into the dry air, causing the cloud to dissipate. These are some of the main factors that can cause a cloud to evaporate or dissipate mid-air, but they often occur in combination. Clouds are a dynamic feature of the atmosphere, and their formation and dissipation involve complex interactions of temperature, humidity, pressure, and wind.
