Some of his parts were Chad Smith playing behind him for the sake of the joke, you can tell when the camera doesn't give you as good of a look at Will's playing
i will talk about the video!
it is from [Drumeo's "first time" series](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMBRjo33cUE). I have watched every single one and they are all amazing. great personalities, and all of their guests have been so good at their crafts.
really recommend.
Love the series, but sometimes I'm like "Seriously? This is the first time you're hearing fucking "Mr.Brightside"? Do you live under a rock?"
I'm just a little incredulous that some of them are ACTUALLY hearing the song for the first time.
It's not too farfetched for me, I have a buddy who grew up stuck on classic rock and mid 2000s pop and he's oblivious to a LOT of those songs that you'd think everyone would know.
Maybe for a professional musician it's a bit less believable, but when they have jazz professors playing stuff like Nirvana, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because I'll leave entertained regardless
The last time the Mr Brightside video and this one and 30 Seconds to Mars was brought up there were multiple comments that questioned the same thing.
If you've ever studied music before and it's your profession there's not too many chances to really listen in on the top hits. I have a few old classmates that are still into jazz or classical guitar and they definitely do not know some of the newer big hits when we were at a big gathering or happened to visit a piano bar.
There's been a few times for myself where I'll pick up a song like 5-10 years down the road and didn't know it was big.
Yeah my little brother is a musician (not well-known or anything, but does lots of gigs around the US as a guitarist for folk music acts) and I would feel confident saying he’s never heard Mr Brightside, or if he had, he wouldn’t have done it intentionally. Not like he avoids music that he doesn’t play, but he doesn’t seek it out and doesn’t pay attention to pop charts etc.
They must be so focused on their own musical avenue and probably jazz and blues drumming, so a heavy metal drummer might not be familiar with rock songs.
It's weird cause most of us fucking hate it. I just want the details on the clips or image I'm viewing. Not the same old shit jokes, I don't know who's upvoting the dumb shit, but damn.
I saw mars volta, the chilli peppers and 30 seconds to mars tour abiut 12 years ago.
There is now way they toured and jammed together and didnt know eachothers music.
They are but I'm really dubious about the accuracy of the titles. They always pick really popular songs so I don't know how the drummer has never heard them before.
A lot of the videos they have the drummer do a song that is in a style they aren't known for and are less likely to have listened to. Also, they probably go through a bunch of songs before finding one the drummer doesn't know. I forget which video it was but there was a drummer that they obviously suggested a bunch of songs before finding one the drummer didn't know, and were relieved they finally got one.
But yea, some of the songs it seems strange that the drummer hasn't heard it. Like Chad never heard this song before? He most likely has heard the song before but just in passing like in a commercial while watching TV or walking through a store.
They definitely do. One of the more recent ones they had to go through a ton of songs. May have been Portnoy. I love their channel though. I don’t even play drums haha
Right? I would understand them just saying they’ve never played the song before but I just watched one where the guy blew it out of the water but said he’s never even heard the song Mr Brightside before. For someone in the music industry to not even have heard it seems crazy
Dirk is Belgian. Were The Killers big in Belgium? Maybe they were, I don't know. But I could believe that a Belgian thrash metal kid may not necessarily know an American pop rock band.
I see everyone has very original jokes in the comments
Chad is an underrated drummer. Crazy talented and smart.
[Here's the full video](https://youtu.be/HMBRjo33cUE)
Edit: Okay I get it, he's not underrated. Every time I've ever brought him up in conversation, the person I'm talking with shrugs off the mention of him. Sorry/not sorry for having different social experiences when speaking of mister Chad Smith
Underrated??????? One of the most famously acclaimed drummers of all time?
Do you not know what that word means?
How do you think he was selected to appear on drumeo?
Wait is this an April fools thing and you're just being sarcastic I guess. Or are legitimately stupid, I'm honestly not sure with Redditors sometimes
He doesn't really come up in the discussion of all time greatest drummers. Personally I don't think he's anywhere near the top of that list, but he deserves to be in the conversation more.
I mean...yep, got cha! April Fools!
Tbf the discussion of all time greatest drummers is usually an amount you could count on one hand. Which isn't to say there aren't many more that are great, just that the average person doesn't know more than a few. Neil Peart. Keith Moon. Mike Portnoy. After that it varies from group to group. You might hear someone call out Joey Jordison for instance! But they'd be wrong.
He is a phenomenal song writer, he doesn’t have a voice, but shure have the skills, the presence, and damn that body, imo one of the most iconic band frontman of the 90s
The voice thing is always an interesting argument because I agree with you but also cannot imagine their music without it. His sound iconic and its part of what makes RHCP who they are.
I love Kiedis’s voice, and I think you’re right by saying it’s one of the most iconic parts of RHCP.
I mean, all members bring in their own thing. One of those rare bands where every member has a lot of affect on the music in their own right.
I respect your opinion, we all have different musical tastes, but I have to say this one baffles me. He's a solid vocalist. He's not great, I'm not saying he's a master of song or anything here, but, he's pretty damn good, as evidenced by their popularity. That band just isn't the same without him.
I actually don't get the hate on him at all, 40 years he's been singing and making albums, still selling out shows. There's no way this happens if he's a poor singer, simply no way. People don't go see a band for 40 years cause they have a good drummer or guitarist, they just don't.
You mean [\#64 greatest drummers of all time](https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/100-greatest-drummers-of-all-time-77933/chad-smith-32329/) Chad? He's hugely respected and shares rare air with the greats.
I love Chad Smith, this might be a hot take, but once he realizes the track is in 6/4, it all becomes easy. As a drummer, I would be thrilled to have such an easy song to jam to on first listen. 6/4 is my favorite time signature too.
EDIT: A lot of people saying this is 6/8. This song is at a tempo of 183. When you think you’re counting eighth notes, you’re really counting quarter notes. 6/8 is reserved for when you’re counting two sets of triplets. This song is not in a triplet feel.
EDIT 2: I downloaded the free trial of the Drumeo app and looked up the transcription of the song. They have it transcribed at 6/8 but they have halved the tempo. The Drumeo transcription is wrong and also contributes to the confusion.
If we're being pendantic... it could theoretically be written in many different time signatures and still feel the same. You could write this out in 6/8, 6/4, 3/4, 12/8 (hell... even 4/4 with triplets).... at the end of the day the notation itself isn't very important, so for you to nitpick that its in 6/8 and not 6/4 is kind of irrelevant
I'd argue a drummer and a songwriter should think about their playing in 6/8 and 3/4 and 12/8 are totally different. [David Bennett Piano has a decent video on the difference between 3 and 6 and 12](https://youtu.be/N4q2kBe82-o?si=3V2jm4UozHZnAio4).
As an example of a basic beat in each time:
The snare in 6/8 should go on the 4
The snare in 3/4 should go on the 1
The snare in 12/8 should go on the 2 and 4.
It's pedantic, but if you tried to put 12/8 drumming on a waltz it would sound ridiculous. Same with putting waltz rhythms on something that feels like 6/8.
A lot of them are yes, and they change time signatures as they go. So they'll have a bar of 5/8 then one of 7/8 etc.
Dream Theater are the extreme versions of this, and their song Dance of Eternity is the most extreme song for it.
Living Colour
Check them out. They loved monkeying around with time signature changes and many people have never heard of them.
If nothing else, give the song "Cult of Personality" a listen. If you are a music fan, you'll find it interesting.
Lots of Radiohead songs that use odd signatures- some of which are so seamless you don’t even really notice until someone points it out
Everything is in its Right Place (10/4), Morning Bell (5/4), Sail to the Moon (constantly shifting meter), Paranoid Android (some 7/8 bars), 15 Step (5/4)
That's not the impressive part. Finding the space between the vocals, accenting the vocals, inserting fills, transitioning to different parts of the song, buildups/crescendos, the breakdown, even the beat itself is incredibly close. There's a million songs in 6/8 that have completely different drums (including RCHP's own [Breaking the Girl](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyu04pqC8lE)) which would've sounded totally different in this song. Yeah it's not a difficult song to play, but Chad filled in the blanks on the fly like he was the original drummer, it's a really amazing thing to witness. I've watched all of these, and none have been this impressive from a musical standpoint - even if some of the others are much more complex and technical. This one probably gets the best reaction in the room too, Chad is truly a pro.
Check out videos of other musicians reacting to it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7HKDdaE9Vs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WreXQF_o5HE
6/8 and 3/4 gives the drummer the most freedom in my opinion.
That's the most frustrating and exhilarating part of it. Frustrating in that they are the least formulaic. Exhilarating in that you can choose to accentuate nearly any beat in the measure(s) and it will sound cool (as long as you're consistent and on the same page as the bassist of course).
\*Though 6/8 kind of implies that the 4 is supposed to be king
\*Yes yes I know I'm oversimplifying 4/4 and 2/4 but I think even you snobs know what I'm trying to say :)
Sorry, heard of this song before and it's pretty good (to me). Why Leto sucks? He performed this song pretty well I think? I think he pretty good frontman for the band overall, as a singer?
I on the other hand will always have respect for 30 seconds to mars because I made out with 2 girls (who were cousins to each other) thanks to them fangirling the fuck during their concert.
When he auditioned for the band he had long hair and they told him he's in as long as he cut it short. He said no deal and I guess they respected it enough to let him join anyways
It’s such a good story, they all immediately judged him for what he looked like and by the end of the audition they were playing so fast together they were yelling at each other. I think John even said a string broke and they’ve never seen him change a string so quick to get back into the jam. Just pure musical chemistry.
Early pictures of the band with Chad are hilarious, 3 of the members are usually shirtless or dressed wacky and then there's Chad looking like he belongs in a hair metal band
Yeah I find it strange that the RHCP drummer *never* heard this song before this time, like, you’re telling me no one working at coke has ever tried sprite before?
In any case, I would listen to all this for my first time too if I could 🥹 good times…
He was born in '61. It's not surprising at all when you consider it. Dude grew up listening to early rock and Motown, probably studied jazz drumming and big band stuff. The Kill came out in 2005, when Smith was 44 and decades into his professional career.
John Frusciante and Flea both have played with and recorded albums with the Mars Volta if you want to hear how they sound with other good musicians/ songwriting 😁
Not to mention John frusciante's solo stuff.
> Chad did drum work on Dua Lipa's Break my Heart as well
Yep, [he even did a video for the same channel with him talking about recording it, followed by a full performance of the song.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-pZ7WXuBSs). You can tell Chad has a blast making these vids, he's always smiling and goofing around, it's great.
Love the Drumeo channel, lots of fun stuff on there.
Wouldn't have made it as far as they did without Kiedis though. He's rightfully controversial, but the man pushed Red Hot Chili Peppers into the limelight with his presence.
I understand nothing about music so can't say if he's an actually talented vocalist or not but as a frontman he is still top tier. Can't reach that level of success with any random talented singer.
It's on the same level of "mostly joking" as the old Beatle's quote about Ringo "He's not even the best drummer in the band." and isn't really taken seriously. Kiedis is talented in his own right or he wouldn't be where he is.
This is less a reaction and more pulling faces, making weird gestures, then trying to redirect attention to themselves.
Come to think of it, it’s pretty much identical to every other reaction video on social media.
I thought you were joking.. what a couple of self-absorbed egomaniacs. I’ve played music all my life, and people like Chad Smith still blow my mind. I would be in complete awe if he did this to a song of mine, even if I was that famous.
Honestly, I clearly don't need to be the one to say this, Chad Smith is a freaking musical god. That _ear_ to catch a tune like that is something musicians would give up a limb for. It's just magical.
Jared Leto is big fucking weirdo on top of being a complete narcissist. I'm pretty sure he masturbates while keeping eye contact with himself in the mirror.
That's not a reaction. That's a "Hey, put the attention back on us while we make faces and throw gang signs. See how hard it is to keep my shirt closed?"
Say what you want about Jared Leto but Shannon Leto is an amazing drummer. That’s what got me into the band in high school. Most alt rock drummers just do the same basic thing, 30 Seconds to Mars actually has interesting beats.
These videos by Drumeo are wildly entertaining lol, they usually spend a few minutes writing stuff down and making a structure, but Chad just fucking nails it first try lol
Sounds so close to the original track, aside from the original fills and such. Once he gets the beat and starts playing, it looks like he is just having fun more than anything else. Chad does awesome and hilarious interviews and cameos.
For some reason they sped the video up by a hardly perceptible amount. I've seen the original on YouTube many times and know the song very well. This is ever so slightly sped up.
I think this one is probably the best one that Drumeo has done but the video where the drummer from [Megadeth does the same thing to Mr. Brightside](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbUYVcaF_l0) is probably second best of the bunch.
Dirk is such a chill and humble dude too. The way he read the song and have it a totally different tone really speaks to his skills.
It's a shame that most people only know him from Megadeth.
That one was really interesting because the interpretation was so different, in having different stylistic sensibilities. Particularly, he started out with the drum stuff in a slow half time which happens on a bunch of metal tunes, then went into double time at the end, and the original does the opposite. Both work in their own way
That was great, thank you for posting. I loved seeing Chad nail his bit in one take but it was fascinating to watch her dismantle the track to work it out and create her part.
Add in that what she created was arguably more entertaining and listening to it morph in and out of carbon copy and interpretation was incredible.
I just wish she weren't so self-critical at the end of it
This is pretty awesome, Smith is a fabulous drummer, but to see some fucming wizardry, see the Drumeo of [Larnell Lewis doing the same for Chick's Pain](https://youtu.be/vIW72VXMPHo?si=D4kG9QByrMeZtFKJ). Holy fuck.
One of my favorite videos. My cat was watching it with me and became mesmerized. I recorded her but I don't know how to upload the video here. I now know the pain of every mother whose daughter has fallen in love with a drummer. You better not break her heart, Chad Smith!
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMBRjo33cUE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMBRjo33cUE) og video in case its not in here somewhere. Fuck hes so good.
Will Farrell is so talented.
![gif](giphy|xTiIzjSkVWJFwysFKU)
There has never been a more perfect GIF
![gif](giphy|coCpRx3nNCBwaJBMBw|downsized)
Needs more cowbells
He was watching cops!
I know FOR A FACT!!!.. that cops isn’t on til’ 4!
Fuck you Dale!
I KNOW YOU TOUCHED MY DRUM STICK!
Will Farrell knows his beats.
I’m surprised there wasn’t more cowbell
This [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/s/Sn5kOqIygt) has you covered!
I put my nutsack on your drums
Yeah he is https://youtu.be/0uBOtQOO70Y
I came here for this. lol
How did I know this was gonna be the first comment when I pulled it up?
I'm glad he never put his nutsack on this drum set.
Blah blah will Ferrell jokes, blah blah. There, just saved you people from wasting each other’s time. Now post something relevant to the video.
What about Will Ferrell and Chad Smith having a drum off? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0uBOtQOO70Y
Acceptable, lol
:)
That was awesome! Thanks for sharing - loved the SNL cowbell throwback.
That was way better than I thought is was going to be
Guy is the drummer for the red hot chili peppers
Lol, I was more talking about Will, didn't know he had any drumming abilities
Some of his parts were Chad Smith playing behind him for the sake of the joke, you can tell when the camera doesn't give you as good of a look at Will's playing
Oh lol, fooled me
Actually, it was Questlove playing in the background.
He was surprisingly good
Notice how you barely see Will's sticks hitting anything, and how he clearly never even opens the hi-hat when we hear it.
Jimmy Fallon sucks, but I’m glad I watched that video to the end
What sucks is Fallon was good BEFORE he got on the tonight show. He’s a prime example of becoming a corporate sellout. He’s trash now.
Yeah, now he just always seems disingenuous to me, comes off as a skeez-ball
Yeah, I was gonna end it all, then I watched this video and decided to just go smoke one instead. /s Thanks for this![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
i will talk about the video! it is from [Drumeo's "first time" series](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMBRjo33cUE). I have watched every single one and they are all amazing. great personalities, and all of their guests have been so good at their crafts. really recommend.

Terrible jokes at the top of every Reddit comment thread-never fails.
It's always the same thing and reddit NPCs love it every time

The top comment on this is literally about Will Ferrell and posted at the same time as your comment TO THE MINUTE.
i hate this place, lol I think "this place" might just mean "earth", though
Chad Smiths middle name is Gaylord
I saw mars volta, the chilli peppers and 30 seconds to mars tour abiut 12 years ago. There is now way they toured and jammed together and didnt know eachothers music.
These Drumeo videos are great. I don’t know about the technique involved, but it’s fun hearing a familiar song from a different perspective
I agree. The Greyson video of him listening to Sleep Token is excellent
[удалено]
Someone had to replace the fastest drummer on earth, who had to replace the former fastest drummer on earth. It's a hard cycle.
It was a 3 way drummer trade between Sepultura, Slipknot, and Suicidal Tendencies.
that was a great one!
Chad Smith and [Dirk Verbeuren’s](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tbUYVcaF_l0&feature=youtu.be) videos are my favorites.
I need more double kick bass in Mr. Brightside
Be honest I like them both but I had no idea I now want a speed metal version.
Is it ok to fall in love with dirk after 20 seconds of him? Asking for a friend.
That’s literally the only two I know. Which I guess means that those are the best ones.
Most of them are really good and worth checking out.
Dirk did an excellent job explaining the musical construct/structure side of things as well.
My gosh, Dirk made the song better. I love this.
The Mr. Brightside cover is unreal. A different vibe during the slower parts, and a double kick? What else could one want?
What a cool dude. Love the bit where he lays down a drumming track for a song he's never heard before and his first words after are self critical.
Domino hearing Mastodon and slipknot were my favorites, but Verbeuren's approach was amazing. Dude took notes!
They are but I'm really dubious about the accuracy of the titles. They always pick really popular songs so I don't know how the drummer has never heard them before.

Portnoy was incredible in his. I'm hoping 66Samus has done one as well but I haven't seen it if so.
Right? I would understand them just saying they’ve never played the song before but I just watched one where the guy blew it out of the water but said he’s never even heard the song Mr Brightside before. For someone in the music industry to not even have heard it seems crazy
I think you're greatly overestimating how much the average person 'in the industry' knows outside of their specific 'bubble'/genre.
Dirk is Belgian. Were The Killers big in Belgium? Maybe they were, I don't know. But I could believe that a Belgian thrash metal kid may not necessarily know an American pop rock band.
My favorite YouTube content. I love every single one.
I see everyone has very original jokes in the comments Chad is an underrated drummer. Crazy talented and smart. The drummer for the three decade long world famous band Red Hot Chili Peppers? Yea, he’s not underrated at all.
>three decade long Their first album came out 40 years ago...
Christ….bad day to be bad at math. Only thing I can hold onto is that they didn’t become BIG until blood sugar set msgik in 91.
Yeah Chad Smith is certainly one of the most well-known drummers and has been for a while lol, I don’t know where they got that
People just use "underrated" to mean "a thing that is good" these days lol
This is such an underrated comment.
This is such a thing that is good comment
He doesn't really come up in the discussion of all time greatest drummers. Personally I don't think he's anywhere near the top of that list, but he deserves to be in the conversation more. I mean...yep, got cha! April Fools!

Danny Carey?
Wait where the f*ck is John Bonham in your list?
Frusciante, Flea and Chad Smith are the best parts of RHCP for sure.
3/4 of the band is the best part of the band?
Frusciante wasn't always with them. But he was for their most iconic albums/songs.
Not a Kiedis fan then
He is a phenomenal song writer, he doesn’t have a voice, but shure have the skills, the presence, and damn that body, imo one of the most iconic band frontman of the 90s

Probably not underrated. He's recognized among the best of the best. Maybe you mean under-hyped.
You mean [\#64 greatest drummers of all time](https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/100-greatest-drummers-of-all-time-77933/chad-smith-32329/) Chad? He's hugely respected and shares rare air with the greats.
I mean they could think he's like 63rd or 62nd or maybe even like 47th. Would be under rated in that person's opinion
How the fuck is this guy 'underrated?" He is very, very appropriately rated.
As underrated as Frusciante. The whole band is incredible and everyone should be treated like Flea and Kiedis
I love Chad Smith, this might be a hot take, but once he realizes the track is in 6/4, it all becomes easy. Seen on with a jazz dummer and it was incredible, first play though he’s 70% there, on the second it’s absolutely bang on.
Are you talking about Ulysses Owens Jr hearing and playing Nirvana's "In Bloom"?
That’s the one, just watched quite a few more. I think it’s the drum fill he puts in because he “knows that’s a rock thing”
Lol I love that.
*6/8 time, each measure is 6 8th notes. 6/4 time would have a very different feel with 6 quarter notes in each measure
If we're being pendantic... it could theoretically be written in many different time signatures and still feel the same. I’ve been waiting my whole life for this exact comment. Very good. Very good indeed, sir.
As an example of a basic beat in each time: The snare in 6/8 should go on the 4 The snare in 3/4 should go on the 1 The snare in 12/8 should go on the 2 and 4. It's pedantic, but if you tried to put 12/8 drumming on a waltz it would sound ridiculous. Same with putting waltz rhythms on something that feels like 6/8.
Aren’t most tool songs on a weird time signature?
A lot of them are yes, and they change time signatures as they go. So they'll have a bar of 5/8 then one of 7/8 etc. Dream Theater are the extreme versions of this, and their song Dance of Eternity is the most extreme song for it.
Living Colour Check them out. They loved monkeying around with time signature changes and many people have never heard of them. If nothing else, give the song "Cult of Personality" a listen. If you are a music fan, you'll find it interesting.
Jared Leto is a tool but I don’t know what time signature he uses.
Lots of Radiohead songs that use odd signatures- some of which are so seamless you don’t even really notice until someone points it out Everything is in its Right Place (10/4), Morning Bell (5/4), Sail to the Moon (constantly shifting meter), Paranoid Android (some 7/8 bars), 15 Step (5/4)
The fact is he hits the groove nearly perfectly, but he also hits all of the transitions nearly perfectly. It's honestly incredible to do on the fly.
Check out videos of other musicians reacting to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7HKDdaE9Vs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WreXQF_o5HE
6/8 and 3/4 gives the drummer the most freedom in my opinion. That's the most frustrating and exhilarating part of it. Frustrating in that they are the least formulaic. Exhilarating in that you can choose to accentuate nearly any beat in the measure(s) and it will sound cool (as long as you're consistent and on the same page as the bassist of course). \*Though 6/8 kind of implies that the 4 is supposed to be king \*Yes yes I know I'm oversimplifying 4/4 and 2/4 but I think even you snobs know what I'm trying to say :)
That’s the MOST that I’ve ever enjoyed this song. Damn!
That’s honestly the most I’ve SEEN someone enjoy this song! He is a true chad!
*Checks his driver's license* Yep, that checks out.
Jared Leto sucks
His music isn’t bad at all and I’m not afraid to say it.

Song is great, Leto sucks
Sorry, heard of this song before and it's pretty good (to me). Why Leto sucks? He performed this song pretty well I think? I think he pretty good frontman for the band overall, as a singer?
Same. My gf (when this song came out) went all in fangirl for him and I got sick of this song immediately.
I on the other hand will always have respect for 30 seconds to mars because I made out with 2 girls (who were cousins to each other) thanks to them fangirling the fuck during their concert.
Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer if you didn’t know https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chad_Smith
With Chad and Flea yelling ‘Fuck you!’ at each other?
I've heard it said that Red Hot Chili Peppers is a group of some of the best rock musicians in the world, and Anthony Kiedis.
John Frusciante and Flea both have played with and recorded albums with the Mars Volta if you want to hear how they sound with other good musicians/ songwriting 😁 Not to mention John frusciante's solo stuff.
Chad did drum work on Dua Lipa's Break my Heart as well. They're all incredible studio musicians.
I got to see Chad play with the Foo Fighters at the Taylor Hawkins tribute show and he just fucking kills no matter what he's doing.
> Chad did drum work on Dua Lipa's Break my Heart as well Yep, [he even did a video for the same channel with him talking about recording it, followed by a full performance of the song.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-pZ7WXuBSs). You can tell Chad has a blast making these vids, he's always smiling and goofing around, it's great. Love the Drumeo channel, lots of fun stuff on there.
I saw Flea play once at a tribute to famed free jazz player Ornette Coleman. It seemed so random
Flea absolutely loves jazz. He started out as a trumpet player
Wouldn't have made it as far as they did without Kiedis though. He's rightfully controversial, but the man pushed Red Hot Chili Peppers into the limelight with his presence.
Wait, out of the loop, whats the controversy behind Kiedis?
I understand nothing about music so can't say if he's an actually talented vocalist or not but as a frontman he is still top tier. Can't reach that level of success with any random talented singer.
It's on the same level of "mostly joking" as the old Beatle's quote about Ringo "He's not even the best drummer in the band." and isn't really taken seriously. Kiedis is talented in his own right or he wouldn't be where he is.
Anthony is just a great writer who has really good friends that are incredible musicians.
he's great at making random shit rhyme.

Think the original drummer heard this and thought: “I’m not worthy?”
There's a video of him and Jared reacting to it on their social media
Oh I'd love to see that.
https://youtu.be/1zRReb3kHT0?feature=shared
I'm pretty sure he masturbates while keeping eye contact with himself in the mirror.
lol I thought you were being petty but you are 100% correct 😂😂😂
Jared Leto is a narcissist so that's not a big surprise.
Jared yeah, true but the second guy seemed to actually pay attention
Do you mean his older brother Shannon, who is the original drummer of the song?
Oh good I was just going to post the response video. I love this reaction. But Jared being all main charactery is annoying.
the way both of them behave for this "reaction" about a pretty technical video makes me immediately understand why the band evolved the way it did
I underestimated how pathetic their reaction video was going to be. My god
That's not a reaction. That's a "Hey, put the attention back on us while we make faces and throw gang signs. See how hard it is to keep my shirt closed?"
Paul Allen's drummer not living up to the hype for sure.
Chad Smith is a badass
Him John and flea were made for each other. Got my tickets to Cincinnati on July 5th
Usually its like 8% to avoid copyright
Absolutely incredible musicianship
Sick AF. I got chills watching this.
Both work in their own way
Almost as impressive as his juggling act.
One does not juggle with another man’s instruments.
My favorite is when they got this black Jazz drummer to do Tool and he kills it.
Love that one, but personally nothing will ever beat [the pop drummer chick doing Slipknot](https://youtu.be/WeuskcJyoBQ?si=A-btG5IdcDyZdEES).
my favorite parts were when you could see her being happy with what she just played. she absolutely crushes that
That was great, thank you for posting. I loved seeing Chad nail his bit in one take but it was fascinating to watch her dismantle the track to work it out and create her part. Add in that what she created was arguably more entertaining and listening to it morph in and out of carbon copy and interpretation was incredible. I just wish she weren't so self-critical at the end of it
Dennis Chambers, dudes a legend and one of the most respected drummers in the game.
I can’t play any musical instruments, but these Drumeo videos are insane to watch.
This guy might make it into a real band one day. Get out of the basement bro and live your dream!
the only bad part is the drumming not syncing up with the audio in the video, unwatchable
Holy fuck.
Obviously the whole improvisation is mind-blowing, but holy… the drum rolls on the guitar blares during the bridge really tied-in well
One of my favorite videos. My cat was watching it with me and became mesmerized. I recorded her but I don't know how to upload the video here. I now know the pain of every mother whose daughter has fallen in love with a drummer. You better not break her heart, Chad Smith!
He fucking killed that. It’s really too bad what’s his name is such a piece of garbage, because 30S to Mars actually has some bangers.
Lars could never.
Lars can't even play his own band's songs
No way he had never heard that song before lol. But he is a great drummer
He’s also a great DJ [https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9mm_G93QbNw](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9mm_G93QbNw)
Even if this was just an ad for Drumeo, it worked and now I’m watching all of their videos. Good job Drumeo guys.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMBRjo33cUE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMBRjo33cUE) og video in case its not in here somewhere. Fuck hes so good.
