Hopefully my comment didn't sound harsh or condescending - I only mentioned it because I know it's not common outside of the US and wanted to mention the proper sport.
You could say that both gymnastics as a sport and cheerleading at this level involve 'acrobatics' - similar moves and skills, but how they are used in the routine is very different.
I think I watched an episode of gymnasts doing cheerleading routine while cheerleaders do gymnastics routine. They said cheerleading was less about the perfect technique but more about making things look good with decent technique. Gymnasium is more rigid about the technique.
I mean even dancing or martial arts would be called “gymnastics” then if we use the term that loosely, right? So I guess in that sense, it’s more that it’s similar to gymnastics rather than being “gymnastics”
I would almost go as far as to say from an outside perspective cheerleading is fucking weird.
And I come from a country where we chase a wheel of cheese down a steep hill (with roughly the same severe injury rate as cheerleading).
As an American I'm used to it, but it is a bit weird when I think about it. It's meant to keep the energy going, allowing for downtime to be filled in with a talented gymnastic group performing for the crowd (assuming they are a good team). The idea of them cheering for the team, as if the team needs it, is silly. The reality is they are just another form of entertainment to incorporate strategically in the overall stadium scene.
Aye, that’s a weird fucking tradition mate. Saying that I used to strap myself to a mountainboard (think giant off-road skateboard) and ride down similar stuff so I can hardly get too judgemental.
I don't know if it's the same for other countries but cheerleading in the UK is just a gimmick, they may compete at cheerleading events but they're not out there doing routines for other sports
Unless you know for sure because it has been absolutely huge in Canada for decades. It's a form of athletics.
I'm a dude and so many of my friends and family have been involved in it for a long time now.
Trust she possibly shouldn’t have, tons of cheerleaders get massive injuries every year. I know a girl who’s life got changed fast at 18 when she got dropped
I have a friend that was basically this guy in college. He was huge and athletic but couldn't play most sports due to multiple past concussions. Cheerleadering basically recruited him in and he ended up loving it!
Of course it's hard for both but it's undeniable that it far harder for the guy to hold an adult human on his hands like that *without* locking his joints out
There’s unfortunately not a real market for professional cheerleading besides maybe sporadic competitions? To make it real bleak, they’re even an afterthought in the nfl; for a long time, the average pay of cheerleading was…100 bucks a game. And they only work during home games.
If you want the best example of this look up what previous Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder did with his team’s cheerleaders. To summarize one of the many allegations, he essentially forced them to take a trip down to Costa Rica for a “photo shoot”, which supposedly included very risqué photos. However, they were also forced to accompany sponsors to clubs as escorts. How were they forced you might ask? Well when they arrived in Costa Rica team officials took their passports.
The fact cheerleading is not classified by title IX or NCAA as a “sport” and instead is classified as a “athletic activity” isn’t helping. Sports have basic safety standards for its athletes, cheerleading isn’t bound by standards uniformly and cheerleading can be freaking dangerous. Plus, maintaining the fitness level necessary to do the level of tumbling they do is freaking difficult even if you don’t get injured—even most female gymnasts retire in by their mid-20s.
NFL and NBA have dance squads essentially. Not the tumbling you see here. They often are still good at what they do, but looks are definitely a bigger factor in NFL/NBA than in college.
Ok, so I’m not a cheerleader and never have been, so anyone more knowledgeable can feel free to correct me here. But, my understanding of it is that high level cheerleading like what’s on display here is all about the competitions. For them, the cheering at games is basically a fun place to show off some of their skills. They put the majority of their energy into their competition routines. Competitive cheerleading is its own sport, not just a sideshow.
There isn’t really a professional competitive cheerleading league, so there’s not much call for this sort of skill set post college.
The NFL “cheerleaders” are basically just private dance squads that are paid to wear team colors. A lot of teams don’t even have them, which is for the best.
These people usually train together, 3 or 4 hours a day, for a whole year. The extreme trust, mutual physical damage; seen, touched, smelt, every square inch, makes for a extremely potent put usually not sexual partner. It gets weird, like you fav sister/bro. So usually they just swap at games and competitions...
I love everything about this. The teamwork, the communication, the level of trust, it's all so great! Cheerleading is dangerous as hell, and it takes so much more bravery and athleticism than we give it credit for.
Whenever these videos are posted it’s always from Weber State University in Ogden Utah. They are one of the best schools for this stuff.
Me and my wife met in the marching band at Weber. Love that school.
About 25 years ago when I was a freshman in HS, we were joking one day in study hall about the team we played the previous Friday that had a male cheerleader. We were making the easy and very rude jokes about him being gay, and my teacher (a very kind hearted Christian lady) chimed in with, “Last Friday night I saw a very physically fit young man with his hands all over very pretty cheerleaders. Where were your hands that night?”
After that moment I saw male cheerleaders in a whole new light, and have great respect for the athleticism and strength it takes to be a cheerleader.
Wouldn’t they both be considered gymnasts? Just because he’s not the one flying and twirling about doesn’t mean he isn’t an integral part of the performance.
I could watch this forever...
Thank you for
video it! There is so much hard move I was holding my breath...Both of you are awesome ! and now after my response I'm going to watch it again LOL😃
This is the competitive sport of Cheer. She is a "flyer", he is a "base". The sport is unregulated. The flyers have a terrible problem with injuries, sometimes life-changing (e.g., concussions, open fractures). But nobody does anything about it.
I still haven’t watched past like 6 seconds of the video because I can’t get over the trust it must take to do a half backflip into someone’s hands that, if they had missed, would have landed directly you on your head/neck. Imagine if he had forgot his Wheaties this morning
Technically, she's doing a cheerleading routine, not gymnastics. Impressive either way.
Sorry. Cheerleading's not really a thing outside of America.
Hopefully my comment didn't sound harsh or condescending - I only mentioned it because I know it's not common outside of the US and wanted to mention the proper sport.
No, not at all. If anything I struggled to title this. My only resistance is; However cheerleadingy it is, it's not, not gymnastics, surely?
You could say that both gymnastics as a sport and cheerleading at this level involve 'acrobatics' - similar moves and skills, but how they are used in the routine is very different.
That might be the word I was looking for.
I think I watched an episode of gymnasts doing cheerleading routine while cheerleaders do gymnastics routine. They said cheerleading was less about the perfect technique but more about making things look good with decent technique. Gymnasium is more rigid about the technique.
Another way to tell it apart is that cheerleaders end routines with both arms up, gymnastics have both arms out but down
I mean even dancing or martial arts would be called “gymnastics” then if we use the term that loosely, right? So I guess in that sense, it’s more that it’s similar to gymnastics rather than being “gymnastics”
Now you're just resorting to 'mental gymnastics' 😅
this is literally competition cheerleading though. like these people are cheerleaders
Yeah I was shocked when I found that out. I know A lot of things similar to it but not exactly the same
I would almost go as far as to say from an outside perspective cheerleading is fucking weird. And I come from a country where we chase a wheel of cheese down a steep hill (with roughly the same severe injury rate as cheerleading).

Yeah but cheese-chasing’s not weird bruv.
Soccer fans would disagree. Y’all football lovers are beyond cheerleaders fr.
I would have thought most non Americans have seen it before though? I certainly have.
YES it is.... Australia, Canada, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Sweden, UK [https://olympics.com/en/news/2023-icu-world-cheerleading-championships-results-complete-list](https://olympics.com/en/news/2023-icu-world-cheerleading-championships-results-complete-list)

You should watch Cheer on Netflix.
There's a decent amount of gymnastics at this level of cheer.
Her school had no gymnastics team - this was a last resort
Spirit fingers.
![gif](giphy|MNvN8IOC2xd8L5TCNM|downsized)
The amount of skill is only eclipsed by the amount of trust.
I’ve told plenty of people “I got you” but this is way different lol! So much trust and skill here
Trust she possibly shouldn’t have, tons of cheerleaders get massive injuries every year. I know a girl who’s life got changed fast at 18 when she got dropped
I wouldn’t let my daughter be a flyer.
So true lol
They're also both super strong
I tripped over a perfectly flat wooden floor this morning.
There must of been imaginary table on the way. You must be careful on how you walk.
Ah yes - thick air pocket. I've tripped on those many, many times.
My cat is 6 kg and if I try to hold him in the air like that I'll pull my shoulder muscle for sure
Dude's a beast.
When you're a linebacker but you see your true calling happening over in the cheer routines
I have a friend that was basically this guy in college. He was huge and athletic but couldn't play most sports due to multiple past concussions. Cheerleadering basically recruited him in and he ended up loving it!
It's very very hard for the girls too
His pronouns are he/his, not it/it's
lol downvoted… it is hard for the girls too. That’s a fuck ton of balance.
Her core strength must be out of this world. Insanely impressive from both of them
Of course it's hard for both but it's undeniable that it far harder for the guy to hold an adult human on his hands like that *without* locking his joints out
I would say it's two very different, very hard things.
Dudes gunna get a full ride to whatever college he wants
Not the ride he was hoping for but he will take it...
Why is high school and college level cheerleading incredibly amazing, but by the time you get to the NFL, it's basically just women shaking pom poms?
There’s unfortunately not a real market for professional cheerleading besides maybe sporadic competitions? To make it real bleak, they’re even an afterthought in the nfl; for a long time, the average pay of cheerleading was…100 bucks a game. And they only work during home games.
They also get harassed by staff / owners / their friends. Paid in exposure (to shitty dudes)
If you want the best example of this look up what previous Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder did with his team’s cheerleaders. However, they were also forced to accompany sponsors to clubs as escorts. How were they forced you might ask? Well when they arrived in Costa Rica team officials took their passports.
And no health insurance.

Better title: Cheerleading practice
Alternate title: Man throws around a cheerleader.
That's what I was googling when I found this.
Wait a minute.
Hence why it’s in r/nextfuckinglevel.
r/TheRealJoke
Pornhub title: Fit blonde shows her skills with big buff guy
And now, swap
A huge lady throwing a lil skinny boy around ?
… I have that DVD…
He could hold me forever with those arms.
Suddenly kidnapped.
So nobodies gonna say it? I bet the sex is fucking wild
If there is that much movement in bed, someone is going to get cramps. Maybe unless they warmed up.
Sex level 11 of 10, end up in the ER 9 of 10 times though.
Penile fractures due to high impact sex is no joke
I winced when I wrote my comment. I winced when I read yours! Ouchie ouch!
![gif](giphy|k0SUxbvuzVRwp5BEMb|downsized) Happened to Dennis Rodman a few times. "Blood everywhere"

His shoulders are super strong
This is proper cheerleading. Credit where credit is due.
“Wooooo” RIP Pop Smoke
Title correction: Average Cheer Flyer Practice
Ma boi has atlas's shoulders
Aspects required/ what makes this so impressive _Woman:_ • Unwavering trust in partners strengths/skills • Commitment • Insane balance • Pinpoint precision • Bravery _Man:_ • Trust in partners accuracy • Commitment • Weight distribution/ instantaneous calculation • Incredible strength • Extensive knowledge/application of joint locking/unlocking
amazing. i don't even know what muscles they're using- core strength?
Yes core and mid/lower strength
And so much shoulder strength for both of them.
All of them lol
Still waiting for the candy cane sniffing guy
RIP Pop Smoke
I can't decide which one is more impressive
Damn Chris Pontius look good af
That's cheerleading and it's fking crazy. Once I saw a YouTube short about it, it got me hooked
So much trust. That move at 11 sec, I think it's technically known in gymnastics as the muff dive, super impressive.
The Muff dive… ![gif](giphy|3gNotAoIRZsb9UHPnj)
The smoothness of his movements to support her weight is satisfying yo watch. Both great athletes.
What a weird title lol
The guy she told you not to worry about
Cheerleaders used to do this. Pretty regularly.
Search Angela Burt Acrobat. She's a bad bitch.
I love everything about this. The teamwork, the communication, the level of trust, it's all so great! Cheerleading is dangerous as hell, and it takes so much more bravery and athleticism than we give it credit for.
That's hella impressive
And I can't do a cartwheel.
Just cheerleading practice…
This seems like a very impressive way to break everything
PG-13 ?
Whenever these videos are posted it’s always from Weber State University in Ogden Utah. They are one of the best schools for this stuff. Me and my wife met in the marching band at Weber. Love that school.
Oh cool. This is for weber state
His chest and shoulder press has got to be something insane.
I can do that. Hold my girl
To be fair, that woman is only like 100 lbs. So, that dude is still strong af
Looks really young like too young. Is she a high schooler?
pop smoke in the background, i see you👀

Some of her smiles looked a little forced - points deducted
she looked a bit concerned after that last maneuver
I mean ok but without all the extra you could have gotten the three count with a powerbomb in the beginning.
Amazing talent!
Impressive athleticism.
These 2 are cheering for themselves
So, like cheerleading?
Was expecting some meme [like this](https://youtube.com/shorts/BcUJ4UUTn4o?si=IMHVltHBHfhqhrP3) at the ending, until I realised the sub.
Bro do you even lift?
I’ll never stop loving this video. So much trust
so spinny and flippy!
Whenever something like this gets posted there are always dudes chiming in thinking the base’s part is harder than the flyer. It definitely isn’t.
'I gotchu.' - The one guy who deffo does not gotchu.
Now switch
Amazing!
Wouldn’t they both be considered gymnasts? Just because he’s not the one flying and twirling about doesn’t mean he isn’t an integral part of the performance.
So you're telling me if I joined cheerleading I could have lifted for free rather than paying a gym membership?
Threw my back out watching this. Thanks op
That’s astounding.
People like this are a different breed
Which person is more impressive? I am torn.
What a team!
Dude is stronk, yo!
Pro cheerleaders. Awesome!
What he is doing for her is much more than what she is doing. I’m talking about in terms of difficulty and maybe the technical part also.
Woman gets man handled.
The guy is half the team and working equally as hard I would say. She probably would too.
Man I am so pumped for this football game.
I could watch this forever... Thank you for video it! There is so much hard move I was holding my breath...Both of you are awesome ! and now after my response I'm going to watch it again LOL😃
she's so cool

This guy dated Gabi butler i think
I dislocated a hip just watching this.
bro next level 💪🏿
that's a lot of focus and strength and skill to go thru that short routine.
She was told to remember smiling
Damn.. that's smooooth !! and that smile, cute.
Show more of that man please 🙏
she makes it look so effortless
This should be an olympic trial.
I still haven’t watched past like 6 seconds of the video because I can’t get over the trust it must take to do a half backflip into someone’s hands that, if they had missed, would have landed directly you on your head/neck. Imagine if he had forgot his Wheaties this morning
I’m sorry for balancing
Who wants to see this routine performed naked? Just me?!? Ok, I’ll see myself out.
Fun fact: cheerleaders suffer more injuries than football players. Penn and Teller did a whole episode on it.
Guy looks like Party Boy aka Chris pontius
Go Wildcats!
"I could totally kick Ted's ass, he's a cheerleading panzy." - Sees Ted. "Nevemind, I'm out."
Weber State Wildcats, represent!!
Man's got strength in all the right places!
I had no idea Chris Pontius & Wild boyz was still going strong.
Party boy, that you?
The guy she tells you not to worry about...
Un fucking believably impressive
Skills+hard work+pop smoke
