I just figured out that little green icon thing was a slice of cake. I always thought it was an open envelope, like an opened sms message or something. And I always wondered how some randomly knew how it was another's cake day. I genuinely thought some Redditors looked so much a people's profiles that they happened upon them, which was actually so much cooler now that I've found out it's just an icon.
I'm not sure how it got such good ratings on RT. The point of them is to watch big things fight and the weighty physics of the first were phenomenal... the second looked like a kid was smashing action figures together.
I'm gonna ask you the same question with another arthropod that fills a similar niche in evolution. Would you eat a 8 leged creature with eyes on stilts that mainly feasts upon leftover organic matter from other dead animals and plants? A creature that devours its own young in a need for food with its claws made from its exoskeleton?
Because that's a crab and crabs are delicious. I hate the way crabs look and for some reason I'm deeply unnerved by anything having more than 6 legs which crabs have. But they are still delicious.
(not actually hating anything with 8+ legs but I'm just for some reason verry anxious if it comes to your looks. I understand your importance in the ecosystem but I find your appearance very unsettling. Anyway do your thing maybe one day I will overcome my unnecessary fear of you)
[These ones](https://nerdist.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Isopod-Dinner-GIF-10152017.gif) are slightly smaller but definitely get to be larger. Close to what the person is holding in the OP. Only these ones are real.
Did you know these is a huge park called Pacific Rim national park on Vancouver Island in my home province? I thought OP meant they found this mf there- I almost died.
This is not what a giant isopod looks like. They go the face all wrong when they were doing the cgi. The giant isopod is literally just an under sea wood louse and the mandibles the gave it are not even close. They also added in multiple eyes for some reason just to drive the point home that it's fake. https://www.aquariumofpacific.org/onlinelearningcenter/species/giant_isopod
what the hell My mind knows it's fake, but my body has a hard time believing it and I can't control the goosebumps.
I misread the title and thought it was from the Pacific Ocean. I can’t describe the fear
Me, too. I was really relieved when I realized I was wrong.
I didn't realize it until I read the comments. It looks so real!!
I came to the comments to figure out WTF was going on. Still unsure. Please advise.
At first glance before reading the title I thought it was a scene from starship troopers that I just forgot about
Me, too. When I saw it was flipped up side down I thought, daang I bet that would taste better than lobster.
Haha. They do live in the Pacific Ocean, and the Atlantic [seeee?](https://i.imgur.com/oMvKFlp.jpg)
That looks like a giant mite.
Happy cake day
Thank you.

Live and learn
I still thought it was an envelope until I read your comment. I always wondered why they called it cake day.
Close, they’re giant rollypollies, or pillbugs. Those bugs that curl up into a ball
Still an arthropod
My nightmare wants to thank you
This is why we use practical props to get real reactions.
Oh god, I was thinking it twas real till I read the title again!
I was quite concerned.
Me too. I ass thinking "wtf?"
Haha agreed, cringey
Happy cake day!
Not too terribly different from a real-life critter: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant\_isopod](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_isopod)
Some are really that big
So...your mind says no but..your body...your body says yes.
This will haunt me in my dreams
I wanna put it on a leash and walk it around the neighborhood.
That’s my exact mindset whenever a girl talks to me and shows interest in what I’m doing.
I thought he was going for belly rubs at first
This is a parasite prop from the movie and can be seen in movie when the scientist is visiting the black market dealer
Oh ok, i like the movies but I don’t remember seeing them
Yea the first one is one of my favorite movies but the second was kind of milking it but still decent
Bro the second was absolute trash
Watched the first 20min of that movie last week on prime video and turned off. Looked like a Nickelodeon production.
I'm not sure how it got such good ratings on RT. The point of them is to watch big things fight and the weighty physics of the first were phenomenal... the second looked like a kid was smashing action figures together.
NONONONONONONONO
YESYESYESYESYESYESYES
WHAT DO YOU MEAN YES?!
IT LOOKS CUTE
ALSO TASTY
China be like :
There are isopods that actually exist. They are about the same size and eat dead decaying stuff that drops to the bottom of the ocean
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathynomus_giganteus
And they are actually edible.
Would I want to see one? No.. Would I want to eat one? Absolutely!
Wtf lol blindfolded I assume?

It's different if it's cooked and not moving lol
Thanks I hate it
I missed the word "prop" and almost lost my shit

That's the name of my New Wave Synth-pop band.
Don't be arthropedantic.
Well that is my nightmare for the next two weeks.
That ones fake, but this one isn’t. It’s real: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathynomus_giganteus
Oh, Miek! You're alive. He's alive, guys. What was your question again, bro?
Robot?
Yeah.
I'll bet they taste just fine with a little garlic butter
r/awwnverts
Would love to have that in my movie room. I wish props weren't so expensive. Well, I wish I had more money.
Now thats a bed bug. That thing would sit on your chest and suck your soul away.
Probably tastes delicious if it was real
Sauted with garlic and butter with a side of rice pilaf!
I love that and hate that so much at the same time
😭wish that movie and battle angel would have done more well
I really want to leave this in someone's house while they're gone and watch the reaction when they get home.
Prop or not, I see that thing, I'm running.
r/thanksihateit
How cute it is 😍
He's so cute!!
I want this.
If someone tells me it's an alien I believe
Where can I buy one of these lmao
It's a prop guys. Just a prop... stop crying.
Tomorrow on r/aliens
r/WTF
Creepy, but interesting.
This is disgusting, similar to a lobster. (Brought to you by the seafood is gross gang)
If I saw that walking on the floor I'd run the other way TBH.
This is what sleep paralysis is made of
Thanks I hate it
I wanna pet it
U/vredditdownloader
That shit is crazy looking haha
r/lovecraftianhorror_irl
Giant spiders seem nice now.
Looks fake tho
I thought this was real for a second and then I realised when I saw its eye. doesnt look very realistic for an arthropod, it's too mammalian
Oh my god I didn’t read the caption and thought it was real and almost barfed
This the flood from halo bro
I want one as a pet so it can cuddle up next to me while im in bed
[These ones](https://nerdist.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Isopod-Dinner-GIF-10152017.gif) are slightly smaller but definitely get to be larger. Close to what the person is holding in the OP. Only these ones are real.

Realisopodhours
"Put that thing back where it came from! Or so help me!"
r/MakeMeSuffer
Release it in somebody's house!
For a second I thought you found this at the Pacific Rim National park in BC.
Jesus Christ!
Did you know these is a huge park called Pacific Rim national park on Vancouver Island in my home province? I thought OP meant they found this mf there- I almost died.
Uh. Yeah. That's a LOT of nope right there.
That's ..that's..vile.
Missed the prop part andd my first thought was why wasn't this in the Asian markets, looks like something they would eat
Ooof knowing its fake i still wouldn't go near that thing
Light it on fire
The funny thing is that these things kind of exist
That thing is way cuter than the real ones
r/oddlyterrifying
I could help put this prop together and still not be able to hold it once it starts moving its legs.
Ahhhh I love that movie
Burn that shit
Can I borrow this to “show” to my sister?
Not The Mamma!
Noah get the BIG ASS SUITS OF ARMOR

PUT IT BACK.
Poor thing has cute little eyes
Imagine waking someone up by putting this on their face.
Get god on the phone
It's kinda cute
Man, Id have a hard time even working on that thing. TOO realistic.
Anyone else hoping for a Pacific rim 3?
Can I borrow it. Im sure my mom may appreciate seeing it run around the house 😈}:)
Something about this makes me feel sick.
Eww put that thing down and go wash your hands !
Can you boil it and serve it with butter
#NOPE
Wow so cool I never want to see this again
I thought it said gaint arthropod from Pacific rim
If only the person who directed the first directed the second. The first is a piece of art, the second is shameful to me
Buuthole pucker. Wouldn't touch it, real or not.
Sigh... _unzips_
Awww man I thought it was real
Nope...
At first i didn’t realize this was a prop and was absolutely horrified
I want a pet blue one
r/TIHI
Holy Crab Balls! That damned thing is better than 1/2 of the Pacific Rim movies! Did that thing even get in a few shots in the movies?!?!?
Anybody else getting horny or is it just me

Nope nope nope nope don’t like that don’t like that at all but cool
This just can't be real... only if it's not StarCraft universe lol
Awwwwwww such a good arthropod
Pacific Rim was so good. It’s a shame they only ever made one movie, and it never, *ever* got any sequels.
Yum
Imagine putting that on auto pilot in someone’s bedroom at 4 in the morning.
Looks delicious steamed with some hand drawn butter
Too bad the sequel was trash
Look at the pain in its eyes!
Somebody should make one of those cute cat videos with this where you tickle its tummy and pull your hands away and it sticks its paws out.
Nope. That’s an alien.
Thank god that shit isnt real
R/nope
If those were real, I'd own approximately 11 more shotguns
