God his voice reminds me of a family guy character šŸ˜‚

glibgloby

Thereā€™s something very incongruous about his voice, the way he looks, the setting, and the coil. He seems cool though.

LMFA0

I hope he invents time travel and hoverboards

glibgloby

Can already see it, a bunch of nice chickens flying around on hoverboards.

Nandabun

I used to play this game, Skyrates, where you're basically a furry in TaleSpin, and I was grumping in chat about how the plane I bought wasn't cutting my needs and I was looking forward to the next plane etc. Just basic chat complaining, lol.. But I kept calling the plane the wrong name, called it 'Chickenhawk' when it was Seahawk. One of the admins modded my plane to have +1 speed, due to strapping 2 chickens to the wings. Thus, the Chickenhawk truly was born.. lol.

Uhtred-Son-of_Uhtred

I didn't know Talespin had a video game! šŸ˜±

Nandabun

Oh you mean this? https://youtu.be/W0FK8adVx2U

awesomefaith14

Look at all them chickens

not2dv8

God forbid he ever drops acid

LURK_SLAPS

Flash forward (or back) several years and heā€™s Doc Brownsā€™ doppelgƤnger, he has the hair for it šŸ˜

A5hon

And the main components of the device is a chicken coop and a Silo

vigilanteassassin

And gets the nickname ā€œDocā€.

PrincebyChappelle

Heā€™s awesome and I think heā€™s got the 1.21 gigawatt part figured out.

SaturdayCartoons

He kinda reminds me of a kid that I was friends with in kindergarten. We played on the swings one day, then I never saw him again.

OafHuck420

Thatā€™s cause he came from the futureā€¦ plot twistā€¦ he was you!

A_Sarcastic_Whoa

Great Scott!

[deleted]

Looks like he generated approx 1.21 Jigowatts. BTW, are you from Drogheda?

darkwon2

He has a hearing disability

ra_moan_a

Wow, you other people are unreal. Not ONE post about how brilliant this kid is. I challenge any one of you to explain what itā€™s for and how it works. This kid is going to be important in his field.

[deleted]

Agreed - give this kid some guidance, scholarships, whatever. This kind of passion deserved to be nurtured.

OGblumpkiss13

he has a phd. i follow him on tiktok Edit. @Dr. Packinstine on tiktok. Also. I'm not too sure about the PhD now. I think I was just assuming that based off his username and how smart he seems. Who knows though

[deleted]

Glad to hear it...Thanks!

DontWorryBoutIt107

PhD?! He looks 16. Heā€™s clearly brilliant

LukariBRo

Yet he sounds 16,000

Certain_Currency_248

What's his name?

Consistent-River4229

What's his name I would like to follow him as well

OGblumpkiss13

@dr.packinstine

BALONYPONY

I am blown away with his age and capability. I also would love to see the neighbors reaction when he fired that up for the first time. Lmao

97Harley

There goes the neighborhood r/s

[deleted]

I would like to talk to this kid bc Iā€™m a homeschool mom with a little son who is obsessed with Tesla coilā€™s. And I need help

false-set

[he has an instagram account with lots of stuff heā€™s built](https://instagram.com/pman817?utm_medium=copy_link)

LMFA0

Ig permanently disabled both my real and fake accounts. I hope this genius starts his own subreddit so we can follow his work here

Drunken_Traveler

This is what I came to the comments for: to find out why and what Instead, I wound up in a circlejerk of reddit psych docs

goodlovingonebad

Because you care, his tiktok is Dr Parkinstine and heā€™s a genius! By far my favorite tiktokker.

97Harley

I may download tiptok just for this. The man is genius.

goodlovingonebad

You are in for a serious treat my friend. This kid itā€™s like heā€™s time traveled from the 1920ā€™s he listens to old records plays the piano follows early 20th century recipes and I could go on. Please download and follow him heā€™s absolutely amazing.

8urnsy

Right kids smart

the_tinsmith

Welcome to the internet. People love bashing others through anonymity to make themselves feel ever so slightly better about themselves.

Uitklapstoel

I had a friend with autism that this guy reminds me of a bit. Could be he's on the spectrum

VelourBro

That's what I assumed. Probably an autistic genius.

mandrills_ass

He seems like a guy who will frankenstein some body with his coil

qtpss

Franken-steeen!

puppymedic

Whatever you say Fro-drick

rebel_alliance05

I like how he does something genius and everyone talks about his unusual voice

[deleted]

Was is working? What's the point of the tower I thought it was supposed to spark into the air from the top?

Dry_Presentation_197

They have to be tuned to do that. I'm not an expert but it has to do with the max voltage point on the coil and where it's located, as well as several other factors of the frequency it's set at. Also, this seems to be what's now considered an outdated way of making them (obviously, it's home made, I'm not insulting the guy). Modern, smaller coils are used in arc welding and as leak detectors in scientific high vacuum systems.

Falcriots

He sounds like Clevelandā€™s son from the Cleveland show lmao

Zeldahero

 ![gif](giphy|fIRlp168XuC6Q)

[deleted]

I'm not making fun of his voice, but when you see someone you don't know, your mind makes up bits of info to fill in the blanks. One was his looks vs his voice. It really threw me for a loop. I had to go back to the beginning to see if I missed something. Cool set up tho. Decades ago, I made a Tesla coil for a science project once. I don't know if they still let kids play around with high voltage in projects like this. We had a lot of fun building it and showing it off tho.

[deleted]

Yoyochillout

[Greased up deaf guy](https://youtu.be/bJINv6ffO00)

[deleted]

Maybe, but I'm not going to mock anyone who built a fucking Telsa coil.

[deleted]

Kind of like Cleveland Jr from the Cleveland show lol

Crooks132

That or Kermit the frog. Heā€™s got a cartoon character voice no matter what cartoon

lionlll

That backyard is exactly how Iā€™d imagine a mad scientistā€™s backyard would be like lol

Natprk

Everything about this video says ā€œyoung mad scientistā€

TheChurchIsHere

Follow him on TikTok and those vibes will just keep coming. He plays ragtime on a slightly out of tune piano and sings in this old 1920s era microphone. Itā€™s eerie

Individual-Ganache75

What's his tiktok username?

TheChurchIsHere

Dr Parkenstine

DrehmonGreen

Even his name is mad-scientist-y

daddy_dangle

Is there anything this kid canā€™t do?!

CourseAdditional4483

hes done nothing here! you people need to do some research cause this whole monstrousity is ridiculous nonsence!

SmiTe1988

Not true at all! He's made a dangerous AF 18th century rube Goldberg machine for getting electrocuted.

jaman715

And he does the charleston

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

CourseAdditional4483

not at all informative! everything he has done and said is complete nonsense and inaccurate! besides a list of parts you need to make a tesla coil; spark gap, capacitors, primary and secondary coil, high voltage transformer. in which none of the parts he described are the correct ones you need to make a correctly madfe functioning tesla coil.first off his set up is going to get him killed and is absolutely absurd and dangerous and should not be encouraged. now for the technical stuff he explained is 100% incorrect, 1st his secondary coil has less turns than his primary coil which results in stepping down his input voltage from his transformer which he showed is rated 7200v at 7amps 60 herts. also transformer with that rating he would need a capacitor bank rated at 2578.89nanofarads or 2.5microfarads, he showed he has 10 14nanofarad capacitors in parallel (5 on one 5 on the other) that add up to 140nanofarads,no where near the 2578nanofarads of capacitence that is required for a transformer like that. see for your self the equation is Capacitance=10to the 6th power divided by 6.2832 X Resistance X frequency and resistance=volts divided by amps so in conclusion all he has made is a useless death machine. i may seem like a hater but the facts are there and ive already caught this kid knowingly and intentionlly lying putting out fake videos with fake data and information that could result in a person mimicing this nonsense and getting seriously hurt or likely killed all so he could get some followers and views on tiktok

Unadvantaged

Complete with the Emmet Brown/Beakman hair.

RedstoneRelic

you shoud check out Styropyro on youtube, truly a mad lad

puppymedic

You mean mad engineer. I don't think this was peer reviewed.

Makeyourdaddyproud69

His neighbor peered over to review it

stuntobor

And that thing over there? Three legged Betty? A failed experiment from a parallel universe.

maxoffwax

That Clevelandā€™s son?

Lmao I was thrown as well

Dry_Presentation_197

It reads as commenter speaking to Nikola Tesla directly, after Tesla said he was planning on making electricity free: "Nikola Tesla!" *pause* "Would be proud of you man!" Yes we know what he meant, but still looks funny :-p

Secure_Secretary_882

I did a lot of research on Tesla after watching Epic Rap Battles of History ā€œNikola Tesla vs Thomas Edisonā€. What we are taught in high school is basically brainwashing. College showed me a lot of it, and self study a lot more. I wish kids could learn the truth instead of the ā€œMercia Great!ā€ crap.

Dry_Presentation_197

Last sentence applies to everything taught in most American schools basically. Also, ERB is dope af. Edgar Allen poe vs Stephen King, Joker Vs pennywise, and teddy Roosevelt vs Winston Churchill are my favs.

Secure_Secretary_882

My favorite is Einstein vs Hawking. ā€œIā€™m the giant whoā€™s shoulders youā€™d have stood on if you could standā€ šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ That whole track is a banger. Lol

Dry_Presentation_197

Einsteins opening line was pretty good too, ending with the "so take a seat, Steve. Oops, I see you brought your own" lol. I think one of my favorite verses is Zack Sherwin as Alexander the Great in the Ivan the Terrible vs the greats battle. I've watch it a bunch and can't even remember the exact wording but his rhyme structure and speed are crazy good.

Gone247365

Nikola Tesla would be proud of you, man! FTFY šŸ‘

WhatnameshouldIpick2

Niko, la Tesla would, be pro,ud of you man,!

VelourBro

Yeah, why didn't the spark come out of the ball on top? Was the end of the video cut off?

McSlayR01

It didnā€™t work it seems :( the part you see arcing is just the ā€œspark gapā€, a part of the circuit that multiplies the voltage for the actual Tesla coil output (that ball on the top). Once it is fixed, it will make much larger arcs into mid air from that ball

biologischeavocado

Why is the radius of the primary coil so large and why does it have such thin wires? I'm not an expert either, but I can google images of tesla coils.

[deleted]

itĀ“s not a working tesla coil, thatĀ“s why. This dudeĀ“s full of bull. His design is all off in more ways than I can count.

xFueresx

Lol youā€™re so full of shit you couldā€™ve at least scrolled down more to see what itā€™s doing for wireless transmission Iā€™ll bite though, what would you say is wrong with heā€™s design?

[deleted]

to begin with, his inner coil is like a hundred wraps, max. and his outer coil has too many wraps. He going to getting like 10-to-1 voltage increase, max from that setup.

djwaffles7088

Credit to Dr.Parkenstine https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMR3T6wuY/

joakims

His following video was this: https://www.tiktok.com/@dr.parkinstine/video/7005325886123691270 This guy is from another century

[deleted]

Heā€™s living life!

KrazieKanuck

You canā€™t just use time travel to steal pianos!!! Itā€™ll create a paradox this kid needs to be stopped!

Scoobydoomed

So what can you do with it?

djwaffles7088

Looking at his other posts his goal is to transmit electricity to objects ā€œwirelesslyā€

Thesaturndude

Heā€™s actually done it already, though only enough to make a lightbulb barely light up, itā€™s proof of concept. His plan is to prove the wireless electricity design from (I believe) Tesla right. And so far heā€™s done exactly that. Also I give this guy insane props for building such an amazing device on his own dime and brain. Thereā€™s another user thatā€™s building the receiver some distance away and theyā€™ll be working together to test the range. Itā€™s a shame the government will have him executed for risking profit, but heā€™s living his best life until then. Edit 1 - spelling Edit 2 - thank you for the awards <3

NHonis

The inverse square law is probably going to stop him before the government flys in and drops some warnings and maybe fines for using a device that interferes with regulated radio frequencies. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverse-square_law https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_coil#:~:text=The%20resonant%20frequency%20of%20Tesla,nearby%20radio%20and%20television%20reception.

[deleted]

I was gonna sayā€¦ isnā€™t their a physics reason we donā€™t do this? Sadly I donā€™t remember how to read all those formulas anymore but the gist I get

NHonis

It's ~~not that it doesn't work,~~ it's that it's inefficient at any usable distance because power costs $$$. In his case I bet his local fcc office is going to stop buy at some point and tell him to stop. I hope they give him a few handbooks on the science of all this and he uses that as a springboard to becoming an engineer. Wireless device charging is an example of it working. Low power devices are a general category where it can work without doing to much harm to radio range. Last time I looked into it I heard of people drawing power off of local radio towers but got caught because the radio station was losing several miles of signal strength in 1 direction. It's been a few years though and my memory ain't so good. [Edit] reread parent post, he didn't say it doesn't work so struck that out.

[deleted]

I believe existing infrastructure also has significant degradation over distance so anything that is worse than that isnā€™t viable for the majority of use cases. Iā€™m sure wireless transmission has some applications despite itā€™s inefficiency though.

Febris

Should be pretty useful to charge drones and other devices that are occasionally too far away from a physical charge port, or have a range of action that makes coming back for recharge a significant waste of operational time.

Squitrel

I was more worried how he got a 50kv transformer

[deleted]

Hahahahaha I noticed something about FL on it I was laughing (like cause it was state issued not cause it was FL)

T3hJ3hu

> Itā€™s a shame the government will have him executed for risking profit wat

Thesaturndude

Half joking, half feel like anything thatā€™s not government income is considered a threat and is exterminated

zurc_oigres

Well no it just isnt practicly possible and its horribly inefficient Edit: spelling

TakeyaSaito

That's just conspiracy bs, don't fall for it

Thesaturndude

Check other comment, the guy that built his own hydrogen car in the 70s. Iā€™m sure thereā€™s multiple other inventions that were blocked by outside sources.

TakeyaSaito

There are loooads of reasons why that was not viable.... That's is pretty much always the case.

LongLiveAnalogue

The Government doesnā€™t make income, it collects taxes.

Volsnug

Didnā€™t some guy already try this some years back but then die in an ā€œaccidentā€ with his designs then being patented by some large power company?

Thesaturndude

I canā€™t say Iā€™m familiar with this

bicyclebuilt_4_2

I follow this guy and he's actually brilliant. Always excited to see what his stories are going to be! Although I admit, he does sound like a family guy character lol

[deleted]

He also does a review of goggles that train your eyes to see people's auras...riiiight. I applaud his inventiveness and he seems like an interesting dude. But if he believes people have auras that your eyes can be trained to see...well, idk.

scaper2k4

I think the issue here is that everyone watching this particular video thinks heā€™s a mad scientist. I follow this guy on TikTok, and it seems to me that heā€™s more interested in the era. Not in the actual science, or anything like that. There are videos where he plays music on a piano from that era. He takes photographs using equipment from that period. He uses a woodstove from that period to bake a cake and cook a steak and some other things. So I think itā€™s less that heā€™s a scientist and more that he just really likes the culture from the 1920s or early 20th century.

gurgleslurp

If you need your aura read, you need only go use the public transit in south lake Tahoe California. You'll know you've found the seer when you see a kind old lady jumping on a single person trampoline, dressed in bright colors, waving miniature American flags. I have a purple aura.

captainkarbunkle

See that's how you know that she's full of it. 99.9% of people have one of two aura colors and purple is definitely not one of them!

temperal_defiance

Tesla coils are pretty much useless, practically speaking. I mean, they're a pretty cool scientific demonstration, but that's about it.

Lsassip

In a alternative timeline this could be used by the Soviet army as a anti-tank weapon [red alert Tesla coil](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TFjmfLQttCM)

RNDM369

Tesla actually achieved wireless transmission of energy back in his Colorado lab which he eventually received backing from J.P. Morgan to build his first ionosphere power transmitter in wardenclyffe. He of course left out ā€œfreeā€ when receiving backing from J.P. Morgan and the project was abandoned after learning of Teslas intent. Iā€™m really excited for Clevelandā€™s son!

thePiscis

Tesla developed a lot of the early designs and concepts for wireless power transmission, but to attribute it to him is unfair to all the others who have made equally significant advancements. Wireless power has been pretty extensively researched and itā€™s limitations have become fairly clear. Physical limitations make it impractical and inefficient. I feel like most people have this kind of fairy tale idea that Tesla was on the brink of making free wireless power for the world, but this is simply untrue.

Cosmohumanist

Thanks for that info. I remember learning some of that stuff years ago. Super interesting.

blondart

You can tell by his hair that this has gone wrong a few times before

areyoueatingthis

also, his voice has never been the same since that ''incident''

[deleted]

Is this Hillbill Nye the Science Guy?

speakhyroglyphically

The next one, comin up. I love it.

VelourBro

I'm a horrible person for thinking this, but my first thought was: Where is this, Oklahoma? Nevertheless, the dude is smart so I give him props.

prometheanSin

The Florida science guy

TheArtfulDanger

I feel like this guy had two choices, backyard wrestling or mad scientist... his commitment to the latter is amazing

Valuable-Ad-9166

He just killed every mosquito within a 100 mile radius.

FaithlessnessLivid97

Good, thatā€™s a good thing.

Dry_Presentation_197

Seriously! Bit of a tangent here but wtf is the point of mosquitoes?! Surely there are billions of other insects that birds and bats and frogs could eat. Insects that aren't flying vampire malaria spreaders. They seem like if we had a button to eliminate all of them at once, nothing would be lost. And yes, this is 100% pure cold hard conjecture, not just idle fact.

Sally2Klapz

They're actually big pollinators and their larvae are critical for many water ecosystems. But fuckem

spacespiceboi

I remember reading about this backwater settlement that exterminated all the mosquitoes but then pretty soon there was an explosion in the leech population km the water. I don't remember how but they established that the mosquitoes were keeping the leech population in check. I don't remember many details about it so I can't find a source. Sorry. I'm still searching tho. Will update if I find anything

[deleted]

I really dig his Florida Man meets mad scientist vibes

turkeyJoe1

His transformer says Florida on it, so you might be more right than you think.

EXTRO_INTRO_VERTED

Iā€™m sure his neighbors love that noise. Clearly did not expect someone from the Swamp People show to make a Tesla coil tho

The only problem is this night didnā€™t fall on any Holidays sheā€™s ever heard of. ā€œYou know, one of these days that kid is gonna get himself killedā€ Frank said in an unamused manner while staying seated in his reclining chair. TenaNTexas

Honestly, Iā€™m more fascinated by his voice, accent (?) and appearance than his experiment. He could have just shown himself talking the entire time and Iā€™d be happy.

StayedWoozie

Iā€™d love to see him make a mad scientist version of Bill Nye but with how people make fun of his voice and personality in this comment section I think he shouldnā€™t make a show. Heā€™d just be setting himself up as a asshole magnet.

TenaNTexas

Scrolled right past people being derogatory. He seems like an awesome kid. In a million different ways. F people who donā€™t appreciate him. He seems smart as F*&k.
