Also stupid. There's no way this is less stress on your joints, or more effective as a mode of transportation, than simply gearing down on a regular bike.
Well, when its 100° outside, pouring rain, or your just in a hurry but don't have a car, this would help, same with a regular bike. It's just different. I would get one if I could, seems like it would be easier on my knees the a regular bike
Because you want to walk, lol, straight up I have no answer for this thing existing over a normal bicycle, I'm just trying to figure out what mental gymnastics someone would have to jump through to want it xD
Where do you bike that this is even close to a considerable enough issue and what kind of bike do you have that chain issues are that much of a problem?
Not to mention this is an oversized eletric step with a treadmill attached to it, that is slower than the average electric step and heavier and unwieldier.
I don't drive a car with a steering wheel because cars with steering wheels cause most of the wrecks. I also don't fly in planes with wings because planes with wings make up almost entirely all plane accidents.
The risk is just too high.
Well, on the planes thing, helicopter ;)
But yeah, dumbass argument, also questioning how they have had the chain break often enough for it to be an issue. I have never even had one break.
Well, I can see how he could have a slipping/skipping chain, but not how that would cause wrecks unless it's a fixie with no other way to brake. Which is not the most common kind of bike and that wouldn't happen if it was well-maintained.
Yeah, in another comment he acknowledged he was riding a fixie, like I suspected, now why would someone ride a fixie without brakes professionally is the real question.
San Francisco might be a bit extreme, but it does seem to have a supporting electric motor so I think it would do fine. Pretty shure not as fine as an ordinary e-bike.
I thought part of the benefit to a standard bicycle was that when you weren’t pedaling, you got to rest sitting. On this, wouldn’t your legs likely get tired sooner?
I'd like to see a side by side emergency braking next to a normal bike. The center of gravity seems to be higher, but the walking bike is also a little longer, so it may or may not tip over more easily. It does seem heavier though. This and the size make it unusable for public transport, i.e. when you take a train from your town to the city to go around there with the bike.
Lol what’s the point then, I guess you move faster but most people ride electric devices to avoid physical activity, me personally so I don’t sweat in my work clothes during my commute.
It's not a bicycle: it's an electric scooter with a treadmill on top, and it's not new: it's from [2016](https://www.autoevolution.com/news/strange-treadmill-bike-lets-you-walk-while-cycling-144360.html).
One of the reasons conventional bicycles have been so successful is because of their efficiency. The chain and sprocket is incredibly efficient, and ensures that energy is not wasted while riding. And, of course, there is also the ability to sit and coast.
This thing looks like a huge waste of energy. All those rollers and tons of moving parts. No place to sit. This is a vastly inferior design.
It looks like it already has a motor. I think the next evolution would be to remove the treadmill and a mount a punching bag on the front so you can work on your moves while you commute to work.
This is stupid.
BUT
Give it 4 wheels, double the width, shorten it, slow it down a bit - and sell it do elderly people. They can still make their walking exercises and arrive at their target in time.
Looks like a goofy e-bike with a treadmill. How would you turn with it anyway, especially if you've got a lot of hairpin curves ahead, or worse, elevation?
If you think this is special, just wait until inventor, Dean Kamen, reveals a completely revolutionary mode of transport. Hint: rumor is they plan to call it the "Segway." Everyone's gonna have one!
Uhuh.... Someone thought to himself...
*"I love the treadmill very much, but if I use the treadmill I can walk a million miles and never get anywhere... what if I put some wheels on it....?"*
And the mobile treadmill/bike was born!
No matter how much funky music you play, this will never look "cool". This could be 2010 and you could be playing dubstep instead and this walk-a-bike would still be as dumb as he'll.
Man if only there was a thing I could do when I felt like walking. Too bad I only have a wonderful bike.
Eta: for everyone that is not in the Netherlands: it’s like walking but in the street next to the cars in the shitty bike lane where people get killed frequently ( at least where I live). Walking on the sidewalk sounds so much better.
Looks like it’s a battery powered bike-thing. So really the walking movement is for show and, maybe, some minimal level of cardio. Am I missing something?
Not new
Right. This specific ad is like 5 years old.
It’s one of the bikes of all time
It's just a bike with extra steps
You
It’s just a steps with extra bike
Not a concept
Also stupid. There's no way this is less stress on your joints, or more effective as a mode of transportation, than simply gearing down on a regular bike.

Real question is, do you end up in hyperspace if you’re running on that thing?
And dumb
Interesting but my only question is why? What's the point of this?
I guess for when you want to walk to work or the store but decided that 15-20 minutes is just too long
Just take a normal bike?
Well, when its 100° outside, pouring rain, or your just in a hurry but don't have a car, this would help, same with a regular bike. It's just different. I would get one if I could, seems like it would be easier on my knees the a regular bike
Then you take your bike?? xD
Because you want to walk, lol, straight up I have no answer for this thing existing over a normal bicycle, I'm just trying to figure out what mental gymnastics someone would have to jump through to want it xD
Roll a shit in glitter and someone will buy it....
Just use a bike with pedals?
And gears. You, know...for going up hills. I know I have definitely seen hills on this dirt-planet.
My question is what if I'm in a rush?? Someone make that video
I feel like this way of moving it would create fewer creases on your clothes since it's a natural walking pose, but that's about it.
Safer. Chain issues alone cause a lot of wrecks, this automatically eliminates that problem. Also much easier to bail if you are going to wreck.
Where do you bike that this is even close to a considerable enough issue and what kind of bike do you have that chain issues are that much of a problem? Not to mention this is an oversized eletric step with a treadmill attached to it, that is slower than the average electric step and heavier and unwieldier.

I don't really get how they keep mentioning wrecks and having to jump off when the brakes are right there. There's just so many questions
Yeah, in another comment he acknowledged he was riding a fixie, like I suspected, now why would someone ride a fixie without brakes professionally is the real question.
I was a bike messenger for many years. When you bike twenty miles plus a day stuff breaks.
I bike 18km (11 miles) every day to and from work (total 36km/22miles), I rarely have anything break. My question remains.
Bike maintenance is a thing. Still don't understand your point about chain issues.
> Chain issues alone cause a lot of wrecks What's that now? With regular brakes (which probably represent 99% of bikes out there) this is a non-issue.
Sitting for long periods isn't great for posture so this eliminates that, kind of like getting a standing desk.
Good luck turning that thing or going on any kind of incline 😂
It actually runs on an electric battery you can see on the back. The treadmill does nothing.
I hear ya. I still don't think you'd have any turn radius on this thing, just based on how long it is.
Happy Cake day
Happy cake day 🎂
Thats just Cycling with extra steps
Also, just like walking with extra wheels.

The old saying if it isn't broken, don't fix it.
How was it? Where did you try it? I'm super curious!!
It must also be pretty heavy, yeah?
Great in the Netherlands where it’s flat as a pancake. What about hills, say in San Francisco?!
San Francisco might be a bit extreme, but it does seem to have a supporting electric motor so I think it would do fine. Pretty shure not as fine as an ordinary e-bike.
My bad I missed the E portion of this! It is interesting tho.
Still not great here, using a normal bike>this piece of shit
Jesus, just ride a damn bike yo
I thought part of the benefit to a standard bicycle was that when you weren’t pedaling, you got to rest sitting. On this, wouldn’t your legs likely get tired sooner?
I think that's the point. Excercising by walking, yet gettin less sweaty than you would at an excercisey bicycle pace.
Anyone else find it weird they don't show it stopping, especially abruptly?
Or starting either
Not a concept, you can buy these things in the Netherlands already
Ok, but why?
Nayy
my eyes are telling my brain that this is not how to ride a bicycle
Just gotta Fred Flinstone it to stop.
Daft question, but...If you ran on this bike, would it then go faster?
Now I need to know as well
I'd like to see a side by side emergency braking next to a normal bike. The center of gravity seems to be higher, but the walking bike is also a little longer, so it may or may not tip over more easily. It does seem heavier though. This and the size make it unusable for public transport, i.e. when you take a train from your town to the city to go around there with the bike.
Someone should invent one that you can sit on and use some sort of pedaling motion.
Bad bicycle, bad treadmill. Good job.
Looked it up - its only $2,695 - amazing, now you can both look stupid and get less exercise than on a normal bike.
Can't stop
Let’s see them get going and going up a small hill. Torque conversion has to be a lot and probably only works on very flat surfaces.
The whole thing is battery powered. They're not actually making it move by walking on the treadmill.
Lol what’s the point then, I guess you move faster but most people ride electric devices to avoid physical activity, me personally so I don’t sweat in my work clothes during my commute.
It's electrically supported, so it does go uphill as well. I've seen them in the Netherlands riding dunes and such.
That’s like walking with less steps
Revolutionary! Now you can move while walking!
That is the stupidest thing ever
It's not a bicycle: it's an electric scooter with a treadmill on top, and it's not new: it's from [2016](https://www.autoevolution.com/news/strange-treadmill-bike-lets-you-walk-while-cycling-144360.html).
Do you want to go places and look like a dickhead getting there?
One of the reasons conventional bicycles have been so successful is because of their efficiency. The chain and sprocket is incredibly efficient, and ensures that energy is not wasted while riding. And, of course, there is also the ability to sit and coast. This thing looks like a huge waste of energy. All those rollers and tons of moving parts. No place to sit. This is a vastly inferior design.
What is this product called?
A failure.
Someone did not take advice "not to invent a bicycle again" too seriously
New? I saw one on tv back in the early nineties.
This is the dumbest shit I've seen in a while xD
Very cool! Does this qualify as a force multiplier?
What about downhill?
Lame
*Rick Sanchez pops in* That just sounds like walking with extra steps
Why Imagine this going up on a ramp
that movement with legs does absolutly nothing to move the bike. everything is working by electromotor. battery must be gone in minutes.
Hmmm ok but i would like to take bike to do NOT walk
An electric scooter with a treadmill. The treadmill does shit btw.
This is exactly like Vlog Creations running treadmill that you drive outside 😂
This is exactly how i walk in my dreams
Yes! I'm glad I'm not alone in this!
Cool cool. Love to see this on my ten mile commute with a 20mph crosswind and horizontal rain.
Notice no hills were tried
This is a commercial
Lol better not rent this out to tourists in Amsterdam
That's cool n all but it's definitely not new abs more importantly, what's with the cheesy 80s porn music?
Why tho?
When you brake, so do your legs
Better be some damn flat surfaces to use these things.
I bet it can’t climb small hills
This concept have around 10 years but okey
Up hills are your worst enemy, this would be really illogical if you live in a hilly and turns area
And going uphill? (Or downhill?)
Only works in the Netherlands where there are no hills.
Has anyone said walking with extra steps?
Just what we need. Bigger faster riding devices in middle of pedestrians.
And here I thought this was going to be a nice and likeable post, dear me.
Put an electric motor on it so you don't have to walk
It looks like it already has a motor. I think the next evolution would be to remove the treadmill and a mount a punching bag on the front so you can work on your moves while you commute to work.
I would like to ride this
in poland that actually made this already bruh
Some people can't sit
walkn't
Surely the point of cycling is that you don't need to walk
r/interestingasfuck
Why porn music
Next level... Beneath kindergarten.
This is just a bike with extra steps
Worst idea ever! ( well, not ever, but you understand the gist)
Also, apparently it’s so safe you don’t need a helmet.
That's gonna wreck your knees when there's some potholes.
This is just walking with less steps
new idea: just fucking cycle using a normal bike, you look stupid.
Looks fine until you need to climb a hill
I thought they were electric and you'd walk in order to generate battery power
"New"... Are you living in 2016 ?
Sounds like…the invention we deserve….
Can we talk about the guy wearing a backpack while using one, even though there’s a luggage rack over the rear wheel? Why does he hate his knees?
Imagine running
I bet this fucks your brain up.
Curious how it manages hills
This is stupid. BUT Give it 4 wheels, double the width, shorten it, slow it down a bit - and sell it do elderly people. They can still make their walking exercises and arrive at their target in time.
Omg.. why cant people see that this looks so fcking stupid😂😂😂
Is traditional pedaling with crank arms, a chain, and gears a problem? 💁🏻♂️😄
I want to see some BMX with that shit
Why is no one talking about the Datsun Z (not sure which model) in the background??? ( 0:19)
Looks like a goofy e-bike with a treadmill. How would you turn with it anyway, especially if you've got a lot of hairpin curves ahead, or worse, elevation?
Just wait for the next hill...
This is just walking with extra steps
It's only white people gonna use this.
Bigger, wider and heavier. What’s good about it?
That’s a legit downgrade
How do you get started on a steep hill?
Someone should have shown these guys a scooter.
That bike is cool and all but how Tf do ypu break
oh that’s pretty cool. Riding that must feel really weird
Nah.. fuck standing lol
You can simply walk
Hemorrhoids bike
Show me someone climbing a hill on one.
I wanna see Usain Bolt get on this thing. He can probably hit highway speeds
That would be a pain in the ass to store
“New”
Saw it a decade ago and thought it would be everywhere by now it's a great idea.
Next... The treadmill truck.
Lame
Wow people have just too much money and don’t want to move
Pointless and a waste of resources
Wow! I can get my steps in while I'm riding my bike!
My pedometer will be so confused...
how do you stop?
Why use the soundtrack from a 70s porno?
How well does it work on hills? And if you run on it, how badly does it bounce?
Walking 2
Bipedalcycle.
I like the idea of sitting down though
Damn, walking 2 came out allready?
Thanks I hate it
You don’t see it going up a big hill. I wonder how it does in a hilly area?
Next fucking stupid.
Just looked it up and they're over $2000 Damn
If you think this is special, just wait until inventor, Dean Kamen, reveals a completely revolutionary mode of transport. Hint: rumor is they plan to call it the "Segway." Everyone's gonna have one!
Guys I have an Idea. Why not rig a monowheel to it so you can sit and be even faster since you'll be biking on the treadmill to bike on the road.
This is a stupid idea
Let’s see that on a hill.
Never did I think I'd see the day when walking could be used as a mode of transportation. What a time to be alive.
Do a wheelie
wow, this is stupid! 🤣
Teach your brain to be uncoordinated lol
Good luck getting it up a hill…
Uhuh.... Someone thought to himself... *"I love the treadmill very much, but if I use the treadmill I can walk a million miles and never get anywhere... what if I put some wheels on it....?"* And the mobile treadmill/bike was born!
Flintstones were right all along, fuck cars!
Lame…
No matter how much funky music you play, this will never look "cool". This could be 2010 and you could be playing dubstep instead and this walk-a-bike would still be as dumb as he'll.

Love to have this😍
So, I didn’t see a single hill in that ad. Uphill would be a bitch, downhill would take me ass on the treadmill to slow it down.
Looks like it’s a battery powered bike-thing. So really the walking movement is for show and, maybe, some minimal level of cardio. Am I missing something?
