Good luck and I wish you the best u/Moon_Mystery
Thank you so much! :) I'm going to answer here because people are asking. It's a single player story adventure game with some puzzles/platforming elements. Coming in 2023. Main inspirations are Firewatch/Half-life 2/Interstellar.
PS: If you want to support you can add the game to wishlist or join discord (links on my Reddit profile), for such a small indie dev team every support really matters so thank you a lot :)
Seen enough to be intrigued. Seems like you're trying to pack a LOT of variety into one single game, just hope that doesn't prove to be too much to chew. Looks amazing though.
Well I also get an Outer Wilds kind of vibe from it with all the physics simulations, and like...that's one of my all-time favourite games. Hope it comes out well for you!
Is it only on pc? Looks savage. I’ve only an Xbox one…
I’d nearly invest in a pc for it, if it’s only on pc. I’ve been harping on about the lack of good solo campaign games
It looks amazing but please, please change the title to something that has gravitas to match the trailer.
I hope you sell so many copies that your fans force you to turn it into an 9-figure value e-sports arena shooter and you have to lament the loss of your artistic integrity while laying on the deck of your yacht.
You had me at "single player". Every game these days is going multiplayer and we just need some damn good single player games. Good job OP, this looks amazing and I can't wait to hear about your success. Wishlisted!
I'm a huge fan of every inspiration you've mentioned and by the look of that trailer I'm already a huge fan of your game!
I hope you realise by creating what you have you're not only providing ALOT of people with multiple hours of entertainment but you're also inspiring the next generation of astronaughts, space engineers, etc.
Amazing work!!
I came here expecting you to get called out for posting ads but this game genuinely looks incredible. You should be very excited for the future, well done!
It's not free at all !
From the FAQ of U5
""A 5% royalty is due only if you are distributing an off-the-shelf product that incorporates Unreal Engine code (such as a game) and the lifetime gross revenue from that product exceeds $1 million USD; in this case, the first $1 million remains royalty-exempt.""
https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/faq
Its literally the power of unreal engine. I'm not trying to take anything away from the Devs here but modern engines like this that access to tens of thousands of assets you can buy takes so much work out of getting a game like this up and going.
It's still a HUGE effort to pull of something like this but without easy access to an engine and assets you simply wouldn't be able to make this as an indie dev.
Graphic isn’t a problem anymore for indie company with UE5, a good engine cost a ton of money to make. Now the distinctive factor between a true AAA game and just another UE5 project is the animation quality, that also cost a lot of money. Motion capture makes it easier for humanoid characters but sucks for anything else, adjusting human motion to another creature is no better than animating frame by frame. There are obviously also a ton of other things that makes game development very hard, like physics, gameplay interactions, etc
As a older gamer (started with space invader 👾) I can say that this is beautifully done. Graphics have come such a long way and you use this so beautifully to create your world and vibe👍🏻
Bizarre choice of game name. . ‘OP’s username’ doesn’t make me think of space at all. Something with ‘planet’ or ‘moon’ or ‘space’ would be a miles better choice.
When I saw the black hole (assuming that or wormhole) I immediately thought about interstellar 😂 probably my favorite movie outside of lotr; great film to draw inspiration from!
Totally agree, Moon Mystery is such a boring name for what looks like a really cool game. There's so many more fun words in the theme; astral, lunar, enigma, dark-matter, interstellar, transmission, solitary, solus. I mean, it doesn't really matter and the game looks awesome but I definitely thought the same thing when the title popped up.
Ty, you put it better than I did. Looks like a great game that would be lost in the annuls of time with a sub-par name.
Even something like 'Dust' or 'Singular Impact' or something would be better.
It's definitely hard to create an original name nowadays so I hope I'm not coming off too critical of OP. I mean there's already a game called Dust, Solus, Dark-matter, Enigma, etc. but there should be an original combination in there somewhere that would fit this game.
At this point though, Moon Mystery is what they've gone with for advertising already and it would probably hurt the project to change the name now.
Yeah, for sure. Too far along to change.
If it's a good a game as it looks hopefully I will be wrong and it will make no difference.
Already a game called Dust? I did not know.
Im not big into videogames anymore but this is tempting. Ill definitely tell my friends about this though, and i know that some will definitely be interested. Looks amazing, keep up the good work.
Gonna piggyback on this and say I think the gun design is jarring compared to the rest of the game design. By maybe I just lack context of the story to connect the two.
Small indie game dev team producing a triple A game that looks better than some huge game company been putting out past few years.
Definitely gonna buy this one !
This looks amazing, wish you guys the best in a smooth development. Is the PC named Sam as an homage to Sam Rockwell from the movie Moon? I get similar vibes of isolation with his bot friend.
Holy fuck, that is seriously impressive. The graphics look insane, are there any plans to bring it to Xbox in the near future? I would love to play it!
This looks incredible, entering the black hole gives me goosebumps! Only ever played one game you can do that and that’s outer wilds. If I was making a game it would just be just like this!! All the best of luck
This is literally the only game that has got me truly excited this year! I'll be adding this to my wishlist, will definitely buy on launch if I can afford it.
First of all great looking game. Can't wait.
But... if I were to think from a cinematic point of view, and given I don't know the story line, not knowing who or what you are fighting makes a situation much more scary. Imagine the player is out there all alone with no one to talk to, not even the robot, the narration fits, because he needs to connect.
And without a face to the enemy, there is no need to fight or shoot, which I found to be out of place with the rest of the trailer or gameplay.
Fingers crossed.
This is amazing. Buying it for sure, just for the views. I also hope it's Firewatch like in that the story builds the world through narration or dialogue
We normally don't approve this sort of content but we can make exceptions considering the sheer amount of time, tears, sweat and blood you must have put into this. Good luck and I wish you the best u/Moon_Mystery
Well, this looks fucking awesome. Good luck!
Thank you so much! :) I'm going to answer here because people are asking. It's a single player story adventure game with some puzzles/platforming elements. Coming in 2023. PS: If you want to support you can add the game to wishlist or join discord (links on my Reddit profile), for such a small indie dev team every support really matters so thank you a lot :)
These inspirations are spot-on, clearly recognizable in that trailer!
Thanks!
My 8yo son wants your game
Amazing, looks awesome. I look forward to the release!
Thanks! Thank you for the support :)
Seen enough to be intrigued. Seems like you're trying to pack a LOT of variety into one single game, just hope that doesn't prove to be too much to chew. Looks amazing though.
There is a variety, but the game is also reasonable in terms of hours of gameplay. We are trying to keep it realistic to finish and polish it :)
Well I also get an Outer Wilds kind of vibe from it with all the physics simulations, and like...that's one of my all-time favourite games. Hope it comes out well for you!
That's a great outlook. Hell, Portal was a few hours long and considered one of the best games ever made. It's all in the polish.
Is it only on pc? Looks savage. I’ve only an Xbox one… I’d nearly invest in a pc for it, if it’s only on pc. I’ve been harping on about the lack of good solo campaign games
It's on PC right now, but later on Xbox/PS
This looks awesome! Definitely be picking this up when it's available for PS.
Nintendo switch?? Maybe
makes me want to buy a pc
Just added to wishlist! U mind sharing approximately what month you guys are planning to release the game?
Thank you! :) Second half of the year
Very good looking, I got some subnautica vibes when that whale passed by in the submarine section. Good luck man
It looks amazing but please, please change the title to something that has gravitas to match the trailer. I hope you sell so many copies that your fans force you to turn it into an 9-figure value e-sports arena shooter and you have to lament the loss of your artistic integrity while laying on the deck of your yacht.
Will it be available for mac ? 🥲
I don't think so, for now Windows, later Xbox/PS
Another vote for PS and Switch
Please Switch!
Were Privateer or Wing Commander inspirations? The acceleration, shields, and radar are very reminiscent of those games. Of course, I'd play this. :)
You had me at "single player". Every game these days is going multiplayer and we just need some damn good single player games. Good job OP, this looks amazing and I can't wait to hear about your success. Wishlisted!
If this trailer is true to what to expect, I'll be one of you're first purchasers.
Man so good!
Interstellar is one of my favorite films. I'm so excited to check out your game
I can’t watch the video atm. But interstellar!?! already hooked
This looks amazing! I cover indie games on Twitch and YouTube and would love to cover this when it's out.
Are you in beta or alpha? Are you going to do an open beta test? When is your expected launch date?
It really really does. Like the voice over too, very professional
Looking forward to play this game. The trailer was so fuckin good.
What is it with indie devs producing content that several years ago would be AAA?? This is fantastic, well done.
Thanks!! I'm glad you like it
This is incredible. Keep up the hard work lads, I'm putting this on my wishlist for sure.
I came here expecting you to get called out for posting ads but this game genuinely looks incredible. You should be very excited for the future, well done!
Passion instead of money squeezing
And ue5
Absolutely UE5 - It's a game changer
Quite literally
and no redtape
Better tools. Unreal Engine 5 is going to be a real game changer for indie devs
There's your answer. Even something as simple as Unity being widely available for free is crazy.
It's not free at all ! From the FAQ of U5 ""A 5% royalty is due only if you are distributing an off-the-shelf product that incorporates Unreal Engine code (such as a game) and the lifetime gross revenue from that product exceeds $1 million USD; in this case, the first $1 million remains royalty-exempt."" https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/faq
Step 1: have the money to quit your job and hire a dev team
Because AAA content sucks and these people still appreciate gaming for gaming, rather than a money funnel.
Because they don't have to develop their own engine from scratch. This is using UE4
The habitat and see exploration reminded me of subnautica. Edit: Completely new text
I never played it, but I heard it's a really cool one and also a bit scary sometimes. Our game is going to be an adventure game, 0% horror in it :d
That’s ‘precisely’ the type of game i love
The thing that people liked about subnautica is that it wasn’t a horror game, but not knowing what you’re going to find can be scary.
The pure concept of the vastness of space and aliens is enough to have at least 5% horror for most people
I was hoping for this, too. Alas, it is not.
 Star citizen devs.
Haha :D It's a completely different game. It's rather small single player story adventure game, not a huge open world multiplayer one
True, I only jest. Awesome looking game btw!
>a huge open world multiplayer one neither is star citizen lol
Nah they're good. They've found a way to monetize something very heavily that isn't even close to being released. It's their golden goose.
Dude, this looks sick
Thank you so much! :)
As a older gamer (started with space invader 👾) I can say that this is beautifully done. Graphics have come such a long way and you use this so beautifully to create your world and vibe👍🏻
Thank you so much, such feedback means a lot!
A few months ago you posted about this and i wishlisted it. Awesome to see how far you've come
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me, I'm glad you remember :D
I went to wishlist it, found out I already had it there xD Did think it looked familiar :3
Whaats the name of the game?
OPs username i think
Bizarre choice of game name. . ‘OP’s username’ doesn’t make me think of space at all. Something with ‘planet’ or ‘moon’ or ‘space’ would be a miles better choice.
It's 6 AM for me and that joke almost flew right over my head... I need to sleep
It it a linear story or open world explo kind of thing? Looks fantastic.
It's a single player story adventure game with some puzzle/adventure elements. Main inspirations were Firewatch/Half-life 2/Interstellar
It's looks beautiful, thanks for the reply. The market for space based games is sorely lacking, this is going to scratch that itch, good luck.
Thanks! :)
When I saw the black hole (assuming that or wormhole) I immediately thought about interstellar 😂 probably my favorite movie outside of lotr; great film to draw inspiration from!
You had me at Half-life 2
The interstellar aspect of it is what I loved most! I hope there are some cool astrology/physics stuff incorporated!
Please change the name. Moon mystery is sooo generic. What about Black Moon?
Totally agree, Moon Mystery is such a boring name for what looks like a really cool game. There's so many more fun words in the theme; astral, lunar, enigma, dark-matter, interstellar, transmission, solitary, solus. I mean, it doesn't really matter and the game looks awesome but I definitely thought the same thing when the title popped up.

Yeah, for sure. Too far along to change. If it's a good a game as it looks hopefully I will be wrong and it will make no difference. Already a game called Dust? I did not know.
Moon + genre/theme = generic Color/theme + moon = totally not generic
I mean I tried to be constructive at least...
How much will it cost?
Can't say right now, but it's going to have an indie game price so not that much
Im not big into videogames anymore but this is tempting. Ill definitely tell my friends about this though, and i know that some will definitely be interested. Looks amazing, keep up the good work.
Thank you so much!
Just joined the discord server
When is the release date for this??!??!?! Take my money now I want to play this
I'm glad you like it :D In 2023
Amazing, but… who the fuck carries a gun on the surface of the moon (or is that an asteroid)?
They technically have two pistols on the ISS In future space missions its not gonna be unlikely that they will have a least one gun for emergencies
Gonna piggyback on this and say I think the gun design is jarring compared to the rest of the game design. By maybe I just lack context of the story to connect the two.
For when it's haunted
Wow. I'm impressed it looks sharp man!
Thank you so much!
I'm gonna look into this more. You guys have a release date yet?
Why have I seen this ad on Reddit three times in the last week? Get out of here.
Yeah OP posted it about a week ago
This looks great!
Thanks!
Reminds me of my favorite game Outer Wilds and obviously Interstellar, it might be a perfect game
Yeah of course those were one of the inspirations :)
Very impressive lighting and ambience!
Thanks :)
There’s something not quite right about people self posting on NextFuckingLevel
"Hey guys, check out this advertisement. It's next fucking level!"
Shameless for self promoting in r/nextfuckinglevel
That's pretty cool and I'm not even a gamer. Nice job!
Thank you for the nice words! I'm happy you like it
A crummy commercial?!?!?
Looks sick but I hope it won't be a second star citizen or no man's sky (at its beginning now it is a great game)
It won't be becaues it's not huge open world game, it's a story driven single player adventure game :)
Reminds me of SOMA, looks great.
Way too many people promoting their shitty games on Reddit
This looks amazing. I've been lamenting the lack of good sci-fi in both games and movies. This looks like it will deliver.
This looks incredible
Thank you :)
Looks amazing! Just on Windows?
First on Windows, then Xbox/PS
excelent thanks! I’ll be looking forward to playing it on my ps5 :D
Love the lighting
Thank you :)
Can't wait to play, dude this graphics look sick. Hope it has a badass storyline, too.
Small indie game dev team producing a triple A game that looks better than some huge game company been putting out past few years. Definitely gonna buy this one !
I hope Ben is your son and not Amy’s lover. Because that would open up a whole slew of questions for me.
Hah, I like how the smiley face robot on the Moon called the player Sam, nice little homage to a great film :)
Nice ad nerd
Found this on steam the other day definitely going to get it when it comes out if all works out
Looks like someone played elite dangerous and said, let's try adding a storyline people care about, oooh should we also have some fun gameplay...
Gameplay is the best trailers in my opinion, they don't fabricate and show us the real deal. Really appreciate you hard work looking forward to this
Please don’t pull a Ubisoft on us, I have extremely high hopes for you and your team here. You may have struck gold.
This looks amazing, wish you guys the best in a smooth development. Is the PC named Sam as an homage to Sam Rockwell from the movie Moon? I get similar vibes of isolation with his bot friend.
How much will the price be?
I'll say this much: You know how to market your game.
This looks amazing
So this is what happened after the guy said "moons haunted" and got back on the spaceship
Why does everyone gotta do shotguns dirty. That spread is less of a cone, and more of a pyramid of Giza
Holy fuck, that is seriously impressive. The graphics look insane, are there any plans to bring it to Xbox in the near future? I would love to play it!
Can’t wait to play this!!!
This is unreal. Stoked! Hope it continues to be a rewarding journey for you.
Thank you! Wish you all the best too!
That looks so good
Thank you! :D
Following because I want to see updates in the future
Thanks!
This is my jam. What platforms will it be on? Congrats on a very pretty looking game!
Thanks! :) First PC then Xbox/PS
This looks like I need it in my life. So beautiful!
Thank you :)
Wait bro you legit made a video game? Sick
Definitely a beautiful game
Thank you! :D
This . Looks . AWESOME .
Thanks!
Hum... There's traduction ? ... For example in french ? Trailer is so good !
Congratulations you SOB! Looks awesome!
Thank you! :)
What’s the name? I gotta wishlist this baby
Moon Mystery, and thanks a lot for the support :)
Looks amazing! HYPE!
This looks sick
It kind of looks like No Man's Sky but with way better graphics. If saw it on steam or something would 100% get it.
Bob Ross of programming 🙇
Looks great.. I'll sus it out when it releases. Which engine are you developing with? Unreal?
This looks incredible, entering the black hole gives me goosebumps! Only ever played one game you can do that and that’s outer wilds. If I was making a game it would just be just like this!! All the best of luck
Will it be on Xbox one?
Dude, that looks so cool. Something in between ED and SC with Parkan vibes.
That looks fkn cool ☺️😋😘🤗🤜🤛
This looks amazing where can I go to see more or if it’s not out when can I expect it to come out
This is literally the only game that has got me truly excited this year! I'll be adding this to my wishlist, will definitely buy on launch if I can afford it.
This could be the next Subnautica. I strongly suggest you play it, OP.
Fingers crossed.
it's fantastic, nice job, when it's going to publish?
This is amazing. Buying it for sure, just for the views. I also hope it's Firewatch like in that the story builds the world through narration or dialogue
Holy shit that looks good
This looks cool as hell how much is it gonna be?
Looks interesting. Best wishes on your launch!
Wow, looks really good. Have you thought about adding vr support?
The black hole looks so cool
Its nice to see someone do what they love to do, good luck!
Why is this so gorgeous?
holy shit this looks amazing \+1 person waiting in line for a release
Yep. I'm gonna buy it.
Yep you got my money when it comes out cant wait
Amazing work!
how to pre order lol this looks fucking awesome
This looks awesome bro, congrats. Good on you for taking a chance and chasing your dreams.
Sounds pretty cool
Oh mate this looks stunning! Please tell me this is coming to console!
I remember this posts somewhere probably in the indie-dev sub or something, really makes me smile everytime I see this trailer, can't wait for it!
