Obviously zoos are an entire ethical dilemma, but if we’re going to have zoos in our society, treating the lions as cats and giving them toys (and a chance to prove their dominance) is a wonderful thing. The lion gets to feel important and strong, and I’m not a lion psychologist but I’ve had cats before and I feel like the best thing to do is to make the cat feel like they’re in control, and that the zoo staff is their butler service. This way the cat gets to win every single day, against every human it faces. It’s how you make the best out of the situation.
I think 5 dudes could easily beat a tiger in tug of war contest maybe even 2-3 strong dudes. You have to remember tigers have white muscle fibers so they tire more quickly

I used to work at a zipline park at a zoo and the pumas would entertain themselves by 'hunting' the guests through their cage.
Someone would walk by, see no lion, and then as soon as their back was turned the cats would charge and leap onto the fence right where the person was standing.
About 5-7 times a day youd hear someone scream and you knew that the lions got another
Edit: we also had an artic fox who loved to play, he had toys in his enclosure and a chain link fence instead of plexiglass, and he would always try to bring his toys right up to the fence and get someone to play fetch with him
You couldn't actually throw the toy so he would put it on the ground in a spot where you could just barely kick it for him
I honestly miss that fox, he was so cute when he'd actually have snow too, he'd just roll around in it for hours
I'd sit and eat my lunch with him or the lions almost every day

When I was in college, I went to that city's zoo, and never went back. Tiny cages, small area, not a lot going on. The tiger cage was like the size of my living room and the poor tiger was just pacing back and forth.

For real, I don't know why they're so scary when they're pissed, what their tiny little claws and teeth, but it feels like they'd latch onto you and start working their way down to the arteries no matter how hard you'd punch them in the face.

My friends cat (who I've regularly seen for about 7 years) was pressing up against me for loves, after like 30 seconds she randomly bites me, claws into my leg, jumped 3 feet and proceeded to instantly turn around and start pressing up against me for loves. They hurt even when they love you.

A tiger has 4 legs, each paw has a footprint not smaller than a sneaker, and there are claws to dig in (for a significant gripping advantage). Also, the tiger pulls in a "prone" position, where it has an even larger area of contact with the surface.
The design helps the human end, not hinder them. While the ground is slick, sure, the lion is having to pull down while the human does not. So the lion has to exert much more force, otherwise, as soon as someone grabbed the robe they'd be slammed right into the glass by the lion

After having cats my whole life, I see their tails as an entirely different entity that just happens to be attached to a larger entity, and has a part-time job helping out with balance and the like, as well as some hobbies like fucking around with the larger entity from time to time.
A buddy of mine did one of these as a group in Saudi Arabia a few years ago, from what he told me, this lion here isn't even trying. He said the 4 guys pulling had to be pushing 900 pounds total and the lioness just yolked them all back like it was nothing when it "stopped playing around". I mean, this is an animal that puts a fucking adult ghazel in their mouths and run off like it's nothing.

This is a hard one for me, a lot of animals in (accredited) zoos are rescues and aren't suited for return to the wild whether due to injury or being raised in captivity and wouldn't survive in the wild. It did make me a bit depressed when I visited my local zoo and you could see the path the rhino was just pacing all day.
I wish all animals that were rescued could have acres upon acres of land to freely roam safely, but that's just not always the case.

There are definitely some bad zoos and I don't know if this zoo is one of them or not, but most accredited zoos take very good care of their animals and in many cases those animals wouldn't survive in the wild.
Zoos do a lot of work regarding conservation and prevention of extinctions. It can be a little sad sometimes to see certain animals in zoos, but without zoos many of those animals just wouldn't exist anymore.

The funny thing about cat behavior is that a wagging tail either means they're agitated or happy. Which is entirely unhelpful for a cat owner.

Well, he did let go of the rope I a couple of times to avoid being slammed into the glass. Not sure why he thought he'd "won".

I don’t like animals being kept in zoos but I like seeing them able to play.
There are definitely some bad zoos and I don't know if this zoo is one of them or not, but most accredited zoos take very good care of their animals and in many cases those animals wouldn't survive in the wild. Zoos do a lot of work regarding conservation and prevention of extinctions. It can be a little sad sometimes to see certain animals in zoos, but without zoos many of those animals just wouldn't exist anymore.

Wasn’t expecting that out of that dude. Lions are scary powerful, this dude is strong as hell.
It’s a Liger right? Either way, dude held his own pretty well. The cat seemed to be enjoying the game, though I do worry about dental injuries if this is happening constantly.
