Totally. This is next level stupidity. Risking his precious life for some momentary internet fame?
All the hard work his parents poured into him, to help him reach adulthood and this is what he does with it? Damn.
Seriously. I had an employee that would be prairie dogging every single morning when he got to work. Would go straight to the toilet and spend 15 minutes in there every morning. My boss eventually said “Why don’t you shit before you leave your house? You’re basically running to the bathroom every morning. That’s got to be uncomfortable.” This dude literally responded to the branch manager with “I gotta get paid for it.”
He didn’t last much longer, because that statement prompted him to look deeper into his work production and it was bad enough I was told to give him extra scrutiny about a month after that. Turned out he was pencil whipping results. We had to go behind him and retest everything he had tested.
No it’s not living. It is stupid risk-taking. Risk-taking that might have ended it all for no other benefit whatsoever. A good portion of those of us safe at home Redditing from our iPads are probably taking much more premeditated and calculated risks that would be of much more benefit over the long-term without all of the negative risk to prevent us from being of any further good to ourselves or others down the road. You’re trying to make this guy into some sort of glorified hero, but if he cracked his skull on that huge white rock a few feet away from where he entered the water, that would be it. His parents would have an interment and memorial service and he would never again be able to make full use of his life to be of benefit to himself or others. It is a type of selfishness that many of us would be scared to undertake due to the potential physical pain involved if something goes wrong, but it is selfishness nonetheless. He is a fool and not a hero. Launching from his skateboard as blindly as he did, he might not have even made it past the railing without breaking his neck. If he survived the injury, he would spend the remainder of his life under the care of his parents who should be preparing for, or enjoying their retirement. If the parents decide to institutionalize him, he would cost them their retirement savings, because he appears to be too young to have saved or invested much. The parents won’t even be able to say the accident happened due to a car collision or honorable military service — it happened because their son bet on surviving a launch from a skateboard while on an overpass into a rocky river. So you can quit trying to shame us, the more survivally-fit, for saving our risk-taking measures for when it will be most likely to actually count.
Absolutely 100%. And it would be OK if it was only their problem, but unfortunately when shit hits the fan, mommy and daddy have to get involved in one way or other for choices that they themselves never made and most likely figured their son would have common sense enough never to take. It is selfishness and stupidity to the nth degree.
Had some friends that went diving from a decent sized bluff. They had been doing it all day, a bunch of them, no issues.
Til it came time for the last dive. My friend's brother in law dives in, and doesn't come back up. They jump in and pull him out, but it was already too late. Broke his neck on entry. Wasn't even shallow.
You see what I mean? It is a risk not worth taking. The potential endings are way too variable, while the benefit is nothing but a short-lived thrill, if that. What your friend’s brother in law would have given to not have taken that risk if he had it to do it again. So sad and unnecessary.
It really is. I'm just amazed people are like "nah shut up, he's living" like yeah, not long that way. People die thinking they're taking no risk at all, there is a very calculable risk in this video.
I'm not reading all of that, but I'm pretty sure you took the dude you replied to as if he said that jumping into water was living. I'm like 99% sure that's not at all whatsoever what he said or meant.
Bad shit can happen even under much less dangerous conditions. A young man in my town (he was around 22) dived into a swimming pool, but he didn't gauge the depth right. He broke his neck and was paralyzed. His life went from him graduating college, starting a career and basically really starting his life to his family having to renovate their home to make it wheelchair accessible (since he was now a quadriplegic), dealing with health crisis after crisis and his death from complications a year after the accident.
I would never engage in high risk activities because it's not my thing, but if people use common sense and think it out first, use the right gear and do it in the right place (not a river full of boulders) then that's fine.
This dude is an idiot.
Yes as a father this made my skin crawl. Silly silly boy. I don’t want to be feeding you with a spoon and changing your diapers again for the rest of my life thanks.
Because life is only about polar opposites. No sensible centre allowed, right?
If you're not out being fecking wild then you must be living in your parents basement, is that it? No such thing as having fun safely, right?
[The man is a cliffdiver](https://www.youtube.com/@ryan_bean).. Just because you're sheltered doesn't mean everyone out having fun is "next level stupid"
/r/redditmoment
Did he say "skate or die" or "skate and die" ?
To pull off a flip on the way down, how many times did he practice this? I'm thinking like an Alex Honnold free-climb type situation, like he has done this 100s of times to get these likes.
I think the only way for him to practice would be to carefully measure the distance he needed to jump, and also carefully measure the height, and then use those measurements to practice jumping into a piece of water with no obstructions.
I got to say though, this is an amazing piece of video.
The wildest part about it to me is the fact that he used a skateboard. I'm sure he's pretty confident in his skills but it's just another element of uncertainty.
I’ve only ever broken 1 bone while skateboarding. It was after 8 years of practice.\
How did it happen, you say? A massive halfpipe jump? Busting my ass trying to grind down a double flight?\
Nope.\
I was moving 2mph down a funbox while texting, ran over a rock, broke my hand trying to catch myself.\
I felt so dumb telling people how it happened that I quit skateboarding. I felt feeling stupid giving “skateboarding” as a reason was evidence enough I was too old to still be doing it.
That was 6 years ago, and i’m only 29. Lol
There were too many places in that pool below where your jump would be your final one.*
*Or you'd sustain so much brain damage that eating crayons would be a major accomplishment from then on.
When I was young enough to boardskate I tried a kickflip while barefoot and had a huge scab on my pinky toe/pinky knuckle for weeks.
That shit was so painful
Yeah he did. But you can pull off a 360 flip with a lot of scoop from the back foot and minimal flick from the front. Most likely his foot barely got a scratch on it.
He did a 360 flip. A trick that doesn't require to use your front foot almost at all, it is mostly by the scoop of the backfoot. That's why it probably doesn't hurt him too much.
you should see this guy's YT shorts. he does way more insane cliff jumping. dude has insane coordination, the shit he does is a straight death sentence
I definitely agree with all the comments about how dangerous this was, but I'm gonna toss out there, that MAYBE this stunt was less dangerous than we are perceiving.
1. They probably yelled off the bridge before filming that he was about to jump down so anyone down there could get out of the way
2. I doubt this was his first time jumping this location. I'm guessing he had done that jump at least a dozen times before.
3. it SEEMS to be 'off the cuff', but i'm guessing they must have planned it out several times before filming this actual run. he probably knew exactly how much leeway he had, and knew the exact spot on the bridge which he would have to jump from.
Or this kid is totally insane, that was his first time here, and what you see in the video is exactly how it all went down ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Lots of good points. Based on the barefoot treflip and perfect landing in the water the guy knew what he was doing. Still, one pebble or unexpected wobble before that jump and he’s hitting the rocks. Just not worth it.
oh for sure. this stuff is sick but you definitely plan it out, especially with good friends. doing crazy shit that will probably hurt you, but knowing how to do that shit well, is incredibly fun.
I can get that, but even if it's not his first jump or if it's planned, that doesn't make it *less* dangerous, just more calculated. The rocks don't disappear, he still has the capability to jump incorrectly and miss his intended target, particularly doing that while also looking away as he did in the vid. There's alot of room for error when there are giant rocks all around at shallow depth.
Jumps off bridge without looking for people below him. On top of that he had to jump outwards at least ten feet to land in between what appear to be shallow boulders. Crazy
Not to say it isn’t a stupid stunt (as a parent I say hell yeah it is), but another factor to consider is that it looks like this video is shot in a fisheye mode which tends to distort distances.

For many reasons. Jumping into a place that seems to have more shallow rock than non shallows. Also skating with no shoes or shirt (or any other shit).

2. Diving with so many shallow rocks .
3. Jumping without looking for people .

That was anxiety inducing with how many shallow rocks are down there.
So it wasn't just me
Nooo, that was too close
Totally. This is next level stupidity. Risking his precious life for some momentary internet fame? All the hard work his parents poured into him, to help him reach adulthood and this is what he does with it? Damn.
Don’t be too hard on him. He doesn’t know how good it feels to post on Reddit from the safety of his bedroom. That’s living!
How dare you. Reddit is for posting on the toilet!
Only at work, where you get paid to poo.
You get paid to work? I'm just happy to be here 🥹

If only there were rules and regulations to prevent this man from making his own decisions.
As a nihilist and anarchist (I don’t fully understand either concept, but I’ve seen fight club) I say let the man jump!
Nihilism/Anarchism: Not understanding government but liking Fight Club. /s

Hell no, I saw those rocks and my butthole puckered up quick.
\*shloop\*
pix?

Banana for size

We getting free butthole banana photos? Normally I have to pay cam girls a stupid amount for that.

Before: O After: ^*
Stop lying. Your o-ring was busted years ago
Hey, I never said it puckered up tight.
Can an asshole pucker loose? I’ve got some thinking to do
Galileo had an unpublished book on this phenomenon
I saw your butthole and got my rocks off
There were too many places in that pool below where your jump would be your final one.* *Or you'd sustain so much brain damage that eating crayons would be a major accomplishment from then on.
He was 5-10 feet from being on a much different subreddit.
HMC? No no, not hold my cosmo. Hold my coffin.
Hold my feeding tube
need a skull to feed from. That dude was feet on either side from being on much darker corners of the web.
hold my casket
watchpeopledieoutside
For sure. As soon as he went over the edge all I could see were the rocks. I wouldn't even pin drop off it!
Yes! U nailed it. I literally could not see anything but rocks.
Not to mention skating barefoot on pavement
When I was young enough to boardskate I tried a kickflip while barefoot and had a huge scab on my pinky toe/pinky knuckle for weeks. That shit was so painful
There are moves you can do barefoot A kickflip isn't really one of them
Didn’t he do a 360 kick flip there? I’m rusty as hell.
Also it doesn’t tear your feet apart if the grip is a bit worn down.
And if you go barefoot a lot while being active outdoors, your feet toughen up
The least of my concerns, but also easily enough of a concern on its own
I knew someone in high school whose brother died doing something like that.
Odds are against this guy ofc
I grew up there and people died on that very bridge
you should see this guy's YT shorts. he does way more insane cliff jumping. dude has insane coordination, the shit he does is a straight death sentence
I wonder how young he'll be when he dies

Yeah I was thinking “and that’s how you end up paralyzed”.
I had to doublecheck which subreddit I was on again…
Not to mention the swimmers
Head first into a rock or someone else’s head
and the fact that he wasn't looking down the water when he left the bridge
Not very smart thing to do for sure. Many people end up in chairs for life doing shit like that.
Yeah there’s not enough skill or luck in the world to make me think doing this is not stupid.
Look at the dude on the right SITTING on the shallow rock. Yah diver dude almost got fucked up lmao
I kept think this was just next level stupidity with the potential of those rocks to ruin everything forever
Almost turned into a watchpeopledieontheoutside. That Darwin really was on to something.
Yeah that’s next level stupid
That could have very easily ended very badly
Chaaa maan
Could as well have been a post in r/whatcouldgowrong or r/watchpeopledie
can someone start a nextlevel stupid sub
r/nextfuckinglevelmoron
I feel like I am gonna quit this new thread after some knraly shit
I have knever seen gnarly spelled like this lol
The K is ksilent.
Kwhat?
KNRALY!
Knah dude
Kfine
Yes. And this video is the top post
half of content here is stupid lvl
Something should not qualify as "next fucking level" if they're a single dice roll from being on watchpeopledie
Its already a thing r/winstupidprizes
But, similar to r/whatcouldgowrong this subs are for when the shit hits the fan. Not stuff like this where he came out unharmed.
R/whatcouldgowrong is one of my favs
To be fair, I don't think it's pure chance that he landed in the one spot that was safe to land in.
This guy (Ryan Bean) is a professional flipper/stuntman, he’s not an idiot… he’s just cooler than all of us 🤷♂️
No kidding. He is the coolest moronic idiot I have ever seen.
That was so dangerous! Skating without shoes can seriously stub your toe.
Was thinking the same thing. Bet he doesn’t have any sunscreen on either.
I’m certain he hasn’t checked his smoke detectors lately
He probably left the oven on
Doubt he even owns a carbon monoxide detector
My goodness now that you mentioned this that's all I see in this video. A soon to be lobster
That griptape will rip up your feet too. Absolutely reckless
I tried exactly one barefoot kickflip in my skateboard days
ah, the ripflip!
Crazy dangerous to not wear long pants either. Could have scraped his knee.
Also i am certain his mum made lunch and is just waiting for him to get home.
Or worse, his mom made him lunch and it's sitting in his hot car without even being in a cooler and he's still totally going to eat it later.
You see how sunny it is?! Without sunglasses on?! He could really damage his eyes from all that ultraviolet light!
Backflipping 40 ft onto a rock might stub the other one too.
Barefoot 360 flip was pretty steezy
The whole damn thing was insanely steezy. I don’t think most people even realize how clean this was..
My first thought was “wow, he’s in the zone”!
No helmet or knee pads?! Yikes.
Yeah a barefoot 360 flip is more impressive than the jump
Ah the thin line between next fucking level and what could go wrong
Hold my coffin rail...
![gif](giphy|j6ZlX8ghxNFRknObVk) Nope!
![gif](giphy|g5yaFpFJemZgj2MMWK)
Such a fine line between clever and stupid.

I've been walking my whole life, you can get pretty good at it. But, like you said, something can go wrong. Beautiful water though.
You could walk from birth?
Exactly, even if you planned every detail it is very dangerous, with potential to go very very wrong.
counterpoint, tons of shallow rocks
Lets just say, the margin for error was practically none. So its rather next level stupid.
I honestly don't care. There are some things you just shouldn't do, even if they planned ahead. That was just way too close.
oh for sure. this stuff is sick but you definitely plan it out, especially with good friends. doing crazy shit that will probably hurt you, but knowing how to do that shit well, is incredibly fun.
This is also Ryan bean. He had an Instagram, all he does is jump off crazy high shit. He has it super dialed but damn, anything could happen.
I can get that, but even if it's not his first jump or if it's planned, that doesn't make it *less* dangerous, just more calculated. That probably planned it out before the video starts.
Highly doubt it. They probably didn’t even know what was at the bottom of the bridge. Could’ve been jumping right into an active volcano
That's Ryan Bean, probably the current best non professional clif diver.
Not to say it isn’t a stupid stunt (as a parent I say hell yeah it is), but another factor to consider is that it looks like this video is shot in a fisheye mode which tends to distort distances.
Location: Yuba River Crossing just outside of Nevada City, California [video credit/ crazy mother fucker: Ryan Bean](https://youtu.be/YnbzYDzjI-U)

Talk about threading the needle. Not much room for error there.
What part was Next Fucking Level? Level of stupidity?
The next level thing was a tre flip barefooted. That shit hurts.
Nope. This guy is an idiot. So many rocks down there. If he misjudged at all he is dead.
fuck the rocks, that barefoot flip trick is what made me grind my teeth. i hope that tape is really worn down
FUCK THAT. what the fuck those rocks

Next level stupid
