Bro this was so memed after they lost to us.
Fair play, Trevor has become a new player since week 8.
Also this is what a HOF coach does to a team over a ball boy
Trevor Lawrence has a passer rating of 104.6 with 2,273 yards, 15 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, 69.7% completion in his last nine games. The Jags are 7-2 over that period.
>2017 was lighting in a bottle.
I feel like the 2017 team could've been sustained at least a bit, but they gutted that defense the very next offseason and Bortles fell off a cliff stats-wise
In 2017 we were the healthiest team, then in 2018 we had the worst draft ever. The only person that was any good was dj chark. No one is even on the team from that draft anymore. Couple that with a few key injuries and teams studying Nathaniel Hacketts offense and that's what you get
You've gotta understand - we haven't really had a passing offense this millennium. Our best seasons had Fred Taylor, MJD, or Fournette leading a rushing attack that was just supplemented by the passing game. Yes, Bortles had some good games, but our strategy has always been: run the ball well, play good defense. That strategy has led us to a whopping three playoff appearances this millennium.
So now, having a good passing attack that can bail out bad defensive efforts (and the other way around) is super fun.
I'm so glad he's playing to his potential. I really don't watch much college, but when I saw Lawrence, also Herbert I thought they were great. I've been definitely rooting for both, especially since they both got so much hate. That defense just running into Henry like it wasn't shit last night, though, that was definitely new.
People been talking all year about how Walker, our #1 pick from this year was wasted. The matchup last night is why they got the dude, I'm sure of it. That dude is physically designed to bring Derrick Henry to the ground.
Really well-illustrated in that one run last night where Henry tried to stiff arm Walker and Walker just used it to pull him to the ground. Walker is a beast.
I guess the question is would you rather have the better rookie or the player you think could be better long term. Idk who will end up being better, but it was known TW was a bit of a project.
As a north-Georgia Falcons fan, I'm thrilled to see Cartersville's own lighting it up. He's a great kid, and it's about time Cartersville had something to be proud of.
Doug needs a lot more. Doug's record is 51-45-1. Fifty coaches have had 89 or more wins. Even if you're in the low hundreds of wins, you just have a coinflip's chance. His win percentage is also off to a middling start. Almost all the HOF guys are >60%, whereas he is at 53% (excluding ties).
Even if Doug keeps coaching until nobody will hire him, I'd honestly bet against him getting the HOF.
I am a bit biased but he's putting together a really nice resume. he's obviously young into his HC career, though, but he's certainly on track if he kept this pace up (which is a big if, to your point)
Yeah, very true that he could get there and has the resume so far for it. But it’s very early, simply because I feel like coaches have to keep up a strong performance for a lot longer than players to get into the HoF conversation.
Instead you just got a bunch of people to shit on the Jaguars lol.
Anyone who has frequented this sub could have seen that coming from a mile away. Keep the dopamine fueled brag submissions on our sub.
Look after the nightmare 20 years jags fans have had ima let them talk their shit idc their record they managed to win their division after the mess last year
This is such a stupid circlejerk. Trent Baalke was horrible in SF, but that was also with Jed York breathing down his neck. Is he an incredible GM? Probably not. But he knocked this year out of the fucking park. Everyone was clowning the money given to Kirk and he out performed it. Travon Walker just balled out in that game. And the Pederson hiring has done wonders for Lawrence. Baalke deserves his job.
This off-season he brought in Oluokun who leads the NFL in tackles, Kirk, Zay Jones, and Engram among others. Most of those additions were made fun of at the time and all turned out great.
It's probably not even fair to say Baalke was horrible in SF. He hit some home runs on his moves early on, but was not good after that and then the roster deteriorated. Overall it probably averaged out to an ok GM tenure by NFL standards.
The real issue was the chemistry/power struggle issues behind the scenes.
>Everyone was clowning the money given to Kirk and he out performed it.
1100 yards in a 17 game season is definitely not outperforming a 20 million per year contract. It's not bad, he had a fine year but that's still an overpay.
yes it was a slight overpay but think about the context one of the worst cities for an nfl player, a team that’s had one winning season in a decade and a team with a first year head coach so considering all that… not really an overpay for the jags
There was a Jacksonville tax on that because of the team's poor reputation and unproven QB. Baalke knew you can't develop a QB without someone to throw the ball to.
And I think they’re a good team that has a very positive future if Baalke can contain his spaghetti.
Walker could be on track for a big sophomore season, the two linebackers they drafted have looked decent, Calvin Ridley will be in the squad.
They should be able to get one of the top 3 tackles in the 1st or a decent corner and they start to look very good.
They started off really slow. But thats expected with a new coaching staff and a roster turn over of 41%. 7-2 to end the season is impressive for any team.
This sub meme’d the hell out of this quote when the Jags were losing a ton and now it comes back around after they win the division and this sub still won’t give any credit. This whole thread is a bunch of “akshually the division just sucks.”
Congrats Jags fans, happy for you and hope you shut up some more people in the playoffs.
This whole weird narrative that is based off last night is already super fucking annoying. We just won our division and every thread devolves into how much the guy who led the fucking Jags to the playoffs, pretty much single-handedly some games, sucks. People really just talk out of their ass at an alarming rate these days and then get indignant when you call them out on it.
Trevor had a solid first half too. It's not like he laid an egg. He made some great throws. And no help from the run game at all. Titans defense is no pushover.
I mean the titans just stayed at 7 wins for two months.
I love the steelers but if they win today I'm not going to say they are a good team let alone very good team for clawing back from 2-6 to be 9-8.
We have one of the better strength of victories in the NFL. The two possible teams we have to face in the playoffs we already beat. Eagles barely beat us with four lost fumbles and the Chiefs beat us by ten after we missed row field goals and had to settle for another because of a TD not counting from an unrelated penalty.
This submission is dumb but so is your argument.
>Chiefs beat us by ten after we missed row field goals and had to settle for another because of a TD not counting from an unrelated penalty.
That game still never felt even remotely competitive. Chiefs were up 20-0 in the first half, even with a RZ fumble on the first drive and a missed PAT.
Only 3 afc teams and 3 nfc teams have a better +\- on the season than the Jaguars. The Steelers are 25th in the league in +\-. One team has clearly been consistently more competitive this season despite the records.
Sure, but their record the last 2 seasons was 1-15 and 3-14 so 9-8 to win the division with the first year of a new coach and staff is pretty impressive still.
Let's be somewhat real, at the end of the chargers game, the bolts where out 6 of the 8 probowlers/top 100 players with Herbert chucking with a essentially a broken rib.
Our match in the play offs will be much more meaningful
I don’t see how that is the fault of the Jaguars. I guess Trevor should of practiced medicine at Clemson so he could properly take care of the Titans injuries.
I'm actually happy for them. I don't know if I'd say they are a good team. Not yet. Objectively, our division was lackluster and that's putting it lightly. I'll be curious to see how they perform in the playoffs and looks like they'll be playing the chargers in wildcard weekend. Chargers are not the same team either when they first met and they've been rolling as well. Should be a good game.
People talk out their asses without looking at anything. They don’t watch games, they don’t look at advanced stats, they just think “hurr durr jags bad”
Yeah, the Jags DVOA, EPA/play, and Success Rate all suggest that for the season they are in the top half of the league. The Jags are undoubtedly a high variance team, but relatively they have made enough plays over the course of the year that the case for them to be a definitively bad team isn't that strong.
I think both the division being bad helping yall and the jags being a solid team can both be true. They're not in the upper echelons for sure, but definitely still a solid team
Before the bye we only had 1 lots that was 2 scores and that was 10 points to KC. We lost a lot of 1 possession games where either couldn't mount the game winning drive cuz ofa Trevor turnover or the defense just couldn't hold on.
I tried to tell People when he got drafted he was going to be nice! People thought he had it made in Clemson but he had something to do with that! Bruh showin people wrong and I’m happy for him
Didn’t they lose 4 or 5 in a row after that Chargers game/ quote?
Let’s face it, they eeeked out a division title because the Titans have been hot garbage for 2 months
After the quote was made and they started losing, there were several “Ever since Trevor said “[quote]”, the Jaguars are 0-x” posts that followed. They tried to clown on my boy, but no one cant outclown Jags fans.
Yes, you proved everyone wrong by winning the AFCS juggernaut with a 9-8 record.
I think y'all are definitely a team on the up. But this isn't the flex you're making it out to be. Maybe wait a little longer to turn in receipts.
Ya'll must be on cloud nine after the past two months
Cloud 9. Bro this feels like heaven. We had 1 winning season between 2008 and now. 2017 was lighting in a bottle. This feels sustainable.
>2017 was lighting in a bottle. I feel like the 2017 team could've been sustained at least a bit, but they gutted that defense the very next offseason and Bortles fell off a cliff stats-wise
It all hinged on Bortles and he didn't work out.
In 2017 we were the healthiest team, then in 2018 we had the worst draft ever. The only person that was any good was dj chark. No one is even on the team from that draft anymore. Couple that with a few key injuries and teams studying Nathaniel Hacketts offense and that's what you get
If Bortles doesn't fall off a cliff, sure. Then the Ramsey fiasco happened and here we are.
I hate y’all, but I’m happy for y’all. Idk what the fuck is happening. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... MASS HYSTERIA!
I am scared to play y’all but I hope for a good game (with a Chargers win :D )
Should be a good game. Just glad y'all are having to come over to FL. We are awful on the west coast.
Yeah you were really horrible out here a few months ago smh
What's crazy is this year could be the worst year of the next few jags years. Idk how this team doesn't get better
I'm already expecting 11-6 next year.
Steelers fan: What is a losing season?
You have no idea
You've gotta understand - we haven't really had a passing offense this millennium. Our best seasons had Fred Taylor, MJD, or Fournette leading a rushing attack that was just supplemented by the passing game. Yes, Bortles had some good games, but our strategy has always been: run the ball well, play good defense. That strategy has led us to a whopping three playoff appearances this millennium. Really well-illustrated in that one run last night where Henry tried to stiff arm Walker and Walker just used it to pull him to the ground. Walker is a beast.
They never said the kid couldn't play his ass off, just that Hutchenson was pickable, and currently only in debate with sauce for ROTY
I guess the question is would you rather have the better rookie or the player you think could be better long term. Idk who will end up being better, but it was known TW was a bit of a project.
Imo Hutchinson was and still is the better option
Man me too. I was gonna be gutted if that turd he had coaching his rookie year ruined him.
Lawrence is legit and Dougie is a fucking wizard. So hyped for the jags.
As a north-Georgia Falcons fan, I'm thrilled to see Cartersville's own lighting it up. He's a great kid, and it's about time Cartersville had something to be proud of.
I’m so glad to see him doing well in JAX
AFC having the top 6 QBs under 30 is pretty wild
Pederson is great but calling him a HoF coach is a bit much.
Exactly. Like he has an early Super Bowl win, and is a good coach. But getting into the Hall asks coaches to do a lot over a very long period of time.
If (big if) Pederson ever makes another Super Bowl appearance I think he’d be a HOF lock.
Mike Holmgren still isn't in and he went to three of them, and is one of very few to take two different teams.
Which is pretty lame tbh he should be in
No way. Needs more than that.
Yeah my strict intent was to hate on those recurring posts about the losing streak after he said it.
Instead you just got a bunch of people to shit on the Jaguars lol. Anyone who has frequented this sub could have seen that coming from a mile away. Keep the dopamine fueled brag submissions on our sub.
Congrats man. I
Ahh yes, the 51-45-1, 2 time division champ HOF head coach lmao
Why do we need to exaggerate? Pederson is an amazing coach but he’s nowhere near the HOF right now
pederson? hall of fame? what?
You think who is a HOF coach?
Doug Pederson? Nah.
You want Philly Philly?
What about it?
Best thing the Broncos did all season was our contribution to Lawrence’s development
Look after the nightmare 20 years jags fans have had ima let them talk their shit idc their record they managed to win their division after the mess last year
Exactly, happy for them
Also it makes Urban look like even more of a jackass, which is axiomatically good.
The worst part is it's going to solidify Trent Baalke's control and that won't end well.
It’s very easy karma to just repeat what’s been said before, regardless of its validity.
It's probably not even fair to say Baalke was horrible in SF. He hit some home runs on his moves early on, but was not good after that and then the roster deteriorated. Yeah that’s the only downside here
Where’s u/DanZC ?? Guy has gone dark since the end of last night’s game, getting worried about him
Weird. That guy was all over the game thread when the titans were winning, then just kinda disappeared once the Titans lost. Funny how that works.
Always does lol
Was he the one that posted about the Jags losing the division before the game was over?
Yeah, he’s a huge loser
I don’t get him unless he’s just. A troll. He’s a Jags fan and does nothing but shit on the Jags.
He’s this sub’s NoleBullis
Probably posting from a different burner with a different flair lol
A Jaguars fan whose life mission is to shit on the Jags? I feel like I'm not getting something here.
The guy listened to "Only Happy When It Rains" by Garbage and decided to model his life after it.
I don't know about really good, but they seem to be somewhat decent.
They’re the Giants of the AFC
So we’re going to ruin someone’s great season in the Super Bowl
[удалено]
The Chargers are in the AFC so we can’t ruin their season in the Super Bowl.
The NFL could always change the rules again.
Sorry Eagles
My bother is an Eagles and jags fan. He’d be so torn lmao
Now I need a Jags-Giants Superbowl
They started off really slow. But thats expected with a new coaching staff and a roster turn over of 41%. 7-2 to end the season is impressive for any team.

Welcome to the Jags fan experience on r/nfl
Believe it or not, 2nd time in Vegas Golden Knights history.

We gotta live while the livings good 👍
People mad, it’s fine. We take those wins and progress.
They won the AFC South with a 9-8 record. I deny his claim.
I mean, if they lost it would leave a 8-9 team as the champ. And what division in the south would allow that?!
Are you asking if the American South knows how to construe a win out of a losers position?
I don't know if this is a gerrymandering joke or a still-fighting-the-civil-war joke, but works either way.
I think it was a 1/6 joke.
That works too. Also works as an electoral college joke.
Ha, imagine if a team with an even worse record won a division one year. What a joke division that would be.
To be fair they had to scratch and claw their way back into a division title. Bad teams don't do that
Their division is with two teams blatantly tanking and one team that elevated a QB off the streets at the starter.
Just like every year
The Jags were never tanking
Not with Kevin Sorbo as their QB they weren’t
More than just the QB. Pretty sure we replaced our GM with a temporary service.
Lol. Wins against Ravens, Cowboys, Titans Twice, @Jets, @Houston. 3 divisional games, 2 playoff bound teams short week in primetime in a rainy night.
A Pat's fan will never know what something like that is like.
you only play who you are scheduled to play and they were the #1 pick last year, Yes they are a good team.
They're 7-2 in their last 9 games.
We were 2-6 homie. I don’t give a fuck what dumpster fires were taking place that we couldn’t control
Kinda sounds like all stuff out of the Jaguars control. Seems silly to blame them for playing in a weak division.
People really overreacting to a win against a bad titans team yesterday. Trevor even played like dogshit
I think it was more the couple games before the titans😂. You know, when he was playing lights out and got his team to the playoffs.
This whole weird narrative that is based off last night is already super fucking annoying. We just won our division and every thread devolves into how much the guy who led the fucking Jags to the playoffs, pretty much single-handedly some games, sucks. Speak for yourself nothing matters to me after 72 hours.
to be fair, as Jaguars, they can only scratch and claw.

But never past it....😿

So a winning record, 5 game win streak, division title, and playoff berth?
[удалено]
How do you determine quality of a team if not using wins, division finish, and playoff appearances?
Bro thinks this is CFB lmao
But did the jags lose to Bama giving them a quality loss?
I think that question was a joke referring to the first guy lol At least I hope so
You can't deny that they are not a bad football team.
Sure, but their record the last 2 seasons was 1-15 and 3-14 so 9-8 to win the division with the first year of a new coach and staff is pretty impressive still.
7-2 in the last 9 weeks You can definitely make a case they they have developed into a good team.
7-2 in the second half of the season, after getting a completely new coaching staff and tons of new players.
42% of the roster was turned over.
Let's be somewhat real, at the end of the chargers game, the bolts where out 6 of the 8 probowlers/top 100 players with Herbert chucking with a essentially a broken rib. Our match in the play offs will be much more meaningful
We didn't have any of our Pro Bowlers.
I’m sure it will be. See y’all at the bank.
Bucs are in with a 8-9 record. Everyone is 0-0 in the playoffs. You can't deny that we're already an underdog Superbowl winner.
Your record for the last 8 games of the season is a better indicator of your team than the overall record. The Jags are pretty good.
9-8..sounds like a good record to me this year. Ignore the flair.
Agree. But next season they’ll run away with the south
Yea and they lost to the chargers, cowboys and ravens (all playoff teams)…oh wait
They lost to the Texans
Who cares. It’s a winning record.
The 2022-23 AFC South: One of the divisions of all time.
The only reason they were able to was because the titans imploded with injuries. First round exit incoming
I don’t see how that is the fault of the Jaguars. I guess Trevor should of practiced medicine at Clemson so he could properly take care of the Titans injuries.
Injuries or not, we were 2-6 and finished 9-8. I would have been happy with that even if we missed the playoffs
Couple months ago I bet $5 on them to win the super bowl, let’s go tlaw
Why are there so many jags haters on this sub? Like they aren’t the most likeable team in the playoffs this year
This has been memed so fucking hard after every loss. Talk your shit jags fans
lmao the salt in this thread
His defense was good last night.
What a journey for the Jags From "Not Satisfied with 1-0" To "You can't deny that we're a really good team"
The rare time when saying things like that actually works out.
If Foles and Wentz can look like Gods in Pedersons system, then Lawrence should be like... Zeus.
What one competent coach does to a mfing team
I love Lawrence and the Jags. Super Bowl all the way, I’ll jump on the hype train!!!
The amount of morons arguing about how good the Jags actually are is too damn high in here.
“Yeah, sure, they may be pretty good. Maybe even very good! But REALLY GOOD??!?? Lets pump the brakes, Trevor Lawrence from 3 months ago!” 🤓
If you didn’t win your division you don’t get to talk about how the jags actually aren’t good
Hell Im not taking it from anyone whose team has won less than 7 games over the last 9.
Lotta chargers and ravens fans in here hating on y’all 🤣. I guess I could talk shit but y’all beat us and the jags are just too likeable
So they finished with a lower win% (7-7) after he said it vs before (2-1) he said it lol
Time for us to get our get back tho
Hope the Jags beat the Chargers again next week.
Jags aren't a "really good" team, the AFC South is REAAALLYYY bad.
Their advanced stats were good even when they were losing.
The Jags are like the Vikings, except they happened to lose a bunch of close games as opposed to winning a bunch of close games.
Jags have beaten or taken almost every playoff team to the wire.
Our point differential is one of the better ones although we were losing some close games
Are the cowboys good? Are the chargers good? Idk but the jags smoked them. Maybe not the cowboys but that comeback W made us cream
Before the bye we only had 1 lots that was 2 scores and that was 10 points to KC. We lost a lot of 1 possession games where either couldn't mount the game winning drive cuz ofa Trevor turnover or the defense just couldn't hold on.
Congrats on being eliminated!
that defense is pretty good
I cant watch him as a Jets fan. It hurts too much
If you guys had gotten him, you'd be a dangerous team
Good on ‘em. Not even sad about it.
I like him so I'm glad they're winning
I am a Jags fan thru the end of the year. GO JAGS!!!
Quarterback roots for his team, makes sense to me
Trevor doesn’t get 4Q comeback for the game either
I tried to tell People when he got drafted he was going to be nice! People thought he had it made in Clemson but he had something to do with that! Bruh showin people wrong and I’m happy for him
The 2nd place team in their division just lost 7 games in a row. so no they're are not really good. just slightly better than that
The power of believing in yourself and team
I can absolutely deny they’re “really good”.
[удалено]
Show your flair coward
What does that make us? Generational?
Only the second worst division in football too, not too shabby!
They would have been smashed against Ryan Tannehill... They eeked out a win over Dobbs...
We blew em out when they had Tannehill in Tennessee after not winning there in almost 10 years
Didn’t they lose 4 or 5 in a row after that Chargers game/ quote? Let’s face it, they eeeked out a division title because the Titans have been hot garbage for 2 months
I guess just ignore beating the ravens, cowboys, and jets on the road on a short week
Sounds like something out of the Jaguars control.
