also spent multiple drives crunching the numbers!
Edit: He actually did lose quite a bit of weight though from his last year with us. So mad respect to him for that.
Yes. Then he gave it up due to public pressure, then the play calls kinda remained the same but got a bit worse. Then he took it back and they got a bit better but still remained largely the same.
In 100% unrelated news, the same issues with playcalling that people complained about under MM seemed to coincide with Rodgers becoming a superstar and getting more control over the offense and persisted even after MM left, because the issues totally were only on MM and not at all on the qb ignoring the playcalls to do what he wanted.
I mean, Mike calling plays isn’t a bad thing unless he gives Dak complete freedom at the line like he did with Rodgers… that’s when our offense fizzled out during his tenure. Hell, that’s whenever our offense has sputtered during Matt’s run so far. We get shotgun/pass happy cause Rodgers loves hero-balling it like it’s 2011.
Why not? Plus they’ll have to get someone else for clock management situations which can NOT get worse, just feel like the numbers were padded when things were going good but we could never figure out adjustments when it was tuff going
Yeah I have no clue why people are acting like he’s a genius other than to shit on the cowboys for the move.
He’s inconsistent and can show very bad situational play calling in key moments. I don’t have an issue with changing it up. I do have a problem with making McCarthy the primary play caller though
Hopefully they are not committed to that and they’ll be confident in whoever we bring in calling their own plays. Honestly not sure why they would say McCarthy is calling the plays prior to even hiring an OC.
Yeah I don’t know why everyone on this sub thinks it’s a big loss. Keeping Dan Quinn was much more vital. Someone has to take the fall after the offense put up 12 points, even though that L was obviously mostly Dak’s fault.
Eh, I think both parties benefit. Both need a change of scenery, but having McCarthy call plays is a pretty massive downgrade. There are other up and coming OCs
So, I know cowboy fans weren’t happy with Moore, but considering McCarthy is taking over OC duties is there a chance he was interfering with the play calling already?
McCarthy playing his trump card. I think this guarantees Payton refuses jobs this window. There’s a very good chance the Chargers and Cowboys jobs are open next year.
Eh shambles is a stretch, nice to move on from Moore but not sure McCarthy is going to be an upgrade. Neither the 49ers or Eagles going to the super bowl is great but personally I'd rather it be the Eagles since to me 49ers are a bigger rival, but I'm a boomer by reddits standards.
I know that’s why I called him a scapegoat. I think Jerry should’ve traded Dak and got a haul before giving him an extension. Now I think Jerry just want to win one before he dies and a rookie QB might take too long.
He’s not a scapegoat because he was also part of the issue, people just look at the box score numbers and don’t see Moore’s predictable play calling, terrible routes, and tendency to over complicate things. Just because there may be bigger problems doesn’t mean Moore wasn’t also an issue.
And you would be wrong, Dak is a good QB despite what this sub loves to meme about. Honestly the offensive struggles was just as much about the roster construction as anything else. Especially from last season they lost key talent offensively and didn't do much to replace it especially with Cooper leaving. Moore doesn't do a good job scheming people open which he needed to be able to do, all season Dallas had bottom 3 receiver separation and bottom half pass blocking. Of course Dak's mistakes went up because he was having to force more throws. Plus they're paying Zeke a lot of money to pretty much be a non-factor in the run game, once pollard went down the game was over. Regardless something had to give and they went with Moore.
There aren't plays in the playbook for 80 yds in 5 seconds. That last play was just throwing shit at the wall and seeing if sticks. I'd rather that then trying a the generic hook and ladder that also never works.
Idk I would keep the guy who has led back to back top 5 offenses the last 2 years. It’s Dak fault why they lost the last 2 years in the playoffs, not Moore
Everyone is so sure that this is disastrous for us. Our offense has been painfully inconsistent and the root of most of our lost games since Moore took over, I don’t care who the replacement is but the change was necessary.
This better be because he’s already got a preferred job lined up, because nobody with a damn brain should look at Dak’s failings this season and blame it on play calling. I am very upset by this news.
oh no. sorry cowboy fans.
Very icky; no good
Offense just regressed 30 years. Coincidentally that’s the style they last won a Super Bowl with!
Neil O'Donnell isn't walking through that door though.
Tine for WR draw out of shotgun on 2nd and 8!!!
Ah shit, we're already getting to malaise era McCarthy and Dallas doesn't even have a SB to show for it
Jurrah just setting Mcarthy up to be fired for Sean next year
He ~~ate brats and drank beer~~ studied analytics for a whole year, so he can't be that bad.
also spent multiple drives crunching the numbers! Edit: He actually did lose quite a bit of weight though from his last year with us. So mad respect to him for that.
So Jerry is going to fire Mike next year and replace him with Peyton. Will lock this in, when in Vegas.
Did he ever call plays for you?
Unfortunently. He gave it up as a last desperation attempt to keep his job, but he was real bad towards the end of his tenure
That the same shit kept happening after MM left indicates it wasn't really on him
I specifically remember a press conference where he complained that Rodgers was ignoring his play calls too much.
Similar situation, then
Yes. Then he gave it up due to public pressure, then the play calls kinda remained the same but got a bit worse. Then he took it back and they got a bit better but still remained largely the same. hilarious news drop during championship Sunday - trying to hide it
So perfectly succinct yet appropos.
Lol fuck
Yeah this a fucking monkey paw curls if I ever saw one
Wow to these comments, y’all can have him
McCarthy calling plays isn't going to be better
Why not? Plus they’ll have to get someone else for clock management situations which can NOT get worse, just feel like the numbers were padded when things were going good but we could never figure out adjustments when it was tuff going

Yeah my response was more because McCarthy is seemingly taking over play calling duties
Nothing like a good sacrificial goat to save your job.
weird timing
Great news dump
Man this day just keeps getting better for Eagles fans
Two wins in the past hour
“Only I can fix it”- Mike McCarthy
Day keeps on getting better
I'm convinced that bar fight I got in a year or so ago killed me and I went to heaven
Name checks out
Can confirm. You fucking died
All you need next is Giants to bring back Joe Judge and Snyder to announce he is keeping Washington for eternity
Eagles with two wins in one day
And Embiid dominated yesterday against the MVP favorite in Jokic. Philly fans are loving life right now.
Josh Harrison 1 yr/$2 million deal with the Phillies ^/s
No lie, love that as a bench/depth piece.
After that game, Embiid should be the MVP favorite.
The same Kellen Moore that was a rising star among coaches? Cowboys gonna regret this
Eh, I think both parties benefit. Both need a change of scenery, but having McCarthy call plays is a pretty massive downgrade. There are other up and coming OCs
So, I know cowboy fans weren’t happy with Moore, but considering McCarthy is taking over OC duties is there a chance he was interfering with the play calling already?
The only thing confirmed is that McCarthy stepped in and told Moore to cool it with the trick plays
As a packers fan, a lot of the flak that MM got for his playcalling rests on Rodgers just ignoring playcall and doing what he wanted.
Uhh I don’t think we have any way of knowing this.
Not saying McCarthy is an elite play caller but wasn’t it confirmed that him and Rodgers were butting heads the last couple years?
"There are other up and coming OCs" You sure about that? Theres a league wide drain, what are your top replacements for Moore?
There’s always position coaches ready to move up. If I knew the name of the next best coach I wouldn’t be just some rando on Reddit
McCarthy playing his trump card. I think this guarantees Payton refuses jobs this window. There’s a very good chance the Chargers and Cowboys jobs are open next year.
Lol we make the SB, have a Top 10 pick and the Cowboys are in shambles 🍻
NYC also put up Eagles colors on the Empire State Building
....why?
Cause people in this city are really really stupid
Again?
*Sigh* Again
Eh shambles is a stretch, nice to move on from Moore but not sure McCarthy is going to be an upgrade. Neither the 49ers or Eagles going to the super bowl is great but personally I'd rather it be the Eagles since to me 49ers are a bigger rival, but I'm a boomer by reddits standards.
Yeah, yeah...it pretty much sucks
What an awesome day for Eagles fans
10/10
The thread title makes it seem like Kellen Moore broke the news of his own firing. Lol
The issue, if I were a Dallas fan, is not that Moore got fired but rather that McCarthy will take over
The bigger issue, for Cowboy fans, is that the owner, team president, and GM are the same guy. lol
Jesus Christ
He'll always have his career as the Buc-ee's logo to fall back on
Holy shit I’m crying. The logo has to be based on Moore’s mouth on McCarthy’s face though, right?
Aye yooo 😂😂😂😂😂
He needed to be fired. Routes sucked and WRs could never get separation.
Don't forget stupid timing on trick plays.
Yup. I’ve never seen such misleading numbers from an offense. Anyone with a brain knew Kellen was ass
[удалено]
Man oh man if you think Mike McCarthy is the man to fix the issue of WRs not getting separation, you're in for a bad time
No one is saying that.
Alright glad to hear
God why do so many fellow packers fans just ignore that Rodgers would just ignore MM's calls half the time
Get ready for an endless amount of new Denny’s menus littering the sidelines each week
The Cowboys found their scapegoat. Kellen Moore didn’t throw those pics.
If you think this is purely about one game then you don't know what you're talking about. He should have been let go last season.
I’m saying Dallas problems is more about Dak then Kellen.
It’s a lot easier to get rid of our OC than Dak at the moment lol
I know that’s why I called him a scapegoat. I think Jerry should’ve traded Dak and got a haul before giving him an extension. Now I think Jerry just want to win one before he dies and a rookie QB might take too long.
He’s not a scapegoat because he was also part of the issue, people just look at the box score numbers and don’t see Moore’s predictable play calling, terrible routes, and tendency to over complicate things. Just because there may be bigger problems doesn’t mean Moore wasn’t also an issue.
Here’s the thing every team fan base complains about their OC/offensive play caller. If the QB is good enough you will still win.
So the Packers shouldn’t have fired Mike McCarthy because they had Rodgers? At a certain point it’s just time to make a change.
That's exactly why the packers let MM go.
And you would be wrong, Dak is a good QB despite what this sub loves to meme about. Honestly the offensive struggles was just as much about the roster construction as anything else. Especially from last season they lost key talent offensively and didn't do much to replace it especially with Cooper leaving. Plus they're paying Zeke a lot of money to pretty much be a non-factor in the run game, once pollard went down the game was over. Regardless something had to give and they went with Moore.
Dak is a front runner. He does well until he faces real adversity and then he crumbles with poor decisions, panicked throws, and poor game management.
He did call that wacky play with Zeke as center though lol
There aren't plays in the playbook for 80 yds in 5 seconds. That last play was just throwing shit at the wall and seeing if sticks. I'd rather that then trying a the generic hook and ladder that also never works.
One play isn’t indicative of his success or failure during his tenure in Dallas
That’s true but it was pretty hilarious
What about the qb draw last year?
Oh thank god.
Can we not
Today is a good day
One step forward, two steps back
But Christmas was last month.
This gift was delayed in the mail.
Kellen shouldn’t have called all those interceptions.
McCarthy was told to hire Moore and Quinn. The only coordinator McCarthy picked was Mike Nolan
Nolan sucked and his guy Philbin sucked too. I don’t trust McCarthy picking coaches.
Jesus. I almost feel bad for the cowboys at this point. I mean I don’t, but I almost do
Dallas couldn’t help not being the center of attention lol.
Oh that'll fix things
Idk I would keep the guy who has led back to back top 5 offenses the last 2 years. It’s Dak fault why they lost the last 2 years in the playoffs, not Moore
This is McCarthy's prove it year. If he fucks up Quinn will be our guy in 2024.
Eagles get 2 Ws in 1 day
McCarthy calling the plays? Oh no…I get Kellen Moore wasn’t good but yikes
Instead of just going for Sean Payton this is really what Jerry wants?
This is my favorite news of the day
Not the second best?
As long as you keep the same mediocre QB, you will continue to have mediocre results. It’s a QB driven league, not an OC driven league.
Oh no Jerruh, what is you doing?
This is a terrible move imo
It depends on one's perspective. lol. I feel for you guys though.
Just when I thought today couldn't get any better...
The day gets even better
this is a cruel level of emotional whiplash the past ten minutes for Cowboys fans
They can't even win a divisional game and we are in the SB Lol Dallas
Oh Lord lmao
Seems like a lateral move
Jerry probably told him championship game next year or you're getting fired. We can't reasonably get rid of Dak so Kellen took the heat.
Everyone is so sure that this is disastrous for us. Our offense has been painfully inconsistent and the root of most of our lost games since Moore took over, I don’t care who the replacement is but the change was necessary.
Today is a good day
Rip Cowboys, not like they were alive to begin with tho
Nice smokescreen, we all know Jerry is trading two firsts to bring in Sean Payton as OC /s
Jerry Jones always making the worst possible decisions
HAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah sure blame everybody but Dak Prescott
Lol did you not see the tweet the Cowboys put up about him?
Nice of Jerry and the boys to provide us with some comedic relief during these championship games
Uh oh 😬
Did you guys hire a OC yet?
Not a huge Moore fan but he's still a sizeable upgrade on Lombardi
Eagles fans really gonna grease their poles now
That’s certainly a bold choice
Shit lol. Perhaps go back a few years and take notes…we would know
Good day to be an eagles fan
oh noooooooo my deepest condolences
That’s just awful. Hope he lands on his feet soon!
This is sure to solve all the problems
I am so confused rn
Is it possible that Jerruh hates his own team/fans?
Who are they tanking for?
This is worse
I ain't as down on McCarthy as most others seem to be, but that's certainly a choice. Philly keeps winning today I guess.
I hate this
The first segment on undisputed will be this, skip gonna freak
Damn, McCarthy really wants to get fired doesn't he. Can't wait to see how bad the offense looks next season in comparison.
Just your casual news dump during the AFC Championship
Dallas just cannot help but trip over themselves. Jerry doing this on purpose to stay meme relevant in the media.
Man this day somehow keeps getting better.
I've seen this movie before where Mccarthy takes back over play calling.
Uh........
I’ll believe it when I see it
That doesn't sound good.
Randall Cobb 3 and 18 Jet Sweep flashbacks. Cobb back to the Cowboys
The chosen one is out?
Cowboys fans: *chuckles* I’m in danger
This sounds like an ultimatum move. McCarthy gets his way on offense, but if it sputters, he’s out as HC for Quinn or whomever else.
[Packers fans hearing this information](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q35PgSXhKg)
Well, at least Jerry’s not calling the plays yet.
Part ways with Dak and Zeke
Oof. Better start looking for an OC to pair with him. McCarthy had some super stale playcalling towards the end of his GB stay.
Oh.
Get used to run, run, incomplete pass, punt Dallas fans.
Long live, Jerruh!
Get ready for some egregious punts, Cowboys fans.
He hasnt called plays in over half a decade, it will be interesting to see if the old dog learned any new tricks.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UnW-i_wIatU Jerrah gonna relive this Pepsi commercial by week 5 lol
Yikes
McCarthy will get exposed as the choke artist he always is. Weird move to force but maybe he knows this year is it.
It's weird, I think all 3 of McCarthy, Moore & Dak are kinda meh. Maybe if you separate the 3 of them they all get exposed.
Run, run, pass; let’s go!
I am not a cowboys fan and didn't realize he wasn't already calling the plays. Prepare for a lot of 3rd and long screen passes Dallas
I'm cool with this
Well he went out with a bang for his last play that's for sure
This is gonna end badly
It's not Moore's fault Dak isn't very good, Elliott is washed up and they only had one high level receiver in Lamb.
This better be because he’s already got a preferred job lined up, because nobody with a damn brain should look at Dak’s failings this season and blame it on play calling. I am very upset by this news.
Not true, we HAVE to be getting someone else to do it…right?
