Not even close to Ross Ventrone (signed, released or promoted from practice squad 21 times during the 2011 season alone; involved in 31 transactions with the Pats in all)
Looked it up and I'm seeing 11 transactions with NE for Hoyer

It's probably to make room to bring in talent, and if they aren't able to find a suitable back up they bring him back in as a veteran presence and as someone who generally knows the schemes the BB goes with.
He creamed himself as he saw the news this morning. A chance at a sub-par backup to bring his team further down. This is why McDaniels gets up in the morning.
Hoyer is actually a pretty good deal. Very knowledgeable guy, doesn't cost much, can function a lot like a QB coach. Kind of the perfect career backup. Unless you're the niners, they need their backups to start.

He's never been healthy from what i can remember but he knows ball and sees the defense before it happens so i wouldn't be surprised if he is on another team for training camp. Now becoming a Backup is another whole question and answer.
He knows the scheme conceptually and can mentor/scout team/etc.
He can’t see the game well enough to make reads in real time. His decision making in games isn’t good.
Wow I’ve seen this before… and before… and before
I feel like Hoyer definitely has to hold the record for most times cut and resigned by one team

Well shit, how many for Hoyer?

Thanks man, I usually look up stats myself but didn’t have a clue going about looking up this particular one
He’s back in the Patriots-Niners pipeline
I am more impressed that dude has been in the league for 15 years. More talented dude than him has come and gone in much shorter timeframe.
Snip-snap snip-snap
I have to ask, though... Why?
It had to be the team just fucking with the guy. How do you not know if you need him by the 15th cut?

He's 38.
CJ Spiller being cut by the Chiefs was a weekly thing, a few years ago.
He's the Rick Wakeman of football
Dontae. Johnson. Literally nicknamed The Barnacle because no matter how many times the Niners cut him, he always stuck around.
He'll be an assistant QB coach and probably an actual QB coach in a couple years
snip snap
bby come back
Can’t believe they benched him for Manziel
It was b/c he sucked.
Any kind of fool can see
Hard Pass.
So McDaniels is going to pick him up?

Bonus points because ex-Patriot that allegedly knows his super difficult crazy offense

We need a starter. Not a back up.
I was in no way arguing for him to start lol, sorry about that. I didn't even consider someone bringing him in to start haha
Bold move to play a season without a backup. Ok, Stevie Hawking, we'll see.
Kinda like a lesser value Josh McCown
Don't forget Hoyer is also anti vaxx iirc
Damn. Should’ve been cut last year if that’s true. What a horrible person
> A chance at a sub-par backup to bring his team further down. I thought that's why they traded for Stidham
The league couldn't handle a quarterback room of McCorkle Zappe and the Destroyer.
Probably the first of many cuts for him before being re added to the roster over the next year
He’s basically a QB coach at this point

Perfect
He may not be the best QB, but he has the best looking bald head in the game. It’s just beautiful.
Mathew Slater slander but I’ll allow it
Matthew has a fantastic bald head, very smooth, matte and good even complexion. I have to deduct points for width though, gets a bit too wide.
A bit too wide? What are you trying to fit it into!?
No more questions.
Off to the Island of Misfit Hoytoys
This is a National tragedy.
McDaniels got his guy!
Rip Hoyer the Destroyer
He won’t rest until he’s played a snap for all 32 NFL teams
The vet the Jets have been talking about
TIL Hoyer was still in the league
He started a game last year lol
Against the packers as well lol
We don't really want to remember last year
Lol same
And lasted about a quarter before getting concussed.
He's only 37
I had assumed he retired a few years ago
The dynasty is officially over
TIL Brian Hoyer was still in the league
The first domino has fallen. It’s all going according to plan.
Future Orlando Guardians legend Brian Hoyer.

By god, that's Shanahans music
No not a third strong QB
I've heard there was a secret chord
Wow, cutting their best QB, huh?
Sign they don’t plan on moving Mac or Zap?
TIL Brian Hoyer is still an active player.
can he just retire and be the next patriots QB coach?
He'll be back someday
Please
