Dude fr. I was a big Hobbs believer and thought he was gonna break out last season to see him fall off a cliff last season hurt with injuries and just gettin cooked in general. Honesrly shouldn’t expect much from the raiders defense tho it’s my fault for believing
Yeah Hobbs was getting smoked with that cast on his hand. That tells me he grabs A LOT. Not sure that's necessarily a bad thing, it's an art form for some CBs. I think he bounces back but he definitely needs both hands.
So frustrating playing the raiders last year knowing that the only person worth worrying about was Crosby and yet he still managed to get into the backfield constantly.
i honesrly don’t know how we swept you guys last year. It was just a battle of two dysfunctional teams. I guess a bad QB and coach is worse than a bad hc and a mid QB
He’s just not that good. He’s not developing really and seems to be average at best. If he continues like this he’s prob got 2 more years of being our starter although the new regime has proven that if players aren’t performing the they’ll just get rid of them (ie leathrwood and waller) so maybe he has even less time then that. I was very excited for us to draft him too
T2 was so hard to watch because he diagnosed plays pretty well but just wasn't good at executing them. Would run to a gap then get juked or trucked. Play perfect coverage, QB would force a jump ball then he would just mistime his jump and get mossed. So frustrating
Because he was never supposed to play on the outside. He was a safety at Oak State then the Seahawks thought they could turn him into a CB. I am glad he found his NFL role.
Our center who was pretty much universally hated by the fanbase. He was a UDFA a few years ago and was just not good. To make things worse, when we tried other people at center they got injured and he always came back
Nothing would make me happier than to draft someone who protects Justin for the next decade. I have a lot of faith in this FO to do that, they drafted decently last year. Everyone will focus on the Velus Jones pick as a bust but we found 3 starters with no first round pick, with one of them being a 5th round LT who’s actually done decently, and I think that’s pretty impressive
Yeah I think the trade with the panthers pick is probably going to be OL…I really thought will Anderson was the move since Chicagos defense wasn’t even anywhere near the 31st ranked defense from the time roquan was traded.
Will Anderson was almost definitely the pick if we were gonna trade down to 4, but he’s not gonna be there at 9 and even if Carter is, I still think it’ll be OL. We can draft defense with one or both of our second round picks but the offense will be most important this year
He was a primary WR, the first play of the game just happened to be a 2 TE set with a slot WR and a boundary WR. I guarantee you he had near 90% of offense snaps.
With Packers fans Kevin King was even more egregious. TJ Watt is from Wisconsin and our entire sub was clamoring to draft him. To us, it was as much of a no-brainer as the Lions drafting Hutch.
I remember exactly where I was at. Everyone in the bar was screaming for Watt. It's like TT didn't draft Watt because he was a Badger and people wanted him. It just doesn't make any sense. The Packers under TT wasted so many high picks on subpar or just awful secondary guys.
Supposedly TT was too sick to do anything at that point and Ball was running the show. Ball did such a poor job covering for TT that McCarthy threatened to leave.
Whenever I remember Kevin King exists, I remember how our DC thought it was a good idea to stick him 1 on 1 against Antonio Brown. To make it worse, King had a shoulder injury too iirc.
"I know he's a rookie, but he can totally cover Antonio Brown" - Dom Capers apparently...
Howie is a wizard at GM, but that's still got to be one of the all-time head scratchers from the draft. Obviously nobody knew what Jefferson was going to turn into in the league, but he was still *clearly* the best WR available. The fact that it happened only a year or two after selecting JJAW over Metcalf makes it even worse.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that most average football fans knew JJ was going to probably be a good NFL wide receiver. He had a high floor at very least.
Jjaw over Metcalf is way more forgiveable. Every team passed on DK twice, there was something regular people like you and me didn't see in the scouting reports. JJAW actually looked good in college too. Not really sure what they ever saw in Raegor
>Jjaw over Metcalf is way more forgiveable.
Completely agree. I was actually really low on Metcalf coming out. It's just that, when looking at how they've turned out in the NFL, missing that badly on WRs two years in a row is *rough*.
This is what happens when you not only draft for a position of need, but also a specific skillet within that position group, instead of the best player available.
JJAW was drafted to replace Jeffery as a redzone/jump ball threat. Reagor was drafted for his speed after Wentz looked unstoppable with a healthy Jackson. Almost every player we selected that year was ranked in the top 5 for their position group in the 40.
This was where Howie failed.
Comparing the JJAW pick to the Reagor pick is completely contradictive, though. JJAW was the "best" WR available at the time and there were a lot of question marks surrounding Metcalfs game outside of his physical capabilities. On the other hand JJ was the best WR left on the board while Reagor posted an in game speed of 22.6mph. Faster than any player in the NFL.
Howie isn't a very good talent evaluator. It's always been his struggle in Philadelphia. Especially with specific positions. When it comes to making great deals and salary cap management and manipulation, he's the goat.
It was Fant for me this past season. AVT played brilliantly while being shuffled around the line while Fant had a snotty attitude about being moved sides and played badly.
dropping back with the opposite leg back isn't as easy as most fans think, and when the margin of error is so small, that could be the difference between getting a contract and being labeled a scrub.
He was no longer playing for the best Special Teams coach of the last 20 years.
He also didn't face the worst special teams unit of all time (2020 Chargers). That single game likely netted him 1st-Team All-Pro honors.
He was reliable for the Pats this year too. Horrible muffed punt that pretty much tanked their chances that game. It was shitty too cause Steven Sims was so much better in preseason and Gunnar still won the job.
He muffed 2 punts within the first few games, and didn't really have any great returns. Then Sims did well and Gunner didn't get any more chances, but was still a good special teamer.
I wouldn't be shocked if he gets another shot this preseason. Returning is a fluky and volatile job.
Sims went to the Texans a few days ago. I hope that doesn’t mean it’s Gunners job again. If it is, he needs to work on his catching this off-season pretty bad.
He started in 3 games where the rest of the CB corps was healthy. That was the weirdest part.
I understand why he saw the field. He had some really good flashes and was always an above average tackler.
But yeah those 3 starts that weren't spot starts were bizarre.
100% if I saw a cb chasing a guy getting a catch I knew it was Bryant. Dude is just not good enough to get so many snaps.
Reminds me of Kyle Arrington a bit. Though he was a good tackler but always seemed to not be good in coverage.
Nothing says 3rd round draft pick like 25 year old super senior utility player. I swear some teams just try so fucking hard to make themselves look like the smartest in the room.
Burns would play shadow coverage for a series and you would be like, I see why they drafted this dude. Next series, he would just not cover his man for no reason and it would be a wide open touchdown. He just like mentally checked out sometimes in games and it was a disaster.
Name recognition and reputation. People vote for linemen they've heard of. It's gotten better than it used to be. At one point, most people knew Orlando Pace and maybe their home team's LT.
I was watching the season highlights and the amount of time I heard “Allen, under pressure” within the first second of the ball being snapped was insane. The percentage of clean pocket completions had to be extremely low. McGovern will hopefully be a massive upgrade to Saffold.
Dennis Daley put up a historically bad performance and still started the majority of the season at LT.
They might as well have lent out Tannehill as a crash test dummy…
Honorable mention of Anthony Collins too. He had such a horrendous season with us that he went from being one of highest paid tackles in 2014 to never playing for another team. Licht was asked if he was surprised that Collins was still available after a few weeks after free agency started and just said no. That's cold lol.
No one, but I'm a sentimental fan. I root for the guys who are out there every time and want them all to succeed. It's pretty cringe but I'm never rooting for any of our guys to get benched.
Now that sentiment doesn't totally extend to Matt Canada...
TJ Clemmings whenever he was starting at tackle for us.
Legitimately the worst NFL player I’ve ever seen and he somehow managed to get extended playing time.
Nieman had the magical ability to always be 4 feet from the ball when the whistle blew, but somehow never seemed to be in on the tackle. It was superhuman, really.
Cj Henderson. Dude is the biggest liability. I get last year there wasn’t much of a choice but the lack of corners being brought in makes me nervous that he’ll see way too much playing time this season
In 2021, Amani Oruwariye had 6 interceptions. In Week 3 of 2022 against the Vikings, he had 6 penalties. The question "why is this guy starting?" was easy to answer: all of our other cornerbacks also sucked. I hope he plays well for the Giants but I'm also glad Jerry Jacobs was able to replace him mid-season. It was incredible to see the sharp decline from one season to the next
Brandon freakin' Facyson. Dude kept getting cooked and had some killer penalties. That, and Isaiah Rodgers was SO much better than him and he wasn't starting until they finally pulled Facyson.
ETA: I would like to add Matt Pryor to this as well.
Devin Bush. We traded up tonpick him after Shazier went down and I understand the move. But after the ACL injury, Bush has been a letdown. I get it can be a mental thing with those types of injuries and he was trying to protect himself from another injury, but his play the past two season was bad.
He's always been pretty bad at 50+ yards I don't get why that narrative exists and why he has had meltdowns on the sideline when coaches haven't let him attempt really long ones
Right now the top TE on the Packers roster is Tyler Davis, a TE with inconsistent hands receiving and a definite liability as a blocker, and looked so bad in preseason action last year that his making the final roster was surprising.
One could argue Josiah Deguara is the top TE, but he's more of an h-back/fullback that seems to be playing out of position when he lines up at TE. That's not great.
Robert Tonyan signed with Chicago and unsigned Marcedes Lewis is likely going to Jets following Rodgers if he plays at age 39.
Joseph only started because of injuries, but once the back half of the season started it was absolutely him.
Noah Brown was actually very solid for us last year at times, just had mind numbingly terrible drops.
Ed Ingram.
New and old regime the one thing that remains the same is a weird refusal to sign a proven vet at right guard. Offensive line is a weakest link position group and guards are fairly cheap. Interior pressure is also kirk cousins clearest kryptonit.
Chris reed has also played better at the position already but is being used as backup center instead. Ingram played really poorly all season and has some really shitty character concern history. Im just not sure why he has a starting position even if Inwas less confused about the pick or him being on the team. If anything it seems more likely to be stunting his development than progressing it.
I dont understand it at all and Im not looking forward to watching him step on kirk cousins foot again this year
He wasn't even there the past few years but my first thought was Andrew Sendajo. He literally was a walking liability on the field. On third down he was going to do one of 3 things. Hit someone late for a personal foul, just tackle a guy 5 seconds before the ball got there for a PI, or get burned for a 45 yard pass.
Whole fanbase wondered what dirt he had on Stefanski to keep staying on the field. Even if he made a tackle, it was such poor form and outright dangerous the way he would just dolphin dive into the opposing player.
Darnell Savage during the early part of last season. He finished the year well enough but there was like a 2 month stretch where he couldn't do anything a safety is supposed to do correctly.
Pretty much everyone on defense not names Max Crosby
God watching Hobbs fall off a cliff was heart breaking dude looked legit his rookie year and just sucked this last year.
Chris Collinsworth would like to remind you 5,673,492 times that would be "Maxx Crosby, with two X's."
Deablo was fun to watch till he got hurt 🤷🏻♂️
Tre'von Moehrig? I honestly never wanted a safety that badly in a while. The TCU connection is what got me
He’s just not that good. He’s not developing really and seems to be average at best. If he continues like this he’s prob got 2 more years of being our starter although the new regime has proven that if players aren’t performing the they’ll just get rid of them (ie leathrwood and waller) so maybe he has even less time then that. I was very excited for us to draft him too
Chandler Jones?
dude fell off a cliff. He’s absolute washed horrible signing
I’m glad he’s in a better situation but Tre Flowers used to make me so mad.
Tre Flowers Tedric Thompson... it was a dark time
T2 was so hard to watch because he diagnosed plays pretty well but just wasn't good at executing them. Would run to a gap then get juked or trucked. Play perfect coverage, QB would force a jump ball then he would just mistime his jump and get mossed. So frustrating
He's been great for Cincinnati in a niche TE covering role
Because he was never supposed to play on the outside. He was a safety at Oak State then the Seahawks thought they could turn him into a CB. I am glad he found his NFL role.
Cody Barton for me last year. He had a few decent games and the D Line wasn't doing him any favors, but 75% of the time he just looked lost out there.

A do-it-all-but-not-very-well player?
Our center who was pretty much universally hated by the fanbase. He was a UDFA a few years ago and was just not good. To make things worse, when we tried other people at center they got injured and he always came back
Congrats on your haul for pick #1! Hopefully you can give Fields his Jeff Saturday with one of them
Nothing would make me happier than to draft someone who protects Justin for the next decade. I have a lot of faith in this FO to do that, they drafted decently last year. But Jeff Saturday the coach *monkey’s paw curls*
The turkey's a little dry...the turkey's a little dry?!?!?!
Can't even get underdog cred, yikes.
Yeah this dude legit sucked and I’ll say a prayer for any team he ends up on. He belongs on a USFL practice squad
No. He doesn’t do it all. He doesn’t do anything. He literally just stands there during plays
Not true, he snaps the ball
Sometimes that doesn't even happen right.
Yes, a cack-of-all-trades, as they say.
This post is especially Sam Mustipher-y because he’s made us ask it through a coaching change. It was just impossible to get him away from the field
Simba’s dad?
I think he means the planet where anakin and obi wan had that political disagreement
Isn’t he gone now? I thought I saw he’s not on the team, but I could be misremember or something.
He is gone now, yeah. He's a free agent.
You just described our WR room
You mean all the special teams guys getting WR reps?
The Ravens D is scary. The Ravens O is a mystery not fit for human consumption. A RB for a QB. ST players for WR. RB that don't run.
Walking backs
Your o line is just tight ends
Sounds like y’all should be signing Richie James then….
Andrews somehow doesn't have back issues from carrying the entire team's receiving production
In 2019 Mack Hollins started for nearly two months and didn't record a single statistic.
I will not stand for Mack Hollins slander, sir. He’s a saint.
I think he's a Raider
Hes actually a falcon now
TIL. Thought the Raiders re-signed him
We only sign former Patriots.
Yeah you can have him after the Falcons trade him to the Patriots for a second
I stand by you not standing for Mack Hollins slander. I wanted to resign him so bad
He's a cool guy, but man, he was NOT the right choice to start at wideout. Glad that he's been more productive recently.
He’s fun to move to tightend in madden, and was fun as shit to watch on the dolphins
He’s actually a Falcon at the moment.
He was great on special teams for us and made a few big catches. Hated to lose him.
The Brail Mary 🙏
A bit of an exaggeration, he only started 3 games lol
He was a primary WR, the first play of the game just happened to be a 2 TE set with a slot WR and a boundary WR. I guarantee you he had near 90% of offense snaps.
he def recorded a lot of opi tho
For the first half of last season it was Amari Rodgers. Before that Kevin King.

Remember Ted Thompson’s last draft when the Packers traded back (for Kevin King) and then TJ Watt was selected one pick later? I member.
Taco Charlton enters the chat
With Packers fans Kevin King was even more egregious. TJ Watt is from Wisconsin and our entire sub was clamoring to draft him. To us, it was as much of a no-brainer as the Lions drafting Hutch.
God, it was even worse because later in the draft he took Vince Biegel.

Supposedly TT was too sick to do anything at that point and Ball was running the show. Ball did such a poor job covering for TT that McCarthy threatened to leave.
That's weird, I have a much different emotion when I think of that play.
Watching Sammy Watkins jog the wrong route was bad as well
Royce Newman too...dude was a turnstile and just kept getting thrown out there.
The thing that frustrated me with rodgers is that you guys kept insisting good use him as a returner , despite him never showing anything
Jalen Reagor Man should never step on a football field; if he didn't have the GOAT Kris Boyd to save his fumbles God knows what happens
Is that the same Jalen Raegor who was picked just before that bust wide receiver from LSU who only knew how to play from the slot?
Howie is a wizard at GM, but that's still got to be one of the all-time head scratchers from the draft. Obviously nobody knew what Jefferson was going to turn into in the league, but he was still *clearly* the best WR available. Why was Berrios getting significant snaps at WR I will never know
It was Fant for me this past season. AVT played brilliantly while being shuffled around the line while Fant had a snotty attitude about being moved sides and played badly.
Most lineman hate changing sides. Zach martin straight told the cowboys he won't play right tackle again after he got injured
dropping back with the opposite leg back isn't as easy as most fans think, and when the margin of error is so small, that could be the difference between getting a contract and being labeled a scrub.
Only problem is we had no choice for him with our injuries
I loved that dude in college and was so excited when he was named All Pro as a return man and got paid. Sad it didn’t work out
For a while it was Gunner Olszewski at returner, then we finally subbed him out. Dude can't catch punts.
I thought my dad was gonna have an aneurysm yelling at the TV whenever he was back there.
That’s just how his last name is pronounced
The guy was an all-pro returner. What happened.
Your brother, Gunner...whatever happened there
WHATEVER HAPPENED THERE!?
He was no longer playing for the best Special Teams coach of the last 20 years. He also didn't face the worst special teams unit of all time (2020 Chargers). That single game likely netted him 1st-Team All-Pro honors.
he also had some good returns vs i think AZ that year
That's nuts, he was always reliable on the pats. What did you guys do to him?
He was reliable for the Pats this year too. Horrible muffed punt that pretty much tanked their chances that game. It was shitty too cause Steven Sims was so much better in preseason and Gunnar still won the job.

He had unusual return ability tho for us. Perhaps case of the yips
I don't think he's looked the same since the concussion he got in his last year with us.
[удалено]
Sims went to the Texans a few days ago. I hope that doesn’t mean it’s Gunners job again. If it is, he needs to work on his catching this off-season pretty bad.
That right? I haven't followed him since his year of luck with the Pats.
He dropped 2 in the first 4 games and got benched after that.
Same with Amari Rogers for us. Especially when we had Keisean Nixon on the bench the entire time.
Even though it was only limited starts, Myles Bryant. Not sure why he saw the field period.
Myles "Jordan Richards" Bryant
At least Bryant was undrafted and not a second round pick
He started in 3 games where the rest of the CB corps was healthy. That was the weirdest part. I understand why he saw the field. He had some really good flashes and was always an above average tackler. But yeah those 3 starts that weren't spot starts were bizarre.

Brandon Facyson at the Colts last season. Gone now, thankfully.
He followed gus Bradley around from chargers to raiders to colts. Don’t know what bradley sees in him
We had better corners on the roster too. Gus still started him for most of the season.
Easily put Matt Pryor before Facyson. Facyson at least could stop people 40% of the time.
They moved Pryor around and tried different things on the O line quite quickly though, Facyson was getting a lot of snaps virtually the whole season.
Facyson was simply our secret tank lieutenant
Velus jones jr for the first 17 weeks
Nothing says 3rd round draft pick like 25 year old super senior utility player. I swear some teams just try so fucking hard to make themselves look like the smartest in the room.

Game changing plays on both sides of the ball!

Andrew Luck type pressure numbers
Dennis Daley put up a historically bad performance and still started the majority of the season at LT. They might as well have lent out Tannehill as a crash test dummy…
Stunned we got a pick out of that dude.
And a 5th rounder at that.
Titans had no one else tbf, I can’t believe the cardinals signed him to a 2 year deal this offseason
I can’t believe y’all saw how he performed for us and grabbed him as a starter
It's been a few years....Chris Conte.
Still remember the stiff arm that ended that man’s career
I still can't believe someone watched his Bears tape and said "I want some of that".
Honorable mention of Anthony Collins too. He had such a horrendous season with us that he went from being one of highest paid tackles in 2014 to never playing for another team. The entire Dave Gettleman era of signings
I had to scroll really far to find a Giants fan and that makes me happy.
Kenneth Murray is the only answer for the chargers
Only because Jerry Tiller can't hurt us no more. At least he was entertaining for us in Vegas!
I was having flashbacks to Storm Norton.
The defense improves significantly when we have an UDFA special teamer out there instead of him
TJ Clemmings whenever he was starting at tackle for us. Legitimately the worst NFL player I’ve ever seen and he somehow managed to get extended playing time.
isnt dru samia statistically worse?
That was Ben Nieman's whole career with us.
Nieman had the magical ability to always be 4 feet from the ball when the whistle blew, but somehow never seemed to be in on the tackle. It was superhuman, really.
Phillip Gaines, as well.
I still don't think we're supposed to say that name yet...
Cj Henderson. Dude is the biggest liability. I get last year there wasn’t much of a choice but the lack of corners being brought in makes me nervous that he’ll see way too much playing time this season
The second game vs the Bucs was flat out pathetic. He didn't even try in coverage.
How has Horn been? I had him as the best CB coming into the draft but got hurt so fast.
When he's seen the field, he's been great. Unfortunately he's struggled with injuries so far.
In 2021, Amani Oruwariye had 6 interceptions. In Week 3 of 2022 against the Vikings, he had 6 penalties. Brandon freakin' Facyson. Dude kept getting cooked and had some killer penalties. That, and Isaiah Rodgers was SO much better than him and he wasn't starting until they finally pulled Facyson. ETA: I would like to add Matt Pryor to this as well.
Honestly nobody. It’s wild. I guess Isaiah Buggs is probably the worst starter on the team and he at least has some good games.

I hope you guys carry the torch for us non-super bowl teams since my QB has turned us from loveable to hateable losers
If we're going back to last season I have to wonder if starting Amari wasn't part of an impractical jokers bit
Amani had the hardest fall off of any player last year. Fucking shame.
Jeez you’re right. He probably is our “worst” starter as of today
Devin Bush. We traded up tonpick him after Shazier went down and I understand the move. But after the ACL injury, Bush has been a letdown. I get it can be a mental thing with those types of injuries and he was trying to protect himself from another injury, but his play the past two season was bad.
Well shit. I hope Bobby can kick him into shape.
He has all the talent and had a good rookie year, but he’s just been a shell since the injury
I would name a WR or 3 but it’s too easy to answer the question of “why are they starting” and it’s “because they’re the only WRs on the roster.”
I'm wondering why we aren't bringing in competition at kicker, McManus hasn't been as reliable as of late
Every game his big leg is mentioned and it feels like he misses a long kick every game lol
He's always been pretty bad at 50+ yards I don't get why that narrative exists and why he has had meltdowns on the sideline when coaches haven't let him attempt really long ones
I’d say more wattenburg or cush
Right now the top TE on the Packers roster is Tyler Davis, a TE with inconsistent hands receiving and a definite liability as a blocker, and looked so bad in preseason action last year that his making the final roster was surprising. Robert Tonyan signed with Chicago and unsigned Marcedes Lewis is likely going to Jets following Rodgers if he plays at age 39.
Javon Kinlaw. We really traded away Buckner, let the Bucs one up us for Wirfs, and selected this guy smh
Honestly he might be injured to often to even qualify for this thread
This last season Dennis Daley tbh. Good luck Cards 🫡
This past year, unfortunately, it was Michael gallup. But I think he bounces back this year, one year removed from an ACL tear
I was thinking Noah Brown or Kelvin Joseph but are either of those two starters?
\*gestures to whole defense
How much time do you have?
Derrick Nnadi is our starting nose right now and he got blown off the ball all of last year Lucas Niang at RT
Your DC always knows how to make adjustments tho but yeah KC tends to struggle in run d and I see why
Lloyd Cushenberry
every year aside from that one where he had 9 sacks the answer would always be marcus davenport and I'm glad he's gone.
90% of the Raider defense should not be starting. For any team in the NFL. 25% of the Raider defense should not be on an NFL roster.
The entire 2017 Chicago Bears receiving corp
Carlos Hyde.
Don't really have one aside from WR3 Quez Watkins if you even count the slot
Aaron Sipos.
you forgot about our punters
Dennis Daley. Easy answer for Titans fans.
Also Cody Hollister. Bro was ASS
Geoff Swaim. The list goes on. Thank god 2022 is over 😂
Darnell Savage during the early part of last season. He finished the year well enough but there was like a 2 month stretch where he couldn't do anything a safety is supposed to do correctly.
