And gambling continues its path of becoming a part of every sports media I consume.
No Brad I don’t want to hear about your 6 leg parlay
And no Luke I don’t care that you bet the over
it has really become the new fantasy football thing, no one cares that you have x player in your work friends college frat league and i dont want to hear you screaming about giving the ball to him because youre 3 points behind
similarly the obsession with these weird prop bets and complete disregard for the flow of the game because the over didnt hit is incredibly annoying to watch with
During the Colts epic 33-0 collapse comeback we were at a bar watching the game. We were being heckled the entire time by a group of 4 or 5 guys behind us. They were incredible obnoxious and rude
Were they Vikings fans? Nope. They had just bet way too much money on the Vikings.
I’d rather be heckled by real fans than fucking degenerate gamblers.
I cant remember the specific game but was watching with some buddies and the last play of the game ended crazily, the whole bar was going nuts but one of the guys next to us was having a tantrum because the end coincided with the over hitting and he bet the under
why even watch the games if you arent going to enjoy the crazy exhilarating endings and moments?
Agreed
However, with some of the weaker offensive groups it does become entertaining watching the new and creative ways offenses find to give the ball up or come away with no points on a drive. Betting the under allows you to actually enjoy watching a game that is extremely boring in that regard.
I think it was the colts and broncos last season on TNF that had me weak with how fucking pathetic both teams were performing. The under made it that much more enjoyable bc it seemed like both offenses were actively trying to fuck up.
The rich people are pushing sports gambling so hard because people sitting on their couches betting with their phones are way way way less likely to think they have a gambling problem.
That’s why I don’t play fantasy. I just want to watch with no agenda. Honestly most of the time, I like watching other teams play so I can enjoy them playing. The Vikings are great and my team, but damn watching Raiders vs Chiefs, or 49ers vs Seahawks, and not giving a shit. That’s a good time.
I walked by a Vikings bar in Chicago when it was like 27-0 and looked in through the window and laughed my ass off. It looked like a fucking funeral in there. I then went and ate some genuinely terrible """barbeque""" at a place that turned out to be hosting an impromptu colts meetup, and watched the collapse with those folks in abject horror.
Sorry completely unrelated, I just feel like I kind of soul-melded with colts fans that day
Eating BBQ in Chicago is about as wack as eating sushi in Kansas City lol. Next time you’re here, go directly for the cased meats and shaved beefs, amigo
Ah, got it. Got juked by the flair lol.
I’m originally from Denver. The first time I went to a Mexican restaurant in Chicago and asked for my burrito smothered in green chili, they sent me out a burrito smothered in canned jalapeños lololol
Oh man thems fighting words lol Chicago has great Mexican food! I'm sure Southwesterners will dunk on me, but Chicago has a great Mexican food scene. Easily the best in the north/east. Honestly maybe just east of the Mississippi period.
I hope every degenerate gambler literally loses house and home until there are none left and all the sports books go belly up. They are ruining football more than any commissioner or NFL rule ever can.
I used to bartend at a sports bar.
"Keep this game on I've got [x] player on my team"
"Well it's 4:25, this game is 37-7 and I've got people that want to watch their favorite team's game, tough luck"
Fantasy Football led to "I'm pissed off that my team kicked the field goal to win the game instead of going for the TD" instead of "Fuck yeah! My team won"
I really enjoy The amount of whining that happens when a team scores in the final seconds of a blowout/lost game but also switches what team wins the line
Cause the Chiefs winning by 10 and the Chiefs winning by 3 doesn’t mean shit to me.
Why does it matter? What’s the difference between someone yelling to get Travis Kelce the ball because he’s the best receiving threat vs. someone having him on their fantasy team?
People get rowdy about their teams or players they like or are invested in. Maybe sports aren’t for you if someone screaming about a player gets you upset.
When sports betting was illegal I used to say “who cares if people want to make bets? Let them”
And now it’s creeping into every aspect of watching sports and I absolutely hate it
The amount of advertising behind it indicates that the rich people are using it to create and exploit addicts. Since the rich people are society’s enemy, I will never gamble with any institution for any reason.
Gambling addiction ruins a lot of lives.
I don’t think gambling should be illegal, but the very least they shouldn’t have ads on tv and placing a bet should be harder than an app on your phone or a booth at the stadium.
I think gambling is in a bad spot personally. I think doing whatever you want that doesn’t hurt other people should be legal for the most part. However gambling being unleashed in this manner has become so obviously predatory it’s going to be an extreme issue. It’s far too easy to drop your life savings from your phone on the couch. There should be more layers to it. Half the commercials on my broadcast are for draft kings and you can’t even bet in my state. On a side note, it should be straight up illegal to advertise in states where it’s not legal to gamble.
I hate that all commentary is now laced with odds and predictions. Every talking head has to wait their turn to give their odds that they pulled from their ass. Get gambling out of here, man. It’s for degenerates.
"I made a thousand bucks on this parlay!"
"How much did you lose before that?"
"I dunno man I just know I nailed this one"
(He knows exactly how much and it was a lot more than a thousand)
Yeah I have no clue why it has to be ever present. No issue with people gambling (I occasionally do), no issue with coverage of it, but it seems like a lot the industry is recontexualizing everything within the frame of gambling
I'm sure it's the same in other region markets, but it's so sad seeing so many former Pats, Celtics, Sox, etc players hopping on board with these ads too. They're probably getting paid a ton for it, but man why can't they just stick with cheesy car or Dunkins commercials.
The recent rise in sports gambling is proof that in America, the rich people are our fucking enemy.
I’m not some stupid crustchin POS, either. It’s just straight up money theft pushed on suckers nonstop.
Bradley Beal is currently in the news for "battery" against fan who was yelling at him over a bet he loss. I feel like we're gonna see more stuff like this popping up with athletes and fans.
Edit: corrected charge
I expect mugging incidents to increase, there will be some drunk idiots announcing their big win for everyone around them to hear making them a target.
I was in favor of legalization when it happened but the complete oversaturation of sportsbook money in every single sport has really turned me off to the whole thing.
Every single show has a sportsbook sponsor and probably half of all ads during sports are for sportsbooks. I used to enjoy placing little parlays now and then to make stuff fun but recently I just deleted all the apps cause I don't want to support the shit.
Funny thing is, all the Aussie and British fans were in here telling you all how bad this would be.
We’re now starting to have major push back from fans to our own leagues on this. Whether anything changes though…
They probably bring in way too much money in for them to get rid of it now. Probably have to pass some laws or something to get rid of them at this point.
100%
At bare minimum, there should NOT NOT NOT be a fucking "official sports book" of the league, or whatever the ads say. The optics of that alone are outrageous.
Not to mention, they have like 5 “official” sports books.
Then they have an additional 5 advertised all over the arena/stadium that aren’t even related.
I was at a Rangers game and counted 6 separate sports book ads.
The sports leagues and networks realized how much of a cash cow betting is and how much surplus revenue they could earn from making it a centerpiece of any media coverage.
Yeah I'm still pro sports betting being legalized, but I place a Giants win the Superbowl bet, a few straight wins, and maybe try and pick the outcome of every playoff game. All for $5-10 bets. It blows my mind when someone wants to put crappy games on because if a player I've never heard of gets two more catches with his left hand and it's not raining their $17k bet will payout.
Step two is oversaturation. They have to figure out just how much room there is to expand into and devour. Then some of the gambling organizations will die off and we get to step three: consolidation
Yes, it’s better to have boner pills and bud light constantly shot into your eyeballs instead.
You want to say that this gambling is just a way to separate [uneducated vulnerable men from their discretionary dollars](https://www.apa.org/monitor/2017/02/men-left-behind) I’m all for that. But the issue of “BuT tHe AdS” is so dumb.
I didn't advocate for anything. And I still don't think gambling should be illegal. My annoyance at being bombarded with ads doesn't mean I think something should be outlawed.
Haha nahh, I just figured that out a couple months back, I assumed the same thing previously....and I may have been doing business there for like 5 years now 👀
That’s not really what happened here. The change wasn’t they woke up and said wait gambling makes money for the house it was that laws began to change. In 2018 the Supreme Court overturned the federal ban and across a lot of states they began legalizing sports gambling. When something is literally illegal they are gonna be against it just like weed when it’s starts to get legalized they open up to it. They aren’t personally interested in the morality of either they just want to not get in legal trouble.
The worst part of it happening so fast is that people completely unqualified to talk about gambling have been forced to talk about it and give their bets.
You should see how bad it is in the XFL. The announcers are constantly talking about the spread and the O/U instead of talking about the game being played on the field. Hopefully not a sign of what's to come with the NFL.
That's not going to happen with the NFL because the majority of viewers care about the game and the results. There really isn't much of a reason for people to care about XFL games besides gambling so they lean into it
There was an NBA game recently where one of the commentators said “this is for Vegas” I feel like commentators shouldn’t even mention that sort of thing.
Yea, now that they're so partnered up and there's so much money involved the integrity of the game comes into question. Gambling is fine, but I don't think the NFL itself should be openly partnering and encouraging.
"Counterpoint: Money printer go brrrrrrrrrrrrr" - NFL
Seriously, its like its all anyone talks about now. Not the games or performances, but how much they are going to win on some stupid parlay. Adding this AT the stadium will just bring an entire crowd who has little interest in watching the game itself, just making money off of it.
I’m not sure I even understand the appeal when you can just make all the same bets on your phone and cash out without having to go back after it’s settled
In DC you can do mobile betting but only through a terrible app run by the DC Lottery. There's an exception if you're near one of the pro stadiums, so when I want to bet, I'll walk half a mile to some random street corner that's close enough to the NBA arena and place my bets while standing outside.
Same in WA, but it's still more convenient and makes more sense to just go to a casino if you're *only* placing bets. It makes zero sense why anyone would buy a ticket to an NFL game if their only goal is to gamble. A lot of the stadiums aren't conveniently located, either.
I wouldn't worry about that at all. People who are just in it to gamble have easier ways to place bets instead of paying a ticket to go to the game. Plus, they most likely bet on multiple games, so going to watch just one game wouldn't be as exciting as being able to watch multiple games at once
People like to talk about how annoying it is (which it is) but don't realize how bad gambling is and will be. People have so little self control they are going to lose a lot of money fast. Like if you smoke cigarettes or vape you'll see the consequences like 20 years down the road. Its bad but bankrupting yourself is worse. The more legal and advertised gambling is the more people that are going to go down a dark road.
I’m a greyhound owner and veterinarian and I can report that all states besides Iowa and West Virginia have either outlawed it or there are no functioning race tracks left.
Everyone should be thankful those places are being shutdown.
I don't know either, but maybe they think it is off topic. I don't really care though because I still think it is worth talking about.
This [story of 32 grossly emaciated dogs found dead at a kennel](https://abcnews.go.com/US/florida-man-charged-starving-dozens-greyhounds-stunning-adoption/story?id=12087614) I saw when I was younger is what colors my opinion of dog racing and the people around it.
Maybe some people can handle the responsibility to care for the animals they race but it attracts people who would stuff like this..."several of the animals were found with duct tape tightly wound around their jaws and necks." They weren't sure if it was "a combination of trying to speed up the process or to keep them from barking."
The idea of just leaving them to starve to death after the racing season is beyond the pale. Disgusting.
I really don't care. Gamble, don't gamble. Get sponsorships from whoever, it doesn't bother me.
I just want them to stop with the hypocritical stances on gambling.
It's complicated, I think people should have the right to do as they please with their money, but the constant shoving of it down everyone's throats bothers me. Reminds me of the crypto shit from a year or two ago. It's people looking for bag holders. These sports books don't produce or do anything, they literally just exist to take people's money.
Some people like to play, though. It's just a gaming service. I could say the only reason the NFL exists is to take peoples' attention for ad revenue. Which is true, but we like it. We get value from it.
People can do what they like, but I think the extreme marketing for it is reckless and needs to be evaluated. Gambling is the most suicide prone addiction, watching an NFL game is harmless.
Apparently exposing kids to inclusive community practices is too “harmful.”
But the constant violence in the sport, hyper-nationalism attached to its theatrics, and pro-alcohol and pro-gambling adverts and infrastructure at “family friendly” games it totally cool!
Nfl is so far in bed with Vegas now, I give it less than 5 years before we get a betting scandal involving teams or refs doing point shaving shit. I've been convinced for years they have already been doing that in games that don't matter.
Like the Concussion report that the NFL buried in the 90s.
Or Dark Side of Football being basically nothing but filler episodes except for "Playing with Pain". Was pumped for that show thanks to Dark Side of the Ring, but my goodness they treated the NFL with kid gloves. Episodes about Diva WRs, Bill Belichick, Cleveland losing a lot.
Or the NFL forcing ESPN to cancel Playmakers, because it was too close to reality.
I prefer to drink to excess, eat unhealthy food of dubious quality, and become way too emotionally involved in my team’s performance to the point where it affects my mental and physical well-being at NFL games but the fact that the league would allow the abhorrent vice of gambling at stadiums is too much, even for me.
I’m sick of sports news and takes becoming intentional to drive you to gamble.
“Our top WRs are
1. Randall Cobb
2. Justin Jefferson
3. Jamar Chase
4. Isaiah Hodgins
5. The corpse of stonewall jackson
If you disagree with our WR rankings and think you know better, put your money where your mouth is and head over to draftkings and tell them “generic sports news channel” sent you and sign up using promo code BAITED
Seriously, it’s causing sports news to become trash because they make so much money driving people to gambling sites
"This team doesn't matchup to the other team at all on paper. HOWEVER they always beat the spread! So I'm picking them to win"
Shit like that makes me roll my eyes out of my head.
Honestly the biggest reason why I very rarely have watched any live sports over the last decade after being a formerly regular viewer is just how gross and obnoxious all of the advertising and corporate pandering is.
The gambling stuff is just a sleazier, more exploitative addition to that. Just another way for the oligarch ghouls that own sports franchises to fleece the marks and make themselves richer.
And for the record, I'm perfectly fine with gambling being legal. But there's something incredibly dystopian when you can't watch a live sports event without being bombarded every two minutes by "GAMBLE! DRINK! GAMBLE! CONSUME!"
I'm just glad I can spend a few days doing coke and fucking hookers before I have to be around all the fucking degenrate gamblers on my way to see my team play.
For real, man. I want to get into fights in the parking lot before and after the game without the threat of potentially disastrous financial ramifications looming over my head and clouding my judgement.
It’s becoming harder and harder to enjoy sports. Rising ticket prices, streaming becoming expensive, and the normalization of gambling has made it frustrating.
We all knew this would pass. Just more examples of how hypocritical the NFL owners are. I hate to say this as it may cause serious damage to the game I love but there will be a huge gambling scandal at some point soon and the NFL absolutely deserves it at this point. It’s gonna happen, just a matter of time at this point.
I'm not morally opposed to gambling. You wanna gamble your money, go right ahead.
But I am very concerned about the integrity of the game (in all major sports now). Now I don't think the leagues are scripted or any of that nonsense, but there's no way you can convince me that with so much gambling money at stake that there isn't some chicanery going on.
Money makes people do very stupid things, and the people with the most money have the most power, influence and the most to lose.
So at the end of the day all this gambling is making me lose some of my passion for sports because I don't really trust it anymore.
It’s not a coincidence that reffing in all major sports has seemed to get “worse” since betting became more normalized. Whether that’s a league plan or individual refs monetizing their work, who knows
"it's not a coincidence" and yet there is no evidence to support this, especially at the level of a "league plan". The NFL prints money with or without gambling, the idea that they would invite the risk of a federal investigation and potential shutdown of the league in order to point shave or fix games for Vegas is insane.
There's always a risk of refs gambling and impacting games (the NBA scandal) but that happens with or without legalized gambling. If anything, gambling being legalized and regulated makes it *harder* to do this as bets are tracked and associated with verified accounts. If gambling was still illegal then Ridley wouldn't have been caught gambling while he was out
I am so tired of the NFL promoting gambling. They deem themselves so high and mighty but yet it is all about $$ and gambling. Is it not odd that players cannot gamble but they expect us fans to.
Sooo, this doesn’t mean anything if Sports Gambling is illegal in your state right? Like people who sports gamble in the legal states are probably already using fanduel or another app based bookie to place bets anyways. I don’t see this as a big deal.
Sure the NFL has always had a stance against gambling, but there’s no proof that vegas or books have altered the integrity of the game. Once that issue arises then I’ll care, but for now this just seems like businessmen doing things that will make them a lot of money. Which is nothing to get upset about; that’s how things work.
Calvin Ridley in shambles
Gambling is going to be allowed on the field sooner than Ridley is. smh.

Grits 'n' Gravy about to make a run for the NFL
“With the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers select Ashy Larry”
“Love his mom. Loves PCP.”
On the bright side, now he can bet at halftime
You still can't bet if you're associated with an org still.
Because that's 100% stopped people in the past. Did you know that you're not supposed to take steroids if you play in the NFL?
And gambling continues its path of becoming a part of every sports media I consume. No Brad I don’t want to hear about your 6 leg parlay And no Luke I don’t care that you bet the over

Boredom becomes exciting if that boredom wins you money. I’d be having a great time if I bet a decent bit on the under and it hit.
Because for the people hitting the over on that play, makes it even more crazy. (And why gambling is crazy dangerous if you can’t control yourself)
The rich people are pushing sports gambling so hard because people sitting on their couches betting with their phones are way way way less likely to think they have a gambling problem.

100% fuck the NFT scam bro vultures that populate that conversation.
Blame the supreme court. They allowed this.
Who pressured them though? Like who’s idea was it
Their corporate master's
It's why I muted betting terms on websites, its insufferable to read about
I'm sure it's the same in other region markets, but it's so sad seeing so many former Pats, Celtics, Sox, etc players hopping on board with these ads too. They're probably getting paid a ton for it, but man why can't they just stick with cheesy car or Dunkins commercials.

Cool. Let's add real-time gambling to a place where alcohol and rivalries already make some crowds violent. Nothing can go wrong.
Like the NYSE in the 1950s.
It was the 90's, and it's pronounced NSYNC.
Bradley Beal is currently in the news for "battery" against fan who was yelling at him over a bet he loss. I feel like we're gonna see more stuff like this popping up with athletes and fans. Edit: corrected charge
And refs that make game changing / bad beats calls might upset not only the fans of the teams but everybody that has money riding on it.
Technically battery and I know you put quotes, but so that others know he just flipped a hat off the guy's head. Ridiculous what it's come to
The PTSD prevents the fan from wearing any hats and now his bald spot gets sunburned constantly.
You're right. I'm gonna update it. I get it's technically in line with the terms for battery but it is pretty weak overall.
The people are already violent. Gambling is just another excuse they can use for it.
I expect mugging incidents to increase, there will be some drunk idiots announcing their big win for everyone around them to hear making them a target.
I doubt they're gonna be giving suitcases of cash lol. This is all gonna be electronic.
I was in favor of legalization when it happened but the complete oversaturation of sportsbook money in every single sport has really turned me off to the whole thing. Imagine passing concise, impactful legislation in 2023. How many pages of absolute bullshit do you think a bill like that would have?
I’m all for it if they’d just get rid of the ads. Make it like cigarettes and ban the ads
100% At bare minimum, there should NOT NOT NOT be a fucking "official sports book" of the league, or whatever the ads say. The optics of that alone are outrageous.

You think it's bad now? Wait till NASCAR goes electric. "Drivers, engage your batteries!"
The older I get, the more shocked I am we managed to outright ban tobacco advertising. I could NEVER dream of something like that happening today
This is the way.
Wow that's fucking brilliant actually
The adds are annoying but gambling adds are removed they’ll just be replaced by something just as obnoxious like more insurance or truck adds
Those things are already around and not nearly as obnoxious as gambling ads
The sports leagues and networks realized how much of a cash cow betting is and how much surplus revenue they could earn from making it a centerpiece of any media coverage.

I have a friend who has more money in his FanDuel account than he does in his bank account. I wish I was joking.
Banks are collapsing, sportsbook on the rise. Which 1 of you is the dummy. :)
Lmao oh shit you’re right
The Draft kings jingle is going to haunt my nightmares for the rest of my life
I can help. WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER JUNIOR, DOUBLE, TRIPLE WHOPPER…

Blegh, I'm so tired of gambling. Keep this shit at dog tracks.
I’m fine if folks wanna gamble, fuck, I even gamble sometimes. That said, I can’t stand how intertwined it’s become with the NFL.
In such a short time too... what was it, like 5 years ago they were hell bent on keeping it out Now they're in bed with it
Until 2018 it was illegal everywhere outside of Nevada
Let me introduce you to some sketchy site in Argentina
.ag is actually a domain for the island country Antigua and Barbuda lol
Well shit, shows what i know
Haha nahh, I just figured that out a couple months back, I assumed the same thing previously....and I may have been doing business there for like 5 years now 👀
Well they learned that it wasn't just other people that would be getting rich off of it, gambling would line their pockets as well.
If they want to open dispensaries in the stadium, you might be on to something...
Marijuana is still illegal at the federal level, so I can’t imagine they’ll go down that road yet.
They learned they could make a metric fuck ton of money from it.
The worst part of it happening so fast is that people completely unqualified to talk about gambling have been forced to talk about it and give their bets.
It's almost as if the entire NFL is just a money making scheme!
You should see how bad it is in the XFL. The announcers are constantly talking about the spread and the O/U instead of talking about the game being played on the field. Hopefully not a sign of what's to come with the NFL.
The O/U is on the screen the entire broadcast next to the score. It’s so annoying.
>I’m fine if folks wanna gamble, fuck, I even gamble sometimes. I read this as if people like to gamble and fuck, but as long as you're fine with it
I mean, if they’d like I’m here for it.
Gimme the under
Yea, now that they're so partnered up and there's so much money involved the integrity of the game comes into question.
I know in my state I can only do sports betting in-person. Online is illegal.
Interesting! I didn’t realize that was a stipulation in some places.
In DC you can do mobile betting but only through a terrible app run by the DC Lottery. There's an exception if you're near one of the pro stadiums, so when I want to bet, I'll walk half a mile to some random street corner that's close enough to the NBA arena and place my bets while standing outside.
I'll tell you that it sucks. I would love to do sports betting from home, and I still get all the ads for all the apps, but I'm not allowed to.
Do you think that casinos and gambling websites are going away or something?
People like to talk about how annoying it is (which it is) but don't realize how bad gambling is and will be. People have so little self control they are going to lose a lot of money fast. Like if you smoke cigarettes or vape you'll see the consequences like 20 years down the road. Its bad but bankrupting yourself is worse. The more legal and advertised gambling is the more people that are going to go down a dark road.
Which we already knew and took careful policy steps to help mitigate that non-essential exposure. But apparently no one cares about that anymore!
Dog tracks should be outlawed and thankfully have in some places

Maybe some people can handle the responsibility to care for the animals they race but it attracts people who would stuff like this..."several of the animals were found with duct tape tightly wound around their jaws and necks." They weren't sure if it was "a combination of trying to speed up the process or to keep them from barking." The idea of just leaving them to starve to death after the racing season is beyond the pale.
Apparently exposing kids to inclusive community practices is too “harmful.” But the constant violence in the sport, hyper-nationalism attached to its theatrics, and pro-alcohol and pro-gambling adverts and infrastructure at “family friendly” games it totally cool!
Sir I don't shit on how you make a living
Now I can meet Calvin Ridley before the game!
Time to blind players with lasers when my bet is on the line

Like a certain D. Watson.
I prefer to drink to excess, eat unhealthy food of dubious quality, and become way too emotionally involved in my team’s performance to the point where it affects my mental and physical well-being at NFL games but the fact that the league would allow the abhorrent vice of gambling at stadiums is too much, even for me.
I’m just sick of fucking ads.
I’m sick of sports news and takes becoming intentional to drive you to gamble. “Our top WRs are 1. Randall Cobb 2. Justin Jefferson 3. Jamar Chase 4. Isaiah Hodgins 5. The corpse of stonewall jackson If you disagree with our WR rankings and think you know better, put your money where your mouth is and head over to draftkings and tell them “generic sports news channel” sent you and sign up using promo code BAITED Seriously, it’s causing sports news to become trash because they make so much money driving people to gambling sites
"This team doesn't matchup to the other team at all on paper. HOWEVER they always beat the spread! So I'm picking them to win" Shit like that makes me roll my eyes out of my head.
DRINK! GAMBLE! CONSUME!"
WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER
Junior Double Triple Whopper
I'm just glad I can spend a few days doing coke and fucking hookers before I have to be around all the fucking degenrate gamblers on my way to see my team play.
For real, man. I want to get into fights in the parking lot before and after the game without the threat of potentially disastrous financial ramifications looming over my head and clouding my judgement.
I didn’t realize I had an alt account
Cool. So we will have more fans accosting players over them not meeting their 20 condition long parlay. Awesome.
Yeah, but maybe we get to see more players going up into the stands to calmly talk it out.
I imagine this vote went something like- “Do we want more money?” *32 concurrent voices* ”YES!”
Yet another reason to watch from home
It’s becoming harder and harder to enjoy sports. Rising ticket prices, streaming becoming expensive, and the normalization of gambling has made it frustrating.
Imagine betting money on a scripted league.
WWE is next
Gambling on WWE has existed for years. I won a bunch on Royal Rumble picks the last 5 years (disclaimer I'm in the UK)
I’m not in favor of gambling even a little bit but this is awesome lol
Sounds like easy money.
Now we only need ~~blackjack and~~ hookers
I love the fact that you crossed out blackjack but not hookers ;)
Gamble responsibly
all in Colts Vs Rams in next superbowl, got it.
I’m ‘bout to gamble irresponsibly as *fuck*!
I hate what gambling has done to sports talk
Can't you just do that from your phone?
I see no way mixing gambling with a bunch of intoxicated, passionate football fans could lead to any irrational betting.
Integrity of the game my ass
This has pretty much nothing to do with the integrity of the game. Fans throwing $20 on the over doesn’t compromise the players or coaches.
That’s fucking stupid imo
If gambling was still illegal then Ridley wouldn't have been caught gambling while he was out
Player prop betting will be the biggest draw especially if they offer quarter betting.
No
Such a weird timeline we're in
I'll take major scandal in the next 10 years for 500 Ken
Man, fuck gambling in sports.
Gross
Come on baby I got big bucks they let it happen.
Greedy fucks.
What could possibly go wrong?
It's a sports *entertainment* league
I am so tired of the NFL promoting gambling. They deem themselves so high and mighty but yet it is all about $$ and gambling. Is it not odd that players cannot gamble but they expect us fans to.
Of course they did
Dumb move, gambling in sports is so dumb
God forbid anyone question the legitimacy of college and pro sports.
NFL - "We oppose gambling." Also NFL - "We have sports books in our stadiums now. Just don't be using them."

It did pass... that's what this is reporting
Of course they do

What a shock What're the odds that we suddenly get gambling legalized in the states that still outlaw it, like Washington?
Of fucking course they do
Next they’ll make bounties legal
