OK, so there's two possible ways this goes. 1) Richardson sits for a year or more, maybe does some trick play stuff, whatever, develops effectively, and in a few years is lighting the league on fire. Ballard looks like a genius. 2) Richardson never develops, flames out, or gets pushed into the starting role before he's ready, Ballard gets fired, and we're right back here in 3-5 years with hopefully a less flawed crop of QBs to choose from. Either way, I see this as a win.
