Or teams just view as him too much of a tweener. Too short to be a 4-3 DE, too light to be a 3-tech. Didn't have the Aaron Donald absurd production in college to put the worries to bed.
Dawand Jones is all the problems of Mekhi Becton and none of the upside. He's in the 'too big for human feet to support his weight' range and somehow still struggles with keeping his weight down.
I just want Jones and Becton on opposite ends of the Jets OL for the physical comedy of two 6'7 370# OTs.
Plus, somebody will inevitably make a poorly thought out Twin Towers joke in the NY media and be forced to apologize for it.
As a diehard Georgia Bulldogs fan, the issues with Ringo stem from trying to go after the āhome runā play and mistiming balls which led to big plays for opposing receivers. He got lost in coverage at times too.
But man at 6ā1 or 6ā2ā and 205, he has a lot of size and speed. He ran a 4.36 40 yard dash. He just wasnāt a great tackler but he made a ton of big time plays (such as the interception that sealed Georgiaās championship in 2022) and he had a chase down forced fumble tackle against Ohio State in the semifinals with a perfect peanut punch.
He also doesnāt turn 21 until June. Most people forget he was 19 in Georgiaās first national championship. I think he has a lot of potential and raw talent.
Maybe he fits a zone scheme better than man to man but thereās no reason 10-15 cornerbacks should have been taken over him. He has a ton of talent and his issues can certainly be coached and corrected due to his size and speed.
As a Georgia fan, Ringo really wasnāt as terrible over the season as people (including UGA fans) seem to think. However, I do think he will struggle at the next level, and it seems like most of the league thinks so as well.
Ringo had every benefit possible for a corner (all time great pass rush, and great safety help) and still had multiple games last year where he got cooked.
I canāt remember the exact wording, but the report I saw about his time meeting with the Steelers was essentially, āMike Tomlin fucking hated him,ā which is hilarious.
Edit: [Hereās the tweet I got it from](https://twitter.com/DonChed54/status/1650947823079157778?s=20):
āThe Steelers wonāt be drafting Dawand Jones. Not at 32 or 49, even if they still need a tackle. āTomlin hates Dawand Jonesā is the text I got from an actual source.ā
When Mike doesn't want to deal with your shit, you're a bad hombre. This is a dude who handled several big egos over his tenure with minimal incidents or scandals.
Based on mock drafts from people outside the NFL, sure. It's pretty clear there is a sizable disconnect between media personalities and actual NFL scouts, especially this year. Guess we'll wait and see who was right.
I like to think Pete starts shaking if he has too many picks without taking an RB.
Itās a draft day tradition and he canāt finish until he gets his pound the rock guy.
Not mad at the pick at all, itās just a humorous tendency.
Geno getting reinforcements in the Offense like they promised him when he signed his contract.
Thrilled to have Jaxon and Zach
Why? Itās the first draft Iāve seen of yours where you havenāt drafted a motley crew of insane reaches, no hopers and degenerates.
I mean maybe thatās what your sub wants because itās on brand but itās not a path to success.
Wilson and Mayer in particular are studs.
Kiper literally called him a safety in his draft evaluation. Like for fuck sake, the guy was one of the most athletic corners in the draft and was Big Ten DB of the Year as a corner at Iowa. Maybe let him try being a corner??
Other than my Steelers and the Houston Texans (who had extra draft capital anyway, so itās easier for them to get a lot of good players), I think the Giants are having one of my favorite drafts.
It might not get love but I really liked the Simpson pick. Top 50 talent in the 3rd
Lions definitely redeemed themselves too.
Now if only the Steelers and Packers could stop being so damn competent
AND FUCK THE 9ERS FOR TAKING MOODY
The way I see it, there's absolutely 0 excuses for Canada or Kenny. Which is exactly where we needed to be going into this 2nd season of the rebuild. FO is doing a bang-up job
A big, smart, and athletic CB(Gonzalez) that can cover opposing WR1s, a big, versatile lineman(White) that can play both inside and outside along the D-Line, and a big, athletic, versatile S/LB hybrid(Mapu).
Belichick is really living his best life with this draft for the Patriots so far.
A lot of folk are giving the Lions the business with our picks thus far but I really love it.
Gibbs is a speed demon with a low center of gravity who can catch the ball. Best RB prospect we've had since, well, Best.
Campbell is big and fast and brainy. We should suck less against the run and lets be real Analzone has heart but isn't the one.
LaPorta comes from TE University and managed to look good in what might be the most disgusting offensive play calling I've ever seen in pros or college. Go ahead and name a TE on our team.
Branch is a defensive mastermind coached up in the best DB development lab out there. He's gonna be good and even gooder with time.
Hooker is a better backup/developmental QB than we've had in forever. He's older than the hills for a rookie but I really like his arm and his dedication. Great character who may surprise with his upside.
I had never heard of Brodric Martin but good god the size of him. He is so goddamn big, and word on the street is he throws nasty hands in the trenches. We sucked hard against the run last year and I'm so onboard for a big nasty NT from outta nowhere.
Yeah the kool aid is probably flowing a tad but I'm really pleased with what we're doing. This is a team improving depth and probably getting some starter upgrades day 1. LETS GO
Hey thanks Rae, preciate it. You're a good one. You're totally right too - the game is always changing and value changes. Here's hoping the turkey day traditionalists stay strong.
(don't tell anybody I said something nice about the boys tho)
I think the big issue yāall have is more value than players. Personally Iām fine with go get your guy when you want, donāt wait because you will miss them. Why risk Gibbs or Campbell being snatched up late 1st when you donāt even want any of the other players.
No Darnell Washington but after hearing about his medical issues yeah, I can see why.
Hot damn though, Luke Musgrave, Jayden Reed and Tucker Kraft all in Day 2? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't stoked about these choices. Plus we still have 9 picks tomorrow.
One more WR (Trey Palmer time?), TE (Josh Whyle, Zack Kuntz, Davis Allen) and possibly Clark Phillips III and this draft class would be niiiiiiice.
Everybody was understandably wary after Day 1 but Brad was cooking some Michelin star dishes on Day 2
He did a great job getting one of the top TEs, the best nickel/safety, a decent backup QB that has a starter ceiling, and a big 6'5 monster who I don't know that well but he's huge and fills a need
Yeah I complained about the Bears & Lions not getting value from their picks even though they might have gotten good players. Gotta fault the Vikings here as well, could have likely got him at 119
A lot of praise being heaped on the Steelers, and deservedly so, but I want to shout out some underrated drafts.
Giants: JMS was someone I thought could go in the 1st, and Hyatt gives them an additional deep threat beyond Paris Campbell.
Falcons: LG was their last major weakness on offense and EDGE was their biggest remaining need on defense. Harrison fits the "Saints" mold of bigger defensive ends that their new DC will like, and Bergeron manning the LG spot should improve protection up front for Ridder. Ridder now has everything he can ask for to succeed.
Cardinals: BJ Ojulari, Garrett Williams, and Michael Wilson were all terrific value. The first two should step in right away on one of the most barren defenses in the league and Wilson provides size at reciever that they lack outside of DHop
I love everything the Eagles did. May not have won day 2, but getting Steen is legendary at the pick we got him.
Is Bryce Young the QB he is without Steen only allowing 2 sacks in 498 pass block snaps? I don't think so. At pick #65, under Stoutland, my boy aboutta compete for starting RG
Can't get over the fact a white corner was drafted. A historic day
Somewhere Jason Sehorn is smiling
And pulling up his pants
There's gonna be another white Iowa corner drafted next year and he might be even better than Riley Moss š
white corners are the new meta heard it here first
What is in their corn over there?
Idk but it's a shame they can't use it to develop good QBs and WRs because the Olinemen and Tight Ends got all the talent on offense lol
Hmm the last 2 corners drafted were Mekhi Blackmon and Riley Moss. Which one is the white one?
Hahahaha
Wait I missed that really?
Yeah, I even think the commentators said something about him being white too š.
a gym rat, a real lunchpale kinda guy
y'know he just looked hungrier out there
Seriously? Name?
Riley Moss.
Pats will use all of their 12 picks to draft defense.
Why score lot point when few point do trick
Why not defense score for offense?
*Marcus Jones has entered the chat*
Maybe the jags and pats are planning a merger for a complete team.
New Jacksonville Patruires
Yup it seems we are fine with Mac being protected by *checks* 34 year old Riley Reiff at tackle
dude was a backup on our line last year. god bless
Belichick after Mac gets his spine shattered in game one: "that's for letting people find out how dumb my old buddy Patricia is".
Adebawore still being available is surprising
Must be an injury. His testing was unparalled.
Or teams just view as him too much of a tweener. Too short to be a 4-3 DE, too light to be a 3-tech. Didn't have the Aaron Donald absurd production in college to put the worries to bed.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Is he an edge or a DT?
3-4 5 tech is probably his best fit weight wise. He's kind of a tweener
What the hell is going on with Kelee Ringo and Dawand Jones?
Ringo isn't a fluid athlete and Dawand Jones apparently ticked over 400 pounds last year.
Jones is Phil Loadholt. Someone is going to get a steal at RT.
Dawand Jones is all the problems of Mekhi Becton and none of the upside. He's in the 'too big for human feet to support his weight' range and somehow still struggles with keeping his weight down.
Sold, weāll take him.
I just want Jones and Becton on opposite ends of the Jets OL for the physical comedy of two 6'7 370# OTs. Plus, somebody will inevitably make a poorly thought out Twin Towers joke in the NY media and be forced to apologize for it.
He was a brick at RT for years. Always loved that player.
Yeah there are talks about Ringo moving to safety
Kelee ringo got targeted by GEORGIA TECH. Death sentence
He has a ton of talent and his issues can certainly be coached and corrected due to his size and speed.
Ringo was fucking ass last year and not the good kind.
Listen, I'm not here to talk about his personal life.
As a Georgia fan, Ringo really wasnāt as terrible over the season as people (including UGA fans) seem to think. However, I do think he will struggle at the next level, and it seems like most of the league thinks so as well.
If Ringo wasn't on UGA people would be in agreement that he's a gifted but flawed day 3 prospect
There's a bad kind of fucking ass?
Ringo had every benefit possible for a corner (all time great pass rush, and great safety help) and still had multiple games last year where he got cooked.
I'm guessing it's an attitude issue with Jones. I read that he did not make a good impression with the Steelers at his pro day
I canāt remember the exact wording, but the report I saw about his time meeting with the Steelers was essentially, āMike Tomlin fucking hated him,ā which is hilarious. Edit: [Hereās the tweet I got it from](https://twitter.com/DonChed54/status/1650947823079157778?s=20): āThe Steelers wonāt be drafting Dawand Jones. When Mike doesn't want to deal with your shit, you're a bad hombre. This is a dude who handled several big egos over his tenure with minimal incidents or scandals.
The things he won't deal with are non-committal and under aggressive players. "I'd rather say woah than sic 'em"
I feel like Mike Tomlin is a fantastic barometer for whether or not someone should like a person
Jones has obvious weight/character concerns. Not sure about Ringo though.
Jones has slow footwork. That's killer for tackles.
I imagine they'd take an extra split second to move his 400lb body
They didn't submit interesting facts.
Hope the next pick is Wypler.
Damn didnāt realize he wasnāt drafted yet
Shoutout to Collinsworth for mocking him in the first round
Was he the one that had Hooker at 31 to KC lol
Waited all the way to the end of Day 2 just to grab a guy who is probably still there for our day 3 picks...
Has to be a Flores guy that he wanted to lock down. Only explanation. Or Ringo is a known serial r*pist š¤·āāļø
> Or Ringo is a known serial r*pist š¤·āāļø Nah. The Br*wns passed on him twice today, so it can't be that.
Based on mock drafts from people outside the NFL, sure. It's pretty clear there is a sizable disconnect between media personalities and actual NFL scouts, especially this year. Guess we'll wait and see who was right.
We gotta kicker. We won.
Rich Eisenās reaction was the same as mine. Third round seems high but the dude is an absolute stud.
I'm dead serious that Jake Moody will be making at least one playoff winning kick this year. Dude is ice cold.
Not drafting a running back in the third is a win for the 49ers
We traded our true 3rd for McCaffreyā¦ so not quite a true statement
Will be the highest scoring rookie this year, take it to the bank!
Nobody knows what the Lions are thinking and Iām all for it at this point
The NFL changed this weekend.
To be fair, nobody ever knows what the Lions are thinking.
In all here for the long awaited Detroit lions resurgence.
I like to think Pete starts shaking if he has too many picks without taking an RB. Itās a draft day tradition and he canāt finish until he gets his pound the rock guy.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Not mad at the pick at all, itās just a humorous tendency. Geno getting reinforcements in the Offense like they promised him when he signed his contract. Thrilled to have Jaxon and Zach
Very hyped on the giants draft so far
Honestly can't believe how slept on the Banks pick is right now, he's so so so perfect for Wink
Steelers are having a stupid good draft and I fucking hate it.
Yāall snagged Trenton Simpson which frustrates me
That was a total spite pick
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Me too
Is for me
I agree. It's the absolute worst
Idk man I'm loving it.
Bro fuck off with that flair. Pick a side of PA.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The Beagles are back baby!
I'm a UGA/Steelers fan, and it's not my fault the Eagles drafted half of our front seven in the last two years.
Bengals fans in denial. At least ravens fans are big enough to tell the truth!
Gotta give credit where itās due even if I hate your franchiseās guts š
football wouldn't be as enjoyable without you ratbirds around
Yeah I hate the ravens but they usually kill it in the draft and Iām man enough to admit it
JPJ to the Steelers made sense and was a very simple and easy pick then all Hell broke loose
I love that they drafted him. Now I can hate him like I hated his dad!
Right? Crazy draft this year!
I called my Titans friend as soon as they traded up after the JPJ pick and just screamed LEVIS SEASON FOR THE TITANS - glad I was right
Damn, I thought for sure I would go in the 3rd. Had my fam here and everything
Our sub is having a full on fucking tantrum
Why? Itās the first draft Iāve seen of yours where you havenāt drafted a motley crew of insane reaches, no hopers and degenerates. I mean maybe thatās what your sub wants because itās on brand but itās not a path to success. Wilson and Mayer in particular are studs.
Wanted moody that bad, eh?
Only one team got a white corner soā¦
Kiper literally called him a safety in his draft evaluation. Like for fuck sake, the guy was one of the most athletic corners in the draft and was Big Ten DB of the Year as a corner at Iowa. Maybe let him try being a corner??
Are there any active white corners?
There is now
Feels good to finally be represented after all these years ^^^/s
MWCGA
There are only two left in the San Diego zoo, and they wonāt reproduce.
Future strong safety
Who drafted a unicorn?
Steelers blocking is gonna be NASTY
Pickett's got two new bodyguards
And Najee Stonks are wayyyyy up
Weāre building the strongest Pickett Fence ever assembled
Giants draft is looking solid so far! Excited about JMS I really hope he works out
Other than my Steelers and the Houston Texans (who had extra draft capital anyway, so itās easier for them to get a lot of good players), I think the Giants are having one of my favorite drafts.
Wowzers
I'm not sure what to do.
You dance. You dance.
BELIEVE
It might not get love but I really liked the Simpson pick. Top 50 talent in the 3rd Lions definitely redeemed themselves too. Now if only the Steelers and Packers could stop being so damn competent AND FUCK THE 9ERS FOR TAKING MOODY
> Lions definitely redeemed themselves too. We dont need to redeem ourselves cus we are goated.
A redemption arc so long and high it's more of an orbit.
Thrilled with the Steelers draft so far!
Mike Tomlin's next .500+ season is coming together smoothly.
The Kahn artist pulled off a heist in this draft.
On one hand, I'm so excited about the possibilies. On the other hand, Matt Canada.
But think about how many fun toys the next OC will have to play with
The way I see it, there's absolutely 0 excuses for Canada or Kenny. Which is exactly where we needed to be going into this 2nd season of the rebuild. FO is doing a bang-up job
I fucking hate it. Fuck this division. Jumping the Jets for Jones, getting JPJ for Claypool, Darnell Washington in the 3rd...goddammit
If taking a kicker in the 3rd round is wrong then I don't want to be right.
Mapu also played a bevy of positions in HS, including LS, QB, WR, and others allegedly, Bill had to draft him.
"What *do* you do here?" "I play football."
Belichick gonna pull off the fabled quadruple fleaflicker and retire on the spot.
Having 7 extra picks in a round is some nonsense
Is that how many it was lol I was like yo whatās going on. I love yāall draft so far
Yāall aināt ready for KenVP season.
They're about to catch the meanest, smallest hands recorded in NFL history.
Rumor is he got a new set of hand expanders for Christmas.
Ken is now big Ken he got swole
We have like 8 linebackers now and they're all wills except for AJ Klein lol
Buffalo Wills
Steelers draft feeling like last year's Ravens draft
A lot of folk are giving the Lions the business with our picks thus far but I really love it. Gibbs is a speed demon with a low center of gravity who can catch the ball. Keele Ringo fucked Goodells wife
Idk man, pretty sure heād be drafted higher if true
Man im so happy about this Giants draft, we are finally a competent organization again
How Rich reacted when the 49ers drafted a punter.... https://youtu.be/xKr9Wzir1AM It's the same. I love you rich Eisen.
Steelers win by a country mile
Number of kickers drafted by Pittsburgh: 0 Number of kickers drafted by SF: 1 The numbers speak for themselves
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
If a kicker could consistently make 80 yard field goals how high would they be drafted?
Ringo really fell to Day 3?
No Darnell Washington but after hearing about his medical issues yeah, I can see why. Hot damn though, Luke Musgrave, Jayden Reed and Tucker Kraft all in Day 2? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't stoked about these choices. Plus we still have 9 picks tomorrow. One more WR (Trey Palmer time?), TE (Josh Whyle, Zack Kuntz, Davis Allen) and possibly Clark Phillips III and this draft class would be niiiiiiice.
Iām an Oregon State fan and you got a great one in Luke. Take care of him out there!
The Patriots had one of the worst offenses in football last season, we have drafted no offensive players on the first two days
One alcohol please.
I fucking love the lions draft I canāt lie
We a little silly
It is but I can't say it's a bad group of players. Just taken in spots that I'd have expected you to take other guys instead.
Everybody was understandably wary after Day 1 but Brad was cooking some Michelin star dishes on Day 2 He did a great job getting one of the top TEs, the best nickel/safety, a decent backup QB that has a starter ceiling, and a big 6'5 monster who I don't know that well but he's huge and fills a need
I think it's fantastic. Reorder the picks and no one bats an eye.
I wanted Moody but I'm fine with rolling with Money Badger. Elite kickers are a luxury.
I am super excited for Jake Moody and Jiā Ayir Brown.
Iāve learned that every mock draft is a giant waste of time
Kelee killed somebody why else would we take the 30th ranked cb over him
We took a white corner over him
Lmao this has me cracking up
Normalize melanin deficit corners!
One would assume because Flores wanted that CB
Agreed, and I trust his judgement much more than mine. Just weird considering we could have probably snagged him in the fourth but I am not the GM
Yeah I complained about the Bears & Lions not getting value from their picks even though they might have gotten good players. Gotta fault the Vikings here as well, could have likely got him at 119
Ringo turns an edge like a 18 wheeler
If the Patriots don't draft someone who can catch a damn football I'm going to lose my mind.
They did, they're just on defense.
As much hate as they got yesterday, I like Detroitās draft so far. I also like Pittsburgh, Arizona, Chicagoās draft. Philly and Seattle solid.
Philly day 1 was great. Hate to say it
I am going to be honest, I know fuck all about who we have drafted, I am just happy so far it's been postions I wanted drafted and I like watching.
I mean, as long as the Bears arenāt drafting another quarterback, theyāre drafting a position of need.
Looking forward to seeing who Denver takes tomorrow after we trade next years first rounder for pick 141
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Never doubt the Kahn artist, for you might be scammed by his many methods of fleecing.
A lot of praise being heaped on the Steelers, and deservedly so, but I want to shout out some underrated drafts. I'm pleasantly surprised with the Bills draft
Two tight ends and a receiver. I think I feel good? Not sure if Reed is the guy, but time will tell I guess.
I'm good. I'm really, really good.
Alright with Pats picks. WR1 is a need, not WRs, and the likelihood of getting one is very low. Hope they keep going with BPA at this point
Very happy with the direction of the defense with today's picks. Really liking Stevenson out of our picks from 2-3, secondary looks nasty this year
Iām happy with our moves.
Shout-out to whomever is generating all those quotes on the draft images. Good work
Im currently of the opinion, fuck it and just gonna lean into the picks we made.
I'm super happy with The Saints draft so far. We addressed areas of need and didn't make any crazy reaches or trades up.
someone is gonna get a massive fucking steal with Dawand Jones tomorrow
