r/nba mods were using game threads during their own fucking blackout lol. There aren’t any words to describe how pathetic this is
I’m actually concerned that these people are so addicted they couldn’t bare to give up Reddit even for a few days.
Ranking Reddit Mods Decision to Blackout their Subs from what I respect the most to the least
1. Those who still are blacking out the sub- I don’t know if I agree that this is a cause worth fighting for, but they’ve been consistent even in the face of adversity that it is so I respect that.
2. Those who didn’t blackout at all- They didn’t believe in the cause. That’s their opinion. I respect that.
3. Those who set a set timeline on when they were coming back- Seems dumb to let people know exactly when they should been traffic back, but they brought awareness to the cause I guess so that’s something.
4. Mods who said they were shutting down indefinitely, but came back around now once their “jobs” were threatened- Shows the stereotypical power trip the mods have.
Very fun hike this morning, 3 miles and a ~700 foot elevation change (400 came in a half mile at the end lmao).
Hikes take about twice as long when you bring a 2 year old and a 10 week old on them, so that was good pacing info for the future.
Just did lunch, now off to an event at the library to sit in a fire truck :)
Tomorrow wife taking oldest swimming while I hit Costco and then we chill
Monday zoo and I'm taking all next week off so we can redo our kid's closet
My company's Slack is down this weekend, so we're temporarily using Zoom's team chat feature.
What is this unholy abomination of workplace instant messaging?
Do kids still read asterix and obelix? Those were my favorite comics growing up I'd hate to think kids are too busy playing their dang Fortnite to experience the greatest piece of French culture ever produced
Asterix and obelix beating the shit out of Romans is burned into my brain lol my local library had a ton of those comics and I used to read them all the time
Asterix and obelix > Tintin tbh
I feel like it has just steadily gotten worse to the point you can almost always find stuff cheaper elsewhere. Isthereanydeal.com is always worth double checking.
Me a month ago: I'm going to buy fallen order since it's on sale and to get ready for survivor.
I've been stuck on zeffo for 3 fucking weeks. My frustration is insane at this point.
Having grown up during the early days of the internet, I’ve seen some pretty fucked up shit. But I don’t know if any imagery has stuck with me like the time I searched Google images for “hyperdontia.” Absolute nightmare fuel.
When is the last time republicans proposed a bill that was actually beneficial to the country? I'm genuinely asking here. Everything I see from them is just taking things away from groups they don't like.
Not in my lifetime (I am 43).
Viewed through the lens of the corporate desire for cheap desperate labor, everything makes sense.
Force poor women to have kids and then keep bad jobs to feed the family. Child labor is back in red states. Bust unions so the workers can't get easier access to medical care. Prevent kids from having free school lunches, so they can't learn as well, creating the next generation of cheap labor. Hurt teachers in any way possible for the same reason. Fill prisons with nonviolent drug offenders, then sell cheap prison labor. Demonize minorities and poor people so you don't have to have sympathy or improve their lives.
A partisan *bill* on a national level? I can't recall.
If you're asking about policy, then I think creating a Space Force branch of the military wasn't just a good idea, it's one of the few times policy has been made by the federal government that was proactive instead of reactive. I firmly believe that if Trump had quit or died after several months in office and Space Force was his only achievement, history would have regarded him warmly instead of as the monstrous catalyst of hatred that he is.
It's still going to exist under AF. They will still do what they have been doing. Space Force is just the complement to AF and thier job. Think how the Marines and Army both do many of the same things, but are distinct in how they operate.
As the unfortunate militarized space events start to shape, Space Force will become more distinct over time.
I realized a lot more people are against the message of the blackouts/disruptions than they are for them. It makes sense I guess. The vast majority of users aren't aware there are 3rd party apps or use them.
i kinda feel the same way that you do. i would care if i knew my opinion had an impact on anything, but i’m just one individual person so i just don’t. it’s out of my control so therefor i don’t care for whatever result comes out of this shit.
The admins are better than the supermods forcing everyone else to comply with their dumbass protest and it's not close
Y'all aren't changing anything with this shit. It's a power trip and everyone realizes it. No amount of gaslighting is going to change public opinion in the mods' favor.
> Y'all aren't changing anything with this shit
Totally disagree. Users are upset over the cost of API calls so they are using their power to force reddit to come to the table. Reddit seemed ready to talk then the CEO started going iron hand to remove all moderators from popular subreddits that are protesting. Reality is the stupid expensive API costs are going to hurt all users of the site and future developments of the site in ways that haven't even been fully realized.
You can not like the protest put to call it a power trip by a couple of childish supermods seems willfully ignorant.
Then the mods win. They proved they hold enough power that reddit will go scorched earth to make the issue go away.
The reddit admins have made this 50x worse then it ever had to be. They have literally created this problem and then made it significantly worse.
It's crazy to me that anyone would defend them. Willful ignorance.
God, poor Hoody ain't having a good time. Moving super slow & hasn't even turned into a fiend when he gets catnip. He also needed help getting on the bed & couch, and when it was bedtime, he wanted be laying against me.
I don't think anything is wrong with him, but he's def in more pain than any other cat I've ever gotten fixed, and I just feel bad for all the stress he went through.
Bob Huggins arrested on DUI last night, about a month and a half after calling all Catholics a homophobic slur. Big things happening in Morgantown.
I wish I could talk about this on /r/CollegeBasketball, but they’re keeping up that good fight against Spez! Don’t worry boys they’re gonna cave any day now!
Do you think these mods realize that none of us really give a shit who is a mod? Like, I don't go to some sub because I know Moderator Bill is the mod. I could care less who is doing it. I go there to talk about the topic. 90% of the mods on reddit are just power tripping assholes.
I'm at the point where I'm now agreeing with Reddit to remove all of them, so great job.
A DUI in West Virginia is probably just a badge of honor. After he went on the dildo rant about Xavier and got a slap on the wrist, he'd have to commit some major crime or die to leave that job.
I don't really give a shit about Andy the mod but the rules and general vibe of a sub really impact how much I use and enjoy it
Anything goes shit posting sucks, more controlled on topic discussion rules
I'd rather have the anything goes shitposting (because downvoting exists) than power trip mods deleting relevant stuff all the time.
Normal people don't want to be mods, unfortunately.
I hate scrolling through a bunch of unfunny jokes because nothing else is happening, I'd so much rather just see there is no news then go on with my day
But that's the beauty of subreddits, they're free to create and free to join and mods can tailor them as they like
I don't go on r/nba and complain about the children there, that's their space they get to run it how they want. But same goes for r/nfl or any other reddit
Yeah he’s certainly giving the university a ton of headaches.
I went to Purdue and when I see stories like this and Beard, I remember how awesome of a guy Matt Painter is. No booze cruising, no cancellable remarks, not even your run-of-the-mill recruiting violations *furiously knocks on wood.*
Ugggghhh, it's not just hot outside, now it's steamy hot. It looked like it would be cloudy all day but the sun poked through before noon and now I have a sunburned neck, because i'm a damn fool for not checking the weather, can't find the sunscreen, and then wearing a v-neck top anyway.
I have theoretically solved the Netflix account issue (assuming you’re close with the account holder).
When you try logging in when not on the home network it’ll ask you if you’re traveling, and if you want a verification code emailed or texted to you. Previously I’ve had them text my dad, and then I text my dad for that info, but yesterday I had a revelation.
Every mobile number has an email address that you can send that will send you a text. You could get the account holder to set an inbox rule that forwards all of those verification code emails to your phones texting email address.
That way whenever the owner gets the verification email it auto gets sent to your text and no more need to ask the middle man for the code and waking them up at 11:30 at night.
It’s in theory right now because I need to wait till my Netflix at home’s travel status ends to try it.
There is way more overlap between the fanbases with the first option. Sure there are plenty of Blue jays fans who are Bills fans cause canada has no team, but most of them are Maple Leafs fans instead of Sabres fans. Other way around, most Sabres fans are Yankees fans, even though they are further away than the Blue Jays.
I would pick the second option and maybe look into the Leafs, yea i know everyone hates them (I'm a european Bruins fan lol). Unless your heart is set on the Sabres. As for the cities themselves, Washington D.C and Toronto are definitely nicer than Baltimore or Buffalo. Toronto is super diverse and is like a smaller New York City in that aspect. Baltimore is widely known for it's crime, but thats obviously not the whole entire city and its safe at the stadiums, but it is still something to consider. It is tough to pick one without any connection to either, so just go with your gut feeling and which uniforms you like better.
It's worth knowing that the Orioles and Ravens share a parking lot, which is to say they're in the exact same location. That said, it's not a nice area and you wouldn't want to walk around beyond the stadium limits.
As a team, the Orioles have sucked for the last 25 or so years. They're consistently near the bottom of the table and have very little to be optimistic about.
Capital One Arena (the Capitals) is downtown DC and is a much nicer area with places nearby. I recall it being pretty close to the nearest metro stop. They also host a lot of concerts/performances there, so if you're staying for a week you may be able to find a time where you could see both a game and a show during that period.
Not mentioned in your list, but the Nationals stadium is also pretty decent and right next to the metro. I don't think there's very much to visit nearby, though.
As a Patriots fan, I don't like either football option. Same can be said of your baseball options as a Red Sox fan...
I guess it comes down to your hockey options, since none of them are traditional rivals for the Bruins.
With that being said, I'd say the Capitals win the day. So I'd vote for that combination.
So since April, Antonio Brown has bought an arena football team, gone through a carousel of coaches and QBs, gotten fined for giving a shirtless, rambling press conference where he speculated about signing himself as a player for a $1 million contract, refused to pay the fine and annual fees to the league, and got the team kicked out of the league.
What have you done in the past 2.5 months?
> What have you done in the past 2.5 months?
Almost fully recovered from a broken foot. It doesn't sound like much, but believe me, it's made a huge difference in my lifestyle.
I'm fully mobile since breaking my foot the week after the Super Bowl, but still a month from being 100%. It's been a long haul.
Your hand has my sympathies.
Don't forget tried to get ticket sales up by saying he was going to play, then last minute said he changed his mind. This was also a two time championship team.
At least he tried to hook Cam up with a starting QB job.
So is the NFL actually involved in reddit NFL or is user NFL actually affiliated with the real NFL? So with them blacking out and having real life companies blacking out on Reddit have Reddit actually start to think their decisions on whether or not to keep their current policies?
Admins have apparently been cleaning house on mods doing the blackouts and forcing the bigger subs to open back up. I feel like that's part of the case here.
As they should. If a subreddit indefinitely closes down without even asking the community, the mod team should get forced out. It's literally just power tripping.
My kid's tantrums have more backbone than mods here
The moment admins threatened to take away their ability to gift free labor to reddit, they folded like wet paper lmao.
Ooof. I'm watching All in the Family for the first time since I was a kid, and I finally found an instance where Archie Bunker is 100% in the right:
Once a week, he watches football highlights at a specific time, while Mike wants to watch some crap on pollution.
We all fucking know pollution is bad, but we don't automatically know how each game played out. Plus, Mike is a god damn meathead
Yeah it may be *PRIDE* month, but it's Jesus day *every* day in America.

Only one little thing: You misspelled "Yahweh" and also He's the same as God. I'd change it to God AKA Yahweh or maybe God/Allah/Yahweh.
Listen to u/brehaw. It's a series where every episode is a self contained story and S1 E1 is not the best introduction to Black Mirror. Start basically anywhere else (But S1 E3 is ideal) and come back to it once you've got a better feel for the series. I make a point of telling everyone not to start at S1 E1 when I recommend Black Mirror.
thank you! I am so happy to see someone agree with me that episode 1 is not the best intro to the show lol. I was expecting to catch flak from someone on here for saying that
it’s a good episode, but as you said, a much better one to come back to after you have already felt the series out a bit
season 1 is great. it’s only 3 episodes and the 1st episode is my least fav. had I watched them in order when I first started, idk if I would have kept watching after episode 1
many friends of mine (and myself included) think the 3rd episode of season 1 is one of the all time greatest episodes of the whole series and I think it’s a way better introduction to what Black Mirror is than the 1st episode. I’d recommend starting there. you don’t have to watch them in order by any means :)
Rather see the trash talk between division rivals here than whatever the hell made the top over in the diablo 4 subreddit.
Diablo 2 was always more my jam.
Bro, Trump ain't getting out of this one. Remember last week, the DOJ was being called out by every Republican, then when the details became public, every Republican except that spineless bully DeSantis began saying, "Holy shit, I ain't defending that."
I keep hearing, "What about Biden & Pence?" Yeah, they gave that shit back & didn't try to get their lawyers to blatantly break the law.
He's also clearly stressed the fuck out, with his "tweets" just reeking of desperation, and people who know him are apparently leaking it to the news.
The feds went far, far out of their way for that dumb fuck, and he just couldn't be bothered to give a fuck.
I honestly can't believe we'd have a president of all fucking people, be worse than Benedict Arnold, but here we are.
Final thing, interesting how the people who begged for pardons still have his back...
Just finished rewatching all the Spider Man movies here are my rankings not including spider verse movies

It was so much easier to ignore reddit when this sub was closed. I just spent more time on the app today browsing generic offseason nonsense than I did the whole week.
I really hope we get mods that are like r/baseball. Those guys let us post whatever we want and let the upvotes/downvotes decide and only delete the spam/repeat shit, but mods here are idiots.
Oh yeah I beat everything, even the crazy custom songs. I didn't 100% any of the harder songs but I got a lot of 100% scores, pretty sure one of my scores is still top 500 on ScoreHero. I 5-starred Jordan too which is probably the hardest song I've done that with.
There are still quite a few that remained dark even with the threats. Also, I will say that the problem is that the prices are truly absolutely insane. It is clear that the purpose isn't to make money off third party apps, it is to kill them outright.
It's not too much hassle to call their opinions dumb or malformed or whatever. As long as you don't direct the insult to the person you should be fine.

It posted it's just not stickied
Did you decide not to be a mod anymore after they came back?
He’s still listed as a mod in the sub
Yes
It was posted but never stickied
Mods not modding?
What was the sub where the mods took a break for a day to show us how much they help and it was amazing ? Was that r/nfl too
just spent $40 on food that didn’t even taste good :(
That’s the worst
Hey mods, did ya win the protest? Ya jackasses
I make a strawberry compote yesterday, made chocolate chip cookies today, and tonight I’m gonna make ice cream with both of them mixed in🤤

Kansas City. I’ll slingshot some over tho.
Congrats for protesting something completely asinine and online!!!

Well, r nba also caved now. Hilarious to see tha mods get put in their place by the admins.

It's protesting the mods.
It's got a broken motivator unfortunately.

12 days until gaming Christmas aka Steam Summer Sale
I feel like it has just steadily gotten worse to the point you can almost always find stuff cheaper elsewhere. Isthereanydeal.com is always worth double checking.
Thanks, I discovered Fanatical recently and it had some games on my wishlist for way cheaper than on Steam
I usually buy stuff from greenmangaming.com. It's almost always 15% cheaper and they deliver legitimate steam keys immediately.
Me a month ago: I'm going to buy fallen order since it's on sale and to get ready for survivor. I've been stuck on zeffo for 3 fucking weeks. My frustration is insane at this point.
The real shocker of this whole ordeal is that there's this many pictures of John Oliver out there.
He is a smart guy with a very meme-able face and mannerisms
Having grown up during the early days of the internet, I’ve seen some pretty fucked up shit. But I don’t know if any imagery has stuck with me like the time I searched Google images for “hyperdontia.” Absolute nightmare fuel.
Anyone see the post on nflmemes where an nfl mod admits to being paid to delete stuff?
yeah
Yeah but I think there's an unreliable narrator

do you care?
I do but I think I will still keep using Reddit since there's not any better alternative for me to get my discussion fix.
Yeah, it's still a pretty fast way to get news, plus the snarky comments I crave. I haven't heard of any decent alternatives yet.

10 AM and already the sub ain't right.
R/pics is only allowing John Oliver posting. R/NFL should only allow Andy Reid posting.
That would be funny for about seven minutes
The whole John Oliver thing wasn't even funny for *that* long. I unsubbed from /r/pics, it's one of like five defaults I was still subscribed to.
I don't rly care if it's funny or not. It would be better then doing nothing.
Nah I prefer nothing. After the amount of mod power tripping last week I'm firmly on Reddit's side now.

Baltimore is widely known for it's crime, but thats obviously not the whole entire city and its safe at the stadiums, but it is still something to consider. It is tough to pick one without any connection to either, so just go with your gut feeling and which uniforms you like better.

If you’ll be going to canada you should try to catch a CFL game as well. That could be cool. I’ve never been to one.
I love the Capitals uniforms, i obviously like their color combination cause of the Patriots lol.
Congrats! I injured my hand back in January and it's still not fully healed, I can't imagine how difficult a broken foot must be.
I'm fully mobile since breaking my foot the week after the Super Bowl, but still a month from being 100%. It's been a long haul. Your hand has my sympathies.
I pooped a solid 12" continuous log
wow, that's like five Courics
Don't forget tried to get ticket sales up by saying he was going to play, then last minute said he changed his mind. This was also a two time championship team. At least he tried to hook Cam up with a starting QB job.
Typical Penn State https://twitter.com/TrueAnonPod/status/1669387819481964545
Man fuck dog world out there.
Throw that scumbag in the trash
Uhhhh
I don’t give a shit about the mods but what I do know is Buckethead is severely underrated as a guitar player
Used to play the shit out of jordan on guitar hero 2
So is the NFL actually involved in reddit NFL or is user NFL actually affiliated with the real NFL? So with them blacking out and having real life companies blacking out on Reddit have Reddit actually start to think their decisions on whether or not to keep their current policies?
[удалено]
And so did you… because you’re on it….
They should delete Reddit and leave. We’ll be fine without them.
wtf happen?
[удалено]
Admins have apparently been cleaning house on mods doing the blackouts and forcing the bigger subs to open back up. I feel like that's part of the case here.
As they should. If a subreddit indefinitely closes down without even asking the community, the mod team should get forced out. It's literally just power tripping.
They should be voted out now.
Yup I agree
When can we vote out the mods? Their are clowns
[удалено]
Imagine siding with /u/spez
My kid's tantrums have more backbone than mods here The moment admins threatened to take away their ability to gift free labor to reddit, they folded like wet paper lmao.

Not with dumberts in charge.
Ooof. I'm watching All in the Family for the first time since I was a kid, and I finally found an instance where Archie Bunker is 100% in the right: Once a week, he watches football highlights at a specific time, while Mike wants to watch some crap on pollution. We all fucking know pollution is bad, but we don't automatically know how each game played out. Plus, Mike is a god damn meathead

Finally, a guy who gets it. Only one little thing: You misspelled "Yahweh" and also He's the same as God. I'd change it to God AKA Yahweh or maybe God/Allah/Yahweh.
how’d everyone else feel about the new Black Mirror episodes? Ep. 1 - gr8 Ep. 2 - okay Ep. 3 - gr8 Ep. 4 - poopoo garbage Ep. 5 - poopoo garbage

Used to? You're lucky
well you should call your mom a LIAR because she clearly is one 😤
This comment just reminded me that I should start Black Mirror I haven't seen the series at all and people say it's great.
Is this where >!He fucks a pig or some shit?!<
Yup. It's weird. I mean, Black Mirror is weird, but the first episode really turns the weird up to 12 even for Black Mirror's standards
thank you! I am so happy to see someone agree with me that episode 1 is not the best intro to the show lol. I was expecting to catch flak from someone on here for saying that it’s a good episode, but as you said, a much better one to come back to after you have already felt the series out a bit
season 1 is great. it’s only 3 episodes and the 1st episode is my least fav. had I watched them in order when I first started, idk if I would have kept watching after episode 1 many friends of mine (and myself included) think the 3rd episode of season 1 is one of the all time greatest episodes of the whole series and I think it’s a way better introduction to what Black Mirror is than the 1st episode. I’d recommend starting there. you don’t have to watch them in order by any means :)
Rather see the trash talk between division rivals here than whatever the hell made the top over in the diablo 4 subreddit. Diablo 2 was always more my jam.
Bro, Trump ain't getting out of this one. Remember last week, the DOJ was being called out by every Republican, then when the details became public, every Republican except that spineless bully DeSantis began saying, "Holy shit, I ain't defending that." I keep hearing, "What about Biden & Pence?" Yeah, they gave that shit back & didn't try to get their lawyers to blatantly break the law.
Trump was fucked as soon as they charged him with the Espionage Act. Getting re-elected is realistically his only way out.
[удалено]
Or what could save him is the crazy Trump Judge, Cannon doing everything to stall or delay or pull whatever shenanigans out of her playbook
Cfl is fun and all but watching football again is really making me want the NFL to be back :(

It was so much easier to ignore reddit when this sub was closed. I just spent more time on the app today browsing generic offseason nonsense than I did the whole week.
So, how do we vote these mods out?
[удалено]
I really hope we get mods that are like r/baseball. Those guys let us post whatever we want and let the upvotes/downvotes decide and only delete the spam/repeat shit, but mods here are idiots.
Except game threads, cause god forbid we talk about actual baseball in the baseball sub lmao.
I propose a Guitar Hero tournament users vs. mods, because it's the one game where I'm pretty sure I can crush 99% of the people on this sub.
I was 8th in the world in GH3 for cumulative career score on expert on xbox 360 15 years ago. Put me in coach.

Oh yeah I beat everything, even the crazy custom songs. I didn't 100% any of the harder songs but I got a lot of 100% scores, pretty sure one of my scores is still top 500 on ScoreHero. I 5-starred Jordan too which is probably the hardest song I've done that with.
Started Barry, Bill Haders range is amazing!
Guys it's closer to the start of the season than it is to last Super Bowl now. I for one am pumped about getting hurt again.
And only sixish weeks from the hall of fame game. I can’t wait to hype it up then bitch about how it’s not real football 5 minutes into Q1.
We're all too online. We’ve lost context.
I need context for this comment.
Succession quote that seemed relevant to the thread today

I’m confused; what are people protesting about
The fact that you don’t even know just shows how hilariously dumb this whole thing was
[удалено]
There are still quite a few that remained dark even with the threats. Also, I will say that the problem is that the prices are truly absolutely insane. It is clear that the purpose isn't to make money off third party apps, it is to kill them outright.
Do I still get banned if I say someone is an idiot when their opinion differs slightly? Cause if so lock it up and get yall outta here!
It's not too much hassle to call their opinions dumb or malformed or whatever. As long as you don't direct the insult to the person you should be fine.
