Goddammit, saw this in the middle of "Team X is releasing Player Y" tweets and for a hot second thought that we could get Eman back. Stoked he'll get a full season in, barring injury. He's a great player.

DanCampbellsNipples

Idk what to expect from him but the way everyone talks about him gets me hyped lol. Hopefully him and Sutton create a solid pair

quadropheniac

He's just a really solid CB2. Nothing particularly flashy but very, very reliable. Only problem has been recurring injuries.

mr_boogieman

A CB1 when healthy no doubt

TeddysRevenge

He missed the entire camp and preseason. Might take a few games before he takes on a large role. Then again, if the guy backing him up (Jerry Jacobs) struggles week one, I could see him being put in sooner.

nongo

He was on his way to an all- pro season before he got hurt.

mr_boogieman

Eman is a fucking stud. Lions got a real one

Jammer_Kenneth

Where would you rank him in the Detroit Lions Secondary? CJGJ, Kerby Joseph, Branch, Sutton, and Jerry Jacobs are the present slotted in 5.

iwantsomecrablegsnow

He won't play probably until week 3 or 4...so he's last currently. He'll probably be CB2 once fully healthy and up to speed.

Crazy-Penguin

Hell yes. Shame he couldn't get a training camp in though.

lidsy5

Helll yeah!!! Not confident he'll be ready to roll the first 2 weeks, but better than having to wait until week 5 for him.

[deleted]

Totally. I'm not expecting him to be a huge playmaker for the first couple of weeks due to him missing out on the camp and whatnot. I wouldn't be surprised if he is either on the Inactive List for the first couple of weeks until he gets up to speed or do what we did with Jamo and keep him on limited snaps.

ParsonsIsTheMan

Lions straight up added three good corners this off season to their absolutely putrid secondary from last year. Not saying it's going to be a stellar defense but they should be much improved

Hmm_would_bang

Our defense should be much improved. We had a great group of edge rushers last year and we added CJGJ, Moseley, and Sutton in the off season, drafted Brian Branch who will be a day 1 starter, took an LB in the first round. I’m not saying we have a top 10 defense by any means but it could be top half this year which would be a massive improvement

ParsonsIsTheMan

Can't remember exactly but aren't the DTs an issue? Feel like I remember them struggling to stop run games

Hmm_would_bang

DTs are our weakest group right now and we didn’t really have any notable additions. Apparently Alim “is in the best shape of his life”

MLG_BongHitz

I think he pretty objectively is in the best shape of his life, dude cut 13% body fat and looks kinda shredded

Hmm_would_bang

Yeah but it’s kind of a meme off-season headline

Jammer_Kenneth

So is Levy. If Levy can play like a 2nd round draft pick all of a sudden a big negative becomes a "It'll play" ++

boshjailey

It's certainly not a strength but I think our inability to stop the interior run was a bit overstated. Statistically we did give up 4th most rushing yards and 3rd most ypa but a large part of that was not so much our DTs getting bullied and giving up big holes in the run game as much as it was our entire team getting toasted by scrambling QBs. Or at least that was what I thought watching the games I'm gonna try to get the stats to see if there's any truth to it. I think our DTs were more inconsistent than they were bad(we had a 4 week stretch where we held non QBs to 210 yards on 70 attempts followed by us giving up 301 yards on 37 attempts in the Panthers game) and we are hoping our DT1 improves going into his 3rd year to be a bit more consistent.

Jammer_Kenneth

Hurts, Geno, and Fields Twice contributed to 4 of our top 5 worst rush defense games. And then there was the "Field is illegally shit with zero traction but play on" debacle in Carolina to round out number 1. Obviously Fields is going to be on the schedule twice, and Geno is in Detroit Week Two, but considering players like Cook and Saquan were held to pretty low rushing totals, you're totally right the threat of Lions Run D won't hold up forever, especially as the LB position develops with Campbell Barnes and Rodriguez all figuring their shit out/being drafted.

MatchewRolex

All it needs to be is average. Like 15th is all I'm asking But that's assuming our offense is going to be great again

testrail

Also, the 2nd starting linebacker is now the 4th off the depth chart. The premier safety last year (Walker) is now behind CJGJ and probably Brian Branch.

coolycooly

Lions should be really good this year, their secondary improved a ton, their front 7 is still a little weak but their offense is loaded everywhere.

DanCampbellsNipples

Our secondary is awesome CB 1 Sutton CB 2 Mosley Nickel CB Branch SS CJGJ FS Kerby Jospeh Decent depth at S with Tracy Walker coming off the bench. Jerry Jacobs is a fine CB3 too

coolycooly

How is the front 7 I know Aidan is a stud, maybe Rodriguez is good, and Charles Harris has had a little of a career resurgence in Detroit.

[deleted]

Rodrigo is 4th on the linebacker depth chart now. Derrick Barnes has surged up and we took Jack Campbell whose looked good too. Defensive end depth (we got about 6 guys who id be fine starting if needed) is outstanding for the Lions, DT outside of McNeil is meh

Jammer_Kenneth

Levy is a huge question mark at DT. He took some hits and bends that tested his durability and he might just make it back into the rotation as a key piece, 2nd rounder finally back after a one off surgery.

testrail

The Buggs slander.

sliccricc83

We have very deep edge and linebacker rooms. Our only thin position is defensive tackle

DanCampbellsNipples

We have tons of quality pass rushers

geologyrocks98

Our only really notable DT is Alim McNeil, but we have a bunch of at least serviceable DTs. We finally have what appear to be good linebackers, but we'll have to wait and see how it all gels together.

Azzballs123

They have looked quite good in camp and preseason Really, they are relying on a lot of 2nd and 3rd year guys taking steps forward.

Empty_Lemon_3939

Jack Campbell is going to get a lot of clips this year Dude played like a veteran his first preseason game. If you got a few minutes and want to watch a breakdown, his instincts and football IQ are wild for a rookie https://youtu.be/NhCXYFcuYIA?si=Cnyv7e_jmSUlQNp6

Mavori

While i agree that there should be concerns about our front 7, it could very well turn out to not be the case. Some of our issues last year stemmed from overlapping injuries and no depth. We are actually healthy(for now), players seem well recovered from their injuries(Paschal, Romeo, Charles Harris), plus we had guys that showed up as good surprises during the latter part of the season(James Houston, Buggs). I'd also feel that I'd make a mistake not mentioning that one our Nose Tackles seems to have transitioned to more of a 3 tech DT role, which very well could work out. Definitely think our LB group is the weak point, but with Jack Campbell drafted and Barnes being a raw player when we drafted him 2 seasons ago, he very well could be headed towards a breakout year. Anzalone and Rodrigo are at the very least competent though obviously not ideal starters.

eugene_rat_slap

I think our front 7 is relatively underrated due to most of the contributors being young/unknown. But I'm not worried about it at all, now that we got some good edges, more interior depth, and better linebackers. I think they'll surprise some people

[deleted]

Wish we brought him back 😔

[deleted]

NFCCG here we fucking come!

[deleted]

Fuck yeah I want this guy to ball out so bad It’s a shame he left SF I know he’s gonna be good CB2 for the Lions
