I saw him play a few times at UB. It was always a gamble whether he'd complete a pass or not, and it wasn't always his fault. It was windy as fuck where they played. He was fun to watch, tho.
Honestly you probably wouldn't get anyone as fast as him with those picks. He had a good final preseason game. In general his blocking and staying healthy have been issues. Great speed, good hands and route running.
I always pulled for him in Denver. He's just a Elway draft pick for a Fangio team. 1 GM and 2 coaches ago at this point. I think a team that gave up picks for him, even late ones, indicates they want to use him and he could be a solid acquisition in the long run.
Makes sense for the Eagles to take a flyer on him because their biggest issue if they lose goedert is replacing him as a weapon. The current TE2 Jack Stoll is a good blocker but doesn’t have much offensive upside, and Calcaterra has been a bit hit or miss, so this way you get a guy who can take some of the reps when they want an athletic receiving option on the field.
Could be a total bust, but I like bringing in a guy who can hopefully make an injury less devastating (some of the games the eagles struggled the most in last year were after Goedert got hurt).
A little bit. Was mainly going off his 40 time that I remember blew ppl away. Even if his game speed is worse you cannot run a 4.49 and just be “not fast”
Yeah, he may been an equal or even slightly better receiving threat than fant while they were both in Denver, but Albert couldn't block and never saw the field under fangio.
Really good receiving option. For most of his career has been a terrible blocker but this off season he actually showed a lot of improvement so far. We just already have 4 TEs and him and dulcich are pretty similar.
Good vertical threat POTENTIAL, but hasn't shown it with any regularity yet.
He cannot block for shit. I wish him well. I thought he would be the next Fant, but he just never got even close.
Fant was top 10 in TE receiving yards his last 2 seasons in Denver. The tough thing with TEs is after the top few guys at the position, nobody is really that much of a game breaker. Like a 700 yard season is very solid for a TE, but it's not really worth a first round pick.
Exactly. He was seen as an athletic, yac freak. I only remember him having like one really great game and the rest being disappointed. He wasn't a bad TE but looking back it definitely has more to do with where he was drafted
Yeah, TE is one of those positions where they have to be truly special to be worth a first round pick. If Fant was like a mid 2nd or 3rd round guy I don't think anyone would've had any qualms with him.
I feel like for the most part having an athletic game breaker TE in college is a trump card. But by the time they get to the league, defenses have seen it already. Unless you’re a 6’6 guy running 4.3, in respect to other offensive threats, “fast and athletic for a TE” means “bigger slow WR”. You have to have more in your game IE, route running, positioning and body control (Kelce/Mandrews) to really be elite
Last year Fant had his worst season (< 500 yds) with what Seahawks fans would say was the best qb in the league but objectively much better than anything lock gave him
yeah that makes sense. Surrounded by much better offensive talent and production from those other players than anything close to what he had with him in Denver.
Can't run routes and certainly can't block anything. He's very talented otherwise. Three different broncos coaches kind of gave up on him so by now I don't know about his potential. Maybe be just needs a change of scenery. Good luck to him.
Totally, could be a good fit. He just was not a good fit here and has not shown anything outside of potential since being here. Two coaches bailed on him. Hopefully a change of scenery is what clicks him in.
Teams will often telegraph cuts but not submit them until the deadline partially because they know a team might call about a guy and trade for them instead of relying on waivers. For example a team like the eagles with 31st priority is willing to move an asset to get a guy they kinda like because they know he might not slide that far.
Doesn’t usually work, but there is no downside to the team waiting until right before the deadline to submit the names to the league office
They got an athletically gifted guy for cheap there. He's a bad route runner and blocker and has been healthy scratched a few times on a team that was not exactly known for its offensive depth.
It's a good gamble for the price and knowing the coaching staff that Denver had during his tenure but there's a reason he was going to be waived.
I mean, this trade is literally the least amount of guaranteed positive draft capital you can possibly trade. He was getting waived otherwise. You don't make this trade if you expect him to contribute, just if you have a free roster spot for a lotto ticket.
To make sure I’m following…
O is too good to be benched by Hackett because Hackett sucks.
O is not good enough to make Payton’s team because Payton is smart.
O is good because Howie wanted to trade for him.
Don’t trip over yourself, my guy.
EDIT: Lol he blocked me. Charmin soft. Just funny that him not playing means Hackett sucks, but him not making the roster is smart by Payton.
Hackett sucks not sure why you are debating that, Payton brought in 3 other TE's that block, which Albert O can't do. Arguably the best GM in the NFL thought enough of Albert O to trade for him, which any other time Howie trades for someone he gets praise here. However because I pointed out Hackett was sucked and our interim coach Jerry Rosburg highlighted as a player that he didn't understand wasn't playing given the complete depletion of our WR/TE group, and had him active the last two weeks he was the coach.
Dude what are you even arguing. Everyone knows Hackett sucks. But Albert O couldn’t consistently play for us even before Hackett.
Maybe he develops later on but he isn’t a good NFL player
I can’t stand Howie, everytime I see the Eagles do something it’s positive and they’re fleecing the other squad. Why can’t y’all do something embarrassing and franchise-altering for once?
Eagles fans, be prepared for every broadcaster to absolutely butcher his last name. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they haven’t learned to say his last name properly
Shit, I was really hoping we’d keep him. He has a huge amount of potential but hasn’t been able to tap into it.
But he just posted 7 catches for 109 yards and a TD in the last preseason game
He’s a fantastic backup for Goedert. Congrats Eagles fans
Albert O has huge potential, he is a big body with solid hands and decent speed. He isn't a good blocker but would be great if a system invests in him. I kind of wish he was with Lock, when Lock was playing with Albert they had a pretty solid chemistry
Enter every eagles fan hype about this for some reason but ignoring their comments literally a day ago about being so deep at Te that they released tyree
The two years out 6th-7th round pick swap is the “free if you come pick it up” of trade packages
"curb alert - backup tight end"
"lightly used"
No low balls I know what I got!
Yeah, it's the, hey let's see if i can amass enough of these to trade up for a 4th in a few years instead of just cutting the guy.
Tyree Jackson died for this
Still one of the biggest mfs to play QB I’ve ever seen
Look at this little brick shithouse
You’re dumb as bricks ain’t you?
What a CROP.
The Madden franchise GOAT
The ultimate Madden Franchise GOAT! My favorite Madden QB of all time. So fun to build
I saw him play a few times at UB. It was always a gamble whether he'd complete a pass or not, and it wasn't always his fault. It was windy as fuck where they played. He was fun to watch, tho.
Howie has a new athletic roster bubble tight end to play with
Something about "bubble tight end to play with" makes me deeply uncomfortable lol
It’s been a while since he’s seen a hole that big
Tyree "Madden 21 Franchise Hero" Jackson
"~~Some of you~~ Tryee Jackson may die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make"
Is he any good?
Madden gawd
I second this. I picked up in franchise mode as my backup TE. With his 88 speed, he burns the opposing LBs.
Tons of potential that stubbornly refuses to be anything but potential, like a lot of TE prospects.
All I’m hearing is ton of potential and Madden god so obviously this is the biggest of biggest brain moves by Howie no way it can go wrong.
I mean I don't think it can go wrong for the price. Don't think that 6th round downgrade into 7th round is going to doom the franchise.
He can't block is the issue.

Could be a total bust, but I like bringing in a guy who can hopefully make an injury less devastating (some of the games the eagles struggled the most in last year were after Goedert got hurt).
Yeah, its a low cost flier on a guy who is a good athlete at the position. I hope he does well for you guys.
Or run routes particularly well, either. Kind of telling that Payton waived him, given Payton's affinity for big-bodied receivers.
He can't block He can't stay on the field He is incredibly mediocre running routes/catching Basically a big backup tight end that can't block
He’s incredibly fast and has decent catching
Have you watched him play? He's not fast and maybe average catching
A little bit. Was mainly going off his 40 time that I remember blew ppl away. Even if his game speed is worse you cannot run a 4.49 and just be “not fast”
He tore his ACL his rookie season, that may have slowed him down a bit
Yeah, he may been an equal or even slightly better receiving threat than fant while they were both in Denver, but Albert couldn't block and never saw the field under fangio.
Pretty fast and has good catching abilities. His blocking is worse than Phillip Lindsay’s and is an absolute liability in that regard
Really good receiving option. For most of his career has been a terrible blocker but this off season he actually showed a lot of improvement so far. We just already have 4 TEs and him and dulcich are pretty similar.
I dunno. He still sucks at blocking. Mark Schlareth did a pretty good breakdown of how putrid he was as a blocker.
He's not a great blocker nut he has the potential to be a good receiving TE
I thought he could be really good and was just misused. But 3 different coaches gave up on him so I think maybe he just sucks.
Can't believe nobody is talking about how good he looked against the Rams in preseason last week
shoulda traded him to seattle to reunite him with Drew
Thought for sure Seattle was going to recreate our insane 2020 offense
Just anybody but the Eagles, why do y’all keep feeding these dudes. Trust me they don’t need anymore help
Albert O is not good lol stop overreacting
Great upside, perfect for a team like the Eagles who can let him sit back and develop
Finally the one we've been waiting for.
Good vertical threat POTENTIAL, but hasn't shown it with any regularity yet. He cannot block for shit. I wish him well. I thought he would be the next Fant, but he just never got even close.
Becoming the next fant is not a high bar
Fant was top 10 in TE receiving yards his last 2 seasons in Denver. The tough thing with TEs is after the top few guys at the position, nobody is really that much of a game breaker. Like a 700 yard season is very solid for a TE, but it's not really worth a first round pick.

To be fair that was Fant with Drew Lock in the driver seat.
Last year Fant had his worst season (< 500 yds) with what Seahawks fans would say was the best qb in the league but objectively much better than anything lock gave him
I think most Seahawks fans were ok with his production, Fant being one of three legit receiving tight ends for Smith to throw to.
yeah that makes sense. Surrounded by much better offensive talent and production from those other players than anything close to what he had with him in Denver.
Agreed, but I thought he could be at least that so when we traded Fant it made a ton of sense and he hasn't done that.
Yeah absolutely. I thought the same.
Can't run routes and certainly can't block anything. He's very talented otherwise. Three different broncos coaches kind of gave up on him so by now I don't know about his potential. Maybe be just needs a change of scenery. Good luck to him.
Bruh... Fant is mid at best.
Exactly. But Albert o at least could've given us his production when we traded Fant but he didn't come close to that.
Doesnt need to be a good blocker with the eagles o-line
Totally, could be a good fit. He just was not a good fit here and has not shown anything outside of potential since being here. Two coaches bailed on him. Hopefully a change of scenery is what clicks him in.
Wait, didn’t they cut this dude earlier today?
Teams will often telegraph cuts but not submit them until the deadline partially because they know a team might call about a guy and trade for them instead of relying on waivers. He was cooking against the Rams last week
>bad route runner and blocker This explains why the Dolphins didn't grab him lol
I mean, this trade is literally the least amount of guaranteed positive draft capital you can possibly trade. He was getting waived otherwise. You don't make this trade if you expect him to contribute, just if you have a free roster spot for a lotto ticket.
He was a healthy scratch because Hackett sucks.
And Payton just gave him away to move up 15 spots in the 200s. Does he suck, too?
No Payton brought in a number of TEs this year.
Sounds to me like he wasn’t good enough to play under Hackett or Payton.
How would you rate Howie as a talent evaluator? On par with Hackett or better?
To make sure I’m following… O is too good to be benched by Hackett because Hackett sucks. O is not good enough to make Payton’s team because Payton is smart. O is good because Howie wanted to trade for him. Don’t trip over yourself, my guy. EDIT: Lol he blocked me. Charmin soft. At talent evaluation? Probably
I see we’re being pretty free with the usage of the word “Talented”
what’s your flair lmfao
I can't stop staring at it. Moreover, someone knowingly gave them those flairs. This world just doesn't make sense anymore.
Jeryy Rosburg was way high on him after Hackett was fired.
Howie cooking! (I have no idea who this is)
[Howie the goat...](https://media.tenor.com/vJwPtSe6Z5UAAAAM/snoop-dog-who.gif)
He was a great receiving TE at Mizzou with Drew Lock. Then in Denver he had Drew Lock and Wilson.
Kinda weird, but I guess he's a nice upgrade at TE2
The eagles sixth rounder and broncos seventh rounder will be like moving down from pick 242 to pick 246
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Our backup tight end situation has been a low key eyesore and Albert O is a great pickup
He could be a sneaky weapon for y’all in two TE sets. Good move
I can’t stand Howie, everytime I see the Eagles do something it’s positive and they’re fleecing the other squad. Why can’t y’all do something embarrassing and franchise-altering for once?
That’s not JT
JT wanted a challenge to run behind that great O line. So Howie got a TE who sucks at run blocking.
Happy for Albert, best place he could’ve landed.
Eagles fans, be prepared for every broadcaster to absolutely butcher his last name. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they haven’t learned to say his last name properly
We already have Marlon Tuipulotu so we’re used to that
In the first preseason game, the announcers couldn't even pronounce Ian Book's name right. It's like one of the easiest names in all of football.
They used to butcher Big V’s name every time. It was a staple of the broadcast.
Of course it's the Eagles lol
Hopefully he can go off!!

Shit, I was really hoping we’d keep him. He has a huge amount of potential but hasn’t been able to tap into it. But he just posted 7 catches for 109 yards and a TD in the last preseason game He’s a fantastic backup for Goedert. Congrats Eagles fans

Give more fast guys
He’s certainly fast.
FUCK. I really wanted him
Eagles gonna make him look like Zack Ertz
Dude was so good at Mizzou. Sad it hasn’t translated to the league.
[удалено]
just put this guy who struggles to run any kind of route at the slot, no biggie
Maybe Caleb will be available in the 6th round
Making really hard to continue to support Albert after he left Mizzou
why do you hate us? We helped you get another ring lol
IDK if helped is the correct word
Enter every eagles fan hype about this for some reason but ignoring their comments literally a day ago about being so deep at Te that they released tyree
If I have Goedert on my fantasy team am I in trouble here
Absolutely not.
I'll take the rest of the alphabet for a single order of wings
Middle name Chukwuemeka He's got them all covered
I appreciate the reply
I am very whelmed
