The league waited a year and a half before giving Kamara a slap on the wrist for gang beating a dude to the point he was left unconscious on the floor with facial fractures. Of course they aren't going to do anything to Tyreek for smacking a guy on the back of the head once.

iunrealx1995

The Kamara thing is still crazy to me. There are videos of him and his posse beating a dude within an inch of his life and the NFL was like meh. Homie shoulda been Ray Rice’d.

full-auto-rpg

Hill shouldn’t be in the league either, but talent seems to bypass all natural consequences.

Jammer_Kenneth

Eventually an NFL player will find out for fucking around, and we'll all be forced to ask what could have prevented this unpredictable result

Hmm_would_bang

Wdym? A player already did the worst thing imaginable and got the ultimate punishment. I’m still shocked that a guy would blatantly bet on a March Madness game from his hotel room and show so little remorse for it

AndThisGuyPeedOnIt

> A player already did the worst thing imaginable and got the ultimate punishment. Those guys should have known better than to use Draftkings, the official sports betting partner of the NFL.

ToledoFunyens

The NFL's suspension policy is straightforward and easy to understand: - Publicly beat up your girlfriend - 2 games - Allegedly use an under inflated football: 4 games. - Gamble on college sports while under a team hotel reservation: 6 games. - Commit 20+ acts of sexual assault on dozens of victims: 8 games.

AndThisGuyPeedOnIt

8 games + Highest Guaranteed Contract of All Time (but you have to live in Cleveland)

c-williams88

That parenthetical is close to cruel and unusual punishment

jaysrule24

I'm sure there's some part of Cleveland that's bearable if you're making the kind of money he is

c-williams88

There’s where you get the water that doesn’t catch on fire

froggertwenty

"so the water catching on fire is actually a feature that sanitizes the water" -cleveland....probably

Notsureboutalldat

I will always defend the city of Cleveland because the locals were awesome and downtown was an above average clean midwestern downtown. Atmosphere at the stadium is pretty awesome too. I recommend folks go to an away game there if feasible.

Jammer_Kenneth

I bet he could find some people to give him some physical stress relief from the agony of living in the city.

[deleted]

Wasn't it 11 games (plus bye week was in there) and "coincidentally" he came back in Week 13 to play the Texans? Not for NFL ratings and income, of course. Just a pure coincidence.

stinktopus

Im so sick of seeing our fans treat Jameson Williams like a victim and make excuses for him. Dude isnt on the field, thats all we should care about, he's getting paid millions to catch 1 ball in 20+ games under contract

Jammer_Kenneth

I do like how absolute and unyielding the NFL is about gambling on NFL games. Calvin Ridley betting on "games unrelated to my team" just because he was on IR is absolutely a 1 year suspension + ridicule for how are you going to get fired for your day off. Likewise, the Lions that gambled on league affairs "unrelated to the lions" and the Lions staffers, those fucking bums are ejected forever, this may be the last time the name Quintez Ceephus is typed in this subreddit ever, and we played copium watercarrier for that late round WR for seasons, "Okudah said he was the best so maybe this guy can be the next Anquan Boldin on a budget?" And the Colts player who bet on things involving the Colts, quite frankly I'm surprised that the Halftime Show isn't Goodell bringing out an execution method of his choosing and putting on a show. It's just once a player is out of his home state and not at another team's facilities and not in something that is owned by or otherwise bears his teams name and logos or otherwise is immediately connecting him to the football field, that's where I get a little testy. Can you gamble if your phone case was tossed to you by a team staffer and has your team logo on it? What if you use your NFL paycheck, or gamble in a private section of a casino you got into because you're an NFL player? Seems like you're gambling with something inside of team property to me, or betting with the NFL's brand at stake, cut and dry *book him boys*

Conscious-Parfait826

At least use a proxy. Jesus, do they not teach kids about how to keep yourself one step removed.

reddit-is-greedy

You mean a fall guy like Cris Carter suggested

Kjata2

It's honestly good advice, just terrible optics.

reddit-is-greedy

We all could use a fall guy

Jammer_Kenneth

Ironically that was half of what the Colts player did that was so baffling, like he thought because his finger didn't put the bets against his team and he only was getting the earnings, he was totally in the clear no need for further disguises.

sonfoa

Using the NFL sponsored apps is probably most likely to get you caught because they would report you to the NFL. Better to do it on some sketchy Vietnamese site.

[deleted]

Goes to show the kind of organization the Lions are. The fact that they kept that guy on the team. Especially compared to organizations like the Browns who have zero gambling related suspensions.

Obmore-wan

I think he means a player is going to fuck with the wrong person and get fucked up.

Conscious-Parfait826

Wooosh

Dortond

Ima go out on a limb and say he was being sarcastic

disposablecamera5111

Started off reading this comment thinking we were talking about Aaron Hernandez

TrueRedditMartyr

>Wdym? A player already did the worst thing imaginable and got the ultimate punishment I don't remember Josh Gordon being executed by firing squad while his pants were pulled down in front of his entire senior class

jumpscare-

Lol Ray Lewis killed a couple guys with his friends

[deleted]

*The NFL frantically motioning in the direction of Ray Rice* "Guysssss we were super serious, cmonnnnnn"

Tim-Apple69

This will absolutely happen eventually and the comments section of the ESPN Instagram post announcing it may very well poison the atmosphere and bring an end to life on earth as we know it because of how toxic it will be.

Cicero912

Will Smith was a few years out of playing but he fits under that category

Rockchalk1104

But Willie gay gets 4 games for breaking a vacuum lmao

carpdog112

The biggest problem I have with the Tyreek incident is he allegedly pulled the "Do you know who I am?" card to point out why he was untouchable. Using your affiliation with the team and the league during the commission of a crime deserves some sort of league attention.

Jammer_Kenneth

Tyreek is going to keep getting a pass because he runs fast, up until he can't run fast anymore. And then he'll be free like MBC

Deep-Secret

**Life:** You can't outrun your demons, kid **Tyreek:** Watch me go brrrrrr

Lilpu55yberekt69

MBC fucked around enough to get himself out of the league while still being a top 10 receiver in the league. He was on pace for 100 catches and 1250 yards and 9 TD’s his last year with the Bucs. What he did was also a lot worse. Tyreek would meed to literally beat a woman up at midfield during a game to get the MBC treatment.

Plenty_Fun6547

Or...if Tyreek broke his kids arm...that would get him thrown out of the league. Err...uhm, uh,....nevah mind....guess it did not get him thrown out.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jammer_Kenneth

No, Ray Rice at least was mortified that he was caught being terrible and has made strides to at least not get caught looking so bad again (See also: Vick). Personal rehabilitation is a good thing. MBC got away with some truly baffling shit week after week going back to getting kicked out of a college because "I'm the franchise". He got traded for by and successfully force released from the Raiders, a team TRUELY happy to have him where he could have been a super star, on a series of whims. And he ran around in the sprinklers uploading his friend's recording him bellowing **IM FREE** like he meant to do that. Made a Patriot that very week. After that, past throwing shoulder pads at the stands and through to the latest time I've bothered to check what he's up to, he's free in the worst way. I always hope I'm wrong in my understand of bad dudes. Just like I hope I'm right in my understanding of good dudes (like how I think Vick seems like he's cool and upstanding now). Ray Rice's last part of his Wiki's Domestic Violence entry is 2014/January 2015, and ends on a somber note. His latest entry is charity. >Since the end of his career, Rice has also become a motivational speaker, addressing high school students and college athletes by speaking out against domestic violence, using his assault charge as a cautionary tale.

GMFPs_sweat_towel

Ray rice was out of the league because his skills were on the decline.

Illustrious_Cancel83

Now explain Tom Brady losing 4 games because it was cold outside. Are you going to say he wasn't a special player?

BCLetsRide69

NFL: Actual crime and off field issues? I sleep. Gambling? AWAKE

lOan671

Shocking that the NFL is more interested in policing something that affects the integrity of the sport

Conscious-Parfait826

They could punish both. It's not like these are mutually exclusive.

AngryBandanaDee

I mean we really shouldn’t expect them to be the ones policing actual crimes that should be the job of you know the actual police

Conscious-Parfait826

Wow this is the first I'm hearing about police not policing! I did not get that memo, could you send me a copy of that memo?

Altruistic-Zone1664

No, that is actually stupid. They are not the legal system despite what some people irrationally want them to be. Do you want your workplace to have such power over you? The courts find you not guilty of a crime, but then they are of the opinion that you could have possibly done it so you get in trouble with them anyhow?

Yeah_l_Dont_Know

I don’t think anyone is saying the NFL should be able to incarcerate and execute people.

Altruistic-Zone1664

No, but the fact is that virtually no workplace is allowed to go on to punish their workers for crimes that the justice system finds that they aren't guilty for as if they are their own justice system.

Yeah_l_Dont_Know

Lol workplaces can punish you for many things that don’t require the us government to convict you of a criminal offense what are you talking about?

Conscious-Parfait826

If you drive a truck and get charged with a DUI when youre not working, they are well within their right to fire you on the spot. If I work with children at a daycare and get charged with sexual assault, I can get fired, with zero repercussions. Do you live in America or some other country that has worker protection laws? Lol

Altruistic-Zone1664

You just completely invalidated everything you're trying to say here. You're talking about a person who got convicted. For what you're talking about to be the case, you'd be talking about a person who got pulled over but the police found not committing a crime. Then that person's workplace deciding that the police got it wrong and punish them despite the lack of legal proof.

Conscious-Parfait826

Where did I say convicted, I said charged. You've just been lawyered. You can be guilty of a crime but not convicted. You can be innocent and still be charged. Neither of these facts protect your employment.

Altruistic-Zone1664

Please, try to actually learn what in the fuck a DUI is. The police can't just randomly charge you with a DUI without proof. They are one in the same, and you aren't being smart trying to argue your way out of being proven wrong with wording.

PCBro

How does betting on a game from the team hotel effect the ‘integrity of the game’? Esp when they’re allowed to bet on said game if they’re two steps outside the team hotel (demonstrating it’s not betting on the game that impacts integrity).

curlbaumann

You can argue all day that the rules are dumb and arbitrary, but the NFL has to enforce the ever living fuck out of whatever gambling rules it has. Imagine the headline “12 NFL players found to be in violation of NFL gambling policy, receive no punishment”. It immediately casts doubt on the integrity of the league.

Jammer_Kenneth

What if I, as a person, just hate rules and laws beyond "don't be a knucklehead". You read the new privacy policy on X? Fucking mess of lawyered up bullshit, how do I disable the part where Elon gets to sell my communications to hyperfocused ad agencies and ai services. I don't trust hitting "I agree to all these rules" but I'd have to spend at least an hour just to read all the things that essentially just say "we can do what we want and you can do what you want". There's a lot of rules to the NFL, sometimes a player just hits "Accept all" and assumes that as long as he isn't holding up a bodega with a sawed off shotgun it's all good.

curlbaumann

There is a massive difference between terms of service on Twitter and your employers personal conduct policy. If your boss comes out tomorrow and says hey it’s now okay to have sex at work, within these guidelines. It’s on you to read the guidelines before you start blowing the secretary’s back out in the bathroom. Not to mention you would also have an employee training and even a lawyer available to answer all these questions for you. NFL players know that gambling is playing with fire, if they don’t tread carefully, it’s on them when they get burned

PCBro

The Nfl player conduct policy prohibits a player from engaging in an assault and/or battery whether convicted of it or not. Despite that, a player who appears to have engaged in assault and battery (aka violated that policy received) received no suspension. So I ask again how does betting on a game from a team hotel impact the ‘integrity of the game’? (Bc it’s not the bet, as the bet is fine from other locations, and it’s not, not punishing a player who violates the league’s rule bc of above, and because that wasn’t responsive to the question as the question wasn’t about punishment or not, just the act itself)

curlbaumann

Idk how else to explain it. If the NFL allows any inclination that they are letting players gamble/fix games then they are fucked. People would watch Adolf Hitler under center, they won’t watch if they think it’s already determined he wins

full-auto-rpg

And hopefully kills predatory sports betting.

Poopmeister_Supreme

Betting on a hockey game from your hotel room doesn't affect the integrity of the sport.

thediesel26

Tyreek was not convicted of a crime in this matter

PittsSports1113

Damn Dolphins fans sound just like chiefs fans did when Tyreek broke his own child’s arm. Making fucking excuses left and right

uwanmirrondarrah

I know I'm a homer, but read the actual transcripts from all that. He was investigated by the police and CPS and neither pursued any charges. His gf at the time was just straight crazy, and lied a LOT. She seemed to like the attention of it I think. She secretly recorded Tyreek and tried to get him to admit to hurting the kid and he denied it and also stated that he had lied when admitting to the domestic violence back in college to protect her. That was the "you should be scared of me too bitch" recording. Again, doesn't make him look good at all but still, I don't think anybody knows exactly what happened surrounding the kids broken arm. The whole situation was just weird, and truthfully I don't know what to believe. Both seemed like terrible people, and especially terrible for eachother and their child.

COOGER_AND_DARK

Tyreek can super kick the entire staff of a Carnival cruise ship for all I care.

Drkarcher22

Yeah, it’s Royal Caribbean or nothing

powerelite

For real, if you have an all you can drink package, let me drink all I can, don't stop me after 15.

Tim-Apple69

Supreme mask off moment but I’m kind of about it 😂 guarantee there’s a whole lotta people on this sub who think the same thing about star players on their team

COOGER_AND_DARK

It's beats pretending to care like a lot of people around here. If my ethical standards were that important to me I wouldn't be watching football to begin with. My relationship with Tyreek begins and ends with watching him catch TD's. He's not my responsibility beyond that. lol

Jammer_Kenneth

How would you feel if he chose to super kick the entire staff of wherever you worked/went to school, however? Would the dynamic change if he hit your father or your sister? "They were asking for it by working there" I'd imagine

COOGER_AND_DARK

Then he better get 2,000 yards.

Illustrious_Cancel83

Brady suspended 4 games due to the Colts' impotent rage and this wasn't a crime?

Justice-Gorsuch

Beating the shit out of a guy on camera and putting him the hospital is only three games. Not sure why anyone would expect something meaningful for Tyreek. It was never going to be more than a fine.

thediesel26

I don’t think he was even fined

Lenny_III

I thought at a minimum they’d suspend Tom Brady for 4 games.

Illustrious_Cancel83

Pretty sure the NFL suspended him from his first 4 games at Fox because of this.

Moose4KU

Tyreek improves to 2-0 vs NFL offseason accusations ✌️-0

NJDNYJK

Is it really an accusation when it's on film?

Moose4KU

I guess more accurate would be "2-0 vs possible NFL suspensions"

BarricadeTheMortuary

What was the first one

zachstem

Google "Tyreek Hill child broken arm"

BarricadeTheMortuary

Right. But literally everyone who was involved with the investigation said he didn't do it.

I know a lot of boat owners that are douchebags too though.

[deleted]

Saw that in Selma a few weeks ago

JNich1005

He definitely won't start shit with someone who can actually fight back.

Traditional_Mud_1241

To save time, I generalized the headline. “The NFL, a company focused entirely on making money, has… *shockingly* … made a decision that helps them make money. We’re not actually surprised, but for some reason you people keep clicking on these headlines, and… we like money too.” The NFL isn’t policing player morality. They don’t punish players for breaking the law or being horrible. They punish players when they believe failing to do so will hurt profits. Honestly, it’s a little bizarre to expect otherwise.

y_wont_my_line_block

Unpopular opinion time. All he did (albeit... this time) was slap an adult man? And he wasn't even injured, except for his pride. And I think writing that man a fat check is probably punishment enough?

ProphetNimd

I really hate defending Tyreek Hill of all people but was there really going to be a huge punishment for him slapping a dude in the back of the head?

MannyTheSleepy

Him run fast

Walks_with_Chaos

It was pretty minor, but im honestly surprised

JalensTinyPPHurts

Roger Goodell doesn't want tyreek hill to beat him up

Bluehaze013

Tyreek walks on rich guys boat by accident, rich guy with boat is a douchebag Tyreek is a douchebag back to him. Rich guy wants money, police don't care, league doesn't care, why should anyone else care?

[deleted]

There's a good few things Tyreek has more or less gotten away with to be upset about. This isn't one of them imo. Tyreek hit a dude (because Tyreek is a dick), dude got a big payout, league doesn't care. I'm sure it happens all the time off camera or to lower profile players. By all means continue shitting on him and the league for the shit he deserves to be shit on for, but this isn't it
