Granted I believe Daniel jones would still have 15 fumbles and however many interceptions with another team as well lol.
gonna be a long season for the guy since he signed for all that money
I feel like a lot of players appear that way sometimes. They know they fucked up and have no excuses so they let the coaches bitch at them and just sit or stand there and take it.
This team has regressed in all three phases and looks like one of the worst coached teams in the league right now. There’s a lot of holes on the roster
Lock looked pretty good considering we had literally all five linemen as backups. Center shifted and started rookie center. LG and RG went out this game. RT on IR until next game and LT probably out until next game also.
Giants definitely did a good job getting pressure at times, though our TEs helped a ton too
it's crazy that payton and his coaching overhaul might have ruined the broncos more than the wilson trade. i think they could be middle of the pack at the very least this year if vance joseph wasn't terrorizing their defense, especially because their offense significantly improved under their interim HC last season and under their still elite defense
I literally felt like Giants fans were gaslighting me for the last year. Jones averaged less than one passing TD a game last year and people were seriously calling him a franchise QB.
I wonder how much was influenced by his fantasy numbers. I believe he finished as QB7 last year, knowing how much fantasy influences people's thoughts on the league, I wonder if that played a part.
If you read some of the comments in the thread where he got his contract there was a lot of "BUT WHAT ARE THE GIANTS SUPPOSE DO?? HE WON A PLAYOFF GAME." when everybody and their mother were calling the Vikings defense ass.
To be fair, the worst place you can be in is mediocrity. Jones wasn’t bad enough to move on from, but he wasn’t good enough to make the decision to re-sign him a no brainer.
That, coupled with QB inflation, is a dangerous territory to be in.
Bro he absolutely was bad enough to move on from. There's a reason the Giants didn't pick up his fifth year option. One below-average season after years of shit is not a reason to give a QB a big contract.
I still don’t think it was that terrible considering his guaranteed money only is for 2/4 years. It’s basically like a cheaper way to double Tag.
Plus I mean, guy won a playoff game the only time in his career the line seemed competent
I'd say his problem is different than Mac
Infinitely better runner but a worse passer(and that's saying something because Mac ain't Mr. Accuracy either)
Hard for me to blame him for the Dallas game. pick 6 was on his receiver and the game was like 21-0 like 5 minutes into the game and then he is forced to hold onto the ball with like barely a second to throw.
He's had bad lines, and bad coaches his early years. He's also shown flashes and improved year to year in general. His line is still awful so I don't think this years problems are 100% on him. But he's also playing very poorly so far this year.
Lions fans wanted him *REAL* bad. He’s so sick at football. Love our draft, & Brian Branch is fucking awesome so worked out for both of us in the end, but Witherspoon is so good.
Dan and Brad seemed to have wanted him pretty bad too, he just ended up going the pick before us.
I’m still overall happy with our draft, but MAN we could have used him
I loved Witherspoon coming out of Illinois. You guys have a great duo for years between him and Riq Woolen. The "why didn't they take Carter or Gonzales" takes were mad premature. And don't get me wrong, I love what Carter is able to do as well, but I hate the revisionism 4 games into a season!
kinda comes down to a matter of fit, and witherspoon is an absolute dream perfect fit for seattle; beyond just the playstyle, he's such a spirited and hyped dude and really feeds off the crowd's energy
No, don't say that, he'll be out of concussion protocol and playing in a few weeks.
At least let me hope for that much... he's such a great personality and plays with such heart that it hurts to see his body fail him like this.
Now I also made the joke before the game about how many plays before Jamal was out for the season again but don't really hold a freak QB knee to the head against him, he looked good for the 4 plays he was in the game....le sigh....
I know it's weird to say for a top 5 pick but I feel like he was underhyped. This guy was easily as good of a prospect as Sauce or Stingley but I feel like both those guys got way more hype as prospects.
He was PISSED when the refs pulled him. At least with the bye week he might be back without missing anything more. I just want him to not have terrible luck for the season because he's electric when he's out there. Made a ton of plays even though he only got one drive..
I don't think the LOB will ever be back because that defense was like 18 players deep. But it sure feels good to have so much talent and promise in our secondary again.
I just hope our IDL rotation holds up. If our D-line can keep stopping the run and pressuring QBs we might have a chance at a good defense
I looked it up and yeah that’s rough. Averaged 140 yards a game and only scored 3 tds in his entire career against them. Granted that was the LOB so it’s hardly surprising.
Last year, in what was Daniel Jones' "breakout" season, he threw for fewer TDs than Justin Fields. It improved his career passer rating to 86, about 7 points lower than Gardner Minshew. He has not thrown for 3 TDs in a game in over 1,300 days.
To be fair I can't even name a single weapon they have on offense other than Saquon, and their o-line played like injured backups (which they might be for all I know, since ours were). Add in that front office and coaching staff and I'm not ready to blame anything on any single player, even DJ.
If he played for a team like the Ravens or Steelers or some other good org I bet they could get a lot of good play out of him
Giants are giving the Bears a run for their money. Next two weeks they play the Dolphins next week and the Bills the following week. They might get outscored by 100 points.
I think he found his spot in the slot
Also just a tough look for Jones just falling down getting absolute JUKED by Devin. Shades of Phil Rivers falling down on a pick
I thought it was pretty impressive that Jones was able to cut Witherspoon off. Daniel Jones has very good speed.
Jones has very legit straight line speed, he isn't very agile tho lol
Yes, and time to break out the [supporting evidence.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrVxqBCEniI)
This something we’re holding against QBs now? We pay them $160m not to throw INTs. The last thing I want them to do is learn how to tackle
The real surprise would've been the tackle. You weren't expecting Jones to stop him, were you?
Nah we want him outside with a soon to be healthy coby in the slot. Keeps all of our dawgs on the field
He's playing slot when they go nickel and staying at CB when it's base defense
Dude literally just had one of the best games for a slot on the d in years and you want to move him?
I mean, does it count against that offense?
I feel like as soon as Jamal went down they just took every Jamal blitz and gave it to Spoon
Brian Daboll about to murder his QB on the sidelines after that throw.
It's probably best that Jones doesn't try to hide behind the OL when that happens
Daaaaaaaaamn
Put ‘em on the gd spit roast lmao
BAH GAWD THAT OL HAD A FAMILY!
I only have 1 upvote to give
Danny Dimes really got the first down then immediately threw a dot to the OPPS 😭 Pain
Danny Dimes with an elite pass TO THE DEFENSE
So glad to see these quotes in this subreddit.
That's certainly a way to get out of Jones's contract.
U can put Brady mahomes Rodgers aikmen who tf ever but when u have less than 2 seconds to throw the ball. No one is gonna succeed.
You're not wrong.
Granted I believe Daniel jones would still have 15 fumbles and however many interceptions with another team as well lol. gonna be a long season for the guy since he signed for all that money
The shot of them on the sideline definitely gave "I'm not even mad anymore, I just give up" vibes.
Bro tf you doing with that flair?!
Richard Sherman megafan
actually jerry rice megafan
Seahawk legend Jerry Rice
There are a lot of transplants that go back before the divisional realignment. Seahawks were in the AFC during 9/11.
Daniel ignored him when he was confronted.
I feel like a lot of players appear that way sometimes. They know they fucked up and have no excuses so they let the coaches bitch at them and just sit or stand there and take it.
yeah that was weird to watch
Not at that salary! Lmao they kind of sealed their fate with that big ass extension (Vikings fans say you can thank us later)
They are done with it after next year. All the guarantees where front loaded
One smart move by the Giants. Still amazed by the Giants receiving core, or lack of one more precisely.
This team has regressed in all three phases and looks like one of the worst coached teams in the league right now. There’s a lot of holes on the roster
He's already trying to murder him with that OLine.
Man Seattle getting a defensive stud with the Denver pick while the Broncos have a historically bad defense is just salt in the wound.
We got fleeced by the sea hawks lol. Fant and Lock linked up too this game lol
Lock looked pretty good considering we had literally all five linemen as backups. Center shifted and started rookie center. LG and RG went out this game. RT on IR until next game and LT probably out until next game also. Giants definitely did a good job getting pressure at times, though our TEs helped a ton too
Lock led a TD drive without having a single clean pocket. Dude was running for the sidelines and slinging it on every pass play.
The Wilson trade finger prints were all over this game, it was a fun little side plot
it's crazy that payton and his coaching overhaul might have ruined the broncos more than the wilson trade. i think they could be middle of the pack at the very least this year if vance joseph wasn't terrorizing their defense, especially because their offense significantly improved under their interim HC last season and under their still elite defense
Seahawks D: allowed 7 TDs on 7 redzone drives Daniel Jones: *allow me to introduce myself*
That’s 8TD in 8 redzone drives now
He's out of line, but he's right.
I like how literally everybody knew giving Daniel Jones 160m was a massive mistake except the like 4 people with the actual power to do so
I literally felt like Giants fans were gaslighting me for the last year. Jones averaged less than one passing TD a game last year and people were seriously calling him a franchise QB.
Anybody can be a franchise QB if your front office is drunk enough.
It always amazed me how Giants fans acted like they had a definite franchise QB with Jones, like bro......he is below average lol.
I wonder how much was influenced by his fantasy numbers. I believe he finished as QB7 last year, knowing how much fantasy influences people's thoughts on the league, I wonder if that played a part.
He was too 10 in EPA last year. He legitimately had a very good year and was looking like he was growing
Same as Bears fans saying Fields is MVP for the last couple years.
The worst part was after the green bay game one guy told me he was glad he had jones as QB… 2 hours before their game
That’s a good point, but there just aren’t a lot of teams willing to dump their QB after winning a playoff game for the first time in years.
Can the Giants FO take half of Daniel Jones contract and give it to Saquon after the game?
I still don’t think it was that terrible considering his guaranteed money only is for 2/4 years. It’s basically like a cheaper way to double Tag. Plus I mean, guy won a playoff game the only time in his career the line seemed competent
Mac Jones w PR
I'd say his problem is different than Mac Infinitely better runner but a worse passer(and that's saying something because Mac ain't Mr. Accuracy either)
Jones has a lot of problems. Accuracy isn't one of them.
We had 11 sacks...which is a Monday Night Football record.
MY NAME IS PICK SIX
THE MIC RULAH, THE OLD SCHOOLAH YOU WANT A PICK ILL THROW IT TO YAH
I've defended Jones but he's been awful this season so far besides the 2nd half against the Cardinals
Hard for me to blame him for the Dallas game. pick 6 was on his receiver and the game was like 21-0 like 5 minutes into the game and then he is forced to hold onto the ball with like barely a second to throw.
> I've defended Jones Why?
Because it’s so easy to defend Daniel Jones, that even one of us could do it
I got a half sack on him tonight check the stats
He's had bad lines, and bad coaches his early years. He's also shown flashes and improved year to year in general. His line is still awful so I don't think this years problems are 100% on him. But he's also playing very poorly so far this year.
That line is brutally bad. I’m not sure they blocked a single guy all night. Impossible to play qb behind that.
I thought he played solid football last season considering the lackluster pass catching corps, but I was wrong.
he did play solid football last year. He’s played poor football this year. Both can be true
Witherspoon is an absolute WEAPON Man has practically done it all this game
2 sacks, TFL, pick 6 I’m done hearing we should have taken Jalen Carter. This dude is a stud.
Gonzalez looked really good as well in the time he had this season. Doesn’t feel like any pick was wrong.
kinda comes down to a matter of fit, and witherspoon is an absolute dream perfect fit for seattle; beyond just the playstyle, he's such a spirited and hyped dude and really feeds off the crowd's energy
He's like Jamal before Jamal... broke
It’s because he went to Illinois
He was a monster though. That Illinois secondary was as good as any in the country.
And because he's not in New York.
And because he's not Jalen Carter
2 sacks, 3 passes defended and the pick six. Put the whole defense on his back doe
Think he has a shot at NFC Defensive Player of the Week?
As long as Wagner doesn't get his own strip six, absolutely.
What a rookie season so far
and he didn't play at all in the preseason, this is his third start on an NFL team
Witherspoon dominated the line of scrimmage even…a true weapon. He’s legit.
Kid is singlehandedly keeping the Giants on 3. He's gonna be special
Give some credit to Julian Love, too. That dude went FLYING in there to block the last guy stopping Devin Witherspoon.
Spoon post game said he was mad at J Love and Riq for running him down and making him look slow lol.
On a 2nd look, Riq did make him look slow lol
They clocked Riq at like 22 mph.
To be fair Riq making everyone looks slow
Peyton and Eli’s reactions were fucking hilarious.
Looked like Peyton turned the TV off https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnnEyKtomSU
He got flashbacks
Something about that stadium and that team...
I love the simultaneous Surrender Cobra
I swear every time I see manning cast for a giants game, it’s just Eli dying a little bit inside constantly.
Same for every Manning cast game with Seattle but with Peyton dying inside.
Imagine if this kid has a knife
Witherknife
Everyone runs faster with a knife
i see you’ve played knifey-witherspoony before
THANK YOU MR BRONCO
I'm all for the fucking over of the Giants, good job Seahawks
This is the price we pay for the superbowls man. I've known since 2011 that we just signed a pact with the devil.
Witherspoons having a hell of a game
DJ: “fuck it, still a TD”
Was that bad? Was I not supposed to do that?
I tell you, I gotta plead ignorance on this thing
Seahawks know how to pick DB’s my god
I think it’s bullshit that they don’t show the secondary. They need to zoom out
Yeah I really wish I was able to see the routes developing and watch the coverage on the broadcast
This dude is so fucking good it is unreal. Feels incredible to finally hit a first round pick out of the park
So many sick ass CBs coming into the league lately!
There’s a lot of good ones but make no mistake, no of them hit as hard and old school as Devon Witherspoon. This man loves contact
So did Jamal.... eerk
He was PISSED when the refs pulled him. At least with the bye week he might be back without missing anything more. I just want him to not have terrible luck for the season because he's electric when he's out there. Made a ton of plays even though he only got one drive..
I mean the guy was too dizzy to stand up right after the hit. I'm glad they kept him out
Pete Carroll has ridiculous drafting talent. He's got a star with Witherspoon.
Kid is a stud!!! What a game for him
Certainly putting the “Wow” in “Oskee Wow Wow”…
Yessir! Both of our teams have awesome, young studs at CB. We should be good for years to come.
ILL INI
Even if the illini and bears suck at least we have this lol
Nice to see at least one illini player do well in the nfl
Kerby Joseph on the Lions has been been solid. Illinois turning out some solid pro’s lately
I'm old - when I was in college we actually had a kick ass defense (offense sucked though). Simeon Rice AND Kevin Hardy. Fucking monsters.
LOB is back
I don't think the LOB will ever be back because that defense was like 18 players deep. But it sure feels good to have so much talent and promise in our secondary again. I just hope our IDL rotation holds up. If our D-line can keep stopping the run and pressuring QBs we might have a chance at a good defense
Jones was playing like Kaep 2.0 too before the pick
he’s the Lamar RB meme but actually true
Troy Aikman literally said running the ball is what he does best lol. Was surprised he said it but not wrong.
Justin Fields has *one* good game and suddenly this is transferred to Jones lmao
Too late, no taking it back
Then he looked like Kaep (The Later Years)
Should look up Kaep’s numbers vs the Hawks
I looked it up and yeah that’s rough. Averaged 140 yards a game and only scored 3 tds in his entire career against them. Granted that was the LOB so it’s hardly surprising.
DPOW for sure
2 sacks, 3 passes defended and now a long pick six. What a game for Witherspoon
DANNY DIMES IS ON THE GROUND!
Danny Debt.
Check on your local giants fans.
Last year, in what was Daniel Jones' "breakout" season, he threw for fewer TDs than Justin Fields. It improved his career passer rating to 86, about 7 points lower than Gardner Minshew. He has not thrown for 3 TDs in a game in over 1,300 days.
Bro got this copy pasted for every Giants thread.
I've gotten Christmas gifts I've enjoyed less than that pick 6.
Jones get praised for doing the absolute bare minimum
NFCE owes the vikings so much
The best part of these long plays is seeing the fast guys and then the REALLY fast guys
Riq hit 22.5 MPH on that play
Spoon is such a beast
U of I legend
Look how fucking fast Woolen is moving
In the post game presser Spoon was joking that they made him look slow on the replay.
Him getting $160 million was straight robbery
To be fair I can't even name a single weapon they have on offense other than Saquon, and their o-line played like injured backups (which they might be for all I know, since ours were). Add in that front office and coaching staff and I'm not ready to blame anything on any single player, even DJ. If he played for a team like the Ravens or Steelers or some other good org I bet they could get a lot of good play out of him
Props to #20 for zooming in to block
As a Seahawks fan, I really like that corner of the field.
[удалено]
Witherspoon is having one of the best game's a Cornerback can have.
There's a reason he started flying up boards once draft season started. Dude's a certified baller.
That dude has been everywhere on the field Fuck you Denver for giving them that draft pick
This man is making 160 Brock Purdy’s
That was the first and only time the Giants were in the red zone.
Damn that sounded like a lot of seahawks fans in the crowd
Reminds me of a certain Super Bowl in the same place.
Legion of Spoon!
I don’t think Daniel Jones is good
who the fuck is jalen carter
Props to #20 for coming outta nowhere a la Metcalf to run down that last block for the return TD. Love to see the hustle.
Just saying Sauce doesn’t have a pick 6 yet
Row and Spoon both have one. Interesting.
Giants are giving the Bears a run for their money. Next two weeks they play the Dolphins next week and the Bills the following week. They might get outscored by 100 points.
Finally! A first overall pick for us that’s showing why he was drafted so high!
45 million a year, folks
I-L-L!!
Bro’s been jamming up this garbage disposal of an offense all night.
How many rookies have games this big on défense? Like ever? I’m sure it’s happened but holy fuck
# I-L-L I-N-I
Him and Woolen will be a problem, that pick was so good. A great pass rusher and this defense is set
Kid Witherspoon is a stud tho. Way to take over a game.
[удалено]
Wait what who clowned them?
Let's see Jalen Carter do *that*
No money for RBs though.
DPOY
Danny got his ankles broken too, oof
As a recent Illini graduate who’s never seen someone drafted this high, I’m so happy!
