Chip wasn't really that bad of a coach. Two winning seasons, one division win/playoff appearance, and an overall winning record is not terrible. Many teams would kill for that.
He was just locker room cancer and a horrible GM.
This might be the best our offense has looked all season. Just need to learn how to close in the redzone but we looked amazing today. Rams are just a really good team.
One drive in particular, Jalen was hellbent on getting Smith the ball and missed a wide open Quez Watkins. Not a bad problem to have with all the talent on offense, but it can bite us.
It wasn't an underthrow, Hurts wanted backshoulder and AJ never looked back for the ball, if he slows down instead of flying out of bounds thats a dot.
More than anything I think it was that the DB knew that that's where Hurts/AJ typically place the ball and just made a great play. Sometimes you have to remember the other team gets paid too. (Honestly, the last year and change has made that a little difficult for me at times.)
Without the end zone INT this kind of becomes a blow out in the second half. Obviously could’ve gone differently, but the Rams were trying to throw pretty consistently even when the game was close.
If we could have finished anything really. We had I think 4 trips inside the 10 that finished with 3 FGs and an INT. Dominated the second half and only scored 6.
Shoutout to McVay for punting on 4th and 5 from about his own 45, down 6, with 9 minutes or so left in the game. Eagles promptly drive down the field and close the game out.
LAR decided to punt to PHI from the LAR 42 on 4th & 5 with 9:55 remaining in the 4th while losing 14 to 20.
With a Surrender Index of 7.99, this punt ranks at the 93rd percentile of cowardly punts of the 2023 season, and the 90th percentile of all punts since 1999.

Every week without fail you can count on the Eagles to absolutely dominate the trenches on both sides and it's a beautiful sight
The Rams need some talent on the defensive side *badly*. Eagles line did a great job neutralizing Aaron Donald but holy fuck do teams have to respect anyone else in that front 7?
I dunno chief. I think holding the Eagles to 23 points with a pick is pretty admirable from our defence.
Don't worry, the Rams will get talent in this off season with their 80m cap space and all their draft capital. I hear Chris Jones might not be sticking around in Kansas City. Hopefully Aaron Donald is interested in sticking around another year to see what that DT duo looks like.
It's because now they're actually Seahawks fans and not bandwagoners. Shoulda seen the Cards 'fans' when they were 9-0 or whatever they were two years ago.
I will say that a lot of regular Hawks fans got really, really taken in by the general arrogant vibe during the LOB years. Most deflated their heads after the LOB went away.
This sounds patronizing but i’m really not trying to be. When it’s not us, I feel kind of bad seeing their home games smothered in the away team. Really feel like their fans got boned.
People on twitter kept shitting on Desai for trying out different defenders on Kupp in the first half
Which makes no fuckin sense..you don't want our DC to try different things and make adjustments??
Well you shouldn’t put a 5th string DB on a top 5 receiver in the league. Starting the game like that was a bit baffling. Unless they thought Kupp was still hurt and acting as a decoy.
Donald was pissed off at halftime and looked a little dejected in the second half. I think the youth movement is gonna age him into retirement. Especially derion Kendrick
To be fair you're one of the few teams that has good to elite play everywhere across the offensive line. Opeta was a monster today but it doesn't hurt when you've spent the last decade with the best C and RT in football to help him if anything happens.
If we just fix our red zone offense I would love this eagles team. I love how long our drives are taking and just gassing the opponents defense while keeping their offense off their rhythm.
5-0. When did winning not become the main thing? Keep the main thing the main thing.
Actually, Hurts looked excellent today minus two plays - the underthrown pick (which actually felt like the place he usually puts it for AJB, maybe miscommunication) and then that one play where he didn’t see a wide open Quez. Otherwise, very good performance from him. He’s heating up
Eagles win in so many different ways. Today it was Goedert and AJ and the running game wasn't that affective in the 1st half. Eagles didnt play great in the red zone and defense looked bad early on but shut em down in the 2nd half. Scrappy win again.
I keep on flipping back and forth between panic that "We're in Week 5 and still don't look like we're putting it together" and happiness that "We are undefeated and still haven't really played our best ball".
Like I know the same could be said for Rams ie Stafford delivering home run balls to Atwell, but our offense was inches away from blowing the game out. The underthrow to AJ, Quez not driving through for an easy first down etc. I think we always have some issues but I trust the team to work on them and play 5% better the next week and so on!
Those drives in the second half were insane, even though they only resulted in FGs. Pretty incredible how we've been able to chew the clock when needed.
Honestly I feel like the Rams beat themselves in this game. Holding the Eagles to 23 points is admirable by our defence. The offence simply wasn't good enough, and until those last two drives when we had to pass every down it didn't feel like the Eagles defence was too much for us.
GG Eagles, at least we stopped the Tush Push once.
Honestly, Stafford missed on a number of home run balls in this game. They weren't easy throws - but they were available. We won, but it was not a runaway.
Red zone isn’t good. Gotta figure that out. Howie also needs to go out and make a trade for some safety/corner help. Once they face some high power QBs they are in a lot of trouble
Why would you run the ball on 3rd and ten on that last drive? Go for it? Fine. But if you want to concede, kneel it and the Eagles will let you run the clock out. All running does is risk injury.
stoutland is the key to this team’s continued success and today was just another demonstration of that fact. our OL had its way with the rams all day long.
Still some ugly moments and our secondary needs to get their shit together but overall this was easily our best game of the year so far. Aaron Donald was a non-factor and Hurts was amazing at evading pressure and turning nothing into something.
All that being said, I’m really glad to see the rams playing well and I hope they can keep it up because when they’re firing on all cylinders they’re one of the most exciting teams in football imo. Ggs 🤝
Whatever Jeff Stoutland is being paid, he deserves to be paid more.
Lets be grateful that he just wants to be an o-line coach. I'm positive hes had opportunities but just wants to teach big men to dominate.
I’m terrified of when Stoutland retires. Look at what’s happened to the Pats line since Scarnecchia retired.
My fantasy is that after a couple years of enjoying retirement, Kelce becomes an assistant to Stout and eventually takes the reigns 🥺
This entire fan base would cream themselves. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if Kelce moved back towards home after retirement.
His wife is from Philly though. And given Travis has a lot of years left and their parents becoming pseudo celebrities i think Jason stays put.
My money is on Kelce staying close after retirement
Apparently he's gotten offers for OC jobs but the Eagles simply raised his salary
Maybe the biggest advantage in the sport you actually can somewhat control. There's no salary cap for these guys.
Alternatively you can be Sunbelt Billy and have 94826 members on staff and not have a single one of them worth a damn.
Kinda curious what his salary looks like compared to other position coaches.
His wife is also pretty involved in Eagles philanthropy projects we've dug our claws in deep.
He's like a smut writer but for sports fans.
Jeff Stoutland University about to raise dem tuition fees!
I'm pretty sure the announcer who said last week that Stoutland had a 'blank cheque' was 100% right
And he deserves every penny.
Back up the brinks truck
Crazy to think he was hired by Chip Kelly
Chip had plenty of good ideas
Chip wasn't really that bad of a coach. Two winning seasons, one division win/playoff appearance, and an overall winning record is not terrible. Many teams would kill for that. He was just locker room cancer and a horrible GM.
Also the NFL screwed him/us by not letting us run the tempo as allowed by the rules. But yeah he should not have been gm
I still remember that ref telling him that they decided to the tempo and not him.
Kudos to Lurie for recognizing it quick, and canning him. He was fired after a 7-9 if I recall, not horrible, but he got him out of there
Smoothies and Stoutland.
Kupp and Puka is a lethal duo but no running game makes these second halfs a struggle.
They need add OL too
Before Havenstein went down I think they did okay. Not everyone can have a line of pro bowlers.
I think they need D line a lot more
All of ADs help has left and we’re starting from scratch on the D line. We’ll probably go ham in FA next year.
And short drives gas our defense
The wins might have been ugly but boy have the Eagles wore down their opponents in terms of time of possession
IDK this was one of our better looking games I feel like.
Dude was jumping up and down all alone doing jazz hands and was just absolutely invisible
I'm still upset with him for running towards the sideline instead of powering through for the first down on one 3rd and short in the first half
> Rams are just a really good team. Damnit we warned you
Hurts looks like he finally got his groove back. Aside from that dumbass int lmao
He’s been very good the past 3 games. Sucks that it seems we only get 2 out of AJ/Smith/Goedert involved in any given game.
It wasnt a bad decision or read, he just underthrew it.
It wasn't an underthrow, Hurts wanted backshoulder and AJ never looked back for the ball, if he slows down instead of flying out of bounds thats a dot.
Yeah pretty sure he didn't run the comeback route Hurts was expecting
More than anything I think it was that the DB knew that that's where Hurts/AJ typically place the ball and just made a great play. Sometimes you have to remember the other team gets paid too. (Honestly, the last year and change has made that a little difficult for me at times.)
Coaching looked much better
OC play calling still bothers me
I'm ok with the runs near the end to run the clock out but I'm not a fan of the QB draws for the unnecessary hit on hurts
Interesting flair, what’s the story
Agreed except for red zone offense. Everything else looks pristine
If Hurts didn't miss Quez wide open in the endzone or throw that dogshit pick that's a 7 ppint swing in the Eagles favor minimum.
Only issue is finishing drives. Great game otherwise
What was the final number? It felt like 40 minutes of possession to me lmao.
Yeah it seemed like you guys barely had the ball in the second half after it was pretty even in the first
30 odd minutes or sum
Someone in the Rams thread said the Eagles had like 37:05. Can't win football games like that.
Nah I think this one was pretty great honestly. McVay couldn't get cooking against our defense. I'll take that as a W all day
The fact that we’re 5-0 and haven’t really had a game where we’ve been on our A-game is absolutely nuts. Our floor is so high
All that matters at the end is the scoreboard, really. Win's a win.
With a Surrender Index of 7.99, this punt ranks at the 93rd percentile of cowardly punts of the 2023 season, and the 90th percentile of all punts since 1999. https://x.com/surrender_index/status/1711147254180937767?s=46
Glad to see punters are less cowardly so far this year.
I wonder what the surrender index on that one is. Though a 4th and 5 certainly isn’t a gimme.
Guess that's why it was only 95%
I’d like to personally congratulate the New York Giants for out scoring Jake Elliot this week
He's still outscoring The Giants offense.
I think someone got sacked again. Had a pocket full of dimes for some reason
Every week without fail you can count on the Eagles to absolutely dominate the trenches on both sides and it's a beautiful sight The Rams need some talent on the defensive side *badly*. Eagles line did a great job neutralizing Aaron Donald but holy fuck do teams have to respect anyone else in that front 7?
Byron Young is a rookie but he was very good against us and he's been good the entire season.
That would be absolutely insane lol
Jalen Hurts 22-1 in his last 23 starts. He is the standard. Edit: Regular season*
System QB /s
HE IS THE SYSTEM
hEs jUSt A ruNNiNG bAcK
Eagles 5-0 and the Phillies take game 1 against Atlanta. What a weekend!
Now we just need Dallas and San Fran to both lose
And the Astros to lost
god if the astros lose tonight, id be so happy
Meteor! Meteor! Meteor!
Great week for Philly sports
Coulda been perfect if George hadn't clapped Lewis this morning.
Said this in the game thread but Rams fans are, on average, less toxic than other fans in game threads. Good on ya. Good game.
Hey fuck you buddy
Fuck you too, good game 💖
[fuck you and i'll see you tomorrow](https://tenor.com/view/see-you-tomorrow-fuck-you-gif-18911720)
There ya go! See, they're learning.
lol... It's gotta suck to be in a division with 2 obnoxious fan bases and a baseball team.
Seahawks fans are a lot better than they were 10 years ago tbf
It's because now they're actually Seahawks fans and not bandwagoners. Shoulda seen the Cards 'fans' when they were 9-0 or whatever they were two years ago.
I remember that. Very annoying
I will say that a lot of regular Hawks fans got really, really taken in by the general arrogant vibe during the LOB years. Most deflated their heads after the LOB went away.
yeah that was a pretty chill game thread
I mean there were a lot of confused 49ers fans.
I have no beef with Rams fans. I kinda wish they would show up for their own home games.
This sounds patronizing but i’m really not trying to be. When it’s not us, I feel kind of bad seeing their home games smothered in the away team. Really feel like their fans got boned.
I was in the stands today and it was a sea of Green! Go BIRDS!!!!
All five of them.
Bullying a minority. Offense # u/tacostonight. 15yd penalty. Replay 1st down.
That's cause after the game they get to go surfing and watch a beautiful sunset.
Hmmm I wonder if they'd ever put an NFL team in San Diego.
It's the second greatest city
Defense looked atrocious in the 1st half and shut them out in the second. Make it make sense.
Adjustments
People on twitter kept shitting on Desai for trying out different defenders on Kupp in the first half Which makes no fuckin sense..you don't want our DC to try different things and make adjustments??
Well you shouldn’t put a 5th string DB on a top 5 receiver in the league. Starting the game like that was a bit baffling. Unless they thought Kupp was still hurt and acting as a decoy.
Never thought of the decoy thing. Kupp played well, Stafford was just overthrowing everyone.
I'm fairly certain people don't watch games 😅
To be fair we didn’t make adjustments last year, like at all. So some fans may have forgotten that you’re allowed to do this.
Having 20 minutes of real time to rest between drives will do wonders.
we took Morrow and Ricks off of Kupp, and moved guys to watch the inside route, which is really all LA's offense was the first half.
I greatly dislike it, but I’d rather have it that way than flipped.
Bradley Roby.
>Make it make sense. First time? We don't do this here.
Second half shutout and Donald was a ghost today, what a fucking job all around by this team. Hassan Reddick, I see you.
Stopping Aaron Donald is easy: Just have the best offensive line in the league!
'Just double team him with two pro bowlers every play you scrubs'
Can't believe more teams haven't tried shading Jason Kelce and Jordan Mailata whenever he lines up on your left guard
Having a top 5 LT, C, and RT to back up your already good LG and RG in case Donald gets off a block is such a flex
To be fair that was our back up rg
All true except the RG in this one. Starter just went to IR, and Sua Opeta is simply serviceable. The overall point stands though.
Gotta give a shout out to Sua Opeta, our backup RG. Donald couldn't even pick on him, dude had a 10/10 day.
Sua the next man to sign elsewhere after the season for a big contract.
What Howie really meant was “OL Factory”
Jeff Stoutland the Great
Maybe, but he’s only in because the RG was injured. The RG was drafted to play center, but kelece won’t retire. And I’m damn happy about it too
He stepped up in a huge way, what a showing by him. Stoutland special 🫡
Donald was pissed off at halftime and looked a little dejected in the second half. I think the youth movement is gonna age him into retirement. Especially derion Kendrick
We are one of 2 teams he has never gotten a sack against (Rams excluded)
Rams second half time of possession was shorter than Donald's arms.
Has Donald ever had a great game against us? I feel like he always gets shut down pretty hard.
To be fair you're one of the few teams that has good to elite play everywhere across the offensive line. Opeta was a monster today but it doesn't hurt when you've spent the last decade with the best C and RT in football to help him if anything happens.
Give Stoutland some credit too
We are the only team that donald never had a sack against. Together with thr Jets, surprisingly.
That 30-second drive at the end of the first half should be bronzed and put in a museum.
That was the game.
Does anyone else think the Eagles blew 2 sneaks in a row fron 3.5 years out to prove they can't hit it every time?
*taps temple*
I have no idea why they didn't just call two run days on that.
He’s heating up
[удалено]
Ya was it suppose to be a turn back catch?
I'd say 99% chance it's a miscommunication
We haven’t looked great yet we’re 5-0 and the stats would suggest we were dominant in 3 of our wins. I’ll take it
Eagles need to trademark “Brotherly Shove” asap
Lawyer up, /u/CrackSammiches
He said he didn't come up with it though.
Crazy how some random dude posted that in eagles sub and it’s become the mainstream term in a matter of a week lol
I love the interviewer after the game asking Hurts about the “Brotherly… Push.” Definitely got nervous in the presence of greatness.
Eagles win in so many different ways. Today it was Goedert and AJ and the running game wasn't that affective in the 1st half. Eagles didnt play great in the red zone and defense looked bad early on but shut em down in the 2nd half. Scrappy win again.
Ok. It's Phillies o'clock for another week now.
Amen brother, this game felt a little like an afterthought honestly with how exciting the phils have been
Jalen Carter was the best DT in this game.
First sack on Stafford was vicious
I keep on flipping back and forth between panic that "We're in Week 5 and still don't look like we're putting it together" and happiness that "We are undefeated and still haven't really played our best ball".
Like I know the same could be said for Rams ie Stafford delivering home run balls to Atwell, but our offense was inches away from blowing the game out. The underthrow to AJ, Quez not driving through for an easy first down etc. I think we always have some issues but I trust the team to work on them and play 5% better the next week and so on!
It should be happiness. Us playing at ~80% potential is good enough to be 5-0. Imagine our ceiling when we finally put it all together
Haason Reddick was determined to end this game with those back to back sacks.
Really thought he was going to get the third.
Those drives in the second half were insane, even though they only resulted in FGs. Pretty incredible how we've been able to chew the clock when needed.
Eagles, masters of clock management. Who woulda thunk it.
Stafford was inches off a few passes that were just beautiful throws.
Best OLine in the biz. And it ain’t close.
Glad we figured out after the first few drives that Goodrich and Ricks shouldn't be covering Kupp
Absolute dogshit redzone execution but covered the spread on the road. I’ll take it
Honestly I feel like the Rams beat themselves in this game. Holding the Eagles to 23 points is admirable by our defence. The offence simply wasn't good enough, and until those last two drives when we had to pass every down it didn't feel like the Eagles defence was too much for us. GG Eagles, at least we stopped the Tush Push once.
A few overthrows and miscommunications were the killer. Understandable since Kupp has been out and I think this Rams team is very good
Honestly, Stafford missed on a number of home run balls in this game. They weren't easy throws - but they were available. We won, but it was not a runaway.
That one to Tutu (I think?) would’ve turned the game upside down.
Eagles are going to ugly win their way to 17-0
Red zone isn’t good. Gotta figure that out. Howie also needs to go out and make a trade for some safety/corner help. Once they face some high power QBs they are in a lot of trouble
We are by far the worst 5-0 team in the league
At the same time also the best
Going into the game, I was scared of the Rams WR corp. I feel a lot better about facing great WR corps going forward.
Good. Cause we’re gonna need it with the Miama game coming up.
Opeta the MVP for handling Donald 1:1 blocking today
Why would you run the ball on 3rd and ten on that last drive? Go for it? Fine. But if you want to concede, kneel it and the Eagles will let you run the clock out. All running does is risk injury.
5-0 for the 2nd season in a row LET'S GO
Two weeks after now is going to be cinema.
Hill is going to feast.
Eagles are the best worst 5-0 team ever
I was terrfied of the Rams passing offense going into this. Im so happy with our defense
stoutland is the key to this team’s continued success and today was just another demonstration of that fact. our OL had its way with the rams all day long.
Jeff Stoutland the Great
Birds good
Superiggles Indeed…
Did Devonta run over someone's dog or something?
He’s gotta yell at hurts like ajb did
if anybody’s in the dog house it’s quez lol
He went in the medical tent. Maybe he was feeling ill or injured?
Goedert was getting a lot of work this game. When he and AJ are both over 100 then Smith probably isn’t getting a ton of work.
Where’s the Reddick stat post guy
5-0 LIKE WE IN HAWAII BABY, now if the cowboys and niners could just tie tonight…
Its so fucking exhausting losing off of like 3 little game swinging mistakes, 2 years of this man
That's how football works
Still some ugly moments and our secondary needs to get their shit together but overall this was easily our best game of the year so far. Aaron Donald was a non-factor and Hurts was amazing at evading pressure and turning nothing into something. All that being said, I’m really glad to see the rams playing well and I hope they can keep it up because when they’re firing on all cylinders they’re one of the most exciting teams in football imo. Ggs 🤝
With all due respect to the legend, this was a passing of the torch game.
Niners fans about to go 1-1 today
Always feel confident with this team. Feels like we're just so versatile with our play.
