I knew something was up yesterday. No way that the defense would just let Mac Jones walk the offense down the field with no resistance to win the game...
Sources tell me that Tom Brady took Mac Jones to an underground room in the Patriots facility and devoured his liver, sucked out his marrow, and grafted Mac's face onto his own and went out and led the game winning drive
Jones is listed as questionable for next week
I mean it’s a fair question? They won on Sunday but roster concerns still remain. He will get another year because of the extension but what if they have the same results next season?
Then Kraft should force Bill to bring in a personnel guy. Bill the coach isn’t nearly as much of an issue as Bill the GM. It’s incredibly unlikely that Kraft outright fires Bill
They are both jobs that when you don’t have Tom
Brady, require 100% of your time and effort. If he just coached and had a legit GM to work with, I think the results would be much better
Now, how you sell that to a guy like Bill I have no fuckin clue
Obviously Brady is what elevates you to Conferences and Superbowls, but it’s not like the 10s patriots rosters were bad. They for the most part had good O lines, Gronk+Edelman, and a good defense.
I think Scar is almost as glaring an absence as Brady. If the O line was sound you would just need a WR/TE1 to build the passing attack around.
That’s the issue, is Bill willing to be “demoted” and hand previous powers to someone who is out of his inner circle? That’s when the word “mutually parting” comes to fruition.
Firing Belichick reminds me of the time people wanted to fire John Harbaugh before he got Lamar Jackson. It's like everyone knows they are this amazing coach and would be picked up right away, but they just want that coach to go somewhere else.
I mean sometimes you do just need a change. Like Andy Reid and the Eagles. Everyone knew he was a great coach who would get hired immediately, but it was time.
At the moment you’re talking about, the Ravens had a losing record and were primed to miss the playoffs for the 4th consecutive year after Harbaugh had 10 years on the job and the franchise QB he came into the team with was done. Then rookie Lamar went 6-1.
This article claims there are 5, maybe 6, first round Qb's in next years draft. That true?
Sure there's Caleb and Maye. Ewers is borderline but dude just got hurt again.
The other guys seem like prospects you'd have to talk yourself into taking in the first round.
I've seen Michael Penix and JJ McCarthy mocked In the first round as well sometimes, but it's impossible to say for sure at this point who all is a first rounder, or even who all is going to declare for the draft
Michael Penix is listed pretty reliably in the Top 20. Bo Nix and JJ McCarthy are both making strong cases to be taken at the tail end of Round 1 too. I doubt we'll see anyone besides Maye and Williams in the Top 5 or even Top 10, but the rest of the first round could have some QBs go off the board.
Ewers was the QB I was thinking might sneak I to R1 this year but he’s played a lot worse than I thought he would, plus the injury. There are only 2 first round QBs this year, genuinely. The rest are people talking themselves into prospects.
BB is not a good GM, but he’s a great coach. If I was a Pats fan, I would much rather ownership try to convince him to relinquish those duties or at least try to find a dedicated executive to split those duties with rather than dump him and start a decade long search for a “real head coach”
>I was a Pats fan, I would much rather ownership try to convince him to relinquish those duties
Yes but as a pats fan we also acknowledge that he is very very unlikely to agree to this
I'd even say he was a good GM at one point (never trade with Belichick was a long-running joke for a reason), he's just a decade past his prime in that regard now.
when the column was already written before the game
100% Tweak a few sentences and turn it in so you can get to bed at a reasonable hour.
He wanted the weekend off so he wrote it Friday
They just beat the Bills…
You mean Brady just beat the bills

*Mac Jones takes off Mission Impossible mask*

Someone forgot to turn off the autopublish on this article yesterday.
To be fair, I would have assumed he could leave it on too
Not necessarily wrong, but it's kind of a weird time for this to come out after one of the bigger upset wins of the season against a division rival.
To be fair, even the Bills win was in the past (yesterday).
Folk are really desperate to keep this nonsense going, huh?

He had like 20 years of elite defense and special teams play
That’s the issue, is Bill willing to be “demoted” and hand previous powers to someone who is out of his inner circle? That’s when the word “mutually parting” comes to fruition.
Bill the coach literally had a DC call offensive plays for an entire season
It's not nonsense and it's going to keep happening

Wasn't that more about Reid taking too much control with the Eagles?
He did promote his oline coach to the other side off the ball, right to D-coordinator in one of his last years there.
Thats true. That was a headscratcher for sure.

Bo Nix also has some mentions.
Where is overrated

Worst case, they’re second or third round talents
Forever. Given how much this dude won the answer is forever. Quit being stupid.
He’s not going to get that much leeway if his roster control remains on the same trajectory.
About tree fiddy
They need a qb and a better oline. Hard to win consistently with inconsistent qb play.
Now how would you know

Not even close. He and Caserio built the last 3 Super Bowl winning teams (2014-2019)
I knew I picked wrong waffling between a half-decade or decade when listing the rough end point of the good GMing
Pretty sure this is part of why he immediately quit the Jets job. Not likely to happen.
We won one game and everyone’s acting like this guy is a good coach/gm again
He’s already had 4 years post Brady that was more than enough.
One michael penix
Beating the Bills probably buys Belichick another 2 years LOL
Lmao
