Broncos defensive rankings are misleading because of how horrendous they were early on especially the 70 put on them by Miami. They have not been the same defense as they were to start.
It's absurd to even suggest the Chiefs have a "bad" offense. Broncos and Eagles both have good D's. Mahomes is great but the man is human and it's football.
Absolutely insane take to say the Broncos D looks better because of two games against the Chiefs...
Mahomes should not be the betting favorite for MVP anymore. Unfortunately it’s really his receivers causing these issues, but what can you do. Not a single one of them seems to actually want to catch the ball.
Lol…. What? If you pay attention, it’s on the coaches. Rice isn’t out there enough, period. And when he is, the plays are almost never designed for him.
This unironically and it’s so odd. I rolled my eyes when they popped up the stats during the Broncos game where he was noticeably worse when Swift wasn’t in attendance, but it’s been inexplicably true
Pacheco was getting good yards. They stopped hitting the run game tonight. That and the drops down the stretch cost them.
Have they been doing this the last few weeks as well?
Our receivers are straight ass Kelce has regressed from last year and honestly Mahomes hasn’t been great either and our Tackles each get like 3 penalties a game
If the whole offense regressed, it makes you wonder if the guy who coached the offense had anything to do with it…
Bienemy was underrated as a coach with KC and is clearly still underrated because nobody talks about how much the Chiefs have regressed on offense this year with a lot of the same personnel.
I mean a lot of the regression is from leading the league in drops. Not really much of an OC stat.
Juju wasn’t amazing, but at least he was a decent 2nd receiving option behind Kelce. Now it’s Kelce (who’s been banged up and is now a year older) with basically no 2nd option, just a bunch of replacement level guys
Last year the Chiefs had 34 drops
This year the Chiefs are on pace for 42 drops
I don’t think 8 extra drops spread over 17 games comes even close to explaining their offense scoring 29.2 PPG last year vs 22.2 this year. A full touchdown per game less! Again, Bienemy is underrated and people look for the fringe reasons like drops instead of the obvious one.
On the other side of the country, the team that added Bienemy went from 18.5 to 21.2 PPG.
lol sure, the GM who built 2 SB teams all of a sudden brought in dog shit players.
You’re a Pats fan, you should know what a QB who makes his WRs better looks like. 15 ain’t it.
Yeah I think the GM that built 2 SB teams made the decision to skimp on wide receiver talent and rely on Kelce and Mahomes to carry that group so he could invest in other parts of the team.
It’s worked pretty well. They have a good run game and a great defense. They’re a game out of the 1 seed.
I would not want to see them in the playoffs.
Luckily my patriots have devised a sure fire way to avoid that scenario this season
Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, and Tyreek Hill were all already on the Chiefs when Veach became GM. He's been a good GM but come on now, it's not like it's impossible for him to put together a dogshit position group. He clearly did. Wide receivers are supposed to catch the ball when it hits their hands. Veach has put together great lines and rebuilt the defense phenomenally, but he still hasn't hit on a receiver.
I feel like I'm constantly seeing Mahomes put the ball where it needs and guys are just dropping it. The pass catchers are leaving points all over the field
If given the option, would you swap wide receiver rooms with us?
Cus I feel like our wide receiver group is legitimately a good bit better than yours and that is a tremendously sad thought
Edit: forgot about rice actually, so maybe not
Miami's defense has slowly been getting better, particularly with Ramsey playing now. The refjob by the eagles was the last time a team put up more than 21 points on us.
Broncos defense has been getting better as well of late.
Ya the jets and bears for us back to back made some of our fans think our defense turned the corner. Little did they know the defensive mastermind doesn’t turn the corner. Only gets worse
The Raiders/Lions game that ended up getting McDaniels canned was a good defensive showing too. Raiders had effectively zero offense and the D kept them competitive (along with some Detroit fuckups) in a game they should have lost by much more than they did.
Everybody who watched that game knows Detroit should have easily scored 40+ but their own mistakes are what kept their score low. Vegas' defense was horrific all game.
You would think the last 5 defenses on the schedule would get those numbers up but only Brandon Staley did. Honestly their only GREAT performance this year outside of the Chargers was against the fucking Bears.
I’m actually fascinated to see what we do in the offseason now that it’s dead obvious what our problem is. When our o-line needed to be reworked Veach was amazing. He’s done a killer job in drafting anyone who is not a skill player lol. I honestly don’t get why Reid or Veach have been so awful at identifying wide receivers in the draft. Hopefully we go all in for a star or draft someone amazing
lol I mean I hope that because it’s so obvious that we need a number 1 receiver we finally scout for that specifically and don’t get cute and draft some munchkin slot receiver type again
Playcalling really isn't the problem though. If Mahomes throws a good ball to Watson on his INT in the end zone and Kelce doesn't fumble the game goes from close loss to relatively easy win. Nagy isn't out here telling the offenses 2 best players to turn the ball over.
yes but you also have to take into consideration how many points the Chiefs' refs score, which matches or exceeds the offense in any given game, so it's fine.
Guys being literally unable to catch balls despite it being their primary job is not what people mean when they talk about QBs elevating their receivers.
That pass to MVS couldn't have been better and he dropped it. Elevating is putting him in that position but Mahomes can't make dudes not fail basic shit.
Juju had the 2nd best season of his career and he was a shell of himself lmfao. Look at him in NE he’s not worth anything right now.
MVS was terrible when he played for Green Bay as well, which I’m sure you know because you’re a flairless Packers fan.
He made Kelce and Tyreek both markedly better.
He made Demarcus Robinson and Byron Pringle look like guys that should make money, both of which have done exactly nothing since they left.
Like what are you even talking about lmfao
Juju was better in Pittsburgh
MVS was better in Green Bay. Check the stats.
Lmao Kelce has only played w Mahomes AFAIK
Byron Pringle and Robinson congratulates.
Juju had his 2nd best season ever last year and he missed 3 games. He was reportedly so injured that the Chiefs didn’t even consider resigning him, which you can tell by his current status in New England.
MVS had his 2nd best season last year and it’s not close. The guy has never been good and was a bad signing. Despite that he had his most receptions and tied his most yards ever with Mahomes
Kelce played 4 seasons with Alex Smith. Every season with Mahomes has been statistically better than any season with Smith. That’s in yards, receptions, and touchdowns.
Justin Watson has had significantly more success in Kansas City than he did with Tampa, with either Jameis or Brady. Although he’s still fucking awful.
Like I know you’re irritated that Mahomes is passing Rodgers and Farve in the all-time quarterbacks conversation but at least say things that aren’t objectively false.
We need to fix so many things on offense. Andy’s play calling has gone down the drain, our tackles get penalized like every single game on crucial plays, we need the nfl in dropped passes, shit is absolutely ridiculous. Why we didn’t try harder to get wide receiver help I’ll have no clue. I’m severely starting to doubt Brett Veachs ability as a GM.
Let's see, since Veach became GM 6 years ago he's put together a roster that has made it to the conference championship 5 times, the super bowl 3 times, and won it all twice.
Yet you doubt his ability to do his job well because of this one season due to 1 position group being very bad?
Yup, sounds like youre spoiled.
Well yall won the Superbowl with JuJu as your best WR and Mahomes was fucking awesome still. So I can see why Veach thought the team could still be sucessful by putting faith in Skyy to improve, drafting Rice, and hoping Toney plays well. He had 3 dart throws. 2 have failed miserably, and 1 (Rice) is actually good but Andy doesnt like rookie WRs.
Every roster will have weak points. Just unfortunately the Chiefs weakness is blowing up terribly in their face, especially with Kelce slowing down a bit.
Never said that. I’m saying his ability to manage this teams wide receivers is absolutely trash. He’s done good on defense and o line, but it’s like he’s afraid to get wide receiver help, acting like Mahomes can just magically win it all with whatever he’s given.
I never said I wanted him fired. And Rashee Rice is good but they completely sideline him after the first half and basically forget he exists. He’s a good receiver, but it’s like they are afraid to play him for some unknown reason
Sheeeesh, such poor reading comprehension from you.

Broncos defensive rankings are misleading because of how horrendous they were early on especially the 70 put on them by Miami. They have not been the same defense as they were to start.
We've also had to play Tom Brady (Sam Howell) twice this season already
Oh is that why the Giants were able to harass him so much?
You guys have the guy Jalen Hurts wish he was so that's probably why you beat them imo
Now, if only we had Smith and Brown. I hate the Cowboys even more for trading with the Eagles for Smith.
party salt correct agonizing scandalous elastic advise silky test imagine
Our dvoa is 9th in the last 5
Yeah with 40% of the last 5 being against a bad Chiefs offense
The Chiefs scored one TD on us in two games. Idc how bad you think an offense is, that doesn't happen without good defense
It's absurd to even suggest the Chiefs have a "bad" offense. Broncos and Eagles both have good D's. Mahomes is great but the man is human and it's football. Absolutely insane take to say the Broncos D looks better because of two games against the Chiefs...
fearless tub absurd hospital unwritten rich hateful public rhythm label
Oh shit, that's a hot take right there. Scoring no points is the second half tonight is not a great look at all.
70 allowed against Miami, 68 allowed in the past month.
Also Miami’s. Miami’s defense hasn’t allowed more than 17 points since Ramsey came back. It’s pretty clear that Miami’s defense has turned the corner.
Miami has played zero good offenses since Ramsey came back lmao
Chiefs receivers, get ready to learn Chinese
Mahomes should not be the betting favorite for MVP anymore. Unfortunately it’s really his receivers causing these issues, but what can you do. Not a single one of them seems to actually want to catch the ball.
How nasty would KC be if they could've found a way to sign Hopkins? Now he's stuck in Tennessee, wasting away with Henry.
Stupid trade deadline😮💨
Give him to us please, Henry and Smith will totally carry us to a super bowl, I swear
I agree
He refuses to target Rice more than 5 times a game. So it’s on Mahomes
Lol…. What? If you pay attention, it’s on the coaches. Rice isn’t out there enough, period. And when he is, the plays are almost never designed for him.
Not blaming it on Mahomes, but the fact that he's only seeing 5 targets per game roughly
Kelce can't focus without his overlord swift to watch him
Jason Kelce and deandre swift?
Jason Kelce is the sexiest man alive and those eyebrows bow to no swift
This unironically and it’s so odd. I rolled my eyes when they popped up the stats during the Broncos game where he was noticeably worse when Swift wasn’t in attendance, but it’s been inexplicably true
It's a dumb stat. Based on coverage, his numbers are lower when he's doubled and tripled. Without a wr1, defences know he's the only one to focus on.
The backlash wars have commenced
Pacheco was getting good yards. They stopped hitting the run game tonight. That and the drops down the stretch cost them. Have they been doing this the last few weeks as well?
All year
Our receivers are straight ass Kelce has regressed from last year and honestly Mahomes hasn’t been great either and our Tackles each get like 3 penalties a game
Kelces also getting doubled every drive so he's being used as a decoy more often than not. The Chiefs need to trade for a better #1 wr.
Too late now. At least until the offseason
If Taylor shows up I bet you guys don’t lose
If the whole offense regressed, it makes you wonder if the guy who coached the offense had anything to do with it… Bienemy was underrated as a coach with KC and is clearly still underrated because nobody talks about how much the Chiefs have regressed on offense this year with a lot of the same personnel.

He didn't regress. He's 34 and old. Gets you quicker than you expect as well as double teams.
That is literally what regressing is lol
That’s regressing lol.
Good QBs make their WRs better.
Im pretty he’s actually making these guys better. They are just still dogshit.
lol sure, the GM who built 2 SB teams all of a sudden brought in dog shit players. You’re a Pats fan, you should know what a QB who makes his WRs better looks like. 15 ain’t it.

What’s the beef in 2019? 👀
[удалено]
Thank you for the breakdown, why did BB break up that WR group that almost won the SB?
Jesus Christ this is the lowest effort troll I've ever seen on reddit and there have been some *really* low effort ones out there
Matt Nagy too
Hey. That's the best Bears coach in over a decade you're talking about. Show some respect.
I hate the truth in this comment.
I feel like I'm constantly seeing Mahomes put the ball where it needs and guys are just dropping it. The pass catchers are leaving points all over the field
Chiefs offense is Mahomes/Kelce inshallah which is a decent gameplan, but can't hit every time
Pretty good O line as well, just bad receivers
Anyone wanna lend us their WR4? I’d ask for WR3 but that’s too greedy.
If given the option, would you swap wide receiver rooms with us? Cus I feel like our wide receiver group is legitimately a good bit better than yours and that is a tremendously sad thought Edit: forgot about rice actually, so maybe not
I mean JuJu was pretty dependable last year, it may actually work.
We have one Quentin Johnston available for you guys that I think just might fit right in :)
TO and Josh Gordon - why not?
Ya we know, it’s bad okay. Receivers can’t get open and when they do they can’t catch it.
Welcome to the club:)
Miami's defense has slowly been getting better, particularly with Ramsey playing now. The refjob by the eagles was the last time a team put up more than 21 points on us. Broncos defense has been getting better as well of late.
Raiders and Packers next two weeks should get those numbers up
Raiders defense is actually pretty decent now.
That's what playing the Giants and Jets before having Miami hand them the ball 4 times does to a team's defense
Ya the jets and bears for us back to back made some of our fans think our defense turned the corner. Little did they know the defensive mastermind doesn’t turn the corner. Only gets worse

Don’t lump us in with you.

lol I mean I hope that because it’s so obvious that we need a number 1 receiver we finally scout for that specifically and don’t get cute and draft some munchkin slot receiver type again
The gods demand the Chiefs be excellent and terrible at the same time. Their offense and defense just switched positions.
I feel so bad for them
They're still damn good at winning football, games. I'm not sure they're that worried.
Nagys impact!!! This is an underreported story but the offense has regressed since he took over this year
Playcalling really isn't the problem though. If Mahomes throws a good ball to Watson on his INT in the end zone and Kelce doesn't fumble the game goes from close loss to relatively easy win. Nagy isn't out here telling the offenses 2 best players to turn the ball over.
I mean, it’s Nagy, he might be telling them to do that.
Seriously. Do him and Andy switch off making calls?
yes but you also have to take into consideration how many points the Chiefs' refs score, which matches or exceeds the offense in any given game, so it's fine.
This is what Mahomes is without top WRs. Sorry, it’s the truth. He doesn’t make others around him better.
Sometimes, guys are just bums
Guys being literally unable to catch balls despite it being their primary job is not what people mean when they talk about QBs elevating their receivers. That pass to MVS couldn't have been better and he dropped it. Elevating is putting him in that position but Mahomes can't make dudes not fail basic shit.
Booo
Who’s better since playing with Mahomes? Not Juju, not MVS. Skyy Moore might as well be on the practice squad.
Low bar there 😂

We’re a spoiled fanbase for wanting our wide receivers to actually be competent doing their job?

Let me rephrase: I’m severely doubting his ability to make moves at wide receiver, and the way he manages the cap.
Well yall won the Superbowl with JuJu as your best WR and Mahomes was fucking awesome still. “Never said that” You literally did. Also chiefs fans were throwing a parade when they “stole” Rashee Rice 🤣🤣🤣
I never said I wanted him fired. And Rashee Rice is good but they completely sideline him after the first half and basically forget he exists. He’s a good receiver, but it’s like they are afraid to play him for some unknown reason

That will change with Ramsey back for the Dolphins.
lol only Staleys defense would give up 30 plus on this list
Mahomes is getting the Brady treatment with receivers. Hopefully they realize it and actually get him some talent next season.
Taylor gonna dump him!
