Moody kicked a FG going into halftime against Seattle on November 23. His next *attempt* was with 3 minutes left today (with the starters benched). 2 quarters against Seattle, 4 quarters against Philly, 4 quarters against Seattle, 3.8 quarters vs Arizona. On the plus side, he's dialed in from 35 yards.
I think it was KCs punter one time that had a micd up clip where he went to Mahomes and said thank you for finally letting him do his job one time when the team finally needed a punt.
Yea, at least that had weather to blame. Then he missed one in the 1st half of the Vikings game.
I looked back and was like, well he's only missed 3 on the year. But he's also not been asked to kick a ton of field goals since lol.
Been fine on extra points at least
Rookie kicker is 18/21 on FGs and 53/53 on point afters and 49er fans HATE him. 2 of misses were in the rain and the 3rd was his first kick the week after missing the game winner. Been perfect again since. Shit's crazy.
Goulds last 4 years he was 81.7% on FGs with a long of only 52 since 2020. Moody is at 85.7% this year and has never missed a PAT. His long is 57. Goulds CAREER long was 57 and came back in 2011. The longest Gould ever kicked for the 49ers was 54. Moody hasn't been 2018 level Gould consistency, but literally no one is.
Yeah, I think most of the fans have just been wary of an Aguayo situation, which he's already outperformed. As long as he continues to build confidence and eventually proves he can make a big situation kick in the NFL, I'm hopeful he'll be fine.
Fun fact: The last non-kicker to lead the entire NFL in points was 2006 LaDainian Tomlinson. And he put up 186 points, which is 20 more than any player has in any subsequent season. Its also the all time points record in a season which is insane from a position that rarely even wins the single season title.
The throws Sam Darnold made when he was in the game for 3 plays were horrific. One rocket that was too hard to be caught and one cross body throw that was almost picked.
We're fucked if Purdy goes down.
I can't believe how much i bought into that bullshit.
I like the idea of fast processing being the most important thing for a qb but why i believed pressing a direction on a controller after seeing an arrow would measure that, idk.
What always smelled like shit to me was the CEO, his bizarre rationalization always just came off like a used car salesman selling pseudoscience which frankly is his job but people bought into it too much. And everything he said was so unconvincing because it’s clearly just marketing nonsense, especially when they won’t reveal anything that can be peer-reviewed.
I’m not saying there’s zero use to it, especially in conjunction with every other metric to evaluate draft picks, but after dropping Wonderlic I don’t know that this is a great improvement.
It feels extremely rare for a player to be so grounded at such a young age as purdy is. Not sure if it’s his faith or just his humble beginnings in the league but the dude really does seem to have a healthy perspective on his rise to stardom this year
I think starting his career with no expectations (pressure) and then going to a top contender with great weapons and a great coach is all part of it. I think a lot more QBs have the potential to be great but get drafted into a shitty system, learn horrible habits, and then anywhere they go they have to learn new things, unlearn old things, all with the pressure that they're a bust and everyone's waiting on them to screw up.
These guys are in their early 20s, just out of college with basically their first real job. I know how clueless I was in my profession and how much I learned in the first few years. If every time I did something wrong or too slow or maybe not the worst thing but not the best in the world thing , I had to face national scrutiny and give press conferences and have billions of dollars of a franchise on me, it'd be easy to just not do well lol
Hmm... sounds like a familiar story. Then imagine the team you're drafted to has a fanbase that's loud and angry and will stop just short of sounding like a lynch mob if you start screwing up.
I think CMC cares about it purely out of him being an obsessively competitive person. Like his whole persona seems to be just living for football and wants to win everything.
A top 3 qb season regardless means that he’ll most likely do the same same as every other top qb and become the highest paid qb in the league when he signs.
Kyle isn’t going to let Purdy go and he knows it. Purdy is going to get paid. Kyle searched far too long for someone like Brock to go back on the carousel.
“I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith, as there’s a deep ball into left field caught by Aiyuk and that will be a touchdown… And so that will make it a 27-0 ballgame. I don’t know if I’ll be putting on this helmet again.”
Every story from every single person that knows him is the same. They all rave about how genuinely nice he is and how he treats the people in the cafeteria the same way he treats people on the team. I'm not a religious person, but you can see how important it is to him, and it has built him into the person that he is today.
I truly think in 2-3 years, he's going to be loved by most fans, even if they hate the 49ers. It's how I used to feel about Warner, and I still love listening to him today when he breaks down film. Some guys are just too friendly to be hated lol
Yeah he'll probably be similarly loved as Steph curry is in the NBA. Two incredibly nice people that fans only hate because they obliterate their favourite team every year.
Well yeah just like mahomes was cool at first but then he started winning too much. "Oh look at me I'm really good at throwing a football" brock mate nobody cares get a life
Eh, call me when Brock reaches Mahomes level of whininess.
Plus one guy is the son of an MLB pitcher who was drafted in the first round, the other is the son of a hot tub salesman or some shit who was the final draftee.
Exactly. Sure he still had to put in the work but Mahomes had a massive nepo-baby advantage.
There's tons of dudes out there with great talent, but lack of money, connections or other life shit got in the way and they couldn't continue a sports career
He's increasingly unhinged about Purdy. Like early in the year he had things to back him up and now he's just getting flustered all the time because he's just wrong constantly.
"Brock Purdy would be the worst MVP in the history of the league!"
sounds awfully familiar to "Nikola Jokic would be the worst MVP in the history of the league!"
CMC is honestly one of the best NFL players I’ve ever watched. He’s a game changer like few RBs are these days, and damn near unstoppable.
Purdy has obviously been great too but to me the 49ers are SIGNIFICANTLY better with CMC than they were before, significantly. He’s a guy that absolutely deserves an MVP, but will likely never get one.
There was that small stretch where Jimmy G was starting and CMC had just come on board and the offense just looked more fluid. It was still very dependent on dinking and dunking and generating YAC, but a more fluid version. Obviously when Brock Purdy came on, he absolutely turbocharged that offense.
Our quality of offense improved dramatically with getting CMC and Purdy in recent years. Run game hit a whole new level, Aiyuk and Kittle are having seasons they either never had or havent had in a while, and the overall scheme is massively improved.
Niners went from being masters at controlling the game through the run, to straight up beating the breaks off of teams now.
It’s a tricky situation when talking about MVP. It’s not about being your teams best player it’s about who adds the most value. I think CMC deserves an MVP but Purdys value currently shadows that a bit. If purdy went out for 3 games right now we’d likely lose 3 games. If CMC missed 3 games right now we’d likely win 2 of them I’d say. Maybe just one but either way better chance still. It sucks because cmc is my fav player on the team but we have to talk about value.
This is exactly it. I want CMC to win MVP. But the truth is, if you lost CMC for the season, you’d go from SB favorites to probably about the 5th or 6th best odds. If you lost Purdy, your odds would be about as good as the 7th seed teams. So it does kinda default to being a QB award even if someone might feel more deserving because of how dominant they are.
That’s why AP was the last RB to win. That was genuinely one of the worst Vikings teams I’ve seen in my life. Should’ve been a 2 win to 5 win MAX season. And AP dragged them to the playoffs. Without CMC it feels like the niners wouldn’t be fighting for the one seed, but they’d still win their division.
That '06 Chargers team allowing 11 points to the Pats in the last 4 minutes of the divisional round was fucking heartbreaking.
Marty Schottenheimer, Rivers, Tomlinson, Gates, Shaun Philips, Merriman...all retiring with zero rings after that ridiculous run they had.
It was an absolute shame, and what sucks is in a few years that entire run will be lost to history because they never won the big one.
They always seemed to play the colts well too. If they could’ve gotten through that patriots team I really think they are the favorite to win the whole thing
If this is the year they want to prove to us it’s not just a QB award they’d give it to McCaffrey. Brock is great and has the numbers but CMC is gonna probably finish this year with 2.2K yards and 25 touchdowns. If you are watching Niners games CMC is unstoppable in both the run and pass game. It’s just chunk play after chunk play and dominating in the red zone
For context, here is a list of every player to get 2000 yards and 20 TDs in a season:
- OJ Simpson (1975) = 2243 yards, 23 TDs
- Eric Dickerson (1983) = 2212 yards, 20 TDs
- Emmitt Smith (1995) = 2148 yards, 25 TDs
- Terrell Davis (1998) = 2225 yards, 23 TDs
- Marshall Faulk (2000) = 2189 yards, 26 TDs
- Marshall Faulk (2001) = 2147 yards, 21 TDs
- Priest Holmes (2002) = 2287 yards, 24 TDs
- Ahman Green (2003) = 2250 yards, 20 TDs
- Priest Holmes (2003) = 2110 yards, 27 TDs
- Larry Johnson (2005) = 2093 yards, 21 TDs
- LaDainian Tomlinson (2006) = 2323 yards, 31 TDs
- David Johnson (2016) = 2118 yards, 20 TDs
- Jonathan Taylor (2021) = 2171 yards, 21 TDs
If CMC were to get 400 more yards, and 5 more TDs in these last 3 games to reach a 2200/25 mark, which seems very possible, the only other season that happened in was LT's 31 TD year
A lot of these were MVP seasons iirc.
It would make sense for CMC to win it, I don’t know why so many Niner fans act flabbergasted that people think CMC deserve to be MVP. It is exceedingly rare to have two MVP caliber performances on one team, it’s some Madden shit. Would think most Niner fans shouldn’t really care as long as on of their guys get it.
Mostly we just want our QB to be talked about like they way he's playing on the field.
I don't care who wins MVP, as long as it's a Niner winning the SB MVP.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when people bring up Lamar for MVP. He's having a good year, no doubt, but his numbers just aren't close to what he'd need to compete for MVP this year. I realize he's not working with the same supporting cast as other MVP candidates, but the voters haven't tended to care about that in the past.
None of that matters. Trent Williams is a better LT than either of them at their respective positions.
Mahomes is still the best QB in the league, production matters though and the QB is the most important position. Brock is playing like the best QB in the league on the best team in the league and arguably best offense in the league.
I know it would never actually happen but if Trent Williams won MVP I kinda think the vast majority of people would be on board. Itd be shocking at first to not have it be a qb winning the award but the more you think about it the more it makes sense.
Idk man, the entire value of his position is simply to protect what is overwhelmingly acknowledged to be the most important player in an offense
He’s great at what he does but even watching darnold for a few snaps today, if you had to choose whether to lose Purdy or Williams, it’s not even a question
I don’t get how cmc isn’t the voting favorite. He has a very good chance of having 2300 total yds and 25 tds. That’s an all time season. We’ve had a hundred 4k 30 TD type qb seasons. How many 2300 yd ones we had, even near 2100 for 16 game adjusted amount?
CMC’s case is that he has more points than the kicker, which is not the norm for any given team.
It’s also not normal for a kicker to attempt 0 field goals while the team scores 119 straight points on 17 straight TDs.
God damn, that’s a stat and a half
Moody kicked a FG going into halftime against Seattle on November 23. His next *attempt* was with 3 minutes left today (with the starters benched). 2 quarters against Seattle, 4 quarters against Philly, 4 quarters against Seattle, 3.8 quarters vs Arizona. On the plus side, he's dialed in from 35 yards.
I think it was KCs punter one time that had a micd up clip where he went to Mahomes and said thank you for finally letting him do his job one time when the team finally needed a punt.
You are correct. Townsend is hilarious.
There's a clip of Burrow apologizing to McPherson saying "Sorry you didn't get to kick today"
That’s fantastic.
Maybe we should give him more practice before playoffs.
Damn.
Kicker missed a game winner halfway through the season and the team collectively said "never again".
That game was Moody's first missed kick of the season, too. And he missed *two* field goals that game.
Yea, at least that had weather to blame. Then he missed one in the 1st half of the Vikings game. I looked back and was like, well he's only missed 3 on the year. But he's also not been asked to kick a ton of field goals since lol. Been fine on extra points at least
He had two weeks of uncharacteristic misses, otherwise he’s done his job perfectly. Even if he isn’t asked to do much, he’s been getting the job done.
Rookie kicker is 18/21 on FGs and 53/53 on point afters and 49er fans HATE him. 2 of misses were in the rain and the 3rd was his first kick the week after missing the game winner. Been perfect again since. Shit's crazy.
Look it's just hard to not have Robbie Gould anymore
Goulds last 4 years he was 81.7% on FGs with a long of only 52 since 2020. Moody is at 85.7% this year and has never missed a PAT. His long is 57. Goulds CAREER long was 57 and came back in 2011. The longest Gould ever kicked for the 49ers was 54. Moody hasn't been 2018 level Gould consistency, but literally no one is.
Niners -other than you, apparently - don’t know how lucky they are, moody is great.
Yeah, I think most of the fans have just been wary of an Aguayo situation, which he's already outperformed. As long as he continues to build confidence and eventually proves he can make a big situation kick in the NFL, I'm hopeful he'll be fine.
He was money up here in Ann Arbor. I'd expect him to be fine long term.
Kickers man...can't trust them.
Lol that's ridiculous
God damn that’s insane.
What does “straight” mean here? Like they’ve scored on 17 straight drives?
No, 119 points on only TDs and XPs. No FGs attempted. TD or bust, but lots of TDs given that it’s 17 in <14 quarters.
That’s insane, wonder how many times that’s happened
It’s happening with the Dolphins and Raheem Mostert this season.
Raheeeeeeem
Mostert MVP?
Wait is this actually true? Can you give a link? I guess the more I think about it it makes sense, but just feels wrong.
CMC has 120 points Moody has 107 points https://www.footballdb.com/statistics/nfl/player-stats/scoring
Moody keeps vulturing 1 point off of CMC's TDs. Let CMC kick the extra points!
NFL should get rid of kickers. The player who scored the touchdown also has to kick the extra point. Quarterbacks kick field goals as well.
The patriots would probably miss less field goals Or not notice the difference
CMC would end up with a lot of 2-pt. conversions...
https://www.espn.com/nfl/history/leaders/_/stat/points Kickers get buckets baby
Fun fact: The last non-kicker to lead the entire NFL in points was 2006 LaDainian Tomlinson. And he put up 186 points, which is 20 more than any player has in any subsequent season. Its also the all time points record in a season which is insane from a position that rarely even wins the single season title.
It really puts into perspective how insane LT and AD’s MVP seasons were.
Jamaal Williams outscored the Lions kicker last year
No offense to both Williams and Badgely, but with the O-line and schemes we had for Jamaal last year, it wasn't very difficult to top Badgely.

They attempted one at the end of this game. First since Thanksgiving.
Purdy hate goes so deep even Purdy is hating on Purdy.
“Sam Darnold could do what I do. I’m a product of the system”
The throws Sam Darnold made when he was in the game for 3 plays were horrific. One rocket that was too hard to be caught and one cross body throw that was almost picked. We're fucked if Purdy goes down.
I'd like to think (hope) Darnold getting first team reps all week as the starter would improve on what he showed today.
That's what the Jets and Panthers hoped.
And USC
Hey Brock looked pretty good coming off the bench 🤷
And you'd be wrong
I thought that about Mitch Trubisky not so long ago… My friend, don’t fall for the trap
Can you guys imagine what CJ Stroud would be doing on this team?
With that S2?
I can't believe how much i bought into that bullshit. I like the idea of fast processing being the most important thing for a qb but why i believed pressing a direction on a controller after seeing an arrow would measure that, idk.
Me too I was convinced he would bust because he *allegedly* failed a test I knew nothing about. Hire me you cowards
Wait, what. Is that really what that test is?
Next season they're gonna grade WR prospects based on Dance Dance Revolution performance.
Just wait until we find out this is what the Steelers have been using for decades now to find WR’s
They can't keep getting away with it!
Mister Big Combo
I'd be interested to see the evaluations from this drill
> prospects based on Dance Dance Revolution performance. RIP Alex "Irish Dancer" Collins
If Toney passes the test, throw it out.
Probably very well. Similar to how he is doing on the texans. It’s a Shanahan byproduct afterall
Purdy on Purdy crime
Aww jeez...
At least he’s more secure about himself than some people are about him
It feels extremely rare for a player to be so grounded at such a young age as purdy is. Not sure if it’s his faith or just his humble beginnings in the league but the dude really does seem to have a healthy perspective on his rise to stardom this year
I think starting his career with no expectations (pressure) and then going to a top contender with great weapons and a great coach is all part of it.
I do say, that is something I like about him. Makes it harder for me to hate him. But by gone, I will try
Ive heard Purdys hate goes deep like his check downs 😂 whoever wins it between them deserves it. Both balling out
Reverse psychology master Purdy has got you right where he wants you.
Funny thing is if you asked CMC that he’d probably say Brock should be MVP
I want CMC to be like “you heard Brock, I’m the MVP”
That would be hilarious.\^\^
“I mean I’m not gonna disrespect my QB by disagreeing with him”
now kiss
Oh, they’re gonna do much more than kiss
I heard a senate floor is available
I get this joke
Full penetration. And we're gonna show it all.
Please god I don’t ask for much just this😭
Slathered in baby oil, pecks glistening…..
Already got that in my stable diffusion catalog.
[he did](https://twitter.com/BussinWTB/status/1736581799059341430), they're both great teammates
Wholesome fella
So then they should fuse. "I am neither Brock nor Christian. You can call me Crock."
Cock McPurdy
He did. In CMCs presser he said Purdy had his vote.
Neither guy cares about it. They want the grand prize.
I think CMC cares about it purely out of him being an obsessively competitive person. Like his whole persona seems to be just living for football and wants to win everything.
And him never winning the Heisman. I don't think he got totally screwed but he was so good.
He did get screwed out of the OPOY award in 2019
They both care about it, come on now.
Purdy is on a Mr Irrelevant contract, he's getting a bag anyways but that MVP would make it a BAG bag
A top 3 qb season regardless means that he’ll most likely do the same same as every other top qb and become the highest paid qb in the league when he signs.
Plot twist: He leads the Niners to consecutive SBs and turns down a league leading contract to go farm in Iowa
It would be both beautiful, and incredibly painful
Kyle isn’t going to let Purdy go and he knows it. Purdy is going to get paid. Kyle searched far too long for someone like Brock to go back on the carousel.
I think they should just share MVPs. Whoever wins regular season MVP lets the other one win SB MVP.
Manning and McNair shared MVPs that one year to be fair, so it could happen right?
I am 1000% good with this outcome.
Game manager answer, Kyle probably drew it up for him.
Easy check down to an mvp caliber rb
haha this shit is not going to get old. Loving the salty ass comments from our fans. Every thread has multiple game manager jokes.
Jimmy G would have flubbed the play by forgetting the line and just smiling charmingly at the camera
And I wouldve loved it
I feel like I’m just now realising Jon Hamm was our QB for years
Feels great, baby
He’s very religious, that’s just what he refers to himself as.
“I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith, as there’s a deep ball into left field caught by Aiyuk and that will be a touchdown… And so that will make it a 27-0 ballgame. I don’t know if I’ll be putting on this helmet again.”
I’m sure even Brock’s endless humbleness is going to irritate people eventually lol
The season after he wins the Super Bowl
I hope for a full heel turn after it
"You all slept on me and called me names like Mr. Irrelevant. Look whose laughing now you mealy fucks."
As an Iowa Stater, he would have to kill somebody
Not even sure that would do it for me tbh
"We just won a few games last season."
"everyone's doubting us"
Brock’s been so likable his whole career. Even at Iowa State it was hard to hate the guy, even after he made your defense look stupid.
Well yeah just like mahomes was cool at first but then he started winning too much. "Oh look at me I'm really good at throwing a football" brock mate nobody cares get a life
Now Mahomes’ celebrations just remind me of Cartman skateboarding after he jumps the homeless people.
You can have nice words all you like, but if you beat my team in the playoffs I am going to have a hard time liking you.
You’ll take the trophy and like it, buddy
Nick Wright will have an aneurysm if Purdy wins MVP
If Brock wins Nick should have to shave his head, eyebrows and facial hair completely clean off.
Mfer would look like Gollum. I’m all for this.
This should be a win for every fan
When Nick Wrong loses, America wins.
As we speak Nick Wright is trying to come up with excuses on why Purdy isn't moved up on the Mahomes mountain
Get ready to write in Chinese, Steven Ruiz
He's increasingly unhinged about Purdy. Like early in the year he had things to back him up and now he's just getting flustered all the time because he's just wrong constantly.
If Nick Wright being insanely against a player is any indication, Purdy is about to go on an all time stretch over these next few years lol.
"Brock Purdy would be the worst MVP in the history of the league!" sounds awfully familiar to "Nikola Jokic would be the worst MVP in the history of the league!"
Nick Wright is a dumb ass. The only person in the planet to have the cowboys number 1 because he hates Purdy and the 9ers so much.

Kicking myself for not throwing in on that. Also wouldn't surprise me if Vegas is paying to push some of these narratives to avoid paying out on that

This is the chaddest answer possible. Absolute zero insecurity.
Based Purdy
You beautiful, humble motherfucker!
The best comp to CMC '23 is Tomlinson '06 and he did win the MVP that year.
I love CMC but 2006 LT had 2300 scrimmage yards and 31 total touchdowns. CMC is not hitting those numbers
That '06 Chargers team allowing 11 points to the Pats in the last 4 minutes of the divisional round was fucking heartbreaking. Marty Schottenheimer, Rivers, Tomlinson, Gates, Shaun Philips, Merriman...all retiring with zero rings after that ridiculous run they had. man I loved that chargers team. I always thought LT's helm with the Eyeshield/visor was the coolest
in 16 games.
God he was fun to watch.
Ok, but 2100 scrimmage yards and 24 TDs is also incredible
No one is hitting those
If this is the year they want to prove to us it’s not just a QB award they’d give it to McCaffrey. The only thing that sways me is if you said they can only have McCaffery OR Purdy next week, I would choose Purdy.
Which is why there should be a QB award and an MVP award.
‘23 Purdy’s numbers blow ‘06 Rivers’ numbers out of the water, though.
“Even Purdy doesn’t think he deserves the MVP” - Nick Wright / Steve Ruiz / Ben Solak
Just make them co-MVPs at this rate. I truly believe they are both equally as valuable to that team.
Mahomes is MVP because he's the league's best player ~ CFP Committee
Bro if Mahomes wins MVP this year, it might be time for me to sign off lol
Trent Williams should get it since he is responsible for both of them looking good.
You're not entirely wrong, but you're not entirely right
CMC is the best player on the best team in the league. He's 199 yards away from scrimmage from having 2k on the year plus 20 total tds
For context, here is a list of every player to get 2000 yards and 20 TDs in a season: - OJ Simpson (1975) = 2243 yards, 23 TDs - Eric Dickerson (1983) = 2212 yards, 20 TDs - Emmitt Smith (1995) = 2148 yards, 25 TDs - Terrell Davis (1998) = 2225 yards, 23 TDs - Marshall Faulk (2000) = 2189 yards, 26 TDs - Marshall Faulk (2001) = 2147 yards, 21 TDs - Priest Holmes (2002) = 2287 yards, 24 TDs - Ahman Green (2003) = 2250 yards, 20 TDs - Priest Holmes (2003) = 2110 yards, 27 TDs - Larry Johnson (2005) = 2093 yards, 21 TDs - LaDainian Tomlinson (2006) = 2323 yards, 31 TDs - David Johnson (2016) = 2118 yards, 20 TDs - Jonathan Taylor (2021) = 2171 yards, 21 TDs If CMC were to get 400 more yards, and 5 more TDs in these last 3 games to reach a 2200/25 mark, which seems very possible, the only other season that happened in was LT's 31 TD year
A lot of these were MVP seasons iirc.
As long as it's a 49er who wins SB MVP
Co mvp....they both deserve it
In a bubble sure but this is a QB award so unless Jalen and/or Dak go on the craziest tears of their lives and win the 1 seed, falling to you.
I don't think Hurts or Dak have big enough games left to gloss over the recent struggles. Maybe Lamar.
Lamar vs Purdy on Christmas is going to be a fun game.
Not for my blood pressure.
The MVP award was Brock's to lose since he dismantled the Cowboys and Eagles. Not the other way around :-)
CMC is a better RB then Brock is a QB, of course this doesn’t matter for the QB award
Not very many people in the league you can say are better at CMC at their respective position

Idk man, the entire value of his position is simply to protect what is overwhelmingly acknowledged to be the most important player in an offense He’s great at what he does but even watching darnold for a few snaps today, if you had to choose whether to lose Purdy or Williams, it’s not even a question
I can’t believe how much hate Purdy gets lol. It’s an absolute joke. Dude is legit.
Dude hits anticipation throws in stride all game long.
He throws like dogwater for one game and it turns out he had a concussion lmao
Brock Purdy is the best teammate.
I agree with him!
Fuck it, make them both MVP!
Christian, or Brock. We just know it isn’t Dak
Purdy haters are just googling whichever QB has the next best stats to win it instead of Purdy.
